Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

A Jiang Shi is a type of mythical Chinese vampire. They are typically shown wearing Chinese nobleman clothes and on ofunda while looking alot like Nosfurato or the Vampyres from the council. There are two main differences from typical vampires however, one they eat souls rather than drink blood, and two Rigor Mortis has set in them so they mainly only move by hopping. Though more recent versions like one in Jackie Chan adventures and the Chinese cousins of the Vampire in Vampire: The Masqurade tend to ignore their limited movement.

Its outerwear, from the 15th and 16th centuries. Actually, can we have a few historical costumes from the middle ages? viking, spanish conquistador? maybe aztec warrior? that would look awesome. If its too much trouble, I understand, but I can think of some awesome character concepts with something like a Henry the 8th vibe.

Different styles of scales for skins (i.e. for fish: ctenoid (bass), cycloid (carp), ganoid (gar), placoid (shark), and cosmoid (coelacanth) scales) (i.e. for some more interesting reptile scales: alligator scales, small lizard scales, large lizard scales, iguana scales, tiny gecko scales, smooth snake scales, and keeled snake scales.)

Costume material

I think that could be described as polygonal mask. And then the designs could just be designs for the mask category, like guy fawkes mask pattern, picasso mask pattern, SMPTE color bars pattern, etc.

also, I think a burning coals skin overlay for an aura would be neat. Just a glow of fieriness, fading in and out. With the glowing parts being lumpy veins and spots patterned all over the body like how a burning log that's down to coals might look. :)

Just responding to a post from the end of Costume Request Thread 2.0:

Thinking of starting a new thread Costume Request Thread 3.0 and organizing it by categories in the AB (as shown in demo videos)

Thanks for thinking of me but like you pointed out it was never really "my" thread to begin with. The original Costume Request thread had gotten too big and disorganized for its own good and I just happened to be around a few years ago to repackage it into a "thread 2.0".

TBH I'd been thinking about posting a costume thread 3.0 for at least a year or so but never got around to it. If someone like you has the time to pick up the baton and keep running with it then more power to you. :)

I figure it's all a continual process regardless. Now that we finally have an Avatar Builder to play with it'd probably make sense to "redo" these types of suggestion threads every year or two just to keep them fresh/relevant.

HBO? Was that for my Monty Python and the Holy Grail reference or my sig pic of Daenerys? Wasn't really suggesting my sig pic for CoT before but might as well now. ;)

While I'm posting here's a production still from the Holy Grail that shows Michael Palin as Galahad and Carol Cleveland as Zoot/Dingo:

Turns out we could very well get in trouble from HBO after all given that I was reminded Olenna Tyrell often wore something pretty similar:

I guess someone's joke detector must be out for repair. When DesViper mentioned the idea a few posts ago I took it for the silly joke it was clearly meant to be. It'd be pretty much on the same level as someone trying to sue for the rights to the wheel at this point. ;)

Just throwing out another random assortment of pics with interesting costume ideas for CoT.

Here are some various tech-based "energy wing" ideas:

These just highlight my love for 70s era British Sci-Fi:

This next one was mostly for the cool hairstyle (but it might be an example for another "Hover stance" as well):

And these final ones have multiple elements that would be cool to see in CoT:

Awesome boots! In just about

Awesome boots! In just about all the photos where boots can be seen. The reptilian cyber ridges on the cyborg "Karen" are pretty cool. Skin tight suits in the first three are pretty nice too, cool patterns.

Lothic, one of the new rules in this thread is that you can't just post cool pictures. You have to pick a detail you want to see in the game. So in the bottom two I would say the snowboard style boots and I think I've already asked for the low slung asymmetric belt from another suggestion. The uniform with hopefully adjustable skirt length (not saying it's too short but options are nice) the shoulder piece and earpiece/antenna/half visor combo are slick. I also like the hairstyle on snowboots girl. We would need to name it though to make it a valid suggestion. Asymmetric part with buzz?

Well I said I wanted the wings in the first set, the hair from the "cyborg Karen" and effectively I wanted everything from the last two pics. As far as the other two pics of the actresses from Space 1999 and Blake's 7 go I would've thought it might have been obvious that I'd want to literally be able to create characters that look exactly like them but I'm willing to concede that might not have been completely clear. So beyond more or less "following the rule" I'll pay more attention to "following the rule" next time. ;)

Grimfox wrote:

I think very generically you'd call it a Razor, Choppy or Shag Bob style. Here are a few more that are vaguely similar:

When the back is cut relatively short/close it's called an Inverted Bob:

Yes they added several flat-soled versions. The real trick is when they try to implement various types of high-heeled versions. ;)

I'd have to assume that various lengthed spandex gloves are such a fundamental idea that they're probably already a fairly high priority on the Devs' to-do list. I'd be shocked if they weren't.

This is Varia queen of the Amazons from the old Xena show.
I have said many times that accessories can make a standard outfit unique.
Here we have a standard barbarian leather outfit. probably already in the queue.

