Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Discuss - Twitch Stream

As we do have a Twitch stream, what would you like to see us broadcast in future streams?

I recommend you check out the Camelot Unchained twitch channel for examples of another kickstarted developer who has been active on twitch. Granted, they are an actual company with two offices, but I think they can be a good example of transparency and content nonetheless.

I've watched their channel quite a bit and I think the most popular shows are the weekly wrap-up with Mark, story time with Max where they go over the lore; and my personal favorites: the 2D and 3D art asset development.

https://www.twitch.tv/citystategames

They even post their twitch streams on youtube:
https://www.youtube.com/user/CityStateGames/videos

I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.

Saving the Twitch stream from

Saving the Twitch stream from time to time (is that possible?) and/or posting segments to the YouTube channel would also be convenient for me, personally. My life is spent flying back and forth between Tokyo and Ohio, so my ability to catch a live stream broadcast of any kind is even more unreliable than a badly seeded random number generator.

This gives a whole new meaning to that famous quote about not wanting to see how the sausage is made. ;)

I get that livestreaming the Devs working can be relatively interesting and serves to directly answer the question "Are they actually doing anything?" for those people who are anal enough to want to have literal "proof" of that. But to be perfectly honest it does seem a tiny bit creepy to be able to peek over their virtual shoulders to spy on what they're doing - there's something a bit "Big Brotherish" about it.

Anyway let's just say while it's nice to see I don't need to see a livestream to have "proof" they're working on CoT.

Actually been planning it

Actually been planning it since January. I'm more frustrated that my own goof resulted in me having to redo a zone from scratch. So instead of the nearly finished zone I'd set up, had a near empty one I was working on.

So kids, ALWAYS measure twice before cutting, or placing on a map.

If we're going for specifics, I'd love to witness the transition from concept art to in-game assets. Of any kind! Even if that was a screen capped time lapse it would be incredible to see.

Also anything combat related. (I understand that combat will be tweaked continuously up until launch and even afterward, but it's always my favorite part of an MMO)

To the OP: I haven't watch

To the OP: I haven't watch Twitch since the community folks from Paragon Studios stopped doing their regular shows on there. That being said, I did enjoy watching those segments, which really ranged from dev interviews to just answering questions from the community. I'm not usually at a computer that can reach Twitch during the times people tend to broadcast, and while I am interested, I would have to watch them via the YouTubes. So, as requested before, if they could be posted to YouTube after the live stream is finished, that would be great.

Twitch now allows you to store old livestreams, and it is processing ours now. We want to keep the Youtube channel focused more on marketing material.

Finally got a chance to watch the video from the Twitch live stream. Very interesting. But it seems a little slow. At this pace, it could take another five years just to finish laying out the city.

Or maybe I'm missing something...

Seems like an interesting look behind the scenes. I only caught the last ten minutes of the stream, but am watching the archived version now.

As long as the process of creating/uploading can be streamlined enough to not detract from development progress, then I think it's a positive for us.

Many modern flat-earthers (yes they amazingly still exist in 2017) believe the Earth actually looks something like this:

They even claim organizations like the UN have been simultaneously keeping it secret and thumbing their noses at us with their "real world" flag:

P.S. The word Fnord is not exactly a reference to anything Scandinavian...

Naw. If you go off the edge, you find yourself standing on a big round magnetic platter, with a read/write head the size of an apartment building bearing down on you. Letting it catch you isn't pretty.

I just finished watching the

I just finished watching the third Twitch stream. It looked awesome to see all the devs that popped in and out. Like old CoX times.

I did notice that parts of the fish were still visible poking out of the aquarium sides at times as they swam around. If you imagine a fish that has a hamster-ball-like sphere that moves around with it, with the fish's center of mass in the center of the sphere, and with the diameter of the sphere equal to the fish's gross length, you want that fish sphere to bump up against the interior wall of the aquarium when the outer surface of the fish's sphere collides with the interior surface of the wall of the aquarium, i.e. the water/glass interface inside.

But short of actually making each fish have a sphere like that, you could just limit their swimming volume to a smaller interior portion of the aquarium to avoid the fish parts from clipping the aquarium walls like that. That would be way easier, I assume. You just limit their swim-area to a volume that is smaller than the full aquarium by like half a fish worth of wall thickness in all directions.

The less people have learned, the more unbelievable crap they'll believe if it fills in the gaps in their knowledge and sounds good to them. Also, it's possible to profit off of other people's incorrect assumptions and beliefs, so there are people who stoke that in an attempt to sell those people something. Sickens me.

If by "believe in aliens" you mean "believe that sentient life exists on at least one planet in our universe not named Earth" then you are almost certainly correct. Astrophysicists and mathematicians have taken all of the measurable variables into account and come back with "chances that intelligent life exists on other planets is like almost totally certain" at this point. That said, the UFO, alien abduction etc stuff that shows up in the National Inquirer is all fake.

Magic and aliens and flat earth and the world as fiction all in one thread? And there I was thinking intellectual diversity had vanished from the internet!

The Fermi Paradox? All that it takes to resolve that with the assertion that there must be other sapient life out there, somewhere, is to adjust the assumptions so that the odds of there being a sufficiently advanced civilization close enough for us to detect fall far enough from reasonable certainty. There's an awful lot of room between a reasonable certainty of "out there, somewhere" and a reasonable certainty of "close enough for us to detect". Also, if that's all you remember Enrico Fermi for, I think you do him a disservice.

We're building a fictional world. Worse: A shared fictional world! MWM has apparently1 decided that there will not be any official background beyond the minimum necessary for the NPC heroes and villains and the general shape of society, in order to not prevent anyone from making their own heroes and villains. In the process they've made a forum that is built to allow intellectual diversity to play around in and have fun.

