Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.

One thing about Super Speed

One thing about Super Speed and I'm not sure if the game can do this, but when people run Faster, they take longer steps. Longer strides mean more ground covered and less Spastic-looking motion.

Perhaps not through their own respective clients but there are ways to do it.

The number one seems to be Restream.io, there may be some others but couldn't really find any solid information about specific clients or services. Restream says that they can enable you to stream to 30+ platforms simultaneously, with the base being free and having some paid addons on top of that.

Quoting my self, since that

I'm quoting my self below, since that post was related to the latest twitch stream and this is probably the best place for feedback about that.

--------------------------- QUOTE ---------------------------

I love the jump and fly animations already, there are a few imperfections but it's already so high there in quality and very fun to see, I want to use them already!

The superspeed-run still needs some comics love instead, for now it seems just a normal running animation accelerated (and probably it is just that), instead I expect some more cool movement of the arms and a body more inclined forward.
I think this image is perfect to make you feel what I imagine for the superspeed animation (precisely, the hands in that "cutting" way, the arms and head position, horizontal body position instead of vertical, all of it):

That turns out not to be the case. Transformers are Robots in Disguisetm. Daleks are cyborgs, not robots.

"It's empty in here" << what

"It's empty in here" << what you see when you navigate to the MWM twitch page.

My comment from two weeks ago still applies.

Quote:

Suggestions for the MWM team:
- Flesh out your twitch main page with some information about the game/company/etc. If you treat the twitch stream as a throw away, don't be surprised when we do the same. Wasted effort piled on wasted effort.
- In the above, include information about the official twitter, the CoT website & forums.
- If you are not going to be able to stream on a particular week, that is understandable. Please make a tweet about it (and maybe a post here) to let people know so they can go about their daily lives. Again, if you treat the Twitch stream as a throwaway we will do the same.

For those that haven't read the entire375 posts in this thread, can someone edit the OP to list approximate live streaming times so people know roughly when to pay attention to it?

Perhaps Dr Tyche changed the livestream time? The last update I saw was to 1pm Pacific on Wednesdays, but...was another change announced only during a stream? That would explain some of our confusion.

Planet10's suggestions would be a solid start to making the streams popular and useful to us and MWM.

The way I see, the dev team is making this game on their spare time and dime. Real life getting in the way of something as small as a twitch stream...we shouldn't be complaining about. They shouldn't have to worry about anyone sitting in from of their computer refreshing the page...I'd much rather them work on the game than show me a short video...despite the fact that I can't wait for the next video to drop. Let's just not try and make them feel bad or have them feel like they owe us anything.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.

The way I see it, they created a Kick Starter and generated a bunch of money to make something. Yes, some people are true believers and this is a passion project. But some people are supposed to get paid for doing this work. And some of the money went towards hardware and licensing that these passionate people are working using to do the work. Yes, time is money and I assume most are doing this work in their spare time.

The MWM people said they wanted to stream every week. They started doing it on Friday nights but then found that scheduling made Wednesday afternoons (1PM Pacific) more agreeable to those involved.

My point is that this is an official representation of the MWM product. It isn't some artist or coder streaming to generate side income or make new friends. All they have to do is make a quick one line post here in the forums (or whatever social media) to say one way or the other what is going on. It also takes less than five minutes to put a blurb on their Twitch page to give people a general idea as to what content to maybe expect and when it is scheduled to happen. It isn't a request to generate a ten page exposition on the ins & outs of the company and provide supporting background information. It is simply a few sentences and maybe a few hyperlinks.

They aren't required to stream on Twitch for us. That's a perk WE get for supporting them. If they miss a day we shouldn't complain to them about it. Maybe if this was a well-established company with a dedicated PR/twitch person that would be a different case. But these are devs taking time away from their work that is already on their spare time to give us a glimpse of their efforts. I want to see the twitch stream as much as anyone else on here...I'm just saying let's not complain if it doesn't happen one night.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.

Take the time to read what I typed again.
Understand that I am not making the claim that you are arguing against. If you are talking to anyone else, then I suggest that you don't quote me in your responses.
I am not rolling on the ground throwing a fit that MWM missed a Twitch stream that they alluded to being weekly. They have missed streams in the past and that is completely understandable, especially as we are in prime holiday season time to be spending time with families instead of doing work.

