Central Florida, enough funds to make spur-of-the-moment weekend trip to NYC and I even have next Monday off. Sadly the only thing that seems to be in the way for me is the lack of ability to get a NYCC ticket for the weekend - I can't quite justify being there on Thursday. Doh!
Dang... so close. If only we had decided to go to the NYCC this year regardless of this CoT news... Oh well, hope it turns out well. :)

To be fair I assumed something like that could be made to be "any" color in CoT. I'm just pointing out that the specific "suggestion" usually focused on the classic "white" eyes like many comic book characters are drawn with. Tickets are completely sold out for every day but Thursday.
Personally, there's nothing I want to see or do at NYCC, but I could definitely be there Thursday evening or Friday during the day for a meet up (Friday, only if it is outside of the convention itself, obviously).
Surely we have an NYC native who can recommend a spot to meet outside the Con. If not, then please pick a time and place and hopefully some of us can make it.
I'd just like to grab a beer and coffee and hang out for a bit.

Well, I _always_ attend NYCC, but having the creator working and packaged (as in, running outside of the development environment) wasn't something I was willing to promise till we got it working.
It'll be running on a 2013 laptop, by the way - either a Dell Inspiron or a Microsoft Surface, which should be a pretty good hint on how well we're doing on keeping the requirements low.
I admit, the Dell kicks the fans up to max when we turn the program on.
Still, there's Pax East, a potential December Boston meetup, and of course, the MWM South meetup in Marchish in Florida.

Yeah I kind of figured your decision to show-off the CC right now at the NYCC was a vaguely "unplannable" thing because you had to decide if it was ready enough on pretty short notice. No worries.
You better be prepared to melt that laptop for the sake of anybody who manages to find you to see it in action. :)
My job makes it so knowing whether I'll be at home in Florida or overseas from month to month kind of hard but hopefully I'll be around this March for this. :)

It means mostly 'I go visit family every February / March, down in Florida, and there's other people down there, and sometimes there's a meetup.'
Cali - really depends on anyone who happens to be in Cali. I think we got one guy.
Note: I'm not saying that any of these other events _will_ happen, just that there might be potential because I'll be in the area and have some spare time.

Personal rules of good roleplay
1.) Nothing goes as planned.
2.) If it goes as planned it's not good RP
I am unable to make it, even though I am relatively close by (~2hrs+/-). I will say though, even if it is dark by 7pm, it's a city, so there is a good chance that it will still be perfectly well lit, by streetlamps and what not. Worth considering. Another possibility could be to meet in a coffee shop or something.
As an aside, now that you have something working that you are happy to show the public, might I suggest reaching out to some media for an interview, mmorp.com, mmohuts, massively overpowered, and the like? Could be a good way to get the word out that something's a brewing.
Hi War! I can't come myself :(, but a buddy who I used to play CoH with--now that I think about it, he's actually the person who told me about CoH--lives there and goes every year. He'll be there on Thursday and I told him to say hi for me :).

Phew, I could possibly make it this weekend, Central VA to NY isn't *too* far away for a weekend trip. But I really have alot of work that needs doing around the house so the responsible-adult thing to do (ug!) is to stay put and be productive (double-ug!)

It kills me that I can't make it on such short notice.
I got the chance to meet Jack at a Serious Games Summit back in the day over a decade ago. He was a keynote speaker there.
At one point, before his presentation I had the chance to approach him and chat. When he heard that I was an avid CoH'er, he seemed both excited to talk and a little apprehensive, like he'd had too many encounters that turned into, "You nerfed my regen scrapper! DIE!" rages.
He's probably more skittish now, so be careful approaching him, choose your opening words wisely, and keep the exits closely guarded.
If this didn't occur on my anniversary weekend, I'd seriously consider the 5 hr drive just to touch base and pick your brain on so many topics- comics, games, pop culture, your password selection techniques, etc.

...but having my illusion/kinetics controller and my wife's fire/fire blaster turn invisible, run into the middle of a max-difficulty-setting mob, hit fulcrum shift, fireball and fire-sword circle, and then just get a heal off whoever's left before finishing them off....
well, that just felt epic...
