Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

But it was an amusing

But it was an amusing interlude as I read a Fiennes autobiography.

(I'm now going onto another Fiennes book, The Feather Men, but the only Fiennes in the cast list of the movie version was the author, played by Dion Mills....)

The three most prominent countries in which we have people are the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, comprising a total of about two thirds of our total body of volunteers. What is most interesting is that the closest American to me is Warcabbit, and we determined fairly early on by swapping family legend that we're cousins of a sort (closest shared relative that we have positively identified was born in the 1680s).

A quote from Avel on a Youtube Channel that was assuming this very thing:

"City of Titans/Missing Worlds Media is NOT partnered with Epic. We have a license for the Unreal 4 engine and that's all. A partnership was most certainly not stated in our recent announcement/FAQ. Our FAQ only explained that we could not release certain types of content due to the terms of that license. Our license requires any release to our testers or to the general public must be in the form of a game named "City Of Titans". We specifically have stated that Issue #0 (which is barely an alpha release) will only have the avatar builder, a chat zone, and a play test area called "The Island". You may have a license to use Windows. Does that mean you are in partnership with Microsoft? Certainly not. How do I know all this? I'm the guy who informed the PR department of the our licensing terms and went over their release before it was published."

Also, while it may be popular

Also, while it may be popular to hate on Epic, deserves or not, as adopters of their engine, they have been nothing but courteous and helpful over the years to us.

There have been times where we struggled, they have helped. There were times when we were having issues with the engine and trying to wrangle with it to do something we needed to work, we go to Epic, and the end up making it a feature in the engine. As far as their team working on the engine goes, Epic lived up to its.name.

Their store is getting a lot of the bad press from gamers, especially those partial to Steam. I can't comment on how accurate it actually is.

Well if we're not going to

Well if we're not going to have a publicly owned platform, Steam needs competition to keep it honest.

But yeah, I've not spent a cent on the Epic store so I can't say, nor have I seen a game I liked exclusive to it.

https://www.polygon.com/2019/4/5/18295833/epic-games-store-controversy-e...
https://kotaku.com/why-people-are-so-mad-about-the-epic-games-store-1833...

Gamers aren't happy about Epic getting developers to release their games exclusively on Epic's store (so that you literally can't buy them anywhere else), when their store has so many issues. For one thing, the store/client harvests Steam information without asking permission. Epic admitted that their client was in fact doing that but claimed it was a mistake, and was caused by a "rush to implement social features in the early days of Fortnite". For another, again because of their rush to get the client pushed out so quickly it's lacking a ton of features that other platforms like Steam and Origin have made standard now.

Another reason why gamers are angry is because some of the games snatched up exclusively were crowd-funded (like City of Titans was) and during the funding drives there were promises that the games would be released on multiple platforms. Then, suddenly they are only available on Epic. One example is Outer Wilds, where they have to apologize to their backers because of it. Another such game was Phoenix Point. You can blame the developers for going back on promises but some people blame Epic for basically bribing the developers with enough cash that they couldn't turn down the offers.

Another controversy came when Epic created a "megasale" to compete with Steam. Paradox Games, whose game Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 was on the Epic store, pulled their title just after the sale began. It turns out that Epic forgot to inform Paradox about the sale, and Paradox wasn't fine with their game suddenly being available for a major discount. Even though Epic was taking the discount out of their own pockets, and developers would make the same money from sales with or without the discount, Paradox didn't like the idea that suddenly the game's price was changing (even temporarily) which might hurt how gamers would perceive the value of the game.

https://kotaku.com/publishers-pull-their-games-from-epics-store-during-i...
https://www.pcgamer.com/bloodlines-2-oxygen-not-included-removed-from-ep...
https://www.resetera.com/threads/paradox-removed-vampire-the-masquerade-...

Oxygen Not Included was another game pulled from the store at the same time. No reason was given for that title being pulled but speculation is that it was for a similar reason that Paradox pulled Vampire.

All of these mistakes with the Epic store and client have given it a poor reputation among many gamers. I myself don't really care very much... I have the Epic client installed and I have a bunch of free games through it, all of which are pretty great (Subnautica is my favorite so far) and the controversies haven't bothered me.

Im curious. The update says

Im curious. The update says "First, our current license with Epic prevents us from publicly releasing something other than a complete release. No playable demos with incomplete features, unfortunately. It’s also why we can’t just release the Avatar Builder for people to play with. That’s part of why Issue 0 is so important!"

How isn't Issue #0 a playable demo with incomplete features? There won't be leveling, experience, combat, missions, story, trade, loot, etc etc etc. How are you justifying it as a 'complete release' when its missing everything that makes it a game?

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.

While I cannot go into specifics, there are certain bits we must include in order for anything released to be considered part of the same game, and not a standalone product. That's really all there is to it. Issue #0 will have those parts. A completely standalone costume builder would not fall under the same category in general, so we prefer being upfront about it. While yes, we could mislead you, and release a "costume builder" which does include the needed bits without telling you, we're not going to do that, and instead label it what it is, a feature incomplete version which will be patched to be feature complete over time. This is also why a "demo" would not be the correct term either, as a proper demonstration build is not intended to be upgraded by a final version later on. Again, this is why we use the term Issue #0, to make it clear that what we are releasing will be upgraded over time.
