I'd like decent mech armor style pieces. I don't expect to get a motorcycle travel power, but I can always RP that, but would love armor pieces that can passably mimic transformal motorcycle armor (or even just car/jet armor too!)
So do you want CoT to have Dangerously Short Skirts or have you considered whether UE4 can handle Magic Skirts or not? ;)

I always thought that the animal pieces in Champions Online needed more love. Human faces could contain robotic eye plates and such, would be cool if the animal heads had cyborg options. Part cyborg, part animal sort of thing; or more robotic/mech animal options in general. CO had the mechanical dragon head, but that was about it.

So, something that consistently bugs me about choices of power armor in games, with few exceptions, is that it's all sleek. Now, I get that Sleek tends to look finished, look good, but sometimes, I'd prefer something more... brutal. Something that looks more like the person wearing it is going to pound you into the dirt with his fists. Something hard looking, angular, military, that sort of thing.
I spent a bit looking for examples of what I meant, and found a guy on deviantart called "StTheo" who does almost exclusively the type of work I mean. Picked out a few choice images for the sort of thing I mean; angular armor with sharp edges and a very military feel to them. there's also a couple outright robots towards the end, because while robots will generally be humanoid, that doesn't mean they have to be human shaped. They've also got some examples of military gear and/or clothing hanging off them, which would be a cool addition.
http://imgur.com/a/rauxr
If you want to see his deviantart, it's here:
http://sttheo.deviantart.com/
I feel like "sleek" isn't always a good thing when it comes to armor of this sort - I much prefer heavy, functional gear myself, and there's definitely a place for "put together in a scrap heap", particularly for someone who's just starting out, and the typical sleek aesthetic doesn't work for those. there's also villains, who want something to be more effective than showy; for example, a soldier come home from a war with powers. A tinker who doesn't have the funding for more than scrap from the local junkyard. That sort of thing. It's just about having breadth of choice, you know?
An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".
If they could keep the Helmets proportional, avoid doing the Stargate thing with some of the goa'uld armored soldiers..

Oh, another request from me - I'd really love for there to be truly bulky robes in the game. Like, you look at CoH, and the closest you got to bulky robes was the Circle of Thorns stuff, which was baggy pants and a baggy shirt, for the most part. I personally am looking for something a bit closer to what Black Desert developed for their wizard class, because it's a sorely underrepresented clothing style. Here's an example of what i mean. Note that the belt going under the outer robe, rather than over it; for some reason, that seems really important to me.
I'm a fan of bulky robes for several reasons. the first is because they're one of the very few outfits that can be totally concealing of the body within without looking bad. The robe is also classically well embroidered, allowing players to figure out what sort of design they want on a surprisingly large canvas that emblems on the chest or something just don't quite match up to. Even the hem of the robe can be interesting; the bottom of the robe can hang in tatters, can be straight, be embroidered, can hang in several tails, lots of things.
An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".
Hmmm I just thought of something interesting. You remember how back in CoH/V when you hit Level 30 you would have the option to give your character an aura after you did a traditional ''Earn your threads'' type of mission? The auras were pretty much only restricted to the characters eyes...but maybe that can be expanded upon
Is it possible to extend that to certain pieces of clothing? Like say capes and trenchcoats for example? Or how about other body parts like hair (If you want flaming hair, or hair made out of shadows, or hair made out of water, or light etc.)
That would be a very cool costume piece to mess around with if it's even possible to make....
I also would love robes as suggested by the above poster. I wanted robes for years for my necromancer mastermind....

Auras were actually quite expansive.....and not restricted to the eyes. I remember reading that auras will be in CoT as well...maybe not as many at launch (if any) but fairly soo there should be a decent selection.
I know this is out of context, but made me think about using Sliders to control the length of Capes Trench Coats, Scarves, etc...
even if the difference was just 1 or 2 feet... well, using Morph Targets... which might stretch/squash the texture you are trying to elongate/shorten. Not sure if that would look good. Might depend of the texture in question, if it has lots of patters, it could be very noticeable. :( For other textures, it might look just ok. :)
A number of capes, if i recall, didnt use any tiled textures, it was one large vertical strip. Since the mesh it will go on has to be comprised of all shared vertices (not sure) since Cape Physics need to be applies as well. (which i dont know much about). :P
This is obviously a larger conversation, but there are a few type of textures. Hardwired overlays, which are patters like a big 'X' on your cape or things simulate a 3d object like chains or buckles. Then there are mats which are procedural textures that simulate texture like leather or silk.
Mats can be used on a cape that has morphs with very little noticeable change (requires this to be programed into the CC to begin with).
Simple hardwired overlays sadly will be noticeably changed by morphs. But I am not sure this is a huge issue. Capes do not usually have elaborate overlays. Its when you have a texture/bump that simulates 3d objects like buckles, chains, rope. Those are VERY tough to make scalable. You start stretching those and you quickly notice the difference.
I remember reading somewhere that we will have the ability to apply scalable/positionable overlays similar to APB's clothing/tattoo creator. With that simple designs should be fairly easy to work into capes.
I honestly don't remember exactly all of what you could do with them. I just remember them usually being attached to the head area usually.

