Gadgets secondary of some

Gadgets of some sort. So my Batman-like character won't have to be relegated to "generic martial arts guy".

Stretching animation for the

Stretching animation for the same themes that whips and chains would be good for, things like ranged bludgeoning, tripping, grab-and-pull moves that end with the foe knocked down near the PC.

Stretching animation or theme for leaping, like Monkey D. Luffy catapulting himself into the air. Stretching animation for wall swinging.

Portal animation for teleportation - a horizontal portal that can be colored and textured to look like for example water or shadows, or a vertical portal that can be made "transparent" so you can see the destination through it.

Water animations, like Water Blast in CoH.

I would love a Cosmic set, one that drops meteors and create black holes, and all sorts of spacey things! And not just beams of light, because that is boring.

A water breathing power set

A water breathing power set that included firehose and wave type blasts and electrical attacks plus maybe an attack that pulls a shark out of nowhere and tosses it at the target.

Yeah, that oughta help when designing a martial arts set. I find the Human Weapon series to be particularly enlightening when designing certain martial arts powers since they focus on one fighting move at a time. This playlist should be most enlightening.

Can we please get more than

Can we please get more than generic martial arts animations? I mean, I love martial arts, the set in CoH was great! But I would greatly appreciate it if we all didn't have to be generic kung-fu guy #923b. There are DOZENS of martial art forms to use as example for what a given move could be modeled after, Taichi, Taekwondo, hung ga, Karate, Wing Chun, etc. Not to mention the plethora of sub styles. I'm not saying we need to have every style there, but it would be very pleasing to have move examples that either generically cover enough strikes that any style could be formed out of a set.

The Flash and Substance KS update addresses these concerns.

Just reread it, and this seems not to be the case. While it did mention the possibility of using martial arts animation to make a fire attack, no mention was made of being able to choose a style of martial arts. One presumes that throwing fire with Aikido would not have the same animation as throwing fire with Savate.

While the update does imply that animations for different martial arts styles is possible, I think Lead is asking to have them put on The List of Things To Do.

And this is without considering that a power set for a hard martial arts style might have different powers from that of a soft style.

Precisely the thought I had, I realize there is a palm strikes in several styles, but a palm strike in Taichi looks different from a palm strike in Tiger Style. This is true of punches, kicks and almost everything else. I recognized that we would have the capacity to change the animation to whatever we want, however if the 'bank' of animations should encompass several variety of the move in question. Whether it does what the move really does in a given martial art style, is up to the user to attach the damage type, etc.

I just remember playing with Kinetic Melee on CoH wayback, and thinking, "This would look so much cooler if I could do real Taichi during this..." though there was definite influence there, that could have been more obvious.

This could also mean things like: A melee debuffer who does Wing Chun strikes to the meridians of an opponents body, a person doing a Kiai to paralyze an opponent, using a crescent kick to unleash a wave of energy, or using pushing hands from Taichi to do the same.

I realize it would keep the animation team busy for a long time to make one from every style, however there's always a little overlap here and there. So a 'good enough', would be okay, if there were sufficient options.

Just my two cents... times two...

Mischief powers set, pure

Mischief powers set, pure troublemaker. for those who want to play a troubled hero, anti-hero, or just a bit of rp for that villian character.
The troublemaker powers, are for those who just want to kick back and have lots of fun!
I'm going to blend some things I saw from different MMO's together on this one.
Duplicate Other's Power
For up to an hour you can duplicate a curse or hex spell, but only on yourself!
For example, in Another World, they had these treasure boxes, but they were cursed with hexes that would transform your character into a creature that couldn't talk, or could only speak jibberish, or you could suddenly find your viewpoint vastly diminished as you were turned into a cat, frog, or bat. Movement as one of these creatures was 'random'! as to which direction you would hop or run in. I never liked that part, I always thought it would be hysterical to run around town disguised as a frog, or a cat, or a flying bat. This might lead to an interesting troublemaker quest that requires being small or flying into a belltower to retrieve something.

At times I had fun mimicking the jiberrish sounds some hexes would make you commit too. I would be laughing my ass off when others would try to 'bless' me to remove the hex that wasn't really there, just good acting. :)

The power of spray paint! Paint the town red, or black, or blue! In Another World, you had fun points which renewed on or after certain quests were completed, you could create 2-3 cans of spray paint in any color you desired, and then you could spray paint on any 'bricked' or otherwise designated area any profanity or direction or message you wanted. The spray paint would 'wear' off in about 4 hours. These areas would be like little sandboxes that you could leave messages in, or completely write over them with something new. I might suggest maybe an auto-tagging system or even a quest for a different gang to tag different buildings in town with the gang sign for territory. Auto tags would be like tagging a brick wall with say the Rooks and then gaining credit for doing so.

