hoping they have some sort of stag/hart symbol that is decent looking otherwise he could be in for a major redue once CoT goes live. of course this assumes they have bowyers from the get go. otherwise, just the basics again here. tend to stick to simpler costumes on the whole as I find them more appealing and they lend towards being iconic (alas I miss going to Icons..*sob* CoH flashback, sorry). although I do try and have little bits that are "interesting", at least to me. example on Crosshart, the band for the quiver connects to the suit in the front versus unseen in the back or the full band across the chest.

I am actually kinda undecided on how much detail I want to show on Astrogate other than his hair an eyes. as such, it may change from time to time dependant on the ole mood, although I am thinking this will be his default pic.

CR: on Ms. Majestic, I suppose it was intentional although I do like the idea of separating the cloak star field for the added depth. I'll have to play around with that for sure!
In regards to Natha.....errr..Crosshart's secret identity, I signed a non-disclosure form. as such, I can neither confirm nor deny who Crosshart actually is. :p
Lionseye, again...although redid using my older method of tracing versus the previous. I actually prefer this method as they come out smoother looking. last up will be WP himself tomorrow but not looking forward to the wings, they're a pain to do given to get em right it takes multiple layers in addition to playing with the opacity on each said layer. after that I go back through and start adding highlights an such. although I will admit I actually kinda like the flats versions but I will admit that highlights and and such do make pics 'pop' a lot more.

White Peregrine, wing are a pain given the whole transparency thing to get right but this will do for all intents and purposes. I might play around with the blue in the wings, we'll see. for now, relatively happy how he came out.
All the original linework I had done for him, citenik and crosshart were on an old pc and I forgot to grab the files before I scrapped it. as such, only thing I had/have are the pics that I first posted here. as sych, the redue across the board. although this time I am emailing the layered versions, in addition to gifs of each one, as I really don't want to have to do this again. lol.

came across some CoH shots of characters that I had done and saved all together (for some important reason that I can't recall now...) and thought I would throw it up.
left to right, St. Aegis, Lionseye, Crossmoon (human form only kheldian) and last Centurion EMP(?) I am not sure which version as I had a couple for him dependant on what 'mode' I wanted to play...tanker, blaster, scrapper... each "mode" I had a three letter designation code, eg: Centurion EMP, Centurion AMP, Centurion ARC (although I think I called him ARC Centurion) etc. he basically covered all the electrical powers sets in the various archtypes but every suit looked exactly the same.

another pass. redid the most of the blacks to be true black and did a lil scaling adjustment.

the skin as on her leggings. Skin reflects light less and so the line should be much more diffuse and
spread out unless she is sweating or wet. The deepened blacks look great though.

softened up the highlighting. also fattened up some of the black detail lines in the black so they stand out a lil more to provide definition.

I have been slowly working on the high lights on my various characters (mainly the black at this point). hoping to have all the black finished soon and then I can move on to the colored portions for high lights and low lights as needed. in addition, I have been putting together basic icons for each character for no self respecting hero doesn't have some simple symbol that can be used to identify them without their picture. ;) a couple examples using lionseye and crosshart:
I basically plan on using these in the final pieces (whenever that is) for each one as faded out backdrops in addition to a smaller non-faded one at the bottom left under their name. an example of what I mean is like this:
doing lil things like this "adds" more to a basic pose, imo. it makes it seem more complete picture than if it was just the character alone. it also resolves that issue on backgrounds as it will not (or should not) detract from the art of the character themselves.
I have also been toying with the idea of generating a basic "stat" bar to show relative strength in each category but am undecided at this point. I probably will as the the current direction I am going tends to be toward a basic bio page type thing with the idea that it is/was generated by a third party versus being an "out of game" bio. given this third party view point it would allow for some generalities to be used without getting into specifics on the character abilities themselves. although this all is just a thought at this time and not sure I will go quite so far...but given we have a good while till CoT hits the floor I probably will finish it out completely. lol

aye. I have each character as their own layer (although each individual actually has a multiple layers in their stand alone pics. I have really thought about a unified light source per say, other than the generic highlighting that I have been doing which is basically in front of them and slightly to the upper right. unknown if I will do anything else for a light source beyond that...at this time. (must enter the qualifier as I may change my mind later on...hehe).
I will adjust those (the serratus anterior). I have them coming out a bit farther than they should. probably just need to cut a few out is all and should resolve the issue. :)
I am actually still fiddling with Ms Majestic and Astrogates power displays. I like the "idea" of them but not a fan of the bleed over affect from using a filter. hence in the most recent I clipped out huge chunks. I need to visit those some more..

