I agree, the helmet seemed a bit too unique. Like it really wouldn't go with many different costume sets. You might get more out of it if you design something more generic. You would get more uses out of it.

There were helmets in CoH that had all sorts of "bells and whistles" you could add to them (like different chin straps, antenna, fins, etc.). Maybe this will be one of those "basic" helmet designs that'll allow a bunch of extra options. Otherwise if this is a "unique" helmet that can't be modified then I hope they have a bunch of others to choose from. Not saying this specific helmet is bad, just saying that hopefully it's just one of many options available.

Yeah, I'm really not trying to be negative but I know for a fact this would be one of the helmets I would quickly skip past when looking through the different options. I know I'm not supposed to like everything anyway because everyone has their own taste, but I wish I had seen them creating a helmet or some other accessory that really impressed me. At least we can say they know how to make stuff!

It was a speedster helmet and the Goggles are meant to be switchable with something else (It's Just that in the original concept it was drawn by me with the goggles on as a good pair) It won't be coming with the goggles when it ships.... :) I just wanted to do this one as a pair together because it simply wouldn't look as nice without anything there to show during Twitch.
If you have noticed it, we haven't painted any masks on the goggles, that should give you a clue at least, if in the next streams we do something like this again. If it's got no mask on it, it ain' in it!
In the stream we're talking about that actually.
Also, don't forget about the fact that every piece of headgear will also have Side and Top attachments for further customization. (Along with Mouth and Eye pieces, so you can add a faceplate to this one and make it feel almost completely different.)

I was suitably impressed whether I'll ever use that particular version of headgear or not. Not everything is for everyone, but I can imagine that being used by some for their speedsters.

You mean the part where it showed an open "peek-a-boo" chest window on the spandex outfit? Yeah we'll have to see how "open" that turns out to be. For instance by the time that outfit makes it to beta testing it could allow for anything ranging between the following first pic and the second pic:

Ideally something like that would be adjustable (to make the cutout hole the shape you'd want it to be) but it may turn out we'll only get one fixed (modestly) sized cutout.

Just to provide a reminder, the Kickstarter information for weapons and costumes designed by players is, "It will be exclusively yours in-game for the first year or four issues (whichever is longer) after launch."
Barring a few of the additions later in the game I mostly recall being frustrated by the helmet choices available in CoH. Based on this Twitch stream I think CoT will be in better shape in that respect.

Not only did they say that but there was talk somewhere (maybe in the forum?) that people who bought one of the add-ons that came with a "year of exclusiveness" could choose to give up that right and let whatever they got be "unlocked" for everyone from the very beginning. If that's still the case I might choose to do that for the few KS things I got like that.
It might sound strange but that one sentence about the limited exclusiveness instilled in me more confidence in the direction MWM was going with CoT than just about anything else they've said (before or since). I have always been of the opinion that most (if not all) things that are labelled "exclusive" in MMOs do not deserve to be PERMANENTLY exclusive. The idea (that sadly almost seems revolutionary) that many of the KS exclusives will only last a year or four issues means that people who start playing this game many, many years from now will not automatically be locked out a bunch of great stuff. I think that's wonderful.

The speedsters in the game will surely like the goggles and air-bending form, sometimes I create a Flash-like and I know I may use it.
Just remember to also create an open version with hairs on the top. That version would be even more used by different types of heroes. I imagine some like these:

Personally, I disagree with the assertion that it's too unique. It is unique, yes, but if half the point of the game is to be our own unique heroes, then pieces like these should be sprinkled in for those who want it.
So my opinion is: Unique? Yes. Too much so? No way.

That was the funny thing about how the costume system worked in CoH: You always had to remember that no matter what your personal opinion was on any given costume item there was likely at least one person out there who considered that specific item to be their "most favorite" item in the entire game.
That's why everyone pitched a fit during the few times the Devs of CoH decided to "replace" an old version of an item with a supposedly "new and improved" version. Sure they may have thought the original item sucked compared to the new version, but it always turned out that there was at least some people out there who ABSOLUTELY LOVED the original version and hated the new one. I actually remember choosing to self-lock several costume slots on a couple of my characters in CoH because I wanted to keep several costume items on them that had otherwise been removed from the game. I was forced to do that because if I ever edited those slots I would have permanently lost those items. It was silly to force anyone to have to make choices like that.
This is why the lesson for the CoT Devs should be to NEVER EVER absolutely REMOVE any costume item they ever release to the game. Sure they can always create newer versions of something if they want to but they should only ADD those newer versions and keep the older ones in the game as well. They could rename the old ones as "classic" versions or whatever as long as they are never removed the game.

I actually have rewatched this most recent stream and it has me thinking of a couple questions:
1. Where can one find the music used durng the stream? I enjoyed it immenseley.
2. Are there any plans to share twitch streams, or at least the highlights, on YouTube? Twitch is great, but a part of me feels that, if there was some of this stuff on youtube, it would help with hype for the game even more. We're getting glimpses under the hood, little views at the progress being made in the game!
I'm also looking forward to all the helmet/mask/goggle options that are going to be in CoT. The level of detail is just astounding.