Spray painting in gang zones might have one effect, while spray painting on city hall could get you into trouble with the authorities, unless you wanted to trouble the authorities :)

Plant rumor, you plant a rumor about a super hero or super villian during a quest to change the outcome.

LIttering, throw eggs, smash pumpkins, toilet paper any part of town you want, leave bits of white litter around for the wind to pick up and blow about. Drop newspapers in the street, it could be fun! Shaving cream the statues!

Having difficulty thinking of any more, I always try to stay on the best side of the law.

Imaginitive young lady looking for clients, talents are imagining the realistic possibilities of practically anything, and applying new technologies to practical applications in all types of business.

I would like the ability for

I would like the ability for a 'mastermind' variety character to basically custom tune their pets. That's not to say they can get away with making ANYThing, their pets will still be statistically tuned for the roll intended for them, (Tank pet's still gotta be tank, Melee DPS still slicey dicey, etc.) But I want to be able to take a generic set of pets, and in the style of my 'yugioh' homage character, put in a bunch of nearly and wholely unrelated characters with varying damage types.

This seems kind of complicated, and it really is, but it could also simplify the process. Instead of making every iteration of every possible mastermind pet, you'd simply have to make the structure for the generic ones and scale their background statistics to their roles and let the player make their pets whatever they want them to be. Then you can have a single 'powerset' for all AT's that use the pets? This may be a bit more hair brained than I think it is, but I think it works in theory.

This seems exploit-friendly.

This seems exploit-friendly. Custom costuming would be pretty easy. The devs could curate sets for tier 1,2,3, (4?), an allow mix-and-match.

The attacks would be simple, it's the buffs, heals, and debuffs that can complicate things, some combinations might be over-powered.

I'd also like to see the ability for pets to have advantages outside PCs, for example, a tier 3 (highest) [lich] could resurrect a tier 1. But freeforming this could be problematic.

True, there could possibly

True, there could possibly exploits if there was the entire plethora of powers and abilities accessible through customizable pets.

I think if they could probably set up tiers of powers so that they couldn't pick something super OP at the start, it would require some tweeking and probably wouldn't save them a BUNCH of work, beyond having to design each set. The powers and the tiers of accessible abilities would have to be tailored.

Definitely this! Some sort of grappling/wrestling power set is a must! I could name 20 plus comic book characters that use them.

As for powers I would like to see implemented that I haven't seen made would be:
Knife throwing, web-based control set, energy/kinetic barrier based armor set, cybernetic resist based set, imbue/charge item to explode based set - ala Gambit, teleportation/psychic melee set.

Random idea for a power

Random idea for a power/general mechanic.

Fighting past death:
The titan is capable of fighting past the point of falling by building up a "false life" bar through attacks. All damage received is still dealt to true hit-points, but the titan will not fall until the sum of False Life and true hitpoints is below 0. If no attack abilities are used within X seconds or this power expires, the false life fades, and the Titan will fall if they are below 0 true hit-points.

The idea is that the titan can survive as long as they keep fighting, but if they don't have a medic on hand at the end of the fight, they'll die as well.

***PURE CRACK***

D&D hijinks are the best, aren't they? I remember the one and only time I tried my hand at that game- hilarity ensued...

GM: You begin your journey as four great warriors in a land that has known no war nor famine nor unspeakable scourge for centuries, fighting in a land of wealth and beauty as paid monster hunters. Agimundr- a legendary dragonborn warlord who brings order with his mighty spartan shield and flail. Darus- a renowned human ranger who brings horror to his enemies from afar with longbow, and terror to his adversaries up close with his collection of knives. Ilthrin- a famous high-elven mage who smites all before him with mighty spells and a graceful shortsword. And Rolkir- a half-orc fighter who we will not have anything to do with this session because I have not completed his character sheet.

Ranger: Remind me again why we're starting without him?

GM: Because reasons. Anyway, after having a history of dealing with many odd jobs and nuisances, you have earned a reputation that has led the king to call upon you to deal with a draconic menace. A mighty ice dragon has swooped down from the sky at random intervals, destroying whole villages as its hunting grounds grow ever larger to match its size, annihilating any threats that dare exist in his new territory. Thus, the king has sent you to his throne to fulfill a tall order: the death of the dragon. You have come before many challenges and slew them all in the secluded kingdom you hail from, but nothing can prepare you for the far worse horrors that await beyond the fragile veil of your shadowy safe haven. As you prepare to set out to deal with this newfound problem, THE DRAGON DROPS BY AND BURNS THE WHOLE CITY LIKE A MUTHAFUCKER!

Warlord (me): Um, [IDENTITY REDACTED]? How the crap can an ice dragon BURN down a city?

GM: Um... You know, that's a very good question.