professional, I would say so. like any grouping of people though, there is tension and infighting. the most contentious of the group would be St Aegis while the most laid back easy going is Citenik. tensions run high between various members depending on the situation. so, like any family, they may fight amongst themselves but beware that facing one means facing all no matter what internal strife may be occurring. this last bit becomes even more true as certain members are either good friends (such as wp and Cit) or related to one another (such as astro amd ms m).
at some point I will actually finish the various bios which has them all linked in some fashion. although honestly, they are not really a team other than in my brain pan given I can only play one at a time but I do like the idea of them as a team, even if more of an informal one given they are all typically working solo or appearing in some random team up mag (aka PUGs). heh

St aegis is the shield wielder no? If so...I'm surpised! I would've have guessed crosshart was the trouble maker, archers are known notoriously for their lone wolf mentality. We shield wielders always behave so well *fakes an innocent face* :D

indeed he is the shield wielder. as far as crosshart, he's a good bit more reserved and brotherly to the group, think big brother mentality, albeit big brother who generous with his couple hundred million/give or take)...especially towards Ms Majestic and Astrogate.

fiddled with Ms Majestic's pom-poms-o-doom. and touched up some other minor items. ...and cause I couldn't resist, ripped the background image for titan city and dropped in and added the lil "welcome to" bit...just to let the bad guys know who lives there. hehe. unknown if I will actually keep it, but it does put a smile on my face when I see it. :)

updated eyes on Astrogate in addition to his power display to make more inline with Ms Majestic (they are related after all and powers are related in a sense). also darkened background slightly to put more emphasis on the characters themselves. additionally, if one looks they can see where the characters are 'gating in from... :)

preject for the weekend that I had mentioned earlier. I have owed this one for a good bit and finally found a relatively decent pic of their main hiding in the weeds. as he has done a couple pieces for me outta pure generosity I really felt the need to return the favor by doing something for him. the below is just the prelim color test, in addition to line check. now it's back to lines for me to fix some items and then on to coloring again. figure I should have this done sometime tomorrow. hopefully he likes my spin on his main character. :)
...and if ya haven't figured out who I am talking about, it's our own...Lady Justice...aka: Bobby A! he has done so much for just not myself but score of others and I just wanted to give a lil something back. :)

redid the cape a lil and cleaned up the lines. started playing with colors for an idea on how I want to go...thinkin the fur will be lighter, more grey than black.

given lil bio page has Archery/fire figured I would throw in the bow. As I do not know exactly how she envisions how her powers work...well...I took the liberty of making the bow working something along the lines of the ole DnD Saturday morning cartoon, Ranger's energy bow. while DD probably doesn't NEED to generate the bow to operate her powers she does it for the effect it has. As such, the bow and arrows are generated have the ole fire effect happening. if she uses a regular bow though...just let me know DD, it's an easy fix. :)
also...hair...is it pulled back like the bio pic or does she have bangs as your avatar suggests? inquiring minds want to know... hehe

just a colortest on my part after cleaning up the lines and making some changes to the pic. only the basic pink and black mainly as the fire portion will have to be played with as I do it. in addition, given the fire will be transparent, much like the cloak opted not do worry over it. mainly to get a look at what I am dealing with and look for any changes that need to be done due to coloring conflicts. should have this one completed sometime this coming week.
need to revisit Amerikatt too. the original plan was to have the eyes covered (hence the massive amounts of white in the eyes), Then I changed my mind while coloring and opted for the fur to be showing around the eyes...but I didn't put in the amber. a relatively easy fix though and that will be done here soon too.