1At least that's the way it seems to me.

Doc had pointed out the Commodore 64 on "Dave's" desk and asked what should be on the screen. I vote for Zork. That line about being eaten by a grue.

That or just the blue screen that reads

**** COMMODORE BASIC V2 ****
64K RAM SYSTEM 38911 BASIC BYTES FREE
READY.
LOAD "*",8,1

READY.
RUN

or if you want something graphics-y, the old Archon II Adept game. My brother and I wasted DAYS playing that against each other.

Most other computer screens

Most other computer screens should have scenes from superhero webcomics, if possible. Hijinx. Grrl Power. Amanda Green, Superhuman Insurance Adjuster. That scene from PS 238 where Tyler calls the Revenant, and the Revenant is playing CoH.

I liked the later games after they figured out how to get the loaded game to overwrite some internal registers and auto-run, so you didn't have to type RUN.

I'd vote for this, but there would be licensing issues...

Didn't Penny Arcade or PvP have CoH-related cartoon strips when CoH first came out? I think KoDT maybe also?

PvP did, and they were included in at least some of the CoH packages. Scott Kurtz would later write a mission arc when Mission Architect launched.

Who knows? Maybe if we pull this off, we could get Sean Michael Fish to write something.

I for one have been enjoying the streams. Have not been able to join live yet but have watched the recordings. Not being from a developer background, it is interesting watching the issues that you run into while developing. Looking forward to more and joining live soon.

I think we need to, once you

I think we need to, once you get it up and running, to dedicate 1 entire twitch stream to you just hitting the random button on the Costume Creator. If we see majority repeat of used patterns on 2 'rolls' before an hour hits, then we'll know the Creator needs more work! :P

Thumbs up to the c-64 workstation!

Putting the classic commodore startup screen in place would be my vote.

Anything else would likely open up a licensing can 'o worms.

Back when I still owned a CRT monitor, I used a screenie of this exact Commodore 64 blue screen taken from an emulator as my Windows 98 wallpaper. Those were the days.

I'd love to see covers of my Kindle books on ingame monitors! Seriously. Wouldn't hurt and they are very dramatic. I created them myself so there is no problem with distribution rights. Only three so far, but many more are planned. I am not the only Kindle author here. I'm sure the others would also love to see their covers on monitors in offices, schools, etc.

As mentioned above, monitor screens could also be rented as advertising space. Have them rotate, switching from one to the next every 24 hours or so.

If the advertising price was reasonable, I'd pay to have my Kindle book covers as part of the rotation. I'm sure online game review sites, game-related news sites, etc. would also be willing to pay to have their logo/top page in the rotation. If each monitor in a set shows a different ad, it would create a colorful and dynamic ingame environment.

On the subject of that Twitch

On the subject of that Twitch stream, one thing that occurred to me today after some thought is that you might want to make the borders of the hexagons the same COLOR as the hex, but invert the "shinyness" effect on the border so that border's shine is the opposite of the main part of the hex, and as such it looks "gem" like, that way the whole hex that represents a given color is that color's color with no odd-looking borders. Actually, I think the borders are unnecessary anyway, as long as you have a few-pixel-wide honeycomb between each hex to begin with.

Nonsense! Dragons (so called "Komodo dragons" and the like aside) are no more lizards than they are dinosaurs or birds. Or than dinosaurs or birds are lizards. And looking at Terwyn's avatar,

I can clearly see ears on that dragon.

It says something that there have been two of us (kitsune, that is), this whole time and only *now* does someone actually notice. :)

It is only when we stand up, with all our failings and sufferings, and try to support others rather than withdraw into ourselves, that we can fully live the life of community.

Just caught the latest stream and everything looks good. The only part I cringed was when you mentioned going the route of DCUO to unlock costume parts. I hope that if this is the way you are going then at least make those costume unlocks account wide. If not then I think the character creater will be severely limited for alts and new toons.

Completely agree. Such a good stream, but the way DCUO have to unlock costume isn't so good. The character creator look so empty, totaly limited. It's not motivating to create new toons, for sure...

The subject of DCUO-like

The subject of DCUO-like costume unlocks has been brought up at least twice before in these forums. Here's one in particular (https://cityoftitans.com/comment/110318#comment-110318) quoted below so you don't have to follow the link.

Doctor Tyche wrote:

Do keep in mind that many costume pieces will be unlockables through earning badges. So even if someone does save it, in many cases they will need to play in order to earn the badges to gain access to the pieces.

I hope these costume pieces have a definite connection to the achievement. Like actual Scorpion Soldier uniform for villians that get the Scorpion loyalty badge, for instance. This is so that certain costume items are badges of accomplishment and are known to be such just by looking at them. One of the things I liked most about CoX which I really did not like at all about DCUO is that in CoX nearly every possible costume is available at character generation while in DCUO, there is a limited selection at character creation and all other costumes are drops or awards or cash shop items.
I don't want to CoT take the route that DCUO did and make costumes a cash grab or subject to random drops. This would be an instant killer for me. But if certain costumes or appearance options are only available to reward personal accomplishment, I will support that.

No "random drops" for costume bits. That's part of DCUO which was a major turn-off for me as well. Or in lockboxes, or behind cash-store keys even if earned in game, etc.
I gave an example of the elevator shoes in a video we just did, as being part of an exploration badge associated with a former dance club which was big during the disco era. Our aim is for the associated badges to be thematically consistent with the piece. And yes, that means you'll be able to see the piece, and which badge you need, beforehand if you want. That way you can go out and purposefully get it.

I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.