(everyone but the GM guffaws)

GM: Okay, fine... THE DRAGON DROPS BY AND FREEZES THE CITY SOLID LIKE A MUTHAFUCKER! You guys and the civilians run into a cave and don't come out for a month like a bunch of scarred pussies while you wait for the dragon to go, and-

Ranger: Dude, seriously? "Like a bunch of scared pussies?"

GM: Yeah, that's for correcting me. Now anyway, and after waiting a month, you guys finally decide that enough is enough and want to crawl back out to see if he's finally moved on. [IDENTITY REDACTED], you drew a 6/6, so you go first.

(yes, we are drawing poker cards numbered 1-6)

Warlord: Okay, okay. Now then, I think it's high-time we send a scout out to go look around for any sign of the dragon. Who wants to volunteer?

GM: Nobody wants to volunteer.

Mage: Dumbass.

Warlord: Fine, then. *AHEM* "You there, civilian! Go out there and look to see if it's safe!"

GM (impersonating a civilian): "What?! Why me? I don't wanna do it! Can't you or somebody else really valuable to the team who would doom the entire mission if he got killed out there go instead of some inconsequential peasant like me?!"

Warlord: I call upon the powers of my super-swaggy +25 charisma stat! Let's roll- er, draw- a persuasion check!

(I draw a 3/6)

GM: You convince the civilian that it's probably safe and he has nothing to worry about.

Ranger: Yeah, PROBABLY safe.

(and there was much chuckling)

GM: Anyway, the civilian looks around and doesn't see anything. He says, "All clear, sir!" and the civilians begin to start murmuring prayers and start up a bit of hopeful chatter. Whaddya wanna do next?

Warlord: Okay, now I order the Ranger to go outside with the civilian and scout around for any signs that the dragon is near the city!

Ranger: "Hey! What the hell, man? You're sending ME out there to get killed by a freaking dragon?!"

Warlord: "Why yes, yes I am. But seriously, I need your expertise in surveying the land to see if it's safe to look for survivors."

Ranger: "But still, I'm not going to do it! It's too risky! Just send some more peasants out there or something and I'll promise I'll make it up to you!"

GM: Hey [IDENTITY REDACTED], you wanna roll a persuasion or intimidation for him?

Warlord: Intimidation, please.

(I draw a 3, again)

GM: You heft your tower shield menacingly and prepare to bash Darus out of the cavern before he finally caves in-

Mage: HA!

GM: -and goes out to scout the area.

Ranger: "Gee, thanks. You're sooooo kind."

GM: An hour later, the Ranger and his peasant return and inform everyone that there's no sight of the dragon. What else are you gonna do with your turn?

Warlord: "Okay everybody, let's go hunt for survivors! Darus, Rolkir, and what's-his-face, let's send some of them over to the castle to check in on the king. Who knows what became of him..."

GM: And so, the citizens of a once-proud kingdom file out of the cave and look upon the broken ruin that used to be the kingdom's capital. Stone, rubble, and the occasional bone with dried flecks of long-decayed human flesh plaster nearly every surface, unless if the surface is ruins itself. After a short hike that feels like an eternity, you finally reach the castle gate. It is badly mangled, but not enough so that one could squeeze through the ragged gouges and holes that mar its surface. Many holes and openings in the wall lead around the gate, and the ragged keep can be seen poking out from the top of the battered walls of the courtyard. [IDENTITY REDACTED], you're up. What do you do?

Ranger: I use my grappling hook to scale up the wall so I can reach the courtyard.

GM: Alright, let's do a dexterity check...

(the Ranger draws a 5/6)

GM: ...You throw the grappling hook and watch as it snags on the wall, then scale with an amazing agility as you practically run up the side of the wall, bunching up coils of the grapple's rope with you until at last you reach the top. You see the courtyard below; it is covered in debris just like everything else, with dead soldiers still partially-frozen dotted along the broken cobblestone. What do you do now?

Warlord: I think it would be a good idea to try opening up the gates, if they still work.

Ranger: *SHRUG* Okay, I look for the lever and try to open the gates.

GM: The gates, being mangled as they are, fail to open as ragged metal protrusions grind against stone, thus stopping them dead in their tracks. You will need to do more than that to surmount them.

Ranger: I descend down the other side, of course!

(the Ranger draws a 2/6)

GM: You carefully rappel down the other side of the wall, but accidentally lose your grip and plummet the rest of the way down the 5-story battlements! Go ahead and roll for an armor save.

(the Ranger rolls a 3/6)

GM: You hit the ground hard as you tuck into a roll, taking 3 damage but miraculously not breaking any bones. You made it to the other side, but what about your comrades?

(a long, awkward silence)

GM: *AHEM*

Mage: Oh, right! Um, okay, I'll try forcing the gates open with my bare hands.

Warlord: Couldn't you just wait for me to do that?

Mage: Shut up, I'm strong enough!

Ranger and GM: Riiiiiiight...