oh...sidenote of sorts. height would be nice if I render a pic as the 'big plan' is to stick em all in the same pic. if none is provided, well I'll go with whatever feels right to me. :p
I will probably just throw em in with mine although I suspect I will have to do a good bit of shuffling to get a nice balanced look to it. although, now that I think about it, may need a couple more 'flyers' for the second row. if I get to many I may have to start a third row and 'stack' folks somewhat behind one another, but I want to avoid that so that a good majority of their costumes can be seen. :)
I suppose this is going to be something like Alex did back on the old forums by having everyone I render in one big pic....in theory I think it should be pretty cool...at least to me it is. hehe

That's another of my favorite Tankers, named Rogue Nightwolf. He's head and shoulders taller than most folks, 7-8 feet tall, built on the 'hulk' frame, but slimmed down to merely 'really damned big'. Unlike the usual 'Nightwolf', he's more balanced and coordinated.

The head is one of the 'Beast' varieties, a bit of wolf and a bit of bear. I liked it because there was clearly a large brain-box behind those eyes and I felt there was 'still a man' locked in there. As such, Rogue Nightwolf certainly has the full range of expression, even if the beastly 'mask' makes it hard for others to see.
Later, when I earned a second costume slot, I tried making a 'fully human' version of him, and then a 'fully Nictus'd out' version, but if I had screenshots of those, I must have lost them in the shuffle. I expect I still have the costume files, somewhere...

DD: okie dokie...keepin the firebow, I like the idea of it, especially since I have haven't seen any other renderings where she is carrying an actual bow. as such, I just made an assumption...glad you like it. :) regarding the cape, yup, the plan is for it to be transparent. I just did a basic coloring to get a feel of where I am going, in addition it allows me to see anything that needs to be fixed. the third thing it does, by me sharing it, if the owner of the pic sees something, it allows them to chime in as necessary and let me know before I get to far into it. of course the third option could have a very short window but it's really not that hard to go back and fix a 'completed' pic...example being Amerikatt...I need to revisit and put some amber in the eyes.
in general, the 'plan' is the bow and cape are transparent/relatively transparent and the bow itself is behind the cape. I am planning only playing around with getting a lil pink into the flames to help tie in with the over all color pallet of the character. :)
Fireheart: wolf/bear? errr....I dunno if I can pull that one off so you may just get a wolfie head....who knows, since I have never actually drawn a wolf you may get what ya want by pure coincidence. LOL What I was wondering is if he is always in full on snarl mode or if he can actually display amore 'neutral' face...of course teeth/fang and such would still be showin. any preference in costume or is it pretty much as pictured?
in regards to the human form...hrmm...ideas on what he looks like? still gonna try the wolfie form...just curious. :)

'Human' form was a big, burly blonde guy, in the same reinforced long coat and chunky belt, but wearing a white t-shirt, camo-combat pants, and heavy work boots. Think 'Schwarzenegger', but better looking. Maybe Dolph Lundgren. *grin*
His human form has, effectively, become his semi-secret identity, as it allows him to be 'normal' again. He can go out to see a movie without frightening the civilians. Hell, he can sit in a regular chair. At six-foot-something he's still a big guy, but his 'wolf' form is considerably more massive, and his 'hulk' form is another order of magnitude - like 9-10 feet tall, completely black, with tendrils of purple energy leaking out of everywhere. Yeah, nobody wants to see him when he's 'angry'.

sooo..had the nightwolf bug and whipped up this lil bit. thinkin he needs to be slimmed down a smidge now that I see it on screen and the 'costume'...yeah well, was bored, sue me. :p given I am unsure as to what he actually wears I made something up on the spot and it's...meh. I can definitely do better and more inline with the idea but just wanted to do something other than the standard nightwolf look...he is a 'hero' after all. :)
anywho....let me know if this works and if there is anything specifically your looking at clothing wise (oh, and how furry is he?)...or any other changes you would like to see. I will hold off until I hear otherwise. I have plenty to keep me busy in the mean time (finishing off DD and getting that amber in Amerikatt's eyes).