Twitch doesn't keep old videos forever either. YouTube might be a good place to post old Twitch stream stuff when it rotates off of Twitch as time goes on.

That's kind of what I think. I've missed a lot of twitch streams (this was actually the first one I saw), and would love to have the opportunity to play catch up with the highlights. It's more exposure both for the CoT product AND for the dev streams.

I did wonder why twitch was chosen. I didn't know the videos aged off. MWM, to the extent it can be done with few resources, please ensure those videos remain available.

Twitch.tv is a really popular site for gaming in general. I'm not surprised they have a channel. A lot of my friends watch stuff on Twitch, like Magic tournament coverage, etc.

One issue with YT vids is that anyone who streams on Twitch while listening to music will find that the sound is totally removed by YT if the video is posted there. I noticed this with a couple artist streams. Streamers would have to take that into account if streaming and/or posting a video on YT.

Based on how MWM is developing the game, the integration stage is perhaps the most exciting one for those of us watching the game development from the outside. It's literally watching things finally "come together."

This is what I've been trying to explain to my fiancee who doesn't always understand why I'm obsessed about something that doesn't exist yet. Years of - not always patient - waiting is starting to payoff. The feeling of acceleration and general optimism about things continues to build.

I encountered a similar issue with both of the games. CO I couldn't get past the tutorial. As for DCUO, I was able to do a little more; I enjoyed the travel powers, specifically acrobatics. But the powers system and the lack of super strength/invulnerability/character customizability bothered me. And my encounters with the community were really disheartening. I'm not going to turn this into a "crap-on-other-superhero-mmos" fest. They both are their own games with their own approaches that just don't work for me.
The more I hear about CoT the more excited about it I become, as it just sounds like MY KIND OF GAME, regardless of its relation to its predecessor; I'm working on getting my fiancee interested. I really hope we can get this stream up and running because I am desperate to see the progress on integration.

I know you probably threw this in for a laugh but I'll bet there's at least a few people out there now who'll be mightily upset if you don't actually allow this to be a real option in the game. I would actually consider using it if I were making like a Hercules type character or some-such.
We have to keep reminding ourselves of the idea that there will not be specifically "male" or "female" clothing in this game. The Devs have already told us they are going to do their best to not "gender lock" any clothing item to one body model or the other. Frankly it'll be interesting to see if they manage to stick to that goal but I do have reasonable hope that'll be something they can achieve.

- Opt into notifications for when the stream goes live (click the down arrow widget next to the green heart)
Suggestions for the MWM team:
- Flesh out your twitch main page with some information about the game/company/etc. If you treat the twitch stream as a throw away, don't be surprised when we do the same. Wasted effort piled on wasted effort.
- In the above, include information about the official twitter, the CoT website & forums.
- If you are not going to be able to stream on a particular week, that is understandable. Please make a tweet about it (and maybe a post here) to let people know so they can go about their daily lives. Again, if you treat the Twitch stream as a throwaway we will do the same.
- After doing a little poking around here on the cityoftitans.com site I noticed that there is no info page that mentions anything about sources of information external to this particular site. You would have to be a semi-professional site goer to know everything about what is going on with MWM. If anyone new stumbled upon this site they would have a hard time finding more info. Please create another widget under the COMMUNITY heading to list all of the information necessary >> a link to the KS page, links to social media (twitter or whatever), link to the Twitch page (maybe a listing of the staff with their role in the company and possibly a social media link if they use it to post updates on the game)

I think he referring to that "menu bar" up top and a lack of links to external sites. That page may exist but where is the easily findable link to it?

On my desktop (not a touchscreen): Community. (I think. Not at my desktop ATM.)
The difference, I think, is display width and hover capability. On the touch screen, the first tap on community brinvs up the menu, which hovering with the mouse does on my desktop.

I visit this site exclusively on my computer. I do not use any mobile devices here.
Edit: Also it might be useful to have a twitter associated with MWM. The social media page only lists FB stuff. There are weirdos like me that do not use FB at all.

I'm well aware of that, unfortunately both of my grandparents passed within the past two months, so I've had a great deal of other priorities. You should expect a response by the end of the week.

Absolutely loved the latest twitch from 12/6. Couldn't watch it live but seeing part of the skeleton of the actual game map gave me the extra boost of patience for this game. And the live animation with the travel powers and game physics. Phenomenal.
All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.
After three browsers and several add-ons for them, I did manage to save a copy of last night's stream. Supposedly Twitch is removing all videos after 2 weeks, but last week's is already gone. The only other ones are from June-July.
Hopefully we can find some place to archive these so we can go back and watch them later - relying on Twitch is obviously not the answer.

I think those could be posted to YT after twitch removes access. Twitch, I don't think, could protest the posting of "their" content after they block/remove the content.

Gamers post twitch streams to YouTube all the time. Don't think it would be much of an issue.
As for the stream itself - some really great stuff in there. I started feeling really nostalgic during the parts you were in the downtown area. Real Steel Canyon vibe.
