Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Examples

You need something to hold your super gadgets in and spandex, and most women's pants, don't have pockets.

I like that image of Wonder Woman she looks huge and buff. Or maybe Super Girl just looks tiny.

Kinda reminds me of New Frontier Wonder Woman where she was taller than supes.

Nebezial draws her big, as she should be drawn imo... she's a frickin' amazon, might as well look like a warrior.
This is also my main complaint about Gal Gadot WW, WB should've cast Gina Carano instead.

Gal did a good job though. And the WW movie is the best of DCs recent big screen movies, though that's not saying much. Apparently she's also the best thing in Batman V Superman, but again that's not saying much.

Nope, the best thing in Batman v Superman was the Batfleck warehouse fight.
But yes, she did good... just doesn't look like someone who trained her whole life for battle.

BTT, a Highwayman coat would be a nice addition.

I'd be happy about either variant.

Helmets that can be shaped like a hair style!
The rest of the armored suit will likely be available at launch. spandex + textures and a few accessories.

So... Metal textured hair? Great for if you want to make a Colossus homage.

Don't know why you'd want a helmet that looks like hair though. Though... That'd be some bad helmet hair *rim shot*

Well textures are going to be a thing, and I never really saw any devs saying that you can't add textures to hair so... why not?

Think damaged armor plates could easily be "implemented" the same way scars and similar would be, possibly even be able to share "damaged area"-effect to some degree. The area that would add most work for this would be chipped off pieces like her helmet.

On another note, I can't imagine that such dents (back and hip) would be comfortable in such skintight armor, nor how she would actually be able to move around since the rigidity needed for such high deformations would stop her from moving.

The vest above is a must. we should have a number vests to wear. This is an entertainer;s vest and it is asymmetrical.
Note the high collar, and the shoulder things....

all good additions to the costume portfolio.

Just wanted everyone to know

Just wanted everyone to know I haven't abandoned this thread even though I haven't posted in awhile.

Long story short I work a job that has me at sea for several months of each year. While we do have Internet access our Navy/DoD based ISP unfortunately blocks out access to this specific website for reasons that are likely related to the certificate problems this website had in the past. I'm actually onboard one of the ships we work on as I type this but I'm connected via a commercial ISP while in port here in Japan. I've been working with Lin Chiao Feng to potentially resolve this unique website issue but what's important is the fact that I simply haven't been posting because I've been at sea for the last month or so.

I plan to eventually "re-summarize" everything that's been posted in this thread like I originally did last year. I'll probably be able to get around to that in a couple of months or so. Please keep posting anything related to costume suggestions you want to make and hopefully (as always) the Devs will consider everyone's ideas here for inclusion into the game. Take care. ;)

Sometimes it's just too easy...

For what it's worth I don't mind Kiyori's version of this suggestion either. :)

P.S. It's bad enough that it only took about 3 seconds to google that pic but now I find myself wanting those "milk jug" logos for CoT chest logos.

Here's the classic Monty Python sketch that coincidentally combines both "types" of jugs we've been talking about:

Yeah maybe when you pick an antenna type to use the game could provide additional slider controls which would let you scale the basic size/length of the antenna chosen. This kind of thing could apply to horns, ears and other related "appendages".

My only concern with that approach would be whether or not any skeleton bones would be needed to make that stuff look right ... because we already know that there only so many bones to go around.

I don't think Antennae would, they just sit there. If we could get them to bob around when you move that'd be nice but unnecessary.

Tails would probably need some kind of structure to them. But hopefully tails have already been considered and accounted for.

Yeah it's always good to consider when newly suggested features/options might require extra body model "skeleton bones" but as Project_Hero mentioned as long as these things remain static I wouldn't think they would require extra bones. If you wanted "floppy" antennae then you'd probably need extra bones for that even if players did NOT have the ability to re-scale them as I've suggested.

I wasn't suggesting making anything "animated" with my scaling suggestion. I was focused mainly on antennae, horns and ears. If anything I'd probably be more worried about new types of clipping arising from this than whether or not these things would require extra bones to implement.

