"English translations, then?" Mei Ling added the English below the Old Norse on the envelopes. "If she wants to learn to read them, I have classes here in the evenings."
Sings loudly thought of a potential issue with that. *Transportation to Bayview may be a problem for her. Bucky, where does Kami live?*

Bucky paused and tried to recall the human location... *Ironport is her current residence. She can fly, only magical reserves would be the issue for distance. I had imagined it was quite efficient, though seeing todays display, that may not be true... We'll speak to her, she has no mentor, just texts, which are dangerous to the untrained.*

"Ironport! That's quite a distance. Fortunately I know of someone in that area..." Mei Ling pulled out her phone and found a contact, then wrote it down on a sticky note. She also wrote her name, address, and phone number on it, just in case it was needed. Finally she put it, along with all the little envelopes with runestones in them, into a larger envelope, and wrote "Kami" on the front. "Ms. McAllister is quite good at teaching, she's even taught her daughter the basics. Does Kami have a family name she's using?"
Dr. Tennant stood up and stepped around to Kami's side of the desk, kneeling down so that they were on eye level again. "Thank you for being honest with me, Kami. Now that I know that your powerful magic requires a focus, I believe we can take this off."
With that said, he checked his watch, then reached up and touched a pad on the side of the collar with his right ring finger. It scanned his fingerprint and then unlocked. The doctor removed the collar and set it on his desk. "However, we're going to have to hold on to the objects you use as foci until you've taken some classes in power control. When you get here every morning, you'll first report to the office and turn in your card holder, cards, staff, and anything else you use as a focus. You'll be able to pick them up on your way out at the end of classes everyday. I'd also like for you to see me a few times a week for counseling sessions. We can talk about what caused such an extreme reaction in the danger room."
Putting yourself in another persons shoes emotionally is something that everyone has to experience eventually. It's part of learning to be a human being. Roleplayers do it for fun.
*McCallister?* Bucky blinked a few times, the closest thing the cat's face could show of the quiet shock. *Would she be related to Signy McCallister? I never caught the name of the woman at the tower, but given the string of coincidences, it may be greater hands at work...* He muttered, *We'll definitely get them in contact with eachother. * Bucky nodded again. *The boy who adopted her as his sister goes by Dragun, but mostly she doesn't seem to have a surname, or not one she's mentioned. *
Kami let out a sigh of relief, after the device finally came off. Oddly the color in her face improved from what was becoming fairly pale for her. She breathed a little easier, she readily set the cards and casting device on the desk, along with the plastic set of runes that came with her starter deck. Though she didn't think it would be much issue at first, as he mentioned handing over the staff she seemed to shrink a bit.
"O-kay... c-can I leave the s-staff at home? I-I can if I have to but it was my moms, it's all I've got from her, books and beads are trinkets, that I just made, but the staff's passed down through our family. I got it early cause of what happened..." She explained chewing her lip. She was still holding the lion backpack, so she could get it out at any point. She didn't like to say it, to her it seemed obvious why she was clinging to it.
"Okay, you can leave it at home in the future. But since it is here today, why don't I keep it here in my office until you're ready to leave for the day?" he asked, his voice calm and soothing.
"Well, I'm only that fast in the water. But I am faster than an average human on land. I also heal faster than the human norm, especially if I'm submerged. And then there's this..." Portia reached into her bag as she spoke and produced a large bottle of water. She uncapped it and upended it, but the water didn't fall out.
"Why, yes, Signy is the daughter I mentioned. Tall for her age, even by American standards, blonde hair? Sounds like the site for the shelter was better than we knew. Greater hands, indeed." Mei Ling smiled as she handed the envelope, marked only "Kami", to Bucky.
Lexi considered briefly - about thirty milliseconds - the recent bank robbery, and decided it was unlikely Portia was involved. Besides the different appearance, she seemed too intelligent to show off powers that could link her to it if she had been involved. But did she know about it? "Not be implying your involvement, but did you know about a recent bank robbery, perpetrated by a gadgeteer, a cyborg, and a hydrokinetic?"
Kami nodded several times and exhaled slowly, there were a bunch of other kids here, she thought, they should be trustworthy... She extracted the staff from her bag and carefully handed it over to him. It actually looked quite a bit more complicated than her device. The entire surface of the wooden and brass staff was etched with runes and magical arithmetic like her wrist device, though much smaller. The fine intricate etching gave the impression that there were layers, the lines of spell writing woven together, the largest things were the runes of the elder futhark laid out on the staff.
