In this neck of the woods those are call Butt-Capes. Because in COV they first showed up on Arachnos Widows and were mounted to the butt. No one had thought of this before and no one ever wanted anything more after that point. Elite Clone troopers had them in attack of the clones and in the EU were referred to as Kama IIRC.

Traditionally they were probably part of a tunic or coat and just left untucked.

I'm fairly certain I have not replied to this thread before. I preferred to just leave it up to the artists. However, I was at another forum and someone had posted the CoH Steampunk Pack PR video, which I'd never seen before. Seeing it brought back some golden memories indeed!

My three favorite costume sets in CoX were the pieces included in Wizards/Witches, Gunslinger/Old West, and Steampunk. Once I had those three sets I almost never used anything else. They became the core of my design themes. I might add a few of the Asian-themed pieces for accents (like the Japanese bun and hair pins), but only sparingly.

It might be far too late in the production cycle, but if possible, I'd like to see as much 19th Century fashion as its possible to include, along with hats, coats and skirts for making convincing wizards and witches.

Technically - it's never going to be too late in the production cycle (well unless MWM folds) - they are going to keep releasing costumes, animations, themes, etc., as long as the game is active. So even if it's not in by launch they are going to be looking for new stuff to make and release afterwards. We just have to keep bugging them until they get it in the game ;^)

In honor of the passing of Sir Roger Moore I'd suggest for CoT pretty much any of the costume based gadgets from the James Bond movies.

Yeah, it would look as if any time the character raised their arms, even a bit, that it could clip since it covers all of the shoulders and upper arms.

I'd imagine that owlman cape would work like a regular cape attached the Egyptian chest style from DCUO. In other words, make it like you would a regular cape but the parts around the chest, neck and shoulders just like a normal, none moving costume piece. I mean that picture came from a comic book, it should be possible in CoT at least once

The vest and top should be two separate pieces.

Arcanist versions of props/weapons like the staff above with like fire n'stuff. glowing gems, or a gnarly staff with a raw crystal tha glows (like Gandalf had).

arcane stuff goes to costumes as well. like capes with tall collars and glowy bits/hem lines/symbols. The key is glowy stuff.

High tech stuff also lends well to costumes.
A staff with buttons, controls and glowy bits like lightning at the end, or a light staff where the end is a six inch solid lantern.

glowing circuitry on spandex and capes. mix with arcane stuff and you gave a technomage.

Now, Fleshforge did promise cleavage as a consolation prize for no Jiggle. so never say never. COH had a lot of cleavage. its part of comics.
I doubt political correctness will ruin this game.

We already know there will be bikinis in game. We know there will be spandex and chest sliders. cleavage is just the other side of the same coin.
and from the COH servers I was on, i saw it only sparingly. I am not worried.

I don't know. This is a game where we can shoot or burn villains until they keel over...I think that outweighs a little skin in the offensive department.

Stumbled across this on a site completely unrelated to City of Titans (because it turns out it's something being developed for a porn game(!) rather than a T for Teen game). The development is happening in UE4 ... which would seem to be slightly relevant to what's going on with City of Titans.

So here's a cropped image of the character profile (to remove the porn game words on the right).

Yeah, it's a character being developed for a porn game made in UE4. [b]SO WHAT? [i]Look at that costume design![/i][/b] Look at those feathered wings (and tail!). Just LOOKING at that, if FEELS like "this character is meant to fly!"

THIS image is the reason why I'm posting this here, rather than elsewhere ... because that costume design is just Too Inspiring™ to not share! You just look at it and you can FEEL "the wind beneath your wings" even while standing still on the ground!

And ... yes ... actually ... she does fly ... in UE4. In fact, the developer of this character was so kind as to create some game control demos and put them on youtube (no naughty visuals, mild profanity warning in the audio though when screwing up use of the controls). To put it mildly, the flight behavior is [b]even better than[/b] what we got in City of Heroes ... and I do not offer such praise lightly ... because UE4 has a better physics engine to work with than City of Heroes had. Have a look in this 13 minute video (watch in full screen for best effect) to see what kind of Winged Flight Using A Human you can get up to in UE4. One of my favorite things about this video is watching the "flutter" movement on the trailing wing feathers while the character is gliding and not "pumping" her wings to gain flight speed.

A little over 3 months later, the developer made another video showing how the system "works" under the hood, including revealing the Blueprints (starting at 5 minutes in to the 1h18m video) which I figure would be of interest to anyone working on Flight Movement Powers for City of Titans (specifically, ornithopter styled flight requiring continued forward motion to keep flying and gliding).

It's not [i]exactly[/i] a Sam Lowry, Dream Warrior styled costume swiped from Brazil (which was more mechanical than Icarus-like in its aspects), but it's the same general sort of thing, where the wingspan greatly exceeds the span of the arms.

Yes, that is a discussion for another thread. Hover/Fly as was done in City of Heroes was an "ignore gravity" sort of thing which allowed you to (in effect) float in the air regardless of movement. The type of ornithoper styled "beat your wings" to add thrust or just spread them to glide would be an alternative that could potentially exist in the middle of those. Hover had a low Endurance Cost but also featured a low speed with "turn on a dime" control. Fly had a high Endurance Cost and high speed but poor control of movement (cornering and turns were "sloppy" compared to Hover). Something like this kind of ornithopter inspired movement style could feature low Endurance Cost while gliding and high(er) Endurance Cost while thrusting/beating the wings, meaning that ideally you want to have a more "bird-like" cycle of climb/glide/climb/glide where you aren't beating your wings full time. It really comes down to a transit versus loiter type of aerial movement, where the former is all about going from Point A to Point B while the latter is all about "hanging in the sky the way that bricks don't" so you can hover and look around freely. But yes, that's a discussion that belongs in a different thread.

As (already) noted, the game that character is being developed for is [b]definitely[/b] a porn oriented game. The "game" is called Wild Life (not so polite cough), and I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone else go hunting for more info about it (except maybe, Lothic, for the jiggle physics that will be used in it). The "world" you're seeing in the video I posted was something the developer bought off the UE4 store for like 10€ and it's just a 2km by 2km pre-made arid environment that the developer was using as a location to test flying around in that had convenient elevations and canyons. Nothing all that remarkable about the terrain you can see, other than perhaps the "man made" elements of it like the road, telephone poles, windmills and abandoned buildings.

No, the real thing that I took away from that flying girl video was the COSTUME(!) and the relative simplicity of adding only 3 "forces" into the game to produce the necessary behavioral results when playing. After that it's just Art and Animations. That then lets you know that this sort of thing CAN BE DONE ... which then leads to the follow up question ... would City of Titans want to do this too? (The flying/gliding part, not the porn part). If they do want to do something like this in City of Titans, they could potentially even contact the developer directly and negotiate for the relevant assets that would be better to buy than to parallel develop, meaning ... options. That's a very different thing from not knowing whether or not something like this sort of ornithopter styled flight (and/or costuming) is even possible, let alone practical, in the context of how City of Titans is being designed to work and function under the hood.

I'd like to see a promotion for the avatar builder that was comprised of reproductions of iconic images or videos.

For example:

I like the idea as a stepping stone to show what can be accomplished. I'd be cautious about using any subjects that could be copyrighted or have strong political or religious ties.
Maybe create something similar (in spirit) to an established character in another video game franchise then punch it up one or two notches to show how this game is only limited by your imagination.

A few different concepts that I've had floating around for a long time just coalesced into a story line that I really like. To put him in CoT he'll need to get ahold of/fight with some form of boar/winged spear between 6-8 foot. It could be historical or more fantasy like the one in Dragonslayer.