Now, go back and read what I typed again and try to argue that what I suggest is in any way imposing more than five minutes of effort that will go a long ways towards eliminating confusion and setting expectations.
Look at it from another perspective. What if you were some random gamer and came across the MWM twitch page and decided you wanted to watch what was going on there. How are they going to know when the next stream is probably going to happen? Are they going to come here to the forums and dig through the haystack to find this thread and then maybe find out when they intend to broadcast? Maybe they will be interested enough to watch all of the VoDs before they decay and disappear and hopefully they cultivate the information that exists (externally) only there or buried somewhere here on the forums. Or maybe in just about as much time as it took me to compose this response someone could create a blurb on their Twitch page to make the process more understandable and transparent.

The fact is that is not the first time ^^
Of course you are right, we shouldn' complain. And it is understandable that the live stream can't be done sometimes. What is disappointing is that there is no information on if MWM will do a live stream or not. Personnally, i prevent myself from being with my man because i wanted to see and follow the livestream. As MWM, I spend my time too. But... for nothing whereas i would have like to support them in seeing it and discussing with them to show that there are people behind them :/
Just an announce on this thread could help me (and other) to not wait like that, to wait for encourage them in their work... I know we could not ask them to be like a company for which we paid or attempt them to be like a big society. It's just that, it returns a not serious way of maintaining the planning or "promised" things.
I think the global communication of MWM could be better (maybe the site has not the good shape for that), especially for a little place like a MMO. MWM should be more "serious" on this side to my opinion and have a better communication. I don't doubt people are working hard on the back side, i really don't doubt.

A problem with this argument

A problem with this argument is that, it is a gift, and if we try to force it to become a planned/scheduled/forced thing it may be looked at as a burden which they may want to do away with because it is causing such a tizzy.

I see it as a "Don't bite the hand that feeds", I would love to be there and see it live, but I am also fine catching the recording. A schedule would be nice but I don't expect anything from them that isn't on their Kickstarter promised plans/rewards.

I don't think anyone is forcing anyone or even making an argument that streaming should even be done. If I read all these posts correctly, they basically all say the same thing:

MWM said they would stream. They continually fail to stream. They don't notify the public when they are not going to stream so everyone sets time aside for nothing. And the public face of City of Titans continues to get a black eye.

Did I capture the points correctly?

I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.

Yes, but I'm just expressing my fear that pushing more regulations on stuff usually ends up with it just being dropped if it's not integral to the process. It's on them that they committed to a schedule I guess...

Well, for what it's worth I

Well, for what it's worth I was sitting there waiting on the stream to start or to catch a replay of a stream from earlier in the day. And I'm part of the team. We wound up discussing how to try to find a way to cover against it happening again. The problem being that we have too few people available to do it on short notice if someone gets whammied by RL. So that's an area we hope to fix. We do need to get better at the notification's when there is a problem that's going to delay or prevent a broadcast. The point is we are just as unhappy about it and motivated to do something as much as humanly possible. And we are listening to the complaints.

Oh, and even though I mention "we" this is entirely a personal comment and nothing official. The official spokespeople will say it better. I just know I appreciate the kind words said in our support in this matter.

Hello! Let's talk about

Hello! Let's talk about streaming. This is Warcabbit, the project lead here, and I'm about to lay down what's been going on.

Okay. Originally, we said we'd stream every Friday. This wound up not working for a number of reasons.

#1: Several of our staff are, due to religious reasons, not able to use computers on the Sabbath. Interestingly, without getting into details, there are three different religions involved that both have that opinion _and_ a saturday Sabbath.
#2: Our primary server coder, Felix, wound up in a romantic relationship, and started spending his fridays out. I know, how dare he! But seriously, it caused issues bringing the server up.
#3: Our art lead, Charles, started working late hours due to crunch time.
#4: Another coder, Avel, who has streamed for us, started working late hours due to crunch time (unrelated)
#5: Dr. Tyche started having seasonal issues due to his son's club being late. He gets to be taxi service!
Then the coding issue.
#6: We discovered our most productive days were Thursday to Sunday, so what happened was we'd start getting some real improvements in the code and, well, it wasn't _finished_ entirely on Friday, so we wound up with something that couldn't be compiled.

Then, of course, the big issue.
#7: We moved the character creator from a standalone creation into the main game and suddenly EVERYTHING stopped working. We need it in there so you can _have_ costumes, of course, so moving it back out is not an answer.

So. We're down a bunch of streamers, and we discovered the stream was interfering in the production of the game.
So we moved it to Wednesday. This has improved things quite a bit - we have made progress in leaps and bounds - and we have something really special to show you as soon as the stream's up.
#8: And then Dr. Tyche had a flat at a horrible time and place last night.

