Grayson Tower once a lush high end Hotel. About hundred years ago now the once fancy hotel was showing it's age. Bright stone now faded by years of smog and grime, thought still stood majestic. Perhaps it was the architecture that makes it still a place those with wealth choose to come to, or they are curious about it's history.
Construction finished a year before Prohibition came into effect the Hotel was often site of parties. Eventually whispers of strange events and tales of people gone missing at the Old hotel eventually spread and business soon trickled and ended all together forcing the owner to seek to re-purpose the building. In the 1950, through the 70s the building housed a club and offered the party goers entertainment that wasn't official. In the 80s crack down on drug use and prostitution again forced the business side of the building to sink into the red. It sat empty in the 90's and on till 2010 when reconstruction began opening it's doors once again in 2012 as the apartment building.
The old liquor smuggling tunnels are still open and perhaps still move the questionable item or person. A speak easy bar hidden in a back room now served as an illegal gambling hall. The liquor still flowed as well as some other forms of recreational drug entertainment. In the corner surrounded by video monitors was Hotwire a normal looking woman brown hair plan face smooth features, one would say she was maybe a 5 or 6 on the good looks scale. If it wasn't for the fact she was also part machine wires seeming plugged into her randomly and her eyes flicker with streams of data from the internet. Some think she a mutant who integrates into machines she touches, others say she's a cyborg. What they all know is she one of the best hackers money can buy.
She also runs the game or at least this locations connection to it. The game was simple they watch fights going on around the city. Sometimes Hero vs hero, sometimes Villain vs villain or cops, often Hero vs Villain, even the rare Heros and Villains vs Monster. When a fight is found people can make bets on who the winner will be of course the game/house gets part of the cut.
The tower was magical in construction if not in nature. People know about the building know it's an apartment but it fades out of their minds like so many other buildings in the city. But no one seems to think of it when seeking an apartment, nor will open apartments appear in any listing. To get a place you have to be told one was open and only by those that know the secret. The building was a Villain stronghold those staying there sign a contract getting them included in the spell of protection.
The spell was simple it nudges peoples thoughts away from the building. The place was just not important even if there was a murder the night before on the front steps. Those things just seem to fade fast from the mind like a person heard about it from a friend of a friend, even if they were standing right there when it happened. Heroes tracking a lead would go right on by, they seen the building hundred times there nothing special about it. That how the spell worked not erasing memories just brushing them aside as if time had washed the thoughts away. It simply wasn't important to those not in the contract.
The lobby still showed signs of the once glamorous Hotel. Live plants still sit in decorative pots, the tile floor polished. Just instead of the welcome counter it was a windowed office looking out to the loby. The fellow siting in it was a short man 5'2" skinny black hair with brown eyes, even he doesn't know his heritage having been an orphan and raised in the foster care system. A bit of a long nose and rat like appearance, hence his nick name Ratz. Personally he hated it, but when a know super villain and or murderer calls you something you answer. His real name was Jarek Smith, so he figures he could have ended up with a worst name. He was the landlord and could summon the nightmarish shades when or if trouble came up. Personally hating the things but that was part of the job and the Owner of Grayson Tower payed well and he gets an apartment for himself.
Right now he had his feet on the desk watching the latest episode of The game of thrones from time to time looking through the bullet proof glass to the lobby.
Personal rules of good roleplay
1.) Nothing goes as planned.
