I went with the Comic book store, it's a nice place with a cosy looking exterior. I think I would stick with scrapping, I'm not really sure what that would be here through. Maybe healing as a secondary, I'm not sure.

I just wanted to clear up something for anyone who was worried about the Comic Book Store. The small store in no way would be a limit on the space of the physical base area. it would merely be an image or "front" for the entrance.

Definitely underground. It's a classic gimmick; like the old S.H.I.E.L.D. barber shop. People would sit in the barber chair, they'd a press a lever and the chair would lower into the ground.
I always wondered about what happened when when the shop was really busy four hours, and they needed to get to their base, though. With the comic shop, it could just be a matter of going to the back room.
I'd like to make my case for the Future HQ. It comes down to one thing, for me: who we are. I don't know if we've written much of a back-story/gimmick; but the way I see it is this: we're the first supergroup. I mean, lore-wise, I'm sure there will be some that pre-dates us, but as far as actual player-controlled SG's, we're it. We're the Avengers. We're The Justice League. We're the premier group. Players that found each other and planned their team before the game even had a proper engine, let alone an alpha build. So I say, let's have a Hall of Justice. Let's have an Avenger's Mansion. Let's have a location that stands as a symbol to our city of the people who are here to protect them. A high-profile base for a high-profile team.
The comic shop is cool; I get the gimmick, and I like it. I do. But but it's a [b]secret[/b] base. That sort of HQ is, in my opinion, better suited to a single hero, or a small group of mystery men. The "Stark/Wayne Tower" idea is also cool, but that's just a building. The future HQ stands out like a beacon; which is what I always felt like The Hall Of Justice was.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents. I'll go with what everyone else wants; but I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on this.
Oh yeah, I figgured something like that. I think "bigger on the inside" is going to be a theme for many SG interiors.
I really don't like to think of ourselves this way. I know that yes, this was the first SG recruitment thread started here. Yes, we "started" before beta, let alone the live game. But to me, it strikes of elitism. I prefer to think of us as one of the first, and hopefully the best.

I can see where that concern comes from. But I think that such worries will go away once we get into the game and were' in a position to carry on the spirit of the COH community, and help newcomers with a friendly, accepting attitude.
To me, despite how the word sounds, elitism isn't about thinking you're elite - especially when you are. Elitism is about treating others as if they're not good enough to ride with you. I don't want that. I just think that we've got the potential to really create something special, and we should run with it on all cylinders.

For those who haven't already heard, Frank (Kaxiya) and ZN (Shadow) have been hired to work for MWM. We couldn't be more proud of them. Now we have to understand that this means more work in their personal life, and that it will come at a cost to the SG till the game actually is released and running, but in a way they are helping to make the game better. So everyone wish them the best of luck if you haven't already.

UPCOMING ROLE PLAYING OPPORTUNITY!!!!! - were going to start a role playing thread based on the idea of the employees of LINC TECH (Lancaster Inc Technologies - the company responsible for saving those lost in COH based on the RP backstory we wrote...) - ideally it will be based years in the future of CoT where life has stabilized. I find it hard to write about my character until I create her... :shrugs: just how I am.
Yeah we haven't had enough interest expressed, so for now I don't think well be doing the Open RP thread. But if anyone would like to claim a title for anything within LINC Tech for use in the ongoing storyline were righting, just let me know.

I may be responding to a few very old posts here. I've decided to read through the whole thread.
I'd like to toss in the name of two of my heroes. I don't know which one I'll actually be entering into the SG (assuming I can only do 1) but:
1. Beta-1: Beta-1 was my classic "Iron Man" type hero. His name is Matthew Strak; but I'll have to re-tool his origin, as it was originally tied to the Rikti invasion. I actually had 3 Beta-1 avatars, each of them with a different power set. They were all Strak, but were just explained to be him in different suits. This is also the character I used to found [url=http://www.hollowssearchandrescue.com]The Hollows Search and Rescue Squad[/url]. I may use the "Beta-1 Rescue" variant to found [url=http://cityoftitans.com/forum/hero-911]Hero 911[/url].
2. The Blue Fuze: Fuze was one of my favorites, he was a speedster with electric powers. Not entirely sure if I'll ultimately use him or not; it'll depend on if there are good speed & electricity power sets.
What happened with this? Do we have a story yet?
Goldenrod has access to a translation spell, if that will help...