SO! We're working on getting a few new people who _can_ stream for us, the recent Wednesday experiments have shown that this date does fit better with our process, and I'm waiting for everything to compile.
On the downside, this is one of the disadvantages of being spread apart geographically - the server's in the midwest, and the streamer's in the west coast, so we have to coordinate the compiles and bringing everything up.

I am trying very hard to get a stream going this week - we made some major advances, and I want to show them off.
Briefly: You've noticed we've had costumes working for a while, right?
The problem is, everyone had the same costume, because it wasn't writing and reading to the server database, it was just setting global variables.
We've fixed it. Individual costumes for everyone.
This simple step needed a lot of work - the ability to reliably switch, uhm, let's call it 'game modes' back and forth, without crashing on the second time, a whole new chargen screen, a whole new character load screen - it's not done, but it's functional - and insane amounts of revision to the backend engine.

Next comes wiring everything up. And that involves lots and lots of datatables - but we're into the 'just do it' stage and past the 'why is everything on fire' stage here.
And after that, or, technically at the same time, comes combat. Because we couldn't get real combat working - combat with custom abilities, different abilities for everyone, rather than clone abilities for everyone - till we broke through the server communication issue.
Real chat's coming too. AI, you've noticed, we solved a long time ago - it's going to need tweaking, but... we're on the upslope of a lot of things that were waiting for this.
Now if we can get Dr. Tyche back from his eye appointment, I'd show it to you - this one might be a Friday stream and again on Wednesday.

So, on a practical matter, if we're not streaming, or if we are, where should we talk about it? I don't want to flood people, and I don't want to miss people, and I'm open to suggestions.

Can we fix up a fixed banner

Can we fix up a fixed banner on the homepage of this site for short term announcements? Just below the site banner and above the news feed. Have it hide when there is no special news. Also can be used for holiday or other special greetings.

Glad to hear everything is

Glad to hear everything is coming along, and very much looking forward to catching the stream, whenever it comes! My suggestion would be to add a new dropdown in the Community tab called Livestream. In this you could have the schedule, and maybe a bit about what will be presented in the livestream. You could also make it like the homepage, where you have clips from the past livestreams, and maybe pictures and labels of the really important parts that you want people to see.

Also, you could do it like your updates, where at the bottom of the livestream "update/label/etc" you have a Discuss here which links to a forum thread so people can discuss about it

Look at all those lines on

Look at all that detail with those lines on that billboard, this must be the Old Museum map from the OldSh!t folder :3 Got a good laugh from that while watching the last livestream recording!

Thanks for the little gift, watch out, he's got an axe, and he may know how to use it! If I recall from the last recording weapons weren't really working, so that is promising for this upcoming stream :D

The transition between jump and fly is very smooth, I like it a lot. One other thing I noticed, is that a different stance while idle flying than what was seen on the last stream? I noticed in the last stream the legs were separated when idle but it seemed like in that clip his legs were in a "normal" together position.

Ok, I saw the optometrist earlier today, and they said the eye dialation would only last two hours. It is now 3 hours, and I am still blind as a bat. Makes it hard to stream.

Thank you for the update!

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.

Thanks Avel & Warcabbit for taking time to answer our questions. That's a really precise list of events which prevents you from livestreeming :) That's more than i expected !
I like the idea of Pavel but i think the website could be better than it is now, especially with some webdesigner on this forum :) Maybe a thin line of 15/20 px heigh under the site logo could be enought to write a must read information.

Otherwise, i hope you'll not have problems like that for each important stage of developpement :/ I can't imagine how people are when they see the last 2 months are not working with the other part. It must be frustrating… but, when i see the gif you put on the forum… i'm confident for the game ^^ (maybe not on the current roadmap ahahah)

Neverthless, thanks for all this informations. I hope Felix is beginning the romantic story of his life ;) and for Dr Tyche, you should put off the black glasses to see ! (dilatation last always more than what they said... don't worry ^^)

Honestly, here's what I

Honestly, here's what I recommend.

There ought to be an obvious menu option (if using the current dropdowns at the top of pages system) that not only includes a link to the twitch channel for the livestream, but which also includes an "announcement" marker on it showing the anticipated time for the next stream. The "announcement" marker ought to be something which is designed to be updated with new information (so as to keep it current) with access to making changes to it something that is given only to the people involved with actually doing the live streams. That way, you not only provide a clearly marked "path" to follow to get to the streams, you also provide "signage" indicating when to be there to get in on the action.

Note that this would mean that such information is available "on demand" (site visitors basically go look for it when they want to see it) and if something comes up such that a stream time cannot be met, the "announcement" marker in the dropdown menu can be EASILY edited to convey information about the delay/cancellation in a concise way that doesn't flood the zone with spam messages.

