I honestly don't see a problem with having more than one sciencey-type character, but if that's what you've decided, so be it. I like Winston, though.

I agree with Whip. Sciencey characters can work well together. Examples Agents of Shield has two Sciencey characters three if you count Sky. Ghost busters has Ray and Egon both were the sciencey types.

Excuse me for being realistic, but the idea of niches really only works in those silly heist movies, and economics... Having multiple rolls in a single team, I can see that being a problem, but as previously stated the goal isn't always have use all there. The other thing I'd like to state is that generally scientists and tech genius, should actually flock together more so they can figure out the plan or build the thingy.
I personally like Winston better than Technosis in some aspects. Gladatoria and I talked about splitting the group up into smaller teams to allow better dynamics, less overlapping, etc.
They just haven't had the opportunity for the sciency banter yet, but Tech is also very reserved about what he DOES know, engage him directly more and try, uinless you're already set against it, which is honestly disappointing. I'm glad Whip and Rotten agree!

Barry Allen and Felicity Smoak. (Still shiping them...)
I suppose I'll let him hang around for a while longer and see what happens.
I must say that I'm personally against the squad idea, though. I've tried it and seen it tried in a variety of other settings, groups, and places, and although it often seems like a good idea at first, generally it's easier on everyone, and more fun, to include characters in situations and plots as they naturally would be naturally. Not to mention that people can allocate their own characters in whatever way they see fit, and plots can be more versatile, and include situations beyond what needs to take place in order to cater to the squad layouts.
That isn't to say that it couldn't be done, or anything, I would just personally prefer that it wasn't.

I believe you should keep Winston, there is no such thing as a definite niche for each and every character. I enjoy his character and Titan 10 as his asset. Regarding the squad idea, I have personally experienced those things and it's not a fun feeling to feel locked to a certain team.
What does everyone else think?

My thoughts on it were pretty on the fence at first, but only because I don't want anyone locked in with a group, plus given that eventually we hope to segway the group into the game itself, each character will definitely have a place THERE at the very least. Thinking Long term it would be great to have the squads be dynamic threat-based situations; Techno-villain, we send the tech heavy team, magical villain, we send the magic heavy team, etc.
And don't forget the hilarious results of tech-heavy heroes being thrown against a magical threat! Ah, fun times...
As for the set teams thing, it could work, but back with my sg in CoH, it pretty much boiled down to which character was available. 'What? The kid who can punch through a tank is at school? Ok, you, you and you get your butts in gear. Time for an adventure!'

Yeah, we haven't even gotten into an average day for them, this was... an exceptional start with a lot of action. I think, personally, it bodes well for the interaction of the group...

Edit: Been reading up, looks really fun! Terry's a senior, so I think he should pop in, but he likes to keep his powers secret, how well that works is beyond me. Tech graduated early and Toby should definitely go, I think I'll take Kami over there as. I rolled up a sheet for her on HeroLab the other day (Making her deck is hard...), with, like, an 8 in int... so I think she might test into a super highschool. Does that seem believable though? She'd be in remedial history though haha...I think she'd start there to RP, mooost shocking possible experience for a girl basically straight out of Hel...

Well, I'm almost done with the map of the base I've been working on, been away from home so can't play with it :( Oh well, but there are renovations probably, still in progress, that are soon to be completed? I dunno, I'm making the map, so... I think that's my story XD I like it, for a minecraft representation of someplace probably cooler in my head.

Biologically Mar is a few Months old. Given spiders age faster and reach maturity in just a few months... anyway when he reached maturity he started metamorphin into his present form. He quite quick at seeing patterns and figuring out patterns so reading falls into that grasp of his mind. The letters form patterns that form words that form greater patterns called sentences. Part of the spinning web instincts and web pattern thinking. Math.. well lets say he's lucky he has 60 fingers to count.

And is three too many characters? I guess I'm not really clear on the unspoken rules of the community, more concerned with just giving the characters a bunch of places and situations to show who they are.
I put mugging muggers into the gray area. Falls into the same example of the three axis alignment system for CoT the Devs gave out. When you stop some crooks do you keep what they stolen or return it.

