Ok as you all know I'm a huge altaholic, so are a lot of others.
Trying to keep track of all the characters finances is a pain in the butt. SWTOR alone i have 52 characters across two servers not to mention other games. Would it be possible at the character menu to add like a financial status option? You can actually make it fun, over the amount you can put a status such as (broke poor, wealthy, rich ext). It would make it easier for all of us. Actually if you can add certain information to the character select would make it severely easier for us Altaholics lol. This can be added at launch or later once all the bugs and tweaks are done.
Just convenience
Wouldn't it be easiest to just make IGC and loot available account wide? Lots of games do this. Having to switch between characters to get funds or items is very 1999. Having a "shared bank" or stash or whatever you want to call it is an easy solution there.
Agreed. However, I would vote to make a shared bank an 'unlockable' acheivement or something just because I personally like to keep everything separate on alts. Even acheivements. But that's just me.
Compulsively clicking the refresh button until the next update.
True i do love my banks, but you don't always put everything in your bank. Lets say your gone from game for a long time. You forgot to put everything in your bank and trying to find out who has what. Its just simpler and more convenient this way. But either or both are good ways to do it.
Not to mention the auction items not sold at the time =^.^=
You could keep things on different characters without forcing people to jump through hoops. If you really want each character to have their own bank storage just have tabs in the interface when you open the bank. Each character gets their own tab(s). Now you have both character specific storage and the ability to easily see and manipulate all your stuff at once. If seeing those extra tabs is a big deal for you, you could always put in a UI option to only show your current character's tab.
As long as there is a mod that saves me from having to see these stupid sophomoric mods, I'm fine with whatever.
FIGHT EVIL! (or go cause trouble so the Heroes have something to do.)
Hear hear! I sincerely hope MWM isn't even remotely considering anything of this ilk for CoT.
Spurn all ye kindle.
They would have to open the code to the modders. You would have to apply the modified code on your computer. Otherwise all your code would be 'vanilla' CoT and not modded.
Be Well!
Fireheart
Ah, then we're all good :). I've never used mods that affect in-game graphics so i'm not that savvy, but this would be the best of both worlds. Copious flatulence-filled gameplay for those really into farts, normal gameplay for the rest.
FIGHT EVIL! (or go cause trouble so the Heroes have something to do.)
For those concerned, Mods would only be seen on the home computer of the downloading player and no one else.
Of course I intend to film mine and post them on You Tube...Heh

I would think that if they allow mods at all it would only be UI related. The kinds of things you're talking about is typically not available in an MMO.
Right. Even modding an animation would be difficult, since there are going to be enhancements and refinements and other effects that will affect the animation lengths associated with various powers. And I'm pretty sure some powers will have the exact same animations, but shortened or more drawn out depending on the power in question so as to maximize the re-use of their animators' efforts.
I expect that sounds will probably be moddable because someone will find the sound files in their client and publish how to replace them with other alternatives. I also expect that the particle effects of our power aesthetics will be moddable since that is just a one-for-one replacement of 2D sprites. And, of course, there are the costume mods that will spring up. At first, it will probably just be the normal maps, and texture files. Eventually I expect the modding community will get some very talented 3D artists who will end up creating their own costumes in full 3D glory. (the nude mod will invariably be the first to arrive, as has been mentioned)
I would recommend MWM does everything it can to nurture a 3D modding community as a means of crowd-sourcing new costumes. Costume creation contests would be a fine way to generate some participation, publicity, and excitement as well.
[hr]I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.
Actually particles are a type of material; not a 2d sprite.
This article provides a good introduction.

I believe .pak file content can be overriden but I don't remember the specific details.

Yeah, I thought that system was brilliant for head canon.

Will there be an in-game mail system, similar to the one in CO? That would allow for SG invites to off-line characters, as well as messages from NPC quest-givers, and auction status updates.
If I recall correctly, we've been told there Will be an in-game mail system. I don't know if it will have any of those cool features.
Thank you.
Love that four years later this thread still gets action.
Hi. I'm Hope.
