At least 16GB of main DRAM.

I just want to see some

I just want to see some simple social gestures, like /smile /grin /happy.

They don't even have to be animated and, if they are, they don't have to be giant, cheesy grimaces.

Be Well!

Raise hand, raise fist, raise hands...

Sometimes it's nice to have your character be able to go

I would like some really

I would like some really creative, involved and unique emotes, even if we have to pay for them in the cash shop. I would also like some easter egg emotes that you only discover by typing them in chat to see if they do anything.

Since dances are a popular emote, I would like it if popular dances from contemporary music videos were used. There are so many dance motions available online for free for 3D animation that I'm sure we could even open it up to third parties to place them in a marketplace for motions and emotes created by people other than the devs. They would have to be approved by MWM, of course, because they would not be client-side only mods, but rather in-game content that just happens to have been developed by people other than MWM. This would free up the MWM animators to just do the QA (eg. make sure it works for the various body sliders) instead of all the development.

I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.

Multi-person emotes. Dancing,

Multi-person emotes. Dancing, hugs, etc.

P1 would instigate and P2 would get a notification asking if they want to (emote) then click accept and animate.

I don't know if this would be

I don't know if this would be considered more of an emote or animation, or a mixture of the two. But I think it would be cool to have a cloud over the head mood emote. So you could have a cloud raining on you for sad, a sun/cloud for happy, lightning clouds when angry. Another fun emote would be a salt shaker over your head or someone else's, so whenever someones being salty you can let them know :D

They have a lot of this in the multiplayer Portal 2 game.

I want a row of buttons right

I want a row of buttons right on top of the chat window just for emotes. Slot whatever you want in them. The "dig through three levels of menu" stuff in STO and CoX was just ridiculous.

Sure, you could do something with a powers tray and macros, but powers buttons are big and power trays should have powers. We just need something big enough for single emoji or something.

Has anyone seen my mind? It was right here...

That'd be cool. Or have a tab in the emote thing for recently/most used emotes

That is a recipe for disaster without some sort of way to block it. Trolls will use it to pop crap up on your screen to annoy people.

Make it be a small popup in some place non-obtrusive. And yeah having a way to block or restrict it is a definite. Maybe when trying to do an co-op emote they just go into a pose and you have to click them to join? I don't know what would be the best way to do it.

In the Costume or Animation

In the Costume or Animation thread there was a request for a calm sipping of tea/coffee (while you watch your minions destroy).

How about a cheesy dual finger gun emote where the character "fires" off a few shots (hand/arm motion with thumbs)?

So just add another option of "Block X requests". Most MMO's have that at least for duels, some have for guild invites and trades. Something tells there has been one more option like that but I can't remember it.

Pretty sure I have also seen a sub-option in some MMO that allowed people on your friends-list to still do those requests.

I've only ever seen one mmo

I've only ever seen one mmo that had emotes involving multiple people at once and that was Lucent Heart, an eastern MMO that had "Couple Emotes" only available for characters who are married in game. The thing about that is that the character creation in that game was very limited and all the characters were human and the same exact height. Animations involving multiple models (where they're interacting with each other anyway) are near impossible in a game like CoT where character height can be adjusted however the players want, you either have to have preset heights for everyone or have everyone be the same height (and shape in some cases) or there will be all sorts of cliping and alignment issues.

Rochambeau (aka Rock-Paper

Rochambeau (aka Rock-Paper-Scissors), or odd-or-even would be a good two person emote that doesn't care about body dimensions. I would accompany it with a dialogue box stating your personal result, in case of low light conditions where you can't see the fingers very well, ot if a character's personal costume design isn't equipped with "fingers" per se.

But to acknowledge Planet10's comment, it would have to be done in a way that avoided griefing. I think the best way to do it would be to make it a 2-part emote. Create an AoE around the initiator with a range of only about 5m. Anyone in that range who sees the character begin the emote may join in and after three seconds or something, it finishes the animation for all participants, even if the initiator is the only one.

I brought it up years ago in

I brought it up years ago in a previous thread but I really liked the emote system in Star Wars Galaxies.
In addition to having emotes which you could trigger on demand with a slash command, words typed into chat would trigger some.
If you typed "Hi" or "Bye" you'd wave. If you typed "yes" or "no" you'd nod or shake your head. There were many others and they would trigger even if in the middle of a sentence.
It was really immersive having such animated toons. I remember being really surprised, when I left there for CoH, finding out that it wasn't a common thing.

I don't know if you can

I don't know if you can trademark a motion but better to err on the side of caution. Possibly they could put in an animation that's fusion dance esque without being an exact duplicate.

I don't really mind if it

I don't really mind if it ends up looking weird...

Though I wonder if they can add something like if (other player) is taller by (amount) use x animation. If (other player) is shorter by (amount) use y animation. If (other player) is (within variance) use default animation.

So you could have say a hug up, hug down, or hug (normal) I mean ff14 has context sensitive emotes like that, just not ones where two people do together.

Edit: though theirs is more if target is x race use x animation

Hmm, could there be targets?

Hmm, could there be targets? Like, consider a basic handshake, if there was a 'target' in each character's hand and the animation was built to merge those two targets, then the shorter one would reach up and the taller reach down... right? The server/clients could calculate where, in the space between the characters, the targets should meet, and then run the animation to fit?