GM: Okay then, pick a card and go to town.

(the Mage draws a 3/6)

GM: The crowd laughs as you tug with all your might against the solid mesh of rusted iron and splintered wood, nearly throwing your back out with the force of your vigor. Will there be any other attempts to utterly humiliate yourself?

Mage: *SIGH* Fine. Wait, don't I have access to Force Ball?

GM: Ah, that you do. Would you like to try blowing the gates apart with it?

Mage: Yes, please.

GM: Alright, roll an intellect check to see if you can send a strong enough ball at the gates.

(the Mage rolls a 1/6)

Warlord: Ohhh snap!

GM: The Force Ball gathers into a beautiful sky-blue sphere as you prepare to lance it at your target. However, as you begin to throw the ball, a peasant unwittingly passes by your line of fire and you flinch to avoid hitting him. The Ball goes wide, smacking with godlike force against absolutely nothing before dissipating into a beautiful blue corona of wasted mana in the sky. The blast was glorious, even though it failed to hit anything. So glorious, in fact, that it could be seen for miles around.

Mage: Well, that's bullshit-

GM: SO GLORIOUS, in fact, that it caught the attention of many a creature, some more terrible than others. In the distance, an icy roar penetrated the sky like thunder...

(a very long, very awkward silence)

Warlord: Well, shit.

GM: Okay guys, are you going to make any other attempts to surmount the wall, or should I give you a little divine intervention?

Mage: God help us all, the dragon is coming.

GM: Divine intervention it is! Okay, do you guys remember when I specifically said, "Many holes and openings in the wall lead around the gate?"

Ranger: Wait, you did?

Warlord: I don't remember hearing any of that!

Mage and Ranger: Oooohhhhhhhhhh!

Ranger: You got me, I completely missed that!

Warlord: How in the everloving bullskittles did we miss THAT detail?!

GM: You weren't paying the fuck attention!

Warlord: Okay, fine! It looks like everyone rolled a 1 on their spot check. Is it still the mage's turn?

GM: [IDENTITY REDACTED], do you want to end your turn?

Mage: Eh, it's getting late, and [IDENTITY REDACTED] still needs to make his character.

GM: Well, that a wrap, guys! Good luck trying not to get wet outside, there's a thick fog rolling in.

(we filed out of the tent, putting our game on a very long hiatus)

...To this day, we are itching to see what kind of insanity we can whip up when next we find a time to get back together.

I am also a major supporter of being able to mix and match the powers you choose in a free form fashion - not being stuck with one themed powerset. Being able to build an individual power pool for your toon using an assortment of all available powers, corresponding to their appropriate levels of course.
Reason: sometimes we get an idea for a unique powerset for a character, and with this feature we can scramble together a mesh of different types of powers in order to simulate the desired powerset. This would be especially useful in RP types of situations.

Yes more than almost any power set I want THIS ! The only thing I want more is NUNCHAKU!!!!!!

Another thing I'd like to see is power for sets to include more powers than even a maximum level build can ever get. That way we have more room (and reason) to experiment with different builds, instead of all characters of any given level looking pretty much the same.

I was mightily disappointed by the previous incarnation of the Momentum mechanic and had even PMed a dev or two about a possible change. My suggestion was more like the old Brute Fury inherent where instead you slowly built up inertia over time that lead to faster animation times. Basically the reply I got back was, "the amount of coding that such a mechanic would entail makes it a non-starter" to which I could see and understand, but still. If only they could have copied and pasted the Fury code and just swapped out animation time variable instead of increased damage, but I know that such a simplistic answer never works. My suggested version seemed to have a greater thematic sense of the game mechanic. Ah well, maybe this time around they'll get it right.

As it was, my TW/WP Brute was just that, a juggernautic brute and I loved playing him all the same.

something similar to shadow's... that being said I would like it to look more like a fog, steam or something of the sort. In COX I made a character named Rust Cannon (corrupter) and dyed his abilities a rusty orange using the shadow power sets. I would love to remake my character Black Mana Guardian with a large two handed sword and dark powers. TW/DA FTW :D

I would like to see a stealthy mastermind. The sort of thing where you've got a crack team of mercenaries sneaking in to a building, or a small band of ninja swooping in and massassinating everything, this could include ranged teleport sets for the melee version where you basically just swoop in and within a radius around your target something gets stabbed by your minions other than your target. Sometimes your target. Or for range you sneak in and basically death threat the boss into submission, maybe he goes down without a fight, maybe he puts up less, or not. Anyway, stealthy masterminds. This could even include strange ideas like, spirits that can only be seen when they're attacking people, like mez pet mastermind?

