Also, the lore for Tera depended on the country you're in. For example, in the US, the Elin and Popori are different races. In Korea, they're not. That's a huge deal.
I had a lot of fun messing with people's heads by showing how the US lore, which said Elin were "shards" split off from a god or something, implied that the Elin don't reproduce. Then I said that (via the "did Adam and Eve have navels?" argument) that meant that Elin didn't have genitalia. It really pissed off the pervs.
That said, lore [i]can[/i] be an outline of what can happen within a game, especially if the game has some kind of story arc or such aligned with player progression. At its best, lore suggests ways to go, and provides hooks to explain your characters past and purpose. It can explain why there's a city and why people don't just all teleport between doors. Why there is a monorail line leading south from Skyway to nowhere. Why there are bus stops and no buses, cars but no gas stations, and runways that end at a cliff face. And so on.

Because a crafting system will impact Massed Player Events in terms of Rewards Competition, which then leads into the subject of Farming Raids and how that interacts with a crafting system ... and Lore can impact crafting in that a crafting system extends the Content that a game needs, and as such crafting materials need to be tied in reasonably tightly to a game's Lore.

I see but it still doesn't change that people were talking about same game. While this should be about CoT. Now if there were more examples in the last posts it would be different but this thread turned into a talk about x game rather than talking about opinions of CoT.
Why not just add a post that takes the thread in a direction you want?

I already posted about what I am thinking in a couple of post in the back and nothing more to add at those points. Being that said I don't like where this thread is heading especially in the last few posts it has been derailing slowly to something unrelated so It is better to put it a stop with asking how did it becomes like this rather than adding oil to fire by posting something that may or may not return this thread to its original topic.
Thread drift happens. It can be controlled to a degree, but never completely prevented. Just look at this conversation, we're talking about thread drift instead of crafting.
That said, I support having a crafting system in CoT. I'd also recommend not tying it to a skill level, unlike in WoW or CO.
I like the idea of crafting in CoT.
I just hope that crafting in CoT allows me to make similar powered ehancements to the ones gotten in raids in CoT.
I also hope the crafting in CoT follows the Lore in CoT.
