Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Are we on track?

My son literally grew up playing CoH with me, and he's moving to Chicago in a couple of months. I can ill afford it right now, but damned if I'm not going to by him a computer when CoT comes out so we can meet up in Titan City :).

It's really hard waiting. I've been with City of Heroes since it's beta (Alex Rowe - Triumph/Freedom). I loved that game. I've checked back here over the years, I suppose I've waited this long what's another one or two years. I do agree, rushed games (AKA Electronic Arts/Ubisoft) are terrible and are very very hard to recover from.

Hopefully the update today will give us a little more clarity on where everything is at in the timeline for release.

I can't make any official promises but I'm personally trying to get things going for a 2018 launch. I wish I could do/say more but that's the limit of what I can do right now. I'm starting to get help with my major coding project right now (I hope!) and that might expedite things.

We just treat each topic as equally important. We are focused on being as responsive as we can. Many of the people posting here are our backers so we have to be attentive - they've paid for it!

End of 2018 is 'First Release', which consists of the Avatar Builder and a Chat zone. With a little luck, we'll have more. Later stage releases will add more. And it would hardly be wise to start a hype train until we had a shiny video to go with it.

Agreed.

I still think our best and most likely path to success will be through word of mouth because the game proves to be awesome in actuality rather than a bunch of front-loaded hype.

I seriously doubt there will be any problem with news getting out to the general MMO market about this game. Even now I regularly see articles about this game in places like Massively Overpowered and the like. Trust me, the moment the Rednames of this game announce anything serious (like official dates for the Second Chance or beta announcements) the news will spread around the web like wildfire.

Sorry, Shadow Elusive, my hype train is already chugging at full speed! Especially with the auras update.

Seriously I can’t concentrate on any other games right now because my mind is squarely on CoT.

I think they do seem a lot like chicken, just a little bit fishy (not terribly, but it was noticeable), but I'll also admit that I've only ever had frog legs once, so that could have been due to preparation or whatever.

@Cinnder; I think it's only certain components traditionally in Haggis that are banned (lung, specifically), so there's probably adapted versions (or maybe it's homemade) that you can buy.

Now that's a topic for another thread! and thanks for the info, SE.
what can you do in a chat zone?
1) test out available emotes
2) costume contests
3) talk the devs into running and modeling various villains...like a giant robot, a lowly Rook, a super villain for hire, or Dr Tyche himself!

Nate and I are both Scottish (co-incidentally, we're also cousins from about nine generations back, as the clan he hails from was both the ally and enemy of my own at various times).

Haggis was only banned from import by the FDA, though the description of its preparation *may be* banned under certain Geneva Conventions.... ;)

It is only when we stand up, with all our failings and sufferings, and try to support others rather than withdraw into ourselves, that we can fully live the life of community.

I assume you mean of Scottish heritage, and not that we are fellow citizens? It's a funny thing: no one here ever talks about clans unless they are tourists or historians.

And before you can even get to the preparation there's the hunting of the ever-so-elusive beast. ;-)

Guys, guys, guys...can we all

Guys, guys, guys...can we all try to remember that asking for a progress report, asking "where are we?" and "are we still on track for this timeline" is not the same thing as complaining about waiting, or encouraging them to rush the product? "Well, a rushed game is bad" seems like an irrelevant, and to be frank, disrespectful thing to say. I'm curious, too. I want to know. I *am* getting impatient after waiting for nearly half a decade on this game I helped fund. Does that mean I want it rushed? No. Absolutely not. I'd rather wait another year for a game that lives up to its promise than to get it now. But I'd still like to *know.*

An entirely human thing to feel. It's part of why I popped up that crude video to give everyone a sense of where we are at. It's also why we try to keep up the weekly updates - it's also the reason we tried the Twitch streams for a while. The whole team, AFAIK, wants to play this game we've been working on so long!

Thanks for not demanding us to trade quality over speed - we want to feel proud about what we've accomplished when we do release. We feel SOOO close, but you know how that goes! Giving the reply of "We'll be done when we are done" sounds like a crappy response but it's a truism of pretty much any major project. For us we will be done when, after testing by a select group, that the quality of what we have is sufficient for public release. At my end the software project I showed has been: Make code change or add feature, wait 20-30 minutes for it to run and check for problems in the results, fix what needs fixing, repeat. Dull, repetitive, important.

Small but somewhat related

Small but somewhat related tangent, after looking at the CoT Facebook page, I just want to say sincerely THANK YOU to all MWM Devs. It's a good thing I don't have a personal Facebook account or I might have embarrassed myself counter rage-posting.

The amount of dull witted, mean spirited, blindly entitled posts there (like, just for one example, the lady who posted several times on one topic just to express how much she *doesn't* care any more) just has to make all of the volunteer work that you are all doing while simultaneously trying to live your lives--all so that we (who aren't actually doing the work) will have a great game to play--feel thankless.

Well, it's not thankless. Thank you. Thank you very, very much. It really means a lot to a lot of people.

PS- This post isn't meant against the OP or anyone posting here, I just needed to rant and the conversation here was closest to the topic--and thank goodness I wasn't rabid enough to consider starting a thread :P.

Since I don't know if there's a thread for thanks, I'll piggyback on this. Thank you for the hard work. I've never played a superhero genre game before so CoT will be my introduction to the genre. I've followed on and off for some years now, lurking about before finally registering. The world, and how we'll be able to design a character in such detail has inspired me to seriously write again. In a week I've been able to write over 61k words just for my character's beginnings and stages in life. I hadn't been able to write like that in quite awhile. So thank you, very much.

End of 2018 is 'First Release', which consists of the Avatar Builder and a Chat zone. With a little luck, we'll have more. Later stage releases will add more. And it would hardly be wise to start a hype train until we had a shiny video to go with it.

I can dig it.

what can you do in a chat zone?
1) test out available emotes
2) costume contests
3) talk the devs into running and modeling various villains...like a giant robot, a lowly Rook, a super villain for hire, or Dr Tyche himself!

If the zone is anything like Atlas Park central, all of that would be grand...and maybe some give-aways, or casino type-games for stars!
If nothing else, there'll be lots of hours for chardev/RP.

I was looking forward to this game but sadly the APOCALYPSE (To reveal/revelation) has commenced, meaning the great TRIBULATION is upon us. Beta will be a non factor once this begins.

The Time Lords disagree.

The Apocalypse always has been/is/will be.

As such, the Beta is not irrelevant, just 2nd to the Alpha, and definitely before the Omega.

Let's not bring Omega into a discussion featuring Time Lords. He's caused enough trouble already.

When they first came up with the word, he/she probably never dreamed it would someday need a plural form which rolled off the tongue easier. :P

This is the type of thing they mean when they say "most people really don't want to know how the sausage is made". ;)

Having worked in the sausage factory, even I don't know how a sausage is made sometimes!

I once had a job that involved pumping out the waste pits and grease traps of a sausage factory. Ewwww.
The chemicals involved are intended to penetrate meat and leave it with a delicious, smoky aroma.
Moose are made of meat.

For days afterwards, I smelled like a smoked ham. Had to be careful around wolves.

Yes, but that sacrifices "fast", as the devs are limited to their spare time. And a lot of them work pretty long hours at their day jobs.

I'd say that most topics just run out of steam naturally on their own. Almost no topic is -that- interesting to last forever. If anything an "argument" (even one that "derails" the thread) usually only serves to keep the typical thread alive longer than it might otherwise last.

Eventually someone mentions something that turns out to be more interesting than the original topic (i.e. people who wonder why threads often evolve away from their original topics). I don't really see a problem with it.