And, i still have a scarf flapping to get that sense of momentum when moving around. :)

Reviving this thread with the point of Asymmetry.
With a few exceptions, most CoX costume pieces were basically left-right symmetrical. We did eventually get some asymmetrical options with robotic arms and whatnot, but these were limited. I'm hoping to build at least 1 character that is strongly asymmetrical across nearly the entire character, so I hope this is allowed by the character creator.
Sic Semper Tyrannis
Trout, I believe they already said they're doing that. Gave the example of a cybernetic arm with the sleeve rolled up on one side, but the sleeve rolled down on the other side over a normal arm.
I'm happy for it myself.

DITTO!
Robes were horribly underused in CoH. What bothered me was that groups like CoT had a variety of robes, none of which toons could have.
City of Titans needs to take a better approach on robes.

Various helmet styles along with different visors, accessories too like in CoH!
Understanding the first outfits will be spandex related, I want cleavage, various neck/collar options, and shoulder pad options.
Notice the elaborate collar here, she has a choker that matches the leather outfit, its has an emblem/logo, and the outfit still has an upturned collar to frame it.
and the shoulder pads, with glowing stuff! I love glowing stuff. Please include glowing stuff!

Maybe their heads are a bit long, but maybe a neck slider could fix that.

About Hair!
I don't remember if I requested this before. I might have! I just can't seem to find it.
Please, let's have hair in Two (or more) pieces. One piece is for 'above the ears' and one piece for 'the ears and below'. These two pieces of hair should certainly blend and combine into whatever wonderful hair-do designs the Devs come up with. However, if one adds a Hat, then only the Top hair-piece needs to be removed and characters can keep their lovely hair and still wear a hat.
In too many games, if a character puts on a hat, or bandana, or half-helmet, then they immediately get a savage haircut, or some bit a drapery is added to cover up their hair. Wear a hat equals lose your hair and that's not Right!
Even better, if the two-part hairstyle was Embraced, then we could create many 'custom' hairstyles by mixing different hair-pieces. Males and females could share hair-piece libraries, too.
Be Well!

This is a pretty good idea. IIRC, Fallout 4 actually does something like this with its hair options. That game offers what seems like hundreds of hair styles but what's really going on is that there's maybe only 20 individual default "styles" but the rest are created by meshing two of the styles together on different parts of the head. Some of the combos clearly work better than others, but it's a clever way to "double-up" on the options they provide.
The part about letting this work for people with hats is great too. That was a major point of complaint back in CoH - due to the limitations of the game a hat would basically render you completely bald and you had to hope it completely covered the bits of your head you wanted covered.

Oh yeah. I always hated how in most MMOs, not just CoH, that hats and head coverings completely do away with any hair that the character has. That always has bothered me. It never quite made sense to me too as their is a decently noticeable amount of hero characters out there that wear headgear that does not cover their hair. I mean I know it isn't practical but then again this is flashy superheroes/villains we are talking about here.

Not quite the same thing.
For some hats, they just removed the hair altogether. But for many of the newer hats and hairstyles, they did make them compatible. I just tested out the Warrior Braid hairstyle (one of the Themyscira special bundle styles) with a ballcap and the two looked perfect together. It looks like they replaced the upper portion of the hair with the ballcap and it looks like the long full braid actually comes out from under the cap rather than just clipping through it. It also worked with some of the other hats, like the leprechaun hat. But if you put on the biker's spiked helmet the hair disappears altogether like any other hairstyle does, so there are some hats they never got around to making compatible with hair.
But here's the big difference between DCUO and CoT: in DCUO the hair is static plastic. It has no physics. So a simple replacement of one static mesh in the shape of a head of hair with another mesh in the shape of a hat with a matching portion of hair poking out is all they had to do.
In CoX the hair will have volume and physics and will flow and fall. How will we constrain it when we're wearing hats? How will someone with an afro put on a ballcap?
I won't presume to know how we are going to deal with hats in our game, but I expect some hairstyles just won't be compatible with some hats. How could someone with Jeannie hair wear any kind of hat other than this one?
I don't think it would be viewed poorly by the players if the game gave you a notice that "you will have to modify your hair if you wish to wear this hat, here are a few suggestions that would work."