"Okay..." She said finally, gripping the paw of the lion bag a bit more tightly.
*Ah, yes, the neighbor girl. Yes, definitely sense the Norns at work.* Bucky took the package full of runes and herbs and carefully held it with his mouth. *Many thanks priestess, and should you need me and my charges for a task don't hesitate to ask.* He bowed a bit with one front leg then returned upright and turned halfway to look at Sings Loudly , then Mei Ling, in case she might ask something now.
It wasn't getting any better for Sebastian after 10 minutes of searching for the Nurse's Office, trying to remember Misty's directions from earlier. His blood loss symtoms from the power exhaustion straining his internal body were getting worse. His light-headiness and weakness were getting also worse and on top of that his vision was starting to blur. He dearly hoped that he could get to the Nurse's Office before he passed out while being simultaneously annoyed with himself for putting his own body under such strain....

"Left at the next intersection, then the third door on the right, Mr. Greene. Rest assured that if you do collapse, help will be summoned immediately. If you miss the turn or the door, I will inform you." ESSI's voice was intended to be reassuring. Some people, though, didn't find a voice without a visible source reassuring...
Ever seems rather politely disinterested in the lecture as well, though she still keeps an ear out for anything of personal interest that may pop up in the lecture.
Cher glanced over "i'll have to ask my governmental overlords if I can start up martial arts again, it would be fun to find a new dojo around here"

"Esse how much longer till the end of class?" Ron asked as he looked up to a camera. "Okay class gather around. Cher, Andy would either one of you want to explain how to make a proper fist?"

1.) Nothing goes as planned.
2.) If it goes as planned it's not good RP
*Thank you, Gydhja. I'm sure I'll see you around.* Sings Loudly rubbed his head against Patton's back, then led Bucky through the shadow under a couch as he looked for the shadow closest to Kami...
After the Cats left, Mei Ling and Patton went around to the back, where the residential area bordered the park. She looked down through the trees of the park, seeing the sunlight glinting off of the lake and rivers, and sent a silent prayer of thanks to the namesakes of those bodies of water.
Portia finally allowed the water to fall out of the bottle, but instead of splashing on the bleachers, it pooled into a sphere the size of a cantaloupe. She raised a white eyebrow at Lexi's rather odd question. "I think I remember seeing a news blurb about it. Do you always interrogate new acquaintances?" she asked with a teasing grin.
Andy stepped forward at Ron's invitation. "Okay, I want everybody to make a fist and hold it up like this."
He then moved around the group and started correcting the various mistakes he saw like incorrect thumb placement and bent wrists.
"It just occurred to me that someone who'd only heard the description of the powers used, and saw you playing with water like that, might jump to a conclusion." Lexi extended a forefinger and inserted it into the sphere of water. "If you hadn't heard about the robbery yet, you might not know how best to refute the accusation."
"Thank you for the warning. I'll find out when the robbery was and make sure that I have an alibi."
Portia made the water sphere react to Lexi, drawing back as if it was sentient and didn't enjoy being poked.
Sebastian tried to follow that strange voice's instructions despite never hearing it before, reasoning to himself that it was better then nothing. He took a left at the next intersection as he was told but by the time he reached the second door on the right hand side of the hallway his vision began to darken as his muscles relaxed. Sebastian collapsed on his side a second thereafter as his vision completely darkened...losing consciousness. Blood was still flowing out of his nose and began making a small puddle were his head laid. He would look like a mess to anyone who found him considering his upper torso was covering in small bur noticeable blood stains as his hair and beanie were currently being caked in it.
Bucky followed Sings Loudly into Dr. Tennant's office while Kami was handing over her staff, that didn't seem to bother Bucky, though he did watch the staff as he slunk out from behind the desk with the envelop.
*Good Morning,* Bucky said, hopefully Dr. Tennant could understand, though Kami could always translate. *We've got something for you from the Gydhja, to confirm some suspicions.*
Kami blinked and took the envelope. "Feels like magic, I'm not allowed to do magic at school, what's it do?" She looked down at the cats.