Yikes! Scary Nightwolf beast. Looks like you grabbed the 'regular Nightwolf' reference and ran with it. Actually pretty good.
However, the picture in the costume request thread has slightly clearer details.
In CoH terms, he's a Willpower/Dual Blades Tanker. Unfortunately, this is the only picture I have.

I always wished I could have given him some Shorts, but CoH didn't offer that option with Fur. Leather long-coat and shoulder-pads, chunky belt, black fur, fangs and claws, and long 'impervium' katanas. His eyes should be green, or maybe blue, another oversight in the character designer.
And, frankly Digitigrade Feet make absolutely no sense for an upright, walking person, but that's what we had. Even my own dog stands Straighter on those back legs than the in-game art allowed. Real world creatures want the weight over the hips, the hips over the knees, and the knees over the feet, so that gravity doesn't kill your joints.

lil update. all linework and base colors done for the main body. just need to do the flames now and that may or may not take awhile depending on how it works out. flames will also be covering the hands/forearms. then it's touchups and background.

I'd love it, if you could add the 4th toe on the feet - I never did understand why the Devs didn't follow through on such an Obvious omission. We can pretend that the 5th toe is vestigial... Oh, yes, the 'Animal Pack' beastly feet did have 4 toes/claws, but they lacked Style. Anyway, I'd like a 4th toe, but my love for the art is not contingent upon it!

so, finally biting the bullet an getting a new rig (current one is closing in on being 8 years old fast! go Intel Core 2 Duo!!!...hehe). thinkin this one should keep me going for another 5 years (at least) with little to no problem. the below is what she looks like. as such, I have stepped away for a bit of a break and continued a lil further with the Rogue Nightwolf. I suspect I should have him finished sometime later today, at least in regards to the pencils portion. was also thinkin forward on him in regards to coloring...an man, it's gonna be a ton of blacks (various shades), I think will add a couple things to add a smidge of color.

I admit, the original 'all black' coloration was deliberate. I mean, he's a Tanker. he's supposed to be intimidating. I intended him to be more focused on damage output and damage Avoidance, rather than the traditional 'Everybody attack Me!' 'Look at Me!' style of the more traditional Tanker.
Perfect Perry is more traditional, clad all in white, sparkling light-show powers, pom-poms of doom.
And then there's Flamelocke... Fire/Fire/Fire Tanker. But I haven't shown pictures of him, yet.

kidding aside, the toenails are a bit over the top but wanted to try and save something from the nightwolves. although, he's gonna need freakin tree shears to clip em down! in regards to the blacks, no worries, I like the look you have goin for him. :) the touches of color really aren't all that much but wanted to have something to help, although I haven't really decided on the coloring for the tassles yet...may stay red or may try some other colors out.
I suspect I should have him finished tomorrow afternoon sometime.

so, in this picture from left to right we have: Rogue Nightwolf, Amerikatt, DeeDee, Brahn Fuhrnos and Citenik. Now obviously the most dangerous individual in this picture is the unassuming Amerikatt...but we all know that but the baddies don't. as such they will be operating on appearance alone...so...who would you assume is the most dangerous on appearance alone. I know who I would pick! (see, I told ya I was being a snot. hehe)
In regards to the heights, I only actually know Citeniks, who is 6'8' tall. Night wolf is next but only knowing a rough estimate of 7'-8', so I gave him something along the lines of 7'8'. DeeDee and Brahn were the hardest as I only now vague things...DeeDee is short and Brahn stands roughly a head taller than her...as such I made her 5' even which made Brahn roughly 6'. Amerikatt I assume is no larger than your average Russian Blue which put her in the 1' range, when seated.

hey there gang! still floating around just kinda passin time at the current time. as of late I have started playin Marvel Superheroes 2015 to get my hero fix. it's not bad I suppose for the format its presented but it would be loads better if one could make a custom costume. ah well, so it goes. runnin around as Nova (Richard Rider) and even set up a superteam (Freelancers). did that mainly to see what kinda toys one gets when setting up a team...not much really. lol anyways, just thought I would pop in an say hi...HI! :)
