Another prop that I'm honestly surprised hasn't been suggested yet. Skateboard. Hell, while we're at it, add a hoverboard. For a sci-fi version.

Not trying to split hairs on purpose but things like skateboards and hoverboards might be blurring the lines between "props" and "vehicles". Just saying that a skateboard might be, as far as the game is concerned, a prop-based version of a travel power like Sprinting or even Super Speed.

Again not saying that something like a hoverboard is not technically a "prop" but the Devs of this game might decide to handle something like that more as an "animation variant" of a travel power rather than as a prop.

Fair point. Fairer point: Decking someone with the deck of a skateboard. Didn't say that the skateboard was a ride only prop.

I'd certainly have to concede that you could use something like a skateboard -only- as a weapon. It might not exactly be intuitive, but certainly possible. ;)

For that matter, we may as well have stools, chairs, vases (extra credit if the flowers are still in them) and fire extinguishers. All have been used as melee weapons at some point, especially in movies. But I wouldn't recommend putting skateboards or any other improvised weapon like these in as props. Alternatively, I think they all would make great missile weapons for some sort of telekinesis or summoning ability. Such things would not be classified as props, however, but as power effects.

[hr]I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.

Well to take this point to the logical limit we might as well "suggest" that any physical object you can possibly think of should be a prop that's implemented in this game. While that might be amazingly realistic we all know that, at least for the time being, no computer game like this is going to be able to offer ANY and ALL imaginable objects in the world as props.

So what does that leave us with?

It leaves us with the necessity that the Devs of this game will have to prioritize exactly which props will or won't appear in the game. Based on this need to prioritize I think a case could be made that it might not be the "best" choice to pick something like a skateboard that would likely be considered a "mode of transport" long before it would be considered a weapon. As you pointed out I think the keyword here is the very definition of an "improvised" weapon.

Just saying that if the overall total number of props will be limited by design we might as well focus on having the ones that are most traditionally considered to be objects that are "props" in the literal sense.

'Propel' used to 'summon' a forklift that one could fling at the enemy. Is that a Prop, or an Effect? What about the old green 'Mercury' that was another result of 'Propel'?

It's a good question that mostly has to do with what's the easiest way for the Devs to implement it.

Technically the forklift produced by Propel didn't have to be a prop (in the CoT sense) because a character didn't have to physically hold it or animate in relation to it. It was merely an effect that appeared on the screen but didn't have to exist as a solid object in the environment. So in essence the forklift in that case was just a different version of a fireball or a laser blast - it was a power effect in the "shape" of a forklift.

Except that I remember the Forklift, the Pooltable, and the Car as solid objects that one could kick around, After the fight. Granted, not a prop that one could wield, it was more like a beachball. I remember checking DPS when my Propel result was a Lamp, instead of something more 'solid'. Consistent damage, despite the random object involved. I always imagined there was a Salvage Yard, somewhere, missing random objects. "ARGH! That was MY Car!"

I think this is the key point. If it's not something a character can hold, wear and/or wield then I don't think you can call it a "prop" even if its a thing that persists long enough to "kick around" before it disappears.

Skate/hover board added under B :) Vehicles is a whole other issue, but you should certainly be able to carry around a board to hit people with.

what if it was made using the same animations as the hover disc that was promised on the kickstarter page? Aslong as the board isn't so thin it should still work? Like I know it might not be a right out of the gate thing but you could still do it.

Apparently I had "polearm" under B not "halberd" so I changed to halberd since it's the better known name. Then added "billhook" in () :)

Halberd and Billhook are both

Halberd and Billhook are both Polearms, along with a plethora of other 'sharp-things-on-a-long-stick'.

Billhook has the advantage of also being a 'farm implement' so handy for witch-burnings, vampire-stakings, and other pitchfork and torches parties.

Lol. When I read Sofa Saber. I immediately thought of those ridiculous knives that people buy. So it would be a saber perfect for a sofa-bound warrior. I'm glad that youtuber explained the etymology of the word Sofa in context. That was a good video, and I'd like to see some of those design cues in game.