Project_Hero wrote:

Yes I would assume animated tails would require bones to make them work and it seems highly unlikely that they have -not- been accounted for already. CoH started out with static tails and eventually added several styles of animated tails. If CoT does not provide animated tails that would be a very overt step backwards in the types of options available to us.

Somewhere back on TTWMNBN, Dr. T mentioned that we had bones budgeted for tails. That could change, granted.

Anyway, the general rule of thumb is that if some part of the model needs to move independently of the part it’s attached to, it probably needs a bone. So: Star Trek TOS Andorian antennae: no bone, and Star Trek Enterprise Andorian antennae: bones.

Has anyone seen my mind? It was right here...

So you're basically saying it only took Star Trek about 35 years to evolve new bones in a humanoid species. That's pretty quick. ;)

Computer graphics animators consider themselves clever with their "bones". But what they really need to do is invent the computer animation equivalent of "fat". That might sound funny but if animators could install various volumes of "digital fat" into strategic places in body models all sorts of things could be solved/simplified.

Not sure if I've put in a

Not sure if I've put in a request like this before; I don't want to dig up the old costume thread and dig through it at length to find out, but it wasn't in the summary at the start of the thread.

Specifically, what I'm looking for is "Monstrous but Human faces". They've got that additional uncanny valley appeal that's really great, and drive home the monstrous angle a lot better than stuff like minotaurs or other animal-headed beings; they're very clearly human, but not quite, rather than probably being something else entirely. Killer Croc of Batman fame is probably the best example of that sort of thing, and it works for both villains that are looking for somewhat grittier storytelling, or heroes that are trying to keep above being bestial

An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".

Well no they're a Chinese vampire and the paper is there because they're mostly created by monks trying to make it so the dead spirit can be buried in their home town, though sometimes they would break off and go on a rampage.

At this point I simply think it's fascinating how irrationally divisive that silly topic ended up being.

P.S. For what it's worth I will continue to enjoy the non-intuitive irony that you need "bones" to make something "floppy" in computer animation. Stop looking for negativity where none was intended.

You need bones to make things move - anyone who has studied Anatomy knows that! Otherwise, you can only flop around like a jellyfish. I don't think anyone wants to see That! So the (in)famous thread ended when the animators finally admitted that they just didn't have enough bones. There was protest and name-calling, but that did basically end the argument.

Well in pathetic attempt to

Well in a pathetic attempt to try to convince people I don't actually have a one track mind I'll throw out a couple of small costume suggestions for CoT that I'm reasonably sure no one's made yet:

The first comes straight from watching the new Star Trek Discovery show. There's a humanoid alien character on it named Saru who has some feet that are somewhat "hoof" like. The net effect has him walking around in heelless hoof boots:

I don't think the art Devs would have to treat this like a non-humanoid foot for CoT - it would seem like this could be implemented as a normal human foot wearing high-heeled platform boots with an "invisible" non-existent heel. We have to assume the Devs are already having to account for the current body models wearing high-heeled shoes/boots so again it doesn't seem like this would be extremely complicated. For what it's worth this kind of boot has existed for a long time in real life in the form of various "hoof boots":

The other suggestion is just the basic idea of allowing our wings to wrap around our characters when we are standing still. I think this has been suggested for capes but I just wanted to make sure this was thrown in for wings too:

At least having a costume

At least having a costume option for capes that look like they are wings wrapped around would work. Then you can just have 2 costumes; wings and cape wings.

Edit: put the wrong image in here.

Yeah that might work. I wouldn't think that all wing types could do this - clearly it would only make sense for very large/long wing types. Maybe if a type of wing is long enough the "wraparound" animation could be enabled by a contextual emote that would only work if you were "equipped' with the right type of wings.

Corporate logos for out more

Corporate logos for out more capitalist heroes. These logos are from existing Titan City businesses. (artists, just copy the names of logos and make them small).

And we need to place them anywhere on our costumes. Lots of logos mean more advertising dollars in our heroes pocket!

for example: Tyrosine corporation will have a logo. so will the Amerikatt Vets Association. Both will have patches i can sew onto my spandex.

