There're a lot of prop/weapon request threads and requests stuck in power effects and costume request threads, so I figured -- like the costume request 2.0 -- I'd attempt to consolidate the requests into a new thread, and update the first post regularly.
To clarify, it's been said Props are objects you hold while casting powers, and presumably don't leave once the casting is done (e.g. a gun doesn't leave your hand once done shooting).
I've organized the requests into 4 types:
Type A obvious: for requests that are obviously going to be implemented
Type B: requests that wouldn't be hard to implement, and have wide comic book or fantasy appeal
Type C: requests that wouldn't be hard to implement, but are fairly obscure and may even have IP issues (obviously it's a judgement call on how "obscure" a weapon is)
Type D: requests that, while maybe common, would be technically difficult to implement (also a judgement call), this category also has modifiers on any weapon.
Course, I'm willing to recategorize any suggestion :p
Also, I think it'd be redundant to add twinned versions of any suggestion, I'll just assume there's a left/right split and any-ish weapon can be twinned easily.

Here's the last big update on powers: https://cityoftitans.com/content/what-we-can-do-powers
I'm of the school of thought that costume pieces from which projectiles appear are not "props", e.g., shoulder missiles or pets.
Also, I think shuriken, throwing knives, maybe even throwing spears, are effects, not props, since you don't hold them.

A boombox that you hold on your shoulder(or where ever you please) to use for sonic wave attacks (this could technically fall under musical instrument)
A yoyo that can be used for single target attack/hold, multi-target(PBAoE), etc
A baseball bat, wooden, metal, spiked, etc
A voodoo doll with pins stuck into it for some voodoo mamma juju magic
A RC car or drone remote control to use to drive/fly around to use as the emanation point for ranged attacks
A jackhammer for some earth control
Small, Medium, and Large sized slingshots
Various styles of brass knuckles
Various shapes and sizes of erlenmeyer flasks for chemical reactions and potions that create projectiles and explosions.

Classic.
It would probably be helpful if there was a quick blub in the OP that gave a definition of an effect, a prop, an animation and a costume. Then links to the most current threads on those topics. Hopefully that way random suggestions don't scattered to the winds. It is probably a good idea to have that synopsis added to the OP of each of those threads too.

I keep seeing Man At Arms and other 'real' weapons makers crafting weapons from virtual realities and can't help noticing how... well, Silly some of these virtual weapons look in reality. I think it would be Really Cool if our virtual designers consulted with real crafters, to create nifty-looking but Reality-inspired virtual objects and weapons. Make our things 'real' and not just a squiggle of virtual pixels.
So, say the designer wants to make a pair of giant scissors then either scan some real scissors or get some design input from someone who has Made some giant scissors, so as to take details from reality. Make stuff that 'works' and not just stuff that looks cool.

I'm sure there will be a reasonably large selection of real world practical weapons.
Is your definition for technically difficult, more than a simple model? IE something that would require VFX or animation of the model? Just wanted to clarify that a little bit. It seems that elemental versions of most weapons would be a specialty skin and some visual FX which falls out of the props category and into the decoupled animations. IE I could wield a pair of swords that are skinned as crystal and stone (no visual fx attached to the model itself) and then use fire and ice animations with the swords being emanation points. the props themselves are simple but the animations would be much more work, technically difficult. For that reason I'd classify the yo-yo as a technically difficult model as you'll have to make an animation set unique to that prop, to look cool.
Assuming any of that is possible I don't think we've seen a lot of details on how AD is going to work in the AB and how granular we can be. Or I've slept and forgotten the discussion.

In fact I found a 3D library image that would fit it just fine:

Agreed on the paint/calligraphy brushes.
The Soul Calibur game series has had calligraphy brushes as joke weapons before (so much for the pen being mightier than the sword).