In the currently closed beta of Revelation Online, they do something interesting with the eyes. They give us the option of choosing the look of the reflected glare on our eyes. The shape and color of the reflection can be chosen. In combination with the various iris shapes and colors of the iris, it gives a very good mix of possibilities. I like it.
In the following video, you can see this at the 4:30 mark.
We have heard that our eyes will be a simple texture over a static sphere. Will our our eyes will be a reflective material such that they actually reflect the light of our environment? If not, I would recommend we adopt this kind of glare customization. I think it gives an extra little something with a good effect.

I agree with you Radiac. I had over 100 characters on different servers and never minded running the missions. I played with a group of friends from all over the country and we would just "do it". I would like to be able to hold my head in my hand/s. For instance, being headless is getting easier these days, but add to that the option of holding a flaming pumpkin or a ghostly skull hanging from chains, or just a severed head held in both hands (also moved down into the chest area). Optimally, it would be great to be able to create the head held using the same options as for the head on the character creator, though that may be a bit complex... unless there were a way to just cut/paste the head from one area of the body to another.
"Being able to remove one's head is the norm. There is a whole room in the next castle that is just filled with the lovely heads of various ladies. Would you like to see it? You can see their headless bodies dancing yet motionless in the court yard."
Inspirations include, but are not limited to: The Headless Horseman, Labyrinth, Reanimator, Kingdom Hospital, others...
Camelot Unchained is making the Bean Sidhe (pronounced Banshee) a playable race, and they have a class called a Black Rider that takes advantage of the detached head, as you can see in some of the sample powers in the linked website. Because it is a shapeshifter, I don't think the race is limited to BeanSidhe.
Why am I linking to another game? Just to show that the idea is out there and some game studio thinks it is doable. So it could be a real consideration for CoT as well. (how to deal with the unique animations that would need to be made for what really is a costume choice is another matter)

I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier... shoulder pets!
If we're going to have pets be a point of origin for powers then it stands to reason that you could choose your pet design, and if you can choose your pet design, why couldn't we have a floating head as an option.
It shouldn't be too difficult to make headless options that look like flames bursting from your neck, or some other suitable look.
So if you want to be a headless person with a floating head, then choose a headless option and choose a shoulder pet that is a floating head. Tada! you got your Dulluhan!

I'd be amazed if they didn't include the classic "angel and devil" wings in CoT. These were the first type of wings available in CoH so they almost have to be among the first available in CoT as well.
I'd be in favor of having any sort of "sci-fi bikini" style costume items in CoT.
People have suggested having transparent body parts before. I have nothing against the idea but it's possible they'd prevent people from using them during PvP for obvious reasons.
I always had a guilty pleasure for the original 70s era Electra Woman and Dyna Girl. It was a very campy Saturday morning kids show that was pretty much an exact clone of the 60s era Batman and Robin cult-classic except with female leads. Like Bats and Robin they had no inherent superpowers but used all sorts of gadgets and "crime computers" to fight crime. Their main go-to gadgets were their ElectraComs which were these silly, clunky box shaped gauntlets they wore on their left wrists.

These gizmos did practically anything/everything you could imagine - it seemed like every episode they'd dream up yet another completely new kind of power the ElectraComs could do. So I'd love CoT to provide several wrist-based techno-gadget devices like that as costume items to be able to create proper Electra Woman and Dyna Girl homage characters.

Champions online has this. When I saw your post I immediately thought CO because I have no idea of the origins.
My suggestion is various material choices for the costumes
Fire, Frost, Water, and so on.
As a child, I thought my name was handsome, cause that is what everyone called me.
It's a plague doctor.
I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.
I talked about this before but triple and dual creature heads. champions online and dcu had creature heads but you could not necessarily do much to them, they were pretty static. In CO however you could add accessories on it. I think it would be cool to have a few static multi head options for humans and creatures which you can add accessories to.

I remember that show!
Superhero shows on TV were so rare at that time that a lot could be forgiven - like Cathy Lee Crosby's Wonder Woman (in a blue track suit). Particularly if you were less than 10 years old.
They even did a mini-series reboot of it 2016 but I never saw it.
Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, that is. Cathy Lee Crosby's Wonder Woman was completely eclipsed by Linda Carter and has remained mercifully all but forgotten.
The concept of some sort of Super Gauntlet which is as versatile as a tricorder has a lot of appeal. One of my toons in CO has just such a setup with a gauntlet on one wrist and using it for all the emanation points.
I'd love to be able to dial that concept up to "11".
"I don't think you understand the gravity of your situation."
They actually tried to reboot the show back in 2001 with Markie Post playing Electra Woman but all they managed at that point was a pretty weak pilot episode. It's on YouTube if you're interested.

The 2016 movie/mini-series was actually fairly good (considering the very low budget they had to work with and the campy source material). I'd seriously recommend it if you liked things like the Kick-Ass movies or even Deadpool because it had similar kinds of 4th-wall breaking "self-aware" humor.

