Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.

As for power levels, I would say Andy is a Yellow 7, Portia is a Green 6, Mr. Al-Zawari is a Blue 8, Dr. Tennant is a Blue 10, and Roxanne is a Yellow 10.
However, Roxanne is a bit hard to classify. She has powers, utility magic, loads of deadly toys, and centuries upon centuries of training / experience. The score I gave her is for just her powers and magic.

Tobias is 16, Kami's almost 12, will be in february, or approximately, Terry's 18 in his senior year.
Tonbo the counselor's Eighty six? Yeah, looks about twenty five or so. Score about green nine, maybe someday blue ten.
Sebastian is 16, situations were he would use some of his powers are very limited. Dark Magic and Reanimation would be the main powers....as for most necromancers out there

Now that there's a lull in the things I have to do, I think I'll try and jump back into the thread.

You haven't missed much, as far as I know. A few new students and staff have been added into the mix (Which brought along the addition of a character roster forum). Other than that, there was a fiasco with one of the new students, Kami, panicked during an evaluation and caused a dimensional rift into a pocket dimension. That's just ended and things are settling back into routine. :)

Almost nothing has happened in the primary Danger Room because of the absence of Gladatoria. I say almost nothing, because they were forced to evacuate during the black bubble crisis. Their instructor also mysteriously disappeared just before a heroine by the name of Nightstrike showed up. I'm sure the two of them have nothing to do with each other.
So currently, Alicia and the rest of the hero training class are in the hallway outside of the D-Room.

There was more specific, Bucky kinda does his own teleport thing, no one's looking, he can go where ever no one is looking, so he kind of just steps out of sight and appears somewhere else out of sight. And walks through walls, that are just plain walls, I'm sure other walls are much harder.
And that's why Sings had to turn his head, 'cause Bucky arrived behind him.
It's a Heisenberg thing. He needs rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty.

Not to poke holes Rott, but would a Phys. Ed. class, even one for metahumans, teach students how to throw a punch? I think that'd be reserved for either the hero training program or a boxing elective. But that's just my opinion.

I can see boxing as something they would teach. It's a valid sport, that and wrestling, not sure what else counts under the umbrella, Kendo? Kendo's considered a sport, lots of martial arts clubs in japan, but this is america, so that may be out... Is it? Ohhh cluuubs... We need a fencing club. ::Nod:: And reading club...
I did get some wrestling in high school, in regular Phys Ed classes...

One of the things that class session going to focus on is Pulling punches. When you have a student who could quite literally knock someone's head off teaching them how to safely throw a punch and how to control enough force to do what's needed without lethal damage I can see being taught.
In many ways I can see this class following lines of a martial arts class. Control and restraint.

LeadWanderer, so which (if any) of the Nordic Álfar are you wanting for Kami's ancestry? Descriptions seem to be rather scarce, and sketchy when present, here on Midgard. I'm thinking Ljósálfar is out (or at least not more than a few branches of the ances-tree), if her skin is darker, but beyond that...

I think we need to hammer out what Hel's realm is like. What groups are where and such. Having two minds both using Norse Hel as a basis for their characters!

I was thinking the Svartalfar to be honest, though they seem to have the sparcest details, except that their place of origin was around svartalheim, though that would mean they were far outside their place of origin. Since most think the Norse were talking about real places there's some ambiguity about some place Hel, Niflheim and Niflhel cross concepts and are in some cases referenced in the same passages. The other race I considered were the Niflungar, though I don't think they're elves, I think they and the Svartalfar are actually both described as dwarven, Kami is kind of short though....
As for who has domain, we really should discuss it... Given that the sick and old aged are the ones held there, it seems like demons may not be logical. Though if the realms cross one another then that means there's room for ambiguity, lost souls, demons moving from the other darker realms. Though I can't find much reference to demons, I may not be looking in the right places?
I've tried doing as much research as I could on the idea, honestly I can't find a place other than Valhala and Hel that are refered to as afterlives, where would the others go, and are the souls of the dead the only thing there? Seems odd, atleast to me, for any plane to exist without natives.
The Hel I imagined was a bit of an amalgamation of lots of concepts, 'circles' being areas where souls of the various 'vices' would fall, usually incarnating as demons, as well as demons that predominately partook in them, so Tobias and Kami when to Chiron's domain. Chiron and the other demons are kind of like titles, I also borrow a little from the Terry Pratchet "Theory", old gods eventually find new jobs, though their old one still matters...
Maybe these are peripheral areas, not directly Hel itself but the surrounding area but still roughly under her domain. I read at one point that technically some other than the sick or old were sent there, or went, baldr for instance, the other I can't find, Thor basically banhammered a Jotunn and sent him down to Hel.
From what I've read the rest are a bit closer to the 'truth' of the Norse mythology than I am.
Folkvang is also an afterlife in Norse myth, similar and often interwoven with Valhalla. It's presided over by Freya, and can also be referred to as the "field of the people" or "field of warriors". Commonly, it's assumed that half of the distinguished warriors who fell in battle went to Valhalla, and half to Folkvang. In general, though, Norse mythology didn't really view death as dying as much as living in another form, on another plane.
Freya was also the one who originally brought magic, "seidr", to the gods - it being a form of altering or re-weaving destiny. The norns, however, have always been the most prominent of practitioners - who were generally called völva.

