I agree. Personally, I think this could make the stealth gameplay in both PvE and PVP much MUCH more interesting than the system in CoH, but I look forward to more info and/or hands on experience.

The thing is, if it doesn't work out, we still can fall back to the older approach because the mechanics are compatible.

I kind of like the concept

I kind of like the concept that there are different types of stealth and different types of detection. It seems more realistic that someone might have sacrificed combat skill because they've specialized (or even over-specialized) in being sneaky or the ability to detect. Or maybe even the simple exchange, in game terms, of an attack for something else more utilitarian. For example, Iron Man may have used that space in his armor for a mini-missile launcher but instead he put in an infrasound module (detection). Or instead of a One-Off attack in his gauntlet, he put in a light-modulator to camouflage himself (stealth).
Conversely, it shouldn't go too far down the rabbit hole where it becomes burdensome in it's implementation and clunky in it's usability.

Yep, I understood that it was just an example, but I couldn't see anything in there that didn't seem more applicable to an FPS than an MMO. Was did you intend the example to illustrate that was relevant for CoT?

Considering that Unreal Engine was originally made for FPS, I suppose that would be natural.

However, I see nothing in that video that would not be appropriate for an MMO. Or are you merely commenting that the video was not taken in 3rd person view?

In fact, check out this video from The Secret World. It is also an MMORPG.