Pretty simple really.

Years ago our forums were done with phpBB3 software which I set up. One of the plugins I put in was a forum announcement banner. It was my memory of that feature is where I got the idea for the banner here. I'm glad it worked out as easily as it did. We are working on fine tuning the design and all and the new feature (hopefully) will be put up on the working version of the site by tomorrow. I wish I had the time like I used to for doing things like this myself but we've grown too large for that (and my new programming job is got me pretty busy as well).

It'll be nice to have a way to let you know when I plan to mess with the site, too.

This is getting rolled in with a big update I'm pushing live tomorrow morning. Big mostly because it's fixing a lot of annoying bugs that have been here for months or years. Like... QUOTING. And that stupid bug that stuffs <br/> tags into multi-line code blocks.

Next up is a menu overhaul. We'll finally get proper links to our social and/or media sites. I hope to have that live before year's end.

The banner notification

The banner notification example shows a "stream is live" message, which is good, but I don't think the posters in this thread have been commenting on lack of notification the moment the stream goes live...I got the sense we were more confused about when streams are likely to occur, and were hopeful that we'd be notified about a cancellation or delay.

Can the banner (or something else on this site, or on the Twitch page) please include a helpful hint as to when the next stream is planned to occur, or if that planned stream has been cancelled/delayed?
Just a brief "Check out our next livestream on [day] at [time]!" or "Hey folks, today's stream is cancelled, tune in for a retry at [day][time]. Thanks for your interest!" would fix the confusion that I've seen in here and in chat on the twitch site as people wait for a stream to maybe start. If that's too much to put in the banner, maybe somewhere in the menu update that Lin Chiao Feng mentioned, connected to the Community -> Social Media links, following the ideas from Redlynne's suggestion?

Alternately, if planned streams are too difficult to manage due to the company's structure or the current state of the game, please just let us know, so we can treat it as a purely spontaneous bonus for now. I will probably not be lucky enough to catch them live, though.

The banner can have any text and title we want. Maybe later I can find one of those "countdown timer" widgets and glue it in there, too.

So there's no reason we can't put the banner up the day before the stream and keep it updated as things go along.

... Except, of course, if there are Clown Shoes involved.

Scott Jackson wrote:

The menu flag is 1) not what menus are for (hidden flags? bleh) and 2) more trouble than the banners. So the banners are what you'll get.

This feels like an in-joke that only Lin, myself and Gangrel will get, so in the interests of explaining for everyone else ... here goes.

In Tabula Rasa, one of the Game Masters on staff had an in-game persona as GM_Rofl. His in-game avatar (when visible) had a big red clown nose that wasn't obtainable by player characters, making him rather ... distinctive.

Anyway ... something of an in-game/out of-game headcanon started emerging in a sort of meme-like way about GM_Rofl. Stuff like he wore a clown nose to work at the office too. And clown shoes ... BIG ONES. And a goofy clown suit. What can I say? It was 10 years ago and the guy was totally frakkin' cool, so we just took the idea and ran with it. It practically became Meme Lore for the game, mainly because GM_Rofl was such a totally Hoopy Frood (who really knew how to snap a towel AND /em pole dance!).

Anyway ... one of the side effects of all of this Meme Lore that both we AND GM_Rofl were coming up with for his game persona was that one time when the servers went down, someone posted a joke about the sysadmins mistakenly let GM_Rofl into the server room with his clown shoes on, where he tripped over some all important wiring and managed to rip the cabling out of the backs of an entire row of server machines inside the environmentally controlled room that they were housed in, and that the server guys were NOT HAPPY about it, and thus GM_Rofl was hereby BANNED from ever entering the server room ever again while wearing his clown shoes.

Well, with an imaginary joke explanation for what went wrong LIKE THAT ... how could anyone resist?
And thus ... a Meme Legend was born.

The story got mentioned in official game news releases!
EVERYONE got in on the joke ... and I do mean EVERYONE.

When Lin and I attended the War College event (where we got to spend the day with CuppaJo, Critters, Avatea, Richard Garriott, the devs and staff of Tabula Rasa, and we even got to meet with Sean Michael Fish (Manticore!) who worked in the same building(!) along with a bunch of other people) we got to meet the Man Behind The Memes. We also saw the evidence that the joke had penetrated every part of the Tabula Rasa team, because when were invited to tour the environmentally controlled server room at the NCSoft offices where they were housed ... right there, taped onto the door to the server room, was an 8.5x11 printed page with a giant warning on it that basically said, "NO CLOWN SHOES ALLOWED BEYOND THIS POINT!" ... which was, of course, beyond ridiculously awesome.