I haven't really read the whole thread, so I don't know if it's been said already, but I want transformation powers. Who else remembers the Warshade and Peacebringer archetypes? What with how they let you transform into a squid thing or a super lobster? Then there was also the stone armor powerset that let you turn into a hulking golem. I want stuff like that. A character who turns into a werewolf to fight crime, or a dragon who can take human form, or other things like that. Transformation powers have always appealed strongly to me, as they let you play as something fairly nonstandard and, occasionally, very powerful.

There's two power sets that if they were lifted straight out of CoV unchanged would guarantee my monthly subscription fees for the life of this project: the dominator plant set, and the brute superstrength set.

I loved the way they both encouraged full assaults vs lots of enemies, intense game pace, and plenty of damage mitigation if played well.

If enemies werent punching each other in the face then they were likely being strangled or trying to stand up only to be knocked flying once more.

I want to be able to transform into various creatures, some giant, medium, small creatures! Even something like the transformation of The Hulk! each creature with different abilities/powers/weaknesses.

From human form to monster form and so on...

I also would like this game to allow us to be the monsters or mobs, instead of the heroes/villians Something like the "Evolve" game, I would love to be the GIANT monster destroying a city or fighting a lot of heroes and crushing their skulls....

What ya think about this? Is this possible?

Although I'm sure it's been mentioned before (somewhere in this thread) ... the notion of Kinetic Melee as done in City of Heroes is still very appealing. The animations were fine, but if I was going to tweak anything it would be the sound FX for the powerset so it sounds a bit less ... NASCAR-ish.

Missiles. Perhaps with

Missiles. Perhaps with varieties like swarms, dumbfire TAGs (lock beacons), guided missiles, missiles coming out your shield, missiles coming out your legs, targeting lasers. Could have various warhead modes, use a lock-on mechanic, there's tons of options. Missiles!

Sustained Beams. Mostly composed of channeling or charged abilities: You've got barrages of homing lasers a-la-Panzer-Dragoon, heavy sustained burners, ice beams, ion cannons, reflecting lasers (chain lightning's fun but overdone, have something that bounces off everything and see how many enemies you can angle it through/into in that warehouse to max range), photon-belt-wavecannons, and all the other fun fun things we so often see in games and yet so rarely in games that star *people*.

...Then again why COULDN'T your hero be a floating orange ball that spews laser everywhere, 'enlightened' police drone, UFO or seven kids strapped to a scarecrow? If one can be Muffin Man, Blaster of Fire and Friend to Bakers Everywhere, why it stands to reason one can just as well be Leyland Mini 1000 with Rocket Pods, Blaster of Warheads and Friend to Bakers Everywhere (plus if there's cars you've already got the parts)!

As an added bonus, both those things are notoriously compatible with pets or summons or the like, and you can have bolts, arrows, magic missiles and the like as 'alternate' visual options.

Yeah CoH did tend to "lock" you into complete powersets that either involved weapons or didn't involve weapons.

I'm hoping that the power customization system of CoT will be flexible enough so that, for example, instead of just being able to switch a blast from originating from your hands or eyes you could also choose to have that same blast come from a wand or a phaser rifle. As long as the "game numbers" behind the power (damage, range, recharge time etc.) can all remain the same then whether the damage comes from my karate chop or my laser sword shouldn't matter - at that point it's just a visual animation effect, not a baked-in aspect of the power.

Well, damage type might be a factor, but I don't see why we can't have a choice in the type of damage an attack does.

Well with this comment I will

Well with this comment I will try to cover as best as I can, what I imagined and varies powers, so if something doesn't come clear let me know, or if you don't understand what I mean let me know... English is not my native language, so it won't be perfect.

WEATHER MANIPULATION

So weather manipulation is one of the most requested powers as I saw, and it's in my top on first spot, because who wouldn't like to control the damn weather? It makes you feel powerful, it makes feel that you hold power over any human, and it's the power which my most favorite heroine had!

So I imagine Weather Manipulation, more like a blast damage over time power, which takes down the life of your enemies and in the mean time keeps them at place. A balance between those two, I believe would be the perfect hit.

For a basic power (brawl, melee etc...) I would go for something from the range variety... because Weather Manipulation is power which gives you control over the very weather. Now I would like it to be vast, covering the whole in game environment (player only), because this is the way to make you feel powerful, while you have this arsenal in your hands. For basic power I will go for Lightning Bolt/Lightning, which comes from the sky, making your screen to go slightly dark or flash, and of course striking you from above with powerful glowing blue color and real thunderous sound, not something like zap, zap, zap; but something like very powerful lightning/thundering bolt blast, which can make the very ground to shake with it's immense deaf sound. Striking your enemies from above with a smite, would most likely effect and the enemies around making it very small area power, speaking for something like 1 meter or two, around the main target, where the rest of the enemies will be just zapped or stunned or they can take just some damage.