I propose this. Lets take a branch from the tree of life more or less...
Hel and the connecting afterlifes branch off from Hel's central domain. So there are more than one give or take realms under her umbrella. The main one where she is resident is more like Midgard these would be souls who weren't warriors who fell in battle but weren't dishonorable. Sick. old, died before their time due to non combat wounds. There are connections to realms deeper into darkness following a Circles of Hell concept. Each one getting more harsh and more aligned with punishment for vices. Rotten having been involved with crime and did kill someone (thought technically that could be considered fair battle to the Norse it was a challenged fight after all). So the killing would have been honorable and he would have went to valhalla in Norse terms. However he was a thief and so that dropped him down to one of the lower realms of Hel's domain. She also could have been angry at him for trying to steal the Orb and handing it over to Jutan Frost. So her punishment for him could have been more severe then standard.
This idea could give us more of a playground on the view of Hel. There the more Midgard like domain, a realm of decay (where Ron ended up), a realm of darkness (land of the dark elves perhaps?) and a few more. All leading off like branches from the starting realm of HEL so fall under her umbrella.

Baldr was effectively murdered. He thought he was in no danger, so why bother defending himself? And the Giant who got banhammered was the one who built the walls of Asgard.

One problem I think is that the name, Hell, came from meaning simply an abode of the dead in the Proto-Germanic (which may have been where Hel's domain got its name as well) to being equated with the Christian concept of a place where evil souls are sent to be punished. Hel's bad rep may also have been caused in part by Christian mythographers, and/or by biased reports of Vikings who didn't want to be bored after they died.
I would suggest that our heroes' problems identifying Kami's people and the place where she was may found be caused (at least in part) by similar mistranslation.

A possible resolution:
Let Hel's Domain be overlapping Niflheimr somewhat, and that overlapping area is Niflhel where the evil dead go. Let it also overlap others of the Nine Worlds, providing routes for the dead to reach their destination. But those routes could also be used by others, like merchants from Svartálfaheimr and fire-demons from Múspellsheimr. And with more direct and pleasant routes being unusable (See Gideon Cross's contribution to the Orbs history I first encountered [url=http://cityoftitans.com/forum/museum-heist]in this thread[/url]) both traders and raiders might have been on these dark roads...

These amalgamations or minor 'stretching' of Hel make perfect sense to me, I always imagined that the roots would seem like any other road in some sense, but straying off would be very bad.
So if I'm understanding properly Hel is Hel, sick and old go there, Niflhel being where Tobias and Kami actually went? Again, seems good to me. I don't know why they're listed in that order though. Site says it's correct but the prose examples seem to suggest that Niflheimr and Muspellsheimr were 'side by side', that Hel was between the two, and also that the realm of the Aesir and Jotunn were both at the root? I may have misinterpreted, or the nord who wrote it hadn't actually seen a tree...
We are facing two things from our view. Norse Mythology like all Thology and Mythologies change over time. At our end we are looking back trying to mesh all the ideas into one. It's like trying to mess Roman Catholics, Protestants and all the other Christian faiths into one idea. Then figuring out where the Jews and Muslims fit in because they also worship the same god. Add to that loss of information over time, distorted information (history is written by the victors after all), and destroyed information.
Tree in this case could have meant and seen as a metaphor. Branching off worlds from the central world of Midgard. How do you relay that branching off of worlds? Oh look a tree starts as a single trunk and branches out... and so on and so forth.

The trick is, finding a story that is internally consistent, plausibly the "core of truth" behind the myths as altered by the factors Rotten just mentioned, and leaves us room to hang the stories we're making off of the branches.
One thing to remember about the relative locations is, we're not looking at just three dimensions. If we collapse it into three dimensions, there will be distortion, just as collapsing a three-dimensional representation into two dimensions distorts a blueprint. If we view it a different way, some spatial relations become less clear and others more so.