So, I saw in the recap there

So, I saw in the recap there was a bit of a suggestion for Punk Jewelry. Which is good but I think could go a lot farther. I suspect we'll get some of these things by dint of having street punk NPCs. Anyway here are some other punk suggestions. These are just punk. Not cyberpunk or steampunk.

There's a common thread in the hair I think. The broad strokes are easy, I wonder if MWM can capture some of the details. The buttons and pins. The jewelry, piercings, logos, hopefully I can find some nice things for Lil Sis to wear.

Various full helmet types.

Various full helmet types. Champions always killed me with how every helmet was either Comedic, Robot, or Face Shield. It feels horrible with how Nightmare looks with his cheap looking face shield and not the imposing helmet with eyes and tech mouthguard that only adds to the overall design.

What would be cool would be if most of the CoH costume parts were recreated in some fashion. I can't imagine it'd open yourself to being sued by NCSoft.

Revenge is motivation enough. At least it's honest...

1) I like the hood, it doesn't conceal the face, and it holds an interesting shape.
2) I love how the hood blends into the jacket. the dual stripes on the hood tie both together. Further the hood is OPEN at the neck, making it work much better with the jacket.
3) the mask. awesome. the fang design and glowy eyes make this an awesome combo
4) the glowy/iridescent green highlights the black suit perfectly.

this is the first hood I have seen that I would use.

even barbarians need love.
1) fur accents, asymmetrical. ragged just like a barbarian using every last scrap. Note the boots are wrapped in fur with asymmetrical strapping/
2) gratuitous leather straps...no reason...just overdone with straps. I like it.
3) loin cloth. always good for so many outfits.
4) armor bits don't match and are trimmed with fur. Fur trimmed armor is a must!
5) massive melee weapon in an ornate sheath, also with unneeded gratuitous strapping.
6) leather halter top and bare midriff. standard barbarian chick wardrobe.

Hopefully we can get some other variations of fangy masks too.

Now this is an interesting powersuit, very complicated and busy. but I really like it.
It looks very different from the bulky and smooth powersuits in other games.
this comes across as an unfinished prototype. very different.

I can see an underlying suit and a million add on accessories, every player incarnation looking different.

and does the red underlay come across as artificial muscle to you?

1 and 6) Because nothing says Low Tech Ice Age Warrior better than fur pelts and bare skin for maximum sexploitation appeal of the female (and male) form(s). Impractical AND drafty, while making sure to leave the most vital areas unprotected! To be fair, only a superpowered individual could pull this off. ^_~

5) That woman is never going to get that sword out of that sheath using only 1 hand. That sword is at least twice as long as her arm, so when she draws it, at least half the blade will still be trapped in the sheath. So then she has to reach around (no pun) with her left hand to hold the BLADE of the sword so that she can reach LOWER on the blade with her right hand and keep pulling the sword out in a hand over hand motion, at the end of which she's holding the sword by the "wrong end" with the heavy part of the guard/tang/pommel pretty far away from her OVERHEAD off to the right and wanting to tip over (dangerously!) in a sort of "Timber!" moment either forwards, backwards or off to the right while she's holding the blade IN HER HANDS trying to resist a lot of torque energy being gratuitously applied by Gravity (every female barbarian's worst enemy!). So once she's gotten the blade out of the over the shoulder scabbard, she's going to need to flip the sword over while moving her hands hand over hand AGAIN up the blade until she can reach the handle and grasp the blade between the guard and the pommel (preferably with both hands) so as to aim the pointy/sharp bits of the sword away from her for the first time. Try this for real, even with a "Special powers were revealed to me the day I held aloft my PLASTIC Sword and yelled, 'By the powers of Playskool!'" prop, this would look quite ridiculous to animate, having a lot in common with a magician pulling an endless streamer from a pocket stage trick.

In terms of Eye Candy, I'll certainly agree with you that this kind of costume has a lot going for it ... but mainly as fetish wear, rather than as anything practical. That said, the comic book genre is often far more concerned with eye candy, particularly of the wildly impractical variety, than it is with practicality ... so that shouldn't be any bar against including the options into a superheroic setting like City of Titans. ^_~