The second basic power which I would suggest is for short to medium range, a blast of wind in a cone like look. Pushing enemies back and successfully reflecting any beam/ball like power, speaking for something like fireball, fire funnel, blast of constant fire, ice ball, something which have at least some wide mass and can be pushed back, while sharp attacks like bullets, ice spears, ice spikes, small telekinetic balls etc can't be reflected.

For the special powers itself, which will consume energy/mana etc... I would suggest something of Vast Area... Like summoning a real Dark Lightning Storm, which spinning right above your head, showing that you are the center of this storm and that you are the one who conquer it, of course it will spread throughout the neighborhood, not throughout the whole town, where the concentrate area will be around you, 10 meters around you.... lightnings will be see-able in the far distance, but they will be there just for the natural effect, not for the damaging purpose of your targets. The impact which it will have on enemies I will go with something like striking them with powerful hit, stunning than and dealing burning electrical damage which continues as damage per second for couple of seconds... increasing the effect if something like Rain have been summon before that..

When you conquer a Snow Storm (or Hail Blizzard) You do make sure to conquer one for real... again spreading through the neighborhood/town, but the real area being around you, between 10-15 meters around you... with real huge and sharp ice chunks dropping on top of your enemies and you (of course you being naturally protected by it), which can do real damage, not some snowflakes... because I've seen that... saying hail storm, but instead that you actually have snowflakes... as far for the effect which it will have on enemies, I would make it something like slowing/chilling your enemies and damaging them heavily... because we are talking for hail blizzard... as far for the upgrade I will suggest the first level starting with snowflakes for real, but as you progress they slowly turn into ice balls and then into big sharp, heavy chunks...

Fog... this power will be hard to be done, because it will play big thing on your processor and video card... but if it's done correctly with not overdoing it and concentrated only over your character, I think it's possible... again we will have this vast area of covering, but the real covering is actually happening within this small range... I would suggest something like, when you summon a fog, you confuse your enemies, making them fight among themselves... or you become invisible for small amount of time, until your skill last or until your energy/mana runs out completely...

Rain, it's very misinterpreted power, most of the people think "What the hell, rain can do?" or "I will just get soak it's not big deal", yea but if Rain is combined with cold wind, which is under zero, you will become a ice statue... or if there is lightning storm going on in the mean time, can you imagine what will happen if lightning strikes you down the way you are soaked... you will burn... like literally burn to a crisp... in a matter of 2 seconds or less... as far for the impact which it will have on enemies I would make it something like a power which is there to buff up the damage or the frozen (paralyzed) duration of the enemies... for example if the frozen effect lasts for 10 seconds normally, the rain will make it last for 20 seconds... basically a buff for damage and effects on the other powers to which can help... there is another possibility to be something like healing spell... make it rain and it heals X amount for Y seconds... because water have always represented a healing capability. If I where on your spot I would go with both... buff and heal! Would be cool if there is such effect, like if it's cast upon building on fire, will slowly put off the fires in the building... you know...

Tornado... and I am talking here for a real F5 tornado... of course a tornado will take most likely time to be conquered to it's full power like 10-20 seconds... slowly forming the winds and bending them to form a funnel which raise up to the sky and makes the very heaven to swirl around... as far for the effect on enemies I would highly suggest high sucking in power, which gathers your enemies, swirls them around in the funnel, until the power last, of course the power should be a hold button power which takes X amount of your energy/mana per second which can keep it lasting for good amount of time 30 sec may be, going up to 60 sec (1 min) at maximum level may be more. It will be really cool if you can add random flying objects around the funnel once it gathers speed, like dust, leafs, antennas, small receiving satellites for extra channels on the TV, garbage can and stuff like that as a whole. Swirling around and with their help causing even greater damage.

Heat/Cold Wave, a blast from the player character body, which spreads in area of like 10-15 meters... one freezes enemies (just slowing them down at low levels) and the second heat wave, blast enemies with a powerful high pitched temperature, putting them in a burn state, causing enemies to enter in shock moment which makes them run around, while in the mean time does damage per second... putting the very ground on fire... so you can add this more powerful feeling in the power... putting down fires, melting down frozen objects, people, land etc.

As for Passives, I will go for something like:

Skyholder (Natural Immunity to weather effects, like if you make it cold, your body can't get cold, because your body radiates the opposite, heat), Elemental Resistance (It's speaks for itself), Meditation State while using your powers (restoring small amount of energy/mana, while you keep a power up, but not so powerful to outdo the cost, but enough to keep it lasting for a lot longer time. Example X power takes 7 energy/mana per second, the power restores 5 energy/mana per second)

I would like to put aside the usual boring and repeating powers connecting with electricity, like chain of lightning or something like that... I think we have plenty of games even such for not superheroes/super villains games... and I've seen plenty of them...

^^^ This is one of the powers which I have in mind and what I've imagined, feel free to fix something which you don't like or suggest something to improve my suggestions and I hope was clear enough!