Signy would take the point of view that it would be treating the muggers by their own rules. Evaine would say holding to your own ethics is more important than treating others by theirs, but since she holds that with voluntary combatants, to the victor goes the spoils...

I think he did mention his name, and Signy was there too I believe. Terry and Terrance ended up wailing on the same group of inmates that Kindra did, while Signy et al, were escorting Winston to the junkyard to get Titan 10.

Well Oumm is now fully formed in the world of CoT. Made some changes to the idea, not sure I should have mentioned the metal bones. Thinking about it a full crystal body with metal armor plates would have worked as well. Oh well Ka sera sera.

Our base in minecraft, after remodels and additions from the new members. (Currently the first floor A and B are empty) I didn't show the storage rooms and garage which are technically at the top and bottom of the first floor (A) pics. Basically this is what it should look like in a week from the IC 'now'(Which is also the theoretical 'when' I intend to bring Terry and others to JDHS thread.)

Very much the same colors I had in my mind as well. Not sure if the crystal form black onyx or an amethyst. Or even a smoky Quartz. The Onyx would be more solid color shiny hard form. Where the other two would have that semi transparent look.

As nice as Oumm is in terms of aesthetics and concept (please don't take this the wrong way), I find myself confused / questioning as to how this sort of character would fit into a teenaged superhero group, unless I've managed to miss something.

That is a good question. He's not your standard character, at the same time he will be absorbing studying human actions. His overall objective is kind of in Wanderer's hands given how he supposed to be a gate/guide thing. Given that the awareness that is Oumm would be a doorman I guess.

Yeah, I guess I need to be more clear with that... Been a bit too tight-lipped about details in that, but It's really kinda part of the alien lizard villain plot, but really just another NPC faction, kinda like the madmen for Crow, the Spinumbrans for Kujo, though they're on our side.
Machina Mana is both an energy and a plane of existance that's sort of new to the collective consciousness of earth, but was forming for a long time. I mentioned a bit about it earlier but nothing really solid, it's just an idea I'm throwing out or a villain/ally in the background of another character. It's also freely up for usage if others wish to, so Oumm relates because Technosis discovered the Machina Mana in the first Wanderers Thread and has been playing with and messing with the base to deal/learn about it since the foundation of the group. I'm pretty sure it was within the first couple days that the wanderers Existed...
I apologize for some perhaps overzealous creative um... expulsions? I just like making things for the sake of making them sometimes and seeing how they can be played with. ^.^ The Machina Mana being both an electromagnetic energy source and a spiritual force, is another reason why I love the idea of them having another techy sciency character. So, Oum is a Techno-Magical Golem for us to study, and that's studying us in return? I dunno totally, cause It's not my character, just provided an origin sorta, don't want to drive someone elses character.
Things that might come from the Machina Mana by incident are mythological creatures with some updating, and other things like that, or thought forms like, slenderman, though hopefully not slenderman. I don't think that would be very fun... Don't know. It's like any other mythological pocket dimension.
Lot of stuff in the 'first day'
Evaine has the equivalent of EMT training, though little experience with metahumans other than Signy and Jake, and some healing magic that should work well on anyone who is not a mana sink. ^_^

I have this odd notion that it would be funny for someone to call Tobias while he's fighting something... Don't know why that amuses me...
Mar maybe a genetic experiment gone haywire, but he still follows basic biological rules. Only thing that could be considered beyond being a human/spider hybrid is the wall climbing. I use the same reason as spider man for that power and three possible options for me to follow to explain that.
1) A panel of biologists and physicists on the History Channel's Spider-Man Tech suggested the barbed-hair on his fingertips (from the movie) could have the same effect as the miniature scopulae hairs on the ends of a spider's feet. Spiders are able to climb up seemingly impossible surfaces like glass because the scopulae interact with the glass's atoms causing a form of atomic static cling via the Van der Waals force. (This would be most logical given Mar's biological makeup)
2.) The Spider-Man entry in the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe states that Spider-Man is able to enhance the flux of inter-atomic attractive forces on surfaces he touches, increasing the coefficient of friction between that surface and himself.
3.) Bio-electricity. Spider-Girl's similar power is referred to by Reed Richards as "bio-magnetism", but her ability is somewhat different.
So yeah he's super but not the type that would absorb energy or direct it.