Yeah the Cathy Lee Crosby Wonder Woman was so bad it was Not Even Wrong.
Yep. I have to assume something like this will be doable in CoT.

Something I like about CO, and would love to see in CoT, is their mix-and-match approach to auras. Not so much that each aura is only good for one toon and mostly either on the cash shop or worse, box locked.

CoH let you assign a different aura to every costume slot. I had characters who had 10 different costumes and 10 different auras ready to go. Does CO offer more flexibility than that?

Yep, you have up to eight aura slots. Four that are always on and four for whenever you are in combat stance. Although new toons have only one of each unlocked... the rest costs money, on a per character basis.
For example, here's Spookjob.

On the left is how he looks without any auras (on the char select screen) the middle two are his normal auras (3, one of which is invisibility) and on the right with the combat auras added (4 more).
Since I can't really see the costume, just it's outline as highlighted by the auras and Fire Flight, I didn't bother to color him... so he's almost all black =P

Well that certainly sounds interesting. I stopped playing CO about six months after its launch so I assume this multi-aura thing was added sometime after that.
CoH had the ability to set each of their auras to "on all the time" or "switch on only during combat" and many of the auras could be targeted to certain areas of the body (i.e. hands only, head only, full body, etc.). Given the number of costume slots you could have (up to 10 per character) it seems that CoH could have at least "simulated" what you're talking about using multiple costume slots with identical costumes and different auras. Not saying what you're talking about here is a bad idea - I'm just saying that if they decide to make CoT work exactly like CoH did in regards to auras then I think you could "kind of" do what you're talking about.
Ideally CoT will give us a multi-aura deal like your suggesting. But if they don't I'm just pointing out what the likely alternative will be.

I'd be amazed if they didn't plan for this already (at least for the basic colors). But I can think of two other related ideas that might be cool to add to this.
One could be the ability to have some multi-color shading. Instead of just a single solid color maybe we could have two colors that could blend together like this:

Another cool idea is to have an extra slider to control the amount of "glossiness" of the lips so you could go anywhere from super glossy to super matte.

Honestly I'd like to see all of the makeup options for both genders. Whenever possible I tend to use "guyliner" on my characters (sometimes even in multiple styles and shades at once). It's a great way to make their eyes pop.
COH had some pregenerated makeup sets for the gals that was convenient. While being able to spend hours on a face is nice, I would like to get a few basic sets of eye liner/eye shadow, lipstick options ready for a simple click, pick your colors, and go.
thanks

Not just makeup but all clothes and such as well, yes even "male/female cut". In the long run I don't see why there should be male or female exclusives in that regard.
There was some discussion earlier about wraparound capes and why it would be too difficult to incorporate them without clipping.
I was watching the latest episode of Granblue Fantasy the Animation, and I noticed that Katalina has her cape actually attached to her pauldrons. I find it to be an attractive look and I wonder if we could do something similar in CoT with some of the different pauldrons we get to have in our Avatar Creator.
Notice also the skirt-like surcoat she's wearing, and that it has no upperbody portion to it. So would you call it a waist-cape? Whatever it is, I think it should also be a costume option.
I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.
Butt-capes and wrap-around cloak? Put me down for sashes too!
Sashes? like this?
or like this?

I'm pretty sure the Devs of CoT have already told us here in the forums they intend to have no "female only" or "male only" limitations where it comes to costume items. I assume that would carryover to any makeup options as well.
I trust that they'll at least try to stick to that promise because they seem genuinely committed to having as much costume design freedom as possible.

P.S. Quick historical trivia - Hose/tights were originally designed as MEN's clothing. It was only much later when women started wearing them.

Not sure if this has been requested, but I would like an "Uncle Ben" spiderman variation jumpsuit, not exactly the same, but that baggy style.
As foolish as this seems,

Put me down for sashes too. Bonus points for sashes you can decorate: like that early update I keep mentioned where decals and such can be scaled and translated.

The best thing about Katalina's costuming is that the armor she's wearing is obviously intended to provide PROTECTION first and foremost, rather than just being made for sex appeal. Yes, the chest piece is obviously designed to be worn by a female, but it's also designed in such a way as to deflect blows to the chest AWAY FROM the center of the chest, rather than towards the center (which is what you get with a "twin lumps" design of chest armor). That very simple change/update to the armor design then subliminally conveys that the woman wearing this armor is Competent And Professional supported by a military culture that knows how to keep women ALIVE through combat rather than using them as props for eye candy only.
Very much a Form Follows Function sort of deal that is all too rare to see these days.

I noticed that too, it's still boob plates, but the cross in the front does attempt to direct force away from the sternum. Still, a strike above or below the cross would break ribs easily.