Heh I will keep working on that, but I don't have access to the game to test so I can't really suggest video effects and power effects without actually testing them my self, and I know from personal experience, that I am good at that. (Half of the powers in Marvel Heroes Online for Storm where based upon my suggestions, some of the powers for Human Torch where once again based on my suggestions mainly.) <- And no, I can assure you this is not self ad for my self, just explaining you why I can't give better suggestions.

well, for starters....I would like EVERYTHING CoH had....

in addition I would like to see the following:
Crossbows (just make them an alt weapon for archery folks)
Various Melee Weapons (see TheMightyPaladin's various pleas for Nanchaku..heh..although I would like to see others as well)

As for actual powers:
Probability Manipulation (a toughy to work out given I see it working more like Longshot versus Scarlet Witch...variable bonuses to hit and defence only, off the top of my head)
Offensive and Defensive Superspeed and Teleport abilities (given their nature "should" could basically be the same just different animation effects)
Energy Absorption/Conversion (similar to the brute mechanic but it's also tied into your defensive abilities...the more enhanced your Energy Absorption is the better it works)
Variable Powerpool (useful for mage types...different kinds of attacks, and each one is for a different damage type: EG: Fireball, Ice Blast, Psychic Scream, etc...kinda a jack of all trades for damage types...although this is probably gonna be possible if the enhancements work the way you all have been describing them)

that's it for the moment... :)

Hopfully in CoT we have the option for one attack to have multiple animations that get used randomly or in some sort of order.

Something akin to Super Reflexes would work well for Probability Manipulation in the vein of Longshot.

THIS, please, in abundance, this. I think this would be my first choice of power set priorities, it would be essential in the long run. I'd like to use Praying Mantis Fist, Eagle Claw Fist, Muay Thai and Drunken Box with different characters (which also leads to another question, but I'll make a separate thread for that).

I'm hoping for some good AoE

I'm hoping for some good AoE-based Melee ones. Some point blank area of effects, some cones, it would be odd but it's what I'm hoping for. This is one thing I would understand if it didn't come out in release, but it's still something I hope would come eventually.

Another, odder thing I want is real grab bag powers. I'm talking sets where the theme is the breadth, fire, lethal, toxic, and ice all in one set. It would likely be hard to balance, I recognize that, but it would be good for generalist magicians, 'walking arsenal'-type characters, or power armor rigged up to have the most kinds of weapons possible. This is another post-release wish, really, but it's something I hope for.

Under Construction...

At the moment, I don't really have an idea for a full set, but one power on the dirty fighting type of set I thought of could be 'cut above the eyes' in which you use a low damage attack to inflict a minor DoT and also blind the opponent.

I do a DnD Podcast, which can be listened to here.

Additionally, I write up my sessions of a Teen Heroes game here.

I was always torn between Super Reflexes and Electric Armor. I loved both. One, or both, or some combination of them would be awesome.

Rib Cracker was my all time favorite melee attack in CoH, although I always called it my "knee to the groin" attack ;)

Most of your attacks tend to land in the groin when you make your toon small enough. ;)

Yeah, but an average height character tended to land rib cracker on humanoid NPCs' groins. I'm pretty sure it was working as intended, and the name was just to keep the game "clean".

NPCs tended to be made bigger and I believe that was so many PCs could pile around them and still see the NPC.

From your progress in video

From your progress in video updates, it seems your effort on detail is taken quite serious. I'm curious to how you will handle eluding an enemy, stealth in different surroundings, and presence sensors for certain character types.

To explain in better detail, for eluding enemies, i am referring to how you get away. For example, Grand Theft Auto used to be impossible to hide or getaway from cops, once you're wanted. Since, they have made it possible to physically hide or runaway.

Brings me to this, we love Wolverine and his feral qualities.

Wouldn't it be cool to sense an enemy by smell, even keen hearing?

Same goes for a cyborg or android, they might have a built in heat or motion sensor. In my graphic novel, i gave my character a soul sensor, due to his spirit like powers. To make things fair, it could be converted for different types to have the ability option.

As far as getting away, if you're running from a human, you should be able to stand somewhere blocking you, over them, or just any where out their view. Someone with superpowers may have x ray vision or birds eye view, maybe even one of the presence sensor powers. Overall, we would have that fictional realistic cat and mouse effect, agreed?

You are far more experienced than I, how possible and likely are these options?

Well, I did a search of my

Well, I did a search of my old posts in this thread and never saw myself suggest this. I did in another thread where people were wondering what Powersets Anthem would use (which got voted down), but now I think I'd like to see it done for PCs instead of being something unique/special for NPCs.