Hmm, just noticed the traditional Medevil/Fantasy one handed Warhammer arn't on the list, of course you could also add Tech variants. As well as your Two handed warhammer and sledgehammers.
I have an... unusual request for props.
Can we get the various UI elements as props? Beating someone over the head with my health bar or constraining them with the actual lock-on reticle and such?
For those 4th wall breaking maniacs. Like Deadpool demonstrates:
Because nothing ruins immersion better than obvious 4th wall breaks :p
I love Deadpool as a character and even situations that "break the 4th wall" but how would using your own UI elements as props even begin to work in a MMO? Sure you can do something like that in a fighting game because both players are watching the SAME screen but where would the UI elements come from when you consider the point of view of any other player in a MMO?
I've seen people suggest a bunch of things over the years that might work in certain types of computer games but would be almost nonsensical for a MMO. I just wish people would consider things like that first when thinking about these things.
CoH player from April 25, 2004 to November 30, 2012
Of course they wouldn't use your health bar. They're use their own. Breaking someone else's 4th wall is just rude. And it probably wouldn't be a live version either with how much health they have remaining, which MvC3 actually does. They're just reach behind their back and smack the enemy with a copy of the UI element.
The reticle lockdown should be fairly obvious. Have a shrinking box with the right graphics around the target.
On that note, the triangular loot could be excellent as caltrops or throwing.
I skimmed the thread(s), unsure if this specific thing has been suggested. I'd like to see items that we hold up, but dangle dang below our fist. I think it would be a very cool emission point!
Some examples:
Jack in Irons' zombie head bundle was an emission point for him, great example:
I also like the idea of things floating under the hand too:
This one might've been mentioned, but of course.. holding/suspending things between the hands:
A dangling watch for a hypnosis power is pretty classic, yes. I second that suggestion.
Only worry is that they stated more than once that bones are in high demand for the player model, and to dangle right, you need animations, I'd think.
Ahh right, yeah... If it needs physics like that, it needs a rig/bones.
I think the props already have bones. If you can wield a sword...there's a sword bone right? So wouldn't these clocks and what not be using that same bone the "prop" bone.

*sigh* I didn't mean that (for example) you would take my health bar from my screen. That would be doubly stupid/ridiculous/impossible for a MMO. I simply meant what would YOUR health bar look like to EVERYONE ELSE standing around you? It would likely just look like a weird mono-colored "stick" that wouldn't really resemble a health bar much less anything else remotely funny or reasonable. Sure the whole thing might appear funny from your point of view but I frankly strongly suspect it would look silly/dumb from anyone else's point of view.
CoH player from April 25, 2004 to November 30, 2012
That entirely depends on how the UI ends up looking. In CoH, the prop would be the entire Health/Endurance/Exp element. But I used Deadpool there as an example because we don't know what the UI will look like yet. It could be comically oversized just so everyone can see what it is.
I will say that a mouse cursor would be a fun prop or animation to have. You click on the enemies and they flash, taking damage.
I just think that having some sillier options for the props would be great. Not everything has to be serious, especially in a game about dressing up in bright costumes and fighting bad guys.
I'm not against the possibility of having "humorous" options for this game. I'd just want them to be feasible/workable. I can think of a bunch of "cool" things I'd like to see in a game like this but I know many of my ideas would likely be so complex to implement that they would probably never happen even under the most favorable circumstances. *shrugs*

On the deadpool, LOL.
It'd be tricky, and tbh, not worth it, but I'd think you'd 1) replace the current healthbar with another object always pointing to the player, then allow the toon to grab it and strike with it. But yeah, it'd only be fun for the striker.
Might work better to have the toon TK the bar across the screen.

Seriously ... how has the purse/reticule failed to get included as a prop, even if it isn't used as an emanation point for a weapon attack? Bare minimum it ought to be a "prop" that functions purely as a costume item (which could then conceal the emanation point for any of a wide variety of powers effects).
Verbogeny is one of many pleasurettes afforded a creatific thinkerizer.
LOL you're totally right - it is almost amazing no one thought of it until now. Not only do we need a basic purse, but this kind of thing could be the basis for a whole bunch of other (what should have been) semi-obvious props like:

It is less my understanding than my desire, but I would think that a prop could be anything that
So in that regard, I would expect that shoulder bags of some sort could surely be considered props. I could even see the combat animation for using one (opening it with one hand while pulling something out with the other) would work for all sorts of contents like green bloody eyeballs, pixie dust, appleseeds, gerbils or lipstick

Even I'll admit that a "purse" might be in that "grey area" between prop and costume item. But as the last couple of posts allude to things like that might be able to serve as both... or at the very least they might be able to make two versions of a purse - one a prop the other a costume item.