"Kami you are way too good for your own good." Misty said dropping back to her normal state of being "Take the envelope put it in your backpack or your locker, that way it wouldn't be a temptation. Oh and be polite and say thank you."
Then she spun "Something's wrong... " She took off flying through walls and anything in her path heading in the direction of Sebastian.
Ron was also checking people's fists. "Ya do NOT want to keep yar thumb on tha side of yar index finger, like ya're keeping a frog or something in your hand. Instead ya want to take yar thumb and wrap it down across tha bottom of yar curled fingers. Ya also want to keep yar fists tight, but not so tight that ya start cutting off circulation. It's important to remain fluid and yet still powerful." He looked to the class "Any idea what could go bad when ya hit with an improper fist?"
ESSI announced inside the nurses office, "Sebastian Greene has collapsed from blood loss just outside."
*Bucky can explain,* said Sings Loudly, as he dove back into the shadow... and emerged from underneath the lockers around the corner from the nurses office.
He came around the corner just in time to see the nurse coming out with a first aid kit, telling ESSI to call for an ambulance....
Cher piped up at the question from mister bolton "A boxers fracture, erm basically busting your hand bones?"
"Correct Cher, commonly people will hit with their ring or pinky knuckles and break their hand, known as a boxer's break, and that obviously impedes yar ability to use that hand. Known as a Front Punch, or a Front Two Knuckle Punch. It is extremely important that ya align the first two knuckles in yar hand with tha bones in your forearm for maximum structure so you don't hurt yourself."
"Also the knuckles act as a force amplifier, a lot more damage done when tha force of your blow is focused on a knuckle then on the flat face of a fist. Ya seen fights in movies how they punch with what seems to be the flat part of their fist, and even in wrestling. Same reason they really don't want to do a lot of damage so tha impact force is spread out."
"Bone is extraordinarily strong, ounce for ounce, bone is stronger than steel, since a bar of steel of comparable size would weigh four or five times as much. A cubic inch of bone can in principle bear a load of 19,000 lbs or more roughly the weight of five standard pickup trucks making it about four times as strong as concrete. However our bones aren't solid, veins, marrow, and how tha bones had grown affects it's strenght. Bet ya heard of a few supers out there who armor up and grow bone like plates on their bodies, now ya know how they can be quite resistant to damage."
"So a properly held fist and using tha right punch, and angle can deliver a quick, sharp blow that delivers some 3,300 newtons of force has a 25 percent chance of cracking an average person's rib. It takes more force to fracture the femur, maybe some 4,000 newtons, since that long thighbone is meant to support the body."
"Now that ya got an idea of how to make a punch see if you can bring up ya force to 3,300 newtons on the dummies. For those with super strength, or speed. Try to get below that level."
Cher stepped up to her dummy striking as instructed, making a fist was easy, though it was nice to be allowed to strike at something, as of late everything had been about control, calmness restraint it was good to put knuckles to padding.
Misty came into the nurse's office. "Oh my that's a lot of blood, I kind of feel bad for the janitor." Shaking her head she looked to where Stephen was now placed on a bed. The Nurse's office was state of the art like the rest of the school of course. Even so she looked around and drew on some energy from the lights, as well as a few monitoring equipment. Then she sent that energy to Stephen trying to aid his healing. "Yo Deadhead come too already. I already got another spirit haunting my turf I don't need you roaming these halls as well."
Outside a dark red 2013 mustang parked across the street. Inside Lenny and Fred were getting ready to stake out the school. Fred playing with his lighter "Why we got to watch the cape school?" "Because Fred we got the short straws." "Yeah, but come on this is just begging to be noticed. Like most of the city's super powered teens go here." "Yeah and bound one or two of them aren't in the IN crowd. Boss said that those with powers have stronger Auras or some shit. Would give him a big boost."
"Still don't like it Lenny. We playing with fire here, and ya know I normally like playing with fire."
as Cher started to unload into the bag a heat started to build from her core the rooms complex thermal imaging systems would notice the spike but before it reached alarm levels the collar on her neck pushed the carbon rods in and she winced stopping, happy to be sweating but clearly rather agitated at the collar and the bite. she muttered under her breath "fucking thing I know, I was just working out for fucks sake"
Andy watched the collar react and winced in sympathy, then stepped forward to stand next to Cher.