Also: Thinking of naming the cat Bucky, since Buckyballs are the largest object they've been able to move into a state of quantum super position, plus other reasons!

I also note some similarities between Bucky (Bengalish, not always where you though he was, etc.,) and Toni's familiar Setzer AKA Sir Sings Loudly (Sorry, nothing in my Character Conclave on him yet, but some in various RP threads...) Perhaps these people had caught a Wise Cat out of Underhill? Or maybe it's just coincidence. ^_^

I did not know any of that, I had read a little about Setzer and others in the thread. Bucky as he's currently known is a white bengally cat, at first imaged him as a teleporting cat made accidentally by the the schrodingers cat experiment, however, tell me more about these wise cats and I think I may like to change the idea some. I like the idea of him teleporting around though.
Picture a race of sapient magical cats living in the same realm as the Faire Folk and allied with them, some of them fairly powerful mages. Life spans are typically fifteen to thirty decades. Some of them have the magical equivalent of super powers, Setzer's is a voice that is potentially loud enough to be heard across Titan City, or to stun any normal person within about twenty feet, hence the name "Sings Loudly". His teleporting is a spell called "all shadows are one", eventually Toni may master this spell. That's about all I have so far.
Setzer is more of a black and orange striped tabby, which was what I thought of when I read "bengally" (more like

The second is more what I had in mind, a near perfect example too! I like the idea too, I think Bucky should be one of these cats as well! It would explain his strange popping out and about!
I hadn't thought much beyond his 'cat shift' teleportation, basically he can choose any moment to shift form one spot to another, the possibilities aren't truly infinite though.

Verbally to each other and their not-so-wise cousins (that is, by meowing), and using magic to psychically communicate with humans. Some people can understand their meowing: those with elven blood (like Toni), certain celestial and/or infernal entities (like Rhythiel), and if some old stories are to be believed, those who have drunk dragon's blood. There are also spells to establish a permanent mental bond, sometimes called a "familiar bond".

Signy has a quest! Plan A: Research the Rune Fortress game, and find out if there is a card that lets one character get into another's mind. If so, can Kami use that card to let Signy get into Tobias' mind, in order to teach half a demon and seven-sixteenths of an angel some manners?

Technically we can work towards this idea I think! I like it a lot! Kami hasn't used the power yet because it's mildly OP but the game implies there are fortresses and fields, so it might be possible to find a field that's like, 'mind fortress' or something, and teach Toby to cast it, which would put them in his mind. If Kami cast it, it would be her mind! Right now, working off of her M&M sheet to keep a semblance of balance she can only make 3 fields, Oni Fortress, Elven Fortress, and A swamp field, at the moment. All are like illusory pocket dimensions that last until her mana runs dry or she's KOd. Everyone outside just sees a portal that shows them the action, she can lock people out too.
I made up the game, so other than the monster thing it's kinda straight forward, runes can be drawn to cast spells, which is an alternate method to do this, since the runes are inherently magic as well. With that you basically spell out a magic word or something.
Traps wouldn't help, but they can be laid out in her dimensions... Spells might have some usefulness within the mind game...
The magic works kinda funny cause for all intents and purposes the things are real, so even the magic is still magic, swords are still swords, and some cards might be permanent.
One problem with her power though is she has to follow the rules, draw cards and such, or there are consequences.
It's half based on Yugioh with some balance thrown in... I thought of it when I was reaaally obsessed with card games in highschool and decided to dust it off ^.^
The trade off of this would be it could leave Signy open to attack from two Tobias' though they'd be waaay more powerful in Dark/Light... Tobias might be limited to just the genetic abilities in his own mind, blades and bio-armor.
And that's why it would be a [I]Heroic[/I] Quest!
Of course, there's also the possibility of bringing reinforcements along. ^_^

I'm thinking a long period of planning and preparing, with Our Heroes trying to get everything they need to maximize their chances. And about a week before they would've been ready, something happens so that they have to do it [I]now[/I], whether they're ready or not.