I want a Pyrotechnics Powerset. That way you can have a Powerset that includes Fireworks in it, but which isn't limited to only fireworks. Taken broadly, a Pyrotechnics Powerset could also include light demolitions capabilities for mining. But overall, you're dealing with what amounts to "explosives" of a wide variety. That being said, many (but not all) of the Powers could be inspired by recognizable fireworks, including (shoulder launched) tube launched mortars/bazookas (click, target location), roman candles (channeled attack) and even sparkler fountains (area denial Damage over Time).

Needless to say, such a Powerset could be made to be relatively "flashy" (particularly the starburst mortar shells) with distinctive sound FX that shouldn't be all that difficult to obtain from the public domain. Heck, even using a simple "bottle" rocket as the Tier 1 basic attack power for the set ought to be both simple and fun to do.

So yeah ... I'd like to have a Pyrotechnics Powerset that is more about "flash and bang" (and smoke and sparks!) than it is about turning on a flamethrower and just burning everything like a Fire Powerset would do. Depending on how the Perception system for City of Titans gets built, I could even see some limited Perception Debuffing potential being added to a Pyrotechnics Powerset which would not be appropriate in a straight up Fire Powerset.

Thoughts? Opinions? Cover your ears?

Ah, that would be the Golf powerset.

Ah, yes, that would be when we were all dead because you knocked the mob out of the tank's and controller's AoE ranges and we lost effective aggro control. Hilarious, yes.

I'd love to have a giant

I'd love to have a giant cloak as an attack animation option; *character opens cloak and sprays an AoE or aura type attack or *the ends of the cloak get unnaturally long and become tendrils which could grab and hold enemies (and throw them in random directions?) or *the cloak swirls around and becomes a ball of blackness that flies around the battlefield?

I realize this might not work because capes/cloaks are more of a costume option type thing... Maybe it could be a similar option to the attacking hair animations that were mentioned earlier. Fun idea or total poo?

In the long run this basic concept would be needed (almost essential) but it lays within the morphing type of aesthetics which, if it ever comes, would take a long while.

Both pictures are links, and the first one is to the KnowYourMeme page it comes from. (I generally link my sources that way if there's any more than just the image URL.)

Anyway, she's a supporting character from a manga series called Boku no Hero Academia or My Hero Academia. No anime out yet; we have to wait for sometime in 2016.

A power set I think would be cool would be something along the line of "illusion- defensive/evasion" where a character could make decoy duplicates of himself (which wouldn't do damage but could taunt enemies and draw their attacks off him).

That sounds like it would make an interesting animation option for a power such as Elude, while other powers might provide shimmering and similar effects to indicate that the character is not necessarily precisely where they appear to be.

I'd love to have

I'd love to have a power similar to Sherlock's (or Shawn Spencer if you watch Psych) deduction. You could go to crime scenes (or have a hotkey) where you point at an item/character and you can see things about them like basic powers/job/the last couple places they've been/fighting style/whatever, or for objects, what it is/where it's been/if it has relevance to a quest/little things about it.

It could be linked to Telepaths or genius characters or something. It wouldn't be an offensive power, and it could be built up with knowledge (like you couldn't tell where something's been if you haven't been there yourself, or if you haven't encountered that specific power type).

I just think this would be really awesome.

Thread: Super Senses
Thread: Indirect (Non)Combat Powers

Most definitely would fall into the non-combat powers category. Which, for the time being, is shelved as we're focusing on the major stuff (combat powers). Something like the NCP system may return in its current form, one near it, or another form altogether. Some may end up even as a Tertiary Set even if they would result in a less combat oriented build.

We do however want to avoid the situation where players "can't keep up" because they made less combat oriented characters via tertiaries into a combat heavy play. Or that combat oriented builds end up sidelined because the rest of the team is focussing on non-combat oriented play / tasks. Basically, we are keenly aware of how such different types of play can converge nicely, but also how often they can be disruptive to the flow and style of the game we are making.

Super Senses are still happening, though they will be restructured from the NCP system into Tertiary Sets. As a result they will not only have ancillary effects on combat, but more combat oriented powers.

I know that what I'm picturing won't happen anytime soon (if ever, and adding the extra text to items and player types would take a lot of time that the devs can use to improve the rest of the game). The idea just got stuck in my head, because I've been watching a lot of Sherlock.

Why should someone who uses a sword for instance not be able to use some hand strikes or throws?

In Champions, there was a technologist backpack costume piece that had a radio dish and laser zapp arm coming out of it. I always hoped you could pick the dis or arm as your sonic ray gun shooter instead of having to pick a hand weapon, but no such foresight by their game people.

And no, it wouldn't have been difficult, even with lack of planning. Just create an invisible pseudo gun whose fire point is where the radio dish or laser arm is.

But, sir, surely you realize that turning your gun like that makes it Less Accurate and leads to shooting bystanders, instead of your target? You'd probably be better off just firing bullets from your crotch-al region.