@Foradain: True, theoretically we as humans can't even rationalize without serious aid, the concept of more than four dimensional axis, even that forth one is tricky since when we think about time TOO long we just realize it only makes more sense forward as it does backwards because that's how we see it, nothing we've found suggests it has to except no evidence of negative temporal 'motion'. I dunno, maybe it's just me but I get tripped up trying to think of how 4 or more dimensions could intersect at one point,usually I end up imagining something like an Astrix, or a spiral, which are probably not right.
Rotten: I also think that might be a good idea. As for your post before, you're totally right. I think it comes down to a lot of term definitions and such. I've been trying to use dimensions in the 'mathematical' sense, x, y, z, etc. Quanta is technically the term for alternate realities or the present one, not doing good at it lol.

Face it we are a bunch of Geeks techno blabbing about quantum realities involving transdimensional beings who maybe or inspired the Norse Mythology. There some leeway. Last I heard there are more or less 11 dimensions in what we call our reality. Yeah unless you're a physic major thinking beyond 4 is hard.

Okay, my busy times have gone down a bit so I can start RPing again. Now I just need to find out a way to explain Sebastian's absence for the remainder of the pocket dimension arc and why he didn't comment on anything in the gym. I have noticed that nosebleeds appearing on exhausted magic/power users is a very common trope nowadays so I decided to use that. Trying to show some of the consequences Sebastian suffered for jumping into the frey without thinking of the possible effects of his own physical health.
Of course I imagine power exhaustion would effect every metahuman individual differently.

Sounds like a good idea! There's actually a couple plots around Kami I forgot about, the manufacturers of Rune Fortress for instance, making a game that happens to work so easily and parallel the magical world, sometimes accurately. They also made the mistake of included real magical languages. I think her card magic could even already help with that, if they made a field card that basically acted as a bridge, or had the manufacturers make it I should say... Or the manufacturers could already be someone trying to tear the barrier down.

10-20 minutes of an non-stop nosebleed is very dangerous for normal humans and magical based humans (martial artists would have issues too but sheer will could probably keep them running). Power Exhaustion effects every super powered individual differently (like for example...sentient zombies such ghouls and lichs would likely experience body tissues degrading....although for zombies that only just slows them down really as they can regenerate it back) and for Sebastian the dark magic essentially pulls nutrients from his blood cells....putting his blood vessels under strain from the serious energy pulls. Usually this wouldn't be dangerous as long as the individual trains there body to undergo the strain slowly but surely but Sebastian did go overboard earlier with giant icicle frost magic which would take a lot of magical energy that his body would have little time to adjust for. Even some of the greatest magical users would likely have to take a moment of rest after using what essentially is a ''power nuke''.
And to explain how that would work with blood magic....blood magic healing wouldn't be immediate. You would have to use the nutrients turned magic to essentially magically enhance the blood cell production in the body's bone marrow. It would essentially regenerate the damaged tissues, organs, bones, and blood vessels over a small period of time. Unless you trained yourself to do it often it would still be taxing to the user.
So yeah, now he is paying the price for being flashy earlier. I hope that explains what I am doing here with something as mundane as a nosebleed.

Channeling ESSI in 'Toria's absence; this seems to me to be what ESSI would be doing for Sebastian. Not sure if she'd know just how serious this particular nosebleed is, but she may suspect more serious issues.

I think you did just fine Foradain. I was about to just have him get too the Nurse's Office so I didn't drag it out too much but this works too.
I have had serious nosebleeds before....they are not fun if the bleeding just won't stop. You can feel weak and light-headed for hours if it gets bad enough (I mentioned the 10-20 minute time frame for serious blood loss which is a real thing and I suffered from the consequences of having a nosebleed last that long).
The human body can't deal well with that amount of blood loss even when it's something as simple as a nosebleed that causes it. I have noticed that the trope for this ''A magic/power user overtaxes themselves which shows up visibly in the form of a nosebleed'' will weaken the user to the point of collapsing in minutes if not seconds but I tried to make it a wee bit more realistic for believability. I also mentioned the possibility that the blood vessels in his nose were not the only vessels that broke from his power exhaustion...
I might actually make Sebastian pass out here. I want to enact some form of character development involving one of his potential fatal flaws. I am having some fun trying to think of how metahuman biology might work...

Not sure if the Nurse's Office can handle this, but if they can, it's easier to apologize to the paramedics than to Sebastian's family if they couldn't and didn't.
I'm thinking elevate his head, make sure the airway is clear from the mouth to the lungs, then cotton for the nose and start checking for anything else wrong. IV drip for saline and/or glucose while checking for his blood type, if he doesn't regain consciousness?

head forward not back. Back would allow the blood to flow back into the nasal chamber and throat. I had nose bleeds all the time as a little kid. Not that bad but enough to not even worry when blood started dripping.