That sounds about right, probably a plan that will get hitches in it along the way! Ohhh I love this, I wanna know more about Freya's motives and what Bucky might be here for and such, explore your stories too ^.^ I love norse myths and such and want to hear the ideas.
I'm looking at Freya as an aspect of the old Triune Goddess (Maiden-Mother-Crone) that got incorporated into the generally patriarchal Norse pantheon. The other aspects would be Frigga and Hel. Because of her association with the Valkyries, though, she also has a bit of the crone in her portfolio, as well as being a goddess of love and wealth; not much of the Mother aspect in her though. She's also big on personal freedom, and while she is known for having spread her favors widely, she does so only on her terms.
Post WWII, the Freyani Fellowship was influenced by the attitudes and experiences of the young woman who had become Freya's avatar: Anything the National Socialists said about morality was quite likely to be wrong, unless it was something they said to keep people from realizing how full of excrement they were. So the Third Reich's policies against racial mixing, homosexuality, etc, made any repetition of such policies something the Fellowship would fight against. They generally regard birth control as a good thing, unless the couple want to have children.
I'm thinking there's a Freyani shrine in North Titan (mentioned in Rythiel's [url=http://cityoftitans.com/comment/53543#comment-53543]first post[/url]); the shelter would be the first in South Titan, and that's why Evaine is there.
As for Freya's specific goals, I'm thinking delaying or mitigating The Time is number one priority, and dealing with the Vril is a not-to-distant second. Meanwhile her servants help out wherever and however they can...

Small problem with that.
She wields Gungnir, the spear of Odin, not Mjolnir. Big Papa Thor's still hanging on to Mjolnir for as long as he can get away with it. A future storyline for her will involve Thor having to switch weapons with Magnhild for a reason that has to do with his rule, but I haven't thought up any details for that yet.

I feel sooo lost by some of this, but still excited haha... Do you want me to iterate the rules of Rune Fortress/Kami's Card magic a bit more?
I had this idea of Kami somehow using her magic to summon a powerful sword from mythology that was destroyed or lost... Not sure how well that work.
Other ideas I had were for her to be able to enchant things permanently with cards and rune combinations. I think the runes may be the only way to permanently make anything from Rune Fortress...
Freya and the other Norse involved sound interesting, I look forward to seeing where else she and others interject. I'm not sure what Bucky's motives are/should be, now that he's more than a cat who can pop around.
Ah darn I get those mixed often. They were forged by the same Dwarves after all.

I'm interested in how Kami does it. Is it just the Rune Fortress game? Is it that she's tapping into the magical essence of Runes themselves. If so Finngeirr could teach her to tap into the Runes themselves. That what he does. 24 Runes each with it's own power, with the runes combined the powers shift. At the same time many I haven't figure out how to RP magically.