1) metal rings in the top.
2) the primitive looking necklace has beads instead of just a leather thong
3) the headband looks twisted and made of cloth
4) the asymmetric fur shoulder on her right side
5) The belt! This is the center piece. The loincloth is pretty standard, and it is already on the list. but beads hanging from the front make this outfit stand out.

I recently found myself recalling that short lived show from a few years ago called "Moonbeam City":

It starred Robe Lowe and Elizabeth Banks and desperately wanted to be a new Archer-type show but it never quite worked out that way - it only lasted one season. Despite that it wasn't a complete loss. It was heavily influenced by Miami Vice '80s motifs mixed with Patrick Nagel-esque artwork and developed its own "city based" world setting not unlike what CoH/CoT established.

Anyway the whole reason I've mentioned all this is that it might be cool to have clothes, makeup and hairsyles in CoT that are inspired by these Moonbeam City and Nagel examples:

The following pic highlights just how much Moonbeam City "borrowed" the Nagel style:

And here are some other Nagel pics to add to the idea:

Added "butt cape" under Skirt

Added "butt cape" under Skirt :) We have "stackable hair styles" under hair, but blue since it'd be a structural change.

I do think 'stackable' hairstyles should be a thing. It would make adding a Hat to that Ponytail so much easier.

Games like Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 have a "pseudo-stackable" hairstyle system. They provide multiple "sub-hairstyles" (covering different areas of the head) that can be applied together to create customizable styles. At first thought you might think that could only lead to horrible looking outcomes but in practice many of the combos actually look pretty good.

I'm a mayjor warhammer fan

I'm a mayor Warhammer 40K fan and I think some of the bulky, gory and darkness is missing.

these are my suggestions:

- Shoulder pads space marine style & Skull/face/Red eye
- Claw and gun under hand as attachment
- Orniment sticking out of the shoulder pads
- Mechanic claw hands, kilt in the middle between the legs and fur cape
- Massive jetpacks & boots with horns on the side
- Back ornament with heads hanging on them, Chain mail leather coat kilt, holding voodoo heads, bone shoulder pads
- Ripped lip mouth
- Tyrant shaped heads
- Full helmets "of course different, but in the same direction"
- Front shield on shoulder pads & full helmet type
- Triple layer shoulder pad & skull pipe on front of the armor going into the back
- Tentacles on the back with guns like you have but with gun attachments
- Crab like hands
- Medallion shoulder pads and medallions overall
- Mechanic hands with guns underneath
- Cracked shoulder pads with horns coming out & more of pipes/hoses sticking out of the character
- Two heads
- Tentacle auras
- Pet on your back with a gun
- More medallions!
- Skull knee pads
- Cyborg skull head
- Electric shoulder pads
- Banner with hair & logo . Another mechanic claw
- Cybernetic horns, with star. Cybernetic back pack and waist chain with skull on the end
- Torn flesh leaking with pipes/hose
- Ripped devil wings
- Mouth stomach and different helmet
- Everything in this picture! looks amazing
- Guns on top of fists and shoulder pads
- Helmet with horns and fins
- Helmet with Egyptian horns
- Morning star, with sculls and a Chanel
- Axe with a tube connecting into the back - more fist things :)
- Mechanic spider legs
- Horns,crab weapons, tentacles, etc
- Detailed claw fist weapon
- Back tentacles
- Nurgle tentacles & shoulder pads
- Tubes in the helmet and other detail
- Top on helmet with horns/tooth's out
- Flaming banners, with skulls etc
- Tentacle flesh cape
- Rino horn

I really like the terminator models as in the bulky Lex Luther type of body.

Hope this gave some Ideas :)

some of these might be too gory to work but I'm all for cthonion/cyperpunky costume pieces. Maybe we could get rid of the blood and replace severed body parts parts with skeleton pieces?

A lot of these could also work in a post apocalyptic style. Mechanical claw hand, mechanical spider legs. Really anything that replaces body parts with mechanical bits works well in a post apocalyptic world. Skulls would work...Just period. Skulls are rad. But skulls also have the apocalyptic vibe. Heck, color the tentacles a shade of green and BAM, radioactive freaks.

The suggestion for "robotic

The suggestion for "robotic/cybernetic limbs" for CoT has been made multiple times over the years. But while surfing around on DeviantArt today I stumbled over a few really cool examples of those things that I thought were worth covering here. These were done by an artist named Aeon--Soul. Enjoy.

I was providing some generic visual examples for the CoT artists to consider - I didn't originally set out to suggest a "sleek" type of cybernetics versus anything else.

But since you raised the idea I suppose there's the obvious difference between "bulky/armorish" cybernetics (i.e. RoboCop or the Iron Man drones) versus smaller "human scale" limbs (e.g. Alita Battle Angel or Ex Machina). So to answer your question I'd suggest the option to have limbs in CoT that might cosmetically look closer to "bionic replacements" rather than huge "arm cannons" that are obviously not natural. Basically cybernetics should ideally come in all shapes/sizes.

