Doesn't look like anyone has posted this yet. I can't wait to use it with Star Citizen, it would be amazing for this game too.
Planned?

Sadly as awsome as the occulus rift is, its designed more for first person immersion experiances and with the premise I believe on staying with a third person view like in previous CoX and other MMO's as I believe they will be staying with I don't see it being fully compatible.
I never used it, I prefer third person myself, but CoH did allow you to bring the camera in so that it was first person.

I used first person quite a lot in CoX. I got motion sickness in some of the maps (mostly when flying in cave maps) and the first person seemed to help reduce that.

What is "Oculus Rift"?
The Oculus Rift are VR goggles.

Support trap clowns for CoT!
Thanks!
Just what I need! Goggles will only add to the campy silliness which is this little Silver Age kitty heroine!
In RL, though, I think I'll have to pass! :P
The unreal devs have talked about including Oculus Rift support for Unreal engine v4. I can understand that this isn't something many players will bother with, and I personally preferred the 3rd person viewpoint when I played City. But I didn't have the option of using Oculus Rift then. Perhaps, if the underlying engine supports it, it wouldn't be too difficult to extend that support?

Hello all, thanks for the feedback.
* Based on what I have seen on the Oculus site, support for it will be included in the Unreal Engine
* The Unreal Engine was born an FPS, but if you ever played the original unreal, it was amazing playing a "story" game as well
* Even if the engine supports it, you still have to "bake in" certain things to a given game to make the experience work
* I assume that anyone who doesn't like it / want it won't have to worry about it, and there is no problem with players playing with each other with / without
* Yes, even in COX you could change your viewpoint to to first-person
* I am wondering if there will be a chase-cam type 3rd person view with the Oculus that might be an interesting option
* Open your mind (or eyes as the case may be)
* Just imagine *flying* over the city with a full immersion view

I'm wondering that if v4 comes out, can they upgrade mid game from v3? Or would they have to start over?

Never tried the Oc rift but not sure i ever will if the price is way up there. Having the option for it would be neat for those that do have the googles.

The Oculus Rift is not released yet, only dev kits. So the only ways you could try it would be at a convention where they had a demo or something. Yeah, you could buy a dev kit but there is not much software for it.
The retail units are targeting a $300 price point. So about the price of a mid-range to cheap monitor.