Well.... it's a very complicated idea that I tried boiling down into a weird behavior...
Basically, by her magic and philosophical theory, the soul is a 'person, place and thing' at the same time. The person part is a bit obvious, as a place, you have to think of it as a pocket dimension where all of your goals, desires and possible creative capacity comes from, and a thing being an energy force. The creator of the card game, the artist and the writers involved all collaborated collectively to create this from their imagination, under some reconings this is an act of magic. Putting some part of themselves into the card game, the spell basically takes the creative energy, paired with the information about the creators to form a link.
The link allows their shared collective desire to create a tangible thing, but it's imperfect. Using this puts constraints onto how she can use them, she can't simply summon monsters en mass, because that would be broken, and it would violate the rules of the game. The creators also accidentally infused magic into the game by tying it to the cards and mythology that comes extremely close to fact.
I made her base on the idea of Yugioh in some ways, 'heart of the cards' and all that.
The runes are more powerful than the cards, since they are actually magic by their very nature, the fact that a bunch of effectively magical spell casting sets are being put into the hands of children with no information how to use them, begs the question what the creators were thinking. Which is an interesting plot that could link to the Norse in some way or another.
Her card magic is for the most part illusionary, unless she's in one of her card magic fields. Every attack her monsters make will only do damage in the enemies mind, unless they're in her little pocket dimension, which basically takes you into the users soul and shapes their soulscape to be perceived as the card she's using. This is why some cards could give you access to someones mindscape the way Signy suggested, but Tobias would have to learn the spell, which isn't too bad since I wanted him to be an alchemist...
So far she knows of the runes and uses a form of magic that for the most part manipulates variables, quantum physics and mana. All of her magic requires an inscription, either on something or being perfectly imagined in her head. If her grimoire is taken and someone else learned the magic to make the cards real the cards and the magic would spread and grow in power in some ways.
I hope this makes some semblance of sense, it makes sense in my own cosmology,
I can see where you're coming from. Heck the creators of the game might not even dawned on them what they were doing. Lets say one or more of them had magical talent they didn't know about infusing the cards as they were created. The nature of runes added to the magic creating the gamescape. Someone without magical Talent drawing runes wouldn't have worked.
As for the spells for mindscape would require the runes for Shamanic experience. For the runes I use that's ansuz, uruz maybe include laguz for enhancing psychic abilities, confronting fears, stabilizing mental or emotional disorders, uncovering hidden things.
Indeed Rune magic in the terms of how they were used were be more changing chances of things. More chance of finding true love, reduce the chances of bad luck. All of which is very hard to RP. It's a fun challenge really thinking of how they would have greater effects. Some would be Buffs and Debuffs others more direct action.
Of course my Rune Priest more of the Deviation expert then anything else. I really play a Fortune teller very well.

Nope, technically, I think Evaine et al are on the 'first floor' on the stone platforms connected to the catwalk around the first story. The first floor is two stories tall and pretty barren except for construction stuff.
So, nah, they haven't noticed it yet. Also, Technosis, Garrett and Oumm are on the roof at the moment, looking down through the door on the roof-top dome. So Signy would have to be up there to see him.
On the Rune Fortress stuff:
You seem to use the same set of runes that I do, so those all make perfect sense, it'll be great to discuss and see what kind of effects we can make out of the various rune combinations. I like the idea that the creators had latent magic and didn't realize what they were making when they made it, and Kami just unlocked the secret even they didn't know. For the 'rules' in the game there aren't any lists for what rune words to make, it's all just trial and error, and in order to make a 'single' rune word you have to spell the word out, so lets say you wanted to call the power of thor with Thurisaz, you'd have to get Thurisaz, Uruz, Raido, Isa, Sowelo, Ansuz and I think Wunjo, I always forget which Rune is used for Z, mispelling it would probably get a different effect in the case of alternate spellings or two runes meaning the same letter.
Other words that could be used would be Ancient Norse words, Yggdrasil, for instance, might open up a portal to Asgard.
Ah, you were expanding it.
I'd vote "Bifrost" for the portal to Asgard. Yggdrasil should take you to Yggdrasil, or maybe to the nearest branch connecting to Midgard or wherever you happen to be.

Just so you know Oumm taking the more direct way. Jump down blast hole in the dome and jump down into the node structure. Oumm at this point kind of a terminator mentality. It has objectives and would eliminate or cast aside anything hulting that objective. In this case the glass dome.

I fine it useful it has Divinatory meanings, Magical Uses, Associated Myths and Deities, as well as an Analysis.
Given there are 24 Runes, and 26 english Letters. A direct translation of them not a problem. this is after all RP so we don't need a true Rune to Alphabet translation. On top of that I wouldn't go for more of a Word but what the runes mean. So lets say the A magic Portal/Teleportation. I would use raiðo for Journey (Divination meaning) Magical use is Protection for travelers and to bring ease about change, to Connect/reconnect. Then add some other Runes for control of where that Transport goes to. so ehwaz for Transportation (divination) and magical Power, aiding in communication, transportation to 'send' a spell. So with those two Runes you could have a Teleport spell.