"Hey, it's cool. Don't get frustrated at it. Its just doing its job, as annoying or painful as that might be. Here, lets try this. Don't focus on the bag or on how hard you're hitting it. Focus on my voice. Let my voice keep you calm as you hit the bag. Okay?" he said as he stepped around to the other side of the bag and held it.
Sebastian jolted awake suddenly from the energy intake, regaining consciousness as some of his damaged blood vessels mended back together. He sat up slowly, trying to avoid straining his current weakened body and looked up to see Misty floating in front of him.
Memories of what happened before he passed out returned to his mind as he grimaced at his own stupidity ''Idiot, you just had to be flashy and throw caution into the wind. You overtaxed yourself on your first day in school! And for what? Just to show off too some kids in gym whom probably hate your guts right now anyway? You were not even needed to solve that problem. Marionette is going to be so disappointed...'' rang in Sebastian's head. Sebastian spoke up to Misty in sincere gratitude but put on a fake smile ''Thank you for healing me. Looks like you won't see me as an ghastly apparition today....''. Despite Sebastian trying to pass off his condition as okay it was quite clear that he certainly wasn't
"Thanks are somewhat premature, Sebastian." The Nurse wasn't aware of Misty's presence, so she assumed he'd been talking to her. Her light, practiced touch on his wrist might let him know she was checking his pulse. "Steady, but still slow and it seems weak..." She inflated the cuff she'd put on his arm and then released it, recording the results for when the paramedics arrived and summarizing for Sebastian. "Blood pressure is still very low, and I'm not seeing any notes in your medical file that your BP is usually low. Good news is I'm not seeing any signs of a concussion from when you fell." She removed the gauze packing from his nose and, noting that there had still been some bleeding when it had gone in, replaced it with clean packing. "Bleeding has definitely slowed down, but I think you should still keep your face down for a bit. Any nausea or dizziness?"
Sebastian spoke up to the nurse as he laid his head back down, getting rid of his plastic smile ''I am experiencing a great degree of dizzyness, some nausea, mostly just feeling weak for obvious reasons Ma'am. And yes I don't usually have low blood pressure....''
Cher nodded and took a deep breath "sorry it's frustrating to not be able to vent, I have had to learn breathing techniques and stupid stress managment, I miss getting upset, and beating the crap out of a bag, or running until I am exhausted, ya know?" She said as she hit the bag in time with each "method" listed. right as she finished the bell rang to change period and she smiled mischievously "well catch you later Andy" she said all but jogging off to the locker room, changing her shirt and tossing her hoodie back on stuffing the rest of her clothing into the bag, not even bothering to change out of the gym shorts she jogged off and out to meet up with Rob in the court yard, lunch was waiting, just not in this crappy school.
"So, ultimately this act leads to Lady Macbeth beginning to recede from the center stage in order to give Macbeth himself some screen time. As he's our 'main character' here--hey, look, the main character shares a name with the play itself; you're so creative, Shakespeare--we can expect to see this superposition of the husband over the wife play a role in the development of character--" The teacher, obviously caught up in his own lecture, seemed startled by the class bell ringing. Rob, in contrast, had been watching the clock intently for the last ten minutes, willing it to go faster.
"Oh yesss" he muttered to himself, sliding out of the desk and into the crowd of other students before the teacher--he'd already forgotten his name--could stop him for more introductions or friendly advice or whatever other wisdom the responsible adult would try to foist on a newbie to the school such as himself. Nobody got time for that; Rob had a lunch date to meet, and like hell would a repeat English class get in the way of that. School had sort of stopped holding the same old appeal for him about the time he realized that the only reason he was still here was because his mother had threatened to lawyer up or something equally ridiculous if he didn't. He'd already made it; not like high school English or History was really going to help him with this job. They couldn't say anything here that he couldn't learn faster and more comprehensively online, anyway. In some ways, that had been the most liberating revelation of learning to live with his 'condition'. As ironic as it sounded, there was a certain level of freedom that came from being trapped in a robotic killing machine working for an overbearing military power. At the very least he had all the funding he could ask for, so long as he was okay with producing technological goodies and not particularly moral about what happened to them. With that thought in mind, he strode toward the courtyard where he would be meeting Cher, and, more importantly, getting the hell out of this place for a little while.