Would that work? Or would thing bring up the whole 'Grappling' nightmare?

Be Well!

That would be really weird for me. How would I justify the spontaneous creation of a being on my character? I mean I guess I just wouldn't use that emote on any character that's not magic, or illusion based, or whatever.

But that then gives a whole host of new problems. Would the generated NPC be male? Female? Random? People would probably complain either way...

Oh new thought! The ability to sync an emote with people. For videos or pictures. Maybe as a thing you can do from clicking on folks. So it'd either have you activate the same emote as them at the start of the loop, or you'd wait till they do a thing and also do the thing... Probably the former as it'd be easier.

Well on a related note now that pole dancing has recently become an "offically recognized international sport" it's on the fast track to being included in the Olympics. Surely nothing that appears in the Olympics could be considered below the standards of a "T for Teen" rated game...

Therefore bring on the pole dancing emotes! ;)

Despite the implied connotations of "naughtiness" the "Olympic version" of pole-dancing would likely not be any more risque than what you see from the contortionists at your average Cirque du Soleil show. I've seen a few youtube vids of some of the "official competitions" and it's actually kind of cool.

We wouldn't know unless it was part of the game. ;)

Besides I've always figured that certain incarnations of various comic book heroes/villains could have feasibly pole-danced as a hobby/fitness workout thing (like that pole-dancing fitness craze that hit a few years ago). Tell me it's not likely something various versions of Catwoman wouldn't have tried for instance:

Boob socks, it's like when a costume has specific boob parts in it, rather than looking like cloth over boobs.

I'd like to flap my arms like wings, a little on the slow side so it can be humerus
I'd like to be able to twist my head all the way around like an owl, or like Linda Blair
I'd like to be able to vomit pea green soup, also like Linda Blair
I'd like to be able to inspect and even pick something off of the bottom of my shoe. Extra points if I sniff it before tossing it away.
I'd like to be able to scratch my backside absentmindedly
I'd like to sniff my armpit, and not like what I find
I'd like to make farting noises with my hand in my armpit

and you can put all these into the distasteful emotes pack, on sale in the cash shop for $3.99 for the bundle.

I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.

Skin tight and vacuum sealed are two entirely different things.

Yes. However, I see it as "Oh! Comic book costumes and art, that started off because the artists had to do lots of books and it was easier to color from just the body pic!" :)

Some artists tried to get away from it, but then it took them more time to do a comic book, so the comic was always late and for some of those artists, it just wasn't worth the wait, because they still sucked.

And now, you can see that's the case, because you're getting suckie artists who rush the work, but try to get that natural look! Which of course means everyone loses. :p

Traditional comic book costumes are the best!

They'd be more horizontal

They'd be more horizontal than vertical wrinkles. I mean depending on the material used and the size of what's underneath there may be some definition but wouldn't go full boob sock.

Skin tight and vacuum sealed are two entirely different things.

Even though I found relatively "sockless" pics of Catwoman earlier there are of course versions of her that take the concept all the way to 11...

Unfortunately tight outfits tend to result in "mono-boobage" IRL:

Apparently some artists are actively trying to avoid it. Notice in this pic of a recent version of Batgirl where they specifically noted that she's wearing a realistic leather jacket that keeps that kind of thing to a minimum:

For what it's worth I don't really mind some degree of "unrealistic" boob-sockery in my comics (and computer games) as long as it's not so hyper-extreme (like the above Catwoman pics). The following pic shows a good compromise between "full boob sock" and "full mono-boob" that seems reasonable to me:

Having all three be options would be nice (realism, boob sock, midway). Though this seems a more appropriate conversation for the costume thread.

Maybe an emote that lets you do the animation of one of your powers.

Uh. They're pretty pretty pegasus toys, duh :P

And yes having characters playing with toys would be great, especially if you made a super grim dark skully villain and then did it.

Also another note of awesome, Tara Strong voiced Raven and the in-universe cartoon versions of those toys. So Raven is playing with two toys voiced by herself while doing the voices of those characters herself.

I'd love to have the exact version of a "one-handed text" emote shown here (with the gum chewing and the "just a sec" finger raised). It's sort of the millennial's version of "Leeroy Jenkins" - the difference of course is that Leeroy famously ruined his raid by charging in too early whereas Negasonic here ruins her raid by not joining in when everyone else needs her. :)

Also if we could get that linked to a screen shot (from the phone's pov) that would be marvy.

You mean aesthetic related emotes, surely. As I have no idea what emote goes with Vampiric Emanation, or power control. Mostly because they aren't supposed to look like anything till you decide what they look like specifically to your character.

In the same vein having some sort of prop flourish emote might be nice. Though I have no idea how that would work if you have multiple.

This marv?

Would it be possible to include some physics based emote? This is of course a dirty example but if you were to trigger "suspicious breeze" while wearing a cape a little puff of "wind" would move the cape at about hip height. But you could also use the effect to summon up a breeze for that "anime princess" pose, you know the one. Another interesting one would be big-bad-wolf where the character's body deforms for that "big inhale" ala Looney Toons and then you could blow some trash or leaves around. Obviously if there was a little pig's house made of straw or sticks nearby that would be demolished but the world would be otherwise unperturbed. Not really a request but question of curiosity.