P.S. I also liked the look of what appears to be some kind jet/rocket pack built into the backplate in these examples.

Ultimately though if MWM is still "concerned" about what NCsoft may try to do about it I'm sure whatever we get in CoT will not look "100% identical" to these original limbs. Thus the reason I tossed out some third party pics that offered an alternate "visual variation" on the general theme.

I agree that there ought to be a gamut of styles, from sleek, through 'chunky', and 'crude'. They could have different levels of 'organic' feel. That might run from 'call it to bed' out to 'put it on the barbecue', or 'It's Dead, Jim!'

Also 'magical' fishmen style.

For another approach to 'cybernetics', it might be cool to add 'Groot' or 'Treant' or 'Dryad' wooden limbs and other body-parts.

I can't really find good

I can't really find good examples (tried my damnedest). But elemental arms could be cool. You know, like an arm made of constantly moving, but constrained to the shape of an arm of electricity or fire. Could possibly be created with some textures.

This also brings up a good point. How possible would it be to make moving textures as an option when assigning a textures to a costume piece (or even the skin of the character). Like moving stars down a heroes cape. Or sparkles on a golden piece of armor. Or even the above example of a moving element. Just a thought

Your basic idea of having animating body model textures is fairly interesting. If that capability is a "built-in" feature of the Unreal Engine then what you're asking for might be relatively straightforward. But if the engine doesn't allow for that on a fundamental level it might effectively be impossible at least for the purposes of this game. In general almost anything can be done in software if there's a priority/budget set for it; I'm just saying if the engine is not already designed to "allow" for animated body model textures then it'd likely be very far down on the list of things to get done at this point.

Either way as with everything else it's always a matter of if the Devs want to get around to doing it.

That's cool. So it sounds like the Unreal engine can handle "animated materials" as a built-in feature. Obviously the Devs would still have to work on it to make it happen so I wouldn't have a problem with something like that being gated behind a mirco-transaction.

Floating hands. I don't have any good visuals but essentially hands that aren't immediately attached to the wrist, so you could reach out and punch touch someone.

And if they could be "hardlight" styled (think Green Lantern's powers), that'd be dandy.

Also, invisible limbs would be nice. From shoulder to wrist, and from hips to ankles.

Shoulder pets have certainly been mentioned a number of times in threads going back as far as I can remember, but Prop or costume I suppose would depend on whether you wanted it to animate or be an emanation point.

Do we know yet if costume pieces will have their own animations? It is an easy exercise to imagine some biological costume pieces or robotic costume pieces have their own animations and movements even when the chatacter is standing still, or maybe just when the character takes specific actions, like changing into combat stance, for instance. If so, then I can certainly see shoulder pets being eligible for costume items. They could scurry, squawk and chitter as part of just being what they are.

But even without animations of their own, would it not be an issue to just have a static shoulder pet (or a head pet as Cooltastic post-scripted) just as part of the character's appearance.

Likewise, I would expect that Shoulder pets as props would be far more animated and could animate as both an emanation point for attacks, both on the shoulder and off, as well as actually being the character's melee attack or ranged attack. This sounds like I'm convincing myself to make a new package theme around shoulder pets.

I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.

The idea of an animated shoulder pet is definitely one of those "grey areas" between costume items and props. Like you implied one way to draw a distinction is whether the thing in question is an object that's serving as an emanation point for a power: if it is then it's a "prop", if it isn't then it's a "costume item".

That said I don't see why there couldn't be examples of things like animated shoulder pets that fall into both categories. If you have a strictly cosmetic shoulder pet (i.e. a vanity pet) that's not associated with powers then it'd be effectively considered a type of costume item. In that case it could animate the same way capes, wings, tails and hair will be "animated" costume items or be the type that statically attaches to your shoulder if that's what you wanted. But if you wanted a shoulder pet that serves as an emanation point for powers then it would be handled as a prop and animated like I assume things like guns or wands will be.

Yeah, the varied utility of shoulder pets makes it better categorized as a Prop than a costume piece. Costume pieces don't mode independently of the character.

Also they often need picture references :p The Prop thread has picture examples, whereas costume pieces just need to be "google"able :p

Actually my conclusion was that a "shoulder pet" could justifiably be categorized as either a prop OR a costume item depending on how the character uses it. If it serves as an emanation point of a power (regardless if it animates or not) then it's a "prop". If it's purely cosmetic (again regardless if it animates or not) then it's effectively an "animated costume item" or even arguably a specialized Vanity Pet.

Remember there'll be plenty of costume items that animate independently of the character (i.e. capes, hair, wings, tails, etc.) so you can't use the quality of animation alone to discriminate whether something is a prop or a costume item. How the item is used should determine if it's a prop or a costume item.

This is why shoulder pets are a grey area because I think you could easily have shoulder pets that are mechanically designed to be props OR costume items. They are probably one of the few things in the context of CoT that could be either one.

Not sure what you mean by this considering the hundreds of pics people have linked to the costume threads over the years to describe their costumes item ideas. *shrugs*