So just in case anyone doesn't know what Lin was referring to ...

Wherever you are now, GM_Rofl ... we, your fans, salute you.

/em salute

As i look at the last stream, i have several questions :
- i heard "The light beam is an object" :) Can we imagine that the lightbeam could turn regarding the moment of the day and at a certain moment, it could highlight an invisible object ? :) like at noon, a treasure is displayed only for few minutes, just during the highlight of the zone ? :)
- all the sliders of the face custumization that you show in the stream, will we have those in the character creator ?? like we could customize the ears like you did ??

I'm pretty sure all the slider abilities will be there, meaning what it can customize will stay the same, he was just saying that most of the +/- sliders will turn into one. I feel like Elf ears will definitely be a popular choice in the costume creator, or many variants of it, seeing as how much customization it looks like there will be.

I just finished watching both videos, gotta say.... SQUEEEEE ~.~ So excited about everything I saw, looking forward to seeing all the integration issues get worked out and see it all come together.

I was thinking that same

I was thinking that same thing but with running. I like the movement a lot but I'm wondering if there will be a sliding stop from a Super Speed rather than just coming to an abrupt halt

By the way, I apologize for

By the way, I apologize for not saying this earlier. If you want alerts that the stream is on - subscribe!

One hundred percent accurate and automatic!

In other news, something I wanted to talk about came up here. Every time something goes sideways on us, some of you say 'but MWM promised' and some of you say 'well they're all volunteers.'

I just want to say that you're both right. We promise. We fall short sometimes, and honestly streaming is hard for us.
But we do promise, and we consider that a large responsibility.
To stream something that shows the MMO running requires at least three people across three different states to coordinate, and any one of those three people having something go wrong can affect this.
(Sometimes it's something going very right in the day job, instead, admittedly.)

So sometimes we let you down.

We admit this.

That's really all I can say, we're doing our best to keep you up to date.

Edit: I did promise you guys this one was worth waiting for. It was, right?

That is something we weren't aware and it explain why it could be difficult to stream. This thing in mind, we now will be more comprehensive :p
Sometimes, an explanation worth it ^^

PS : it's hard to tell if this one worth it since it's hard to understand what iis is said ^^ But, i was amazed by all the sliders and by the animation during the fly (espacially when the character change his direction, the animation was so smooth ! When i think i still must wait for a year to play... ^^

In theory yes. We have not done so, yet.

If you could do this kinf of things... i'll marry the one who will do it xD Especially if we could manage this kind of stuff in the mission creator :p (at least, manage the moment the object could be displayed ^^)

I think the policy is 2

I think the policy is 2 months after airing it will be deleted. That's not 100% accurate though as I think some steams have been deleted early. Some of the early streams were not recorded cause they were still learning.

I'd also like to remind the streamers that they should not consider themselves to be alone in their own house while streaming. So, remember to cover your mouth (mute mic) when coughing/sneezing etc. This is particularly painful for people listening on headphones. It's also blown some speakers, because mic audio is not very consistent some users turn up the audio to hear the streamer and when that steamer coughs. Pop, goes the speaker. Common digital courtesy.

I'm glad you all had a nice discussion about keeping everyone in the loop. That was nice to hear about, late Wednesday night. I don't think anyone is really mad that the stream didn't happen. I think that most of the stress came from the lack of communication. Clearly we really love the streams it's a chance for us to see progress and interact with you guys. That is a rare treat for fans and we hate to think about missing that opportunity. Compound that with those same people also being investors and I think you can understand why we get so antsy when we don't know what's going on. I think you've implemented some plans that will help keep everyone on the same page.

It's been a real delight to see the progress this week and also talk to certain devs about plans. Thank You.

Currently there are 11 videos

Currently there are 11 videos available, to me. A string from 6/2/17 to 7/29/17 and then it skips ahead to 12/6/17 and goes forward from there. I can't see anything else.

To be safe, you ought to

To be safe, you ought to watch within a week - before the next stream anyway. The stream from two weeks ago disappeared when the new stream from last week was posted.

Twitch's policy is I believe to keep them for 2 weeks, but then Twitch gets twitchy quite a lot, so you never know.

Hopefully the vids can be hosted on YT or somewhere else that would keep them available.

(insert pithy comment here)

Something weird seems to be going on here then. I see the Dec 15 and Dec 6 streams, and then the most recent one appearing is July 28. I have links to streams from the intervening time, but I got the "Unless you've got a time machine" message from Twitch.