Use gauze, not cotton. Cotton is too loose and sticks to the scab, then pulls the scab off when you remove the cotton.

if he ruptured a blood vessel in his brain he would be dead in moments. so probably just multiple blood vessels in the nose. other possible causes are a deviated septum or skull fracture, the first is a possibility the second is something he will need to be hospitalized for. any nurses office or aid station could handle this sort of situation (long term bleeding nose not caused by skull fracture) via clotting agents and packing, cold packs can be applied to the area as well, constricting the nasal cavity at the soft tissue for ten minutes will aid clotting. from the description it appears he lost like a pint or more of blood, if that is the case he probably would be sent home for several days to recover, given some juice and food and told to chill out until his guardian could come get him.

If he's bleeding from the brain or his nosebleed lasts for hours, then he needs to go to the ER. If not, no transfusion is needed. When the head area bleeds, it usually looks worse than it is. I once had a nosebleed last an hour and I was perfectly fine afterward (only a headache and a need to rest). Just my two cents. ^^;

given the description he is posting he has lost at least one pint, more likely two (passing out from blood loss) if he is bleeding from the brain, he is dead already so counting that off. they would not waste blood on that, just a few days bed rest after they stop the bleeding, his body will top off on its own, but you know it will take time. stopping the bleeding will be easy enough as well.

Got a little scientific there. Could bring up the point that in Superhumans (beings) bone density seems to be higher forming stronger bones that can resist impacts from super jumping, super straight punches, or even super speed.

oh yeah, I am just saying that IF his skull fracture was causing bleeding, he'd be toast, no doubt that super human skulls are way more resistant to having such a fracture. but whatever is causing the bleeding, its at least a pint or more of blood to pass out. my major question is how is it that someone that uses blood magic doesn't have some sort of blood control or staph meh bleeding plz spell?

Hmmm...I forgot how easy it is for someone to fall over and acquire a skull fracture (it's actually a lot easier then you would think, people who die in fist fights usually die via skull fractures by falling on there heads). Superhumans likely could survive that though
But for my character's sake I'd just say that he lost too much blood (2 pints from the broken blood vessels in his nose) and he passed out from that. As I said before I have had experience with serious nosebleeds and I have researched it as well just to make sure that the symptoms were correct . Blood Magic does have blood control but performing that on yourself (and on others) could be very dangerous( it's mainly used as nasty offensive spell for that reason).
The closest spell I can think of would have to encourage platelets to stem the blood flow (if I am remembering that correctly) at an enhanced pace and then you would use the DoT blood healing spell that would magically enhance the blood cell production in the bones. It would be hard for Sebastian to perform that though as he has no energy pretty much at this point though. Essentially comparable to an say...defender hero who does not have any endurance to aid his/her companions with a healing power

Lots of new students. Ron Bolton is teaching Phys Ed for Supers and interested Normals. Kami had a panic attack and pocket dimensioned a danger room and some surroundings. I can only give you as much of a synopsis as I've been around for. The biggest event was that Kami created a pocket dimension by accident - that took over parts of other danger rooms and the gym - when she started panicking during a test. Staff and some students were involved in her rescue. Other than that (and correct me if I'm wrong, guys) Tobias, Kami, Terry, Lexi, Signy, and Ever are new students and Rotten is our newest Super Health and Fitness instructor! We're currently in the middle, maybe late, 3rd period.
Other than that, everyone else will have to fill you in! ^^; Again, it's nice to meet you!

Okay got a slight wibbly wobbly time-y wimey issue. Okay using Mechassault rp my baddie Sandman is a bit more active. Right now he's looking for someone to kidnap and kill/drain life from. So for his gang members to show up outside this would be after the Mechassault. So would they show up to spy on possible candidates?

sounds like a fun idea rotten, by the way next period me and bormoz have skipped and went out for pizza (just being doing it in private to not fuck up thread continuity) but on there way back to school, the goombas would have a nuclear reactor and well a robot. I doubt bormoz's character would fit there bill but Cher probably would.

Well the kidnapping be a little later after they figure out the best way to take her. They aren't dumb nor is it there first time. Cher would be a target for them she's kind of reclusive, other kids be a bit intimidated by her with her power suppressors on. So she have a higher chance of being alone. Those suppressors would also mark her as being high power, and limited in the form of self defense.
Would also be a fun RP event letting the students of JDH come to the rescue.
