It's a Magical Leveraging Device in its Primary role. A Nerf Device in its Secondary role. Don't know if it has a Tertiary role. ;)

Tannim, you're a hero. It obvious the amount of effort you put into this is exceeded only by your typos. But seriously, your engagement with the customers has been a beacon of assurance that this is a real thing and we will see the game someday.
[hr]I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.
Lol thanks.
I wish I had more time before this interview went live to show everyone some of the power icon concepts I’m working on.

Hear hear! Tannim has always been one of the voices I have respected the most on this forum, and that 'beacon' role is definitely something I've felt/observed myself. His knowledge of and passion for this game come through clearly, and I always appreciate his approach to design and his engagement with the community. The sometimes-hilarious typos are just a bonus.
In my opinion this answer epitomises why he's so valuable to the future of CoT:
'I did play CoH. I got to check out the closed Beta thanks to an old friend who broke his NDA to let me use his account and played until shut down. I played every archetype in multiple combinations and every aspect of the game. I joined the team during the kickstarter because I loved CoH and wanted to help build a game that lovingly calls back to it, but also carries the genre forward in the MMO space.'
Spurn all ye kindle.
Thanks for the kind words. You're all really the heroes here. If not for your engagement with us, I don't know how well our morale and passion would have held up over the years.

Right now most of my work is preliminary. Working with our programmers (who have been outstanding!) to get the combat engine set up so powers can be added to the game. We have to test each new ability as we go to make sure everything works before things get complicated with multiple mechanics. I’ve just started going through tutorials learning the art tool we’re using and it is slow going. We are also considering revisiting and redesigning the (redacted) system which is being put together. I like the direction it is moving.
ok, not to be the party pooper and all, but what does this mean for the timeline and release? itr reads like this is a long time off
will the game be out before the decade mark?
This game isn't going to have a single "that's it, everything's done" day. We've got a modular design and we're adding parts as we finish them. We've start pushing various movement powers out to the current client already to test, and it's going well.
As each system gets tested and added, the overall "completion" snowballs. Not like traditional development at all.

Release doesn't mean everything is done and work stops. Whether someone asks about "release" or if they ask "when will it be done?" they are asking when is Issue #1. That is always the case that i have seen. It's like Vanilla WoW... when you could buy it on the proverbial shelf it was 'done', for all intents and purposes. Yes, updates and expansions were still being worked on but the game was out of alpha and beta.
Compulsively clicking the refresh button until the next update.
That is isn’t exactly what Warlocc meant. Though I guess he could have been clearer.
Let me try to rephrase. We don’t have a release date or goal for one that is set at this time. We don’t have a standard studio with developers working standard hours and working together in a standard way.
The game as a whole is a series of modules being designed independently by people working part time when they can put in work. As the modules (or even pieces of them) are sufficiently prototyped and workable “enough” they enter their alpha phase and are added to the “game”.
As more pieces and modules come together, the overall development builds upon itself bringing closer to a “launchable” game.

come on, it is not hard to guess what it is i meant. you may get tired of havint to answer "when can we play" but by reading that, i get the feeling that it is going to be while before we are going to be able to get together in the game and do missions/quests. whether you call it relesaed, your first episode or first module, or what have you.
i did not buy this, it was given to me, so it is not all that bg a deal. i am just curious if this game will be at a playable state, as stated above, before the decade mark
Here are a couple other ways to look at it:
1. The game is playable now, in that there is a character creator and an environment to explore. But this is a Beta version that is not anywhere near finished.
2. We shared an update earlier this year outlining how in 2021, we envision progress on several fronts that will make the game feel more like the game we are aiming for at launch. Some of the features you raised (multiplayer and chat) are discussed in the update. That update is here: https://cityoftitans.com/content/next-steps-building-city-titans
3. While we think by 2022 we will have lots of exciting progress accomplished that will make the game feel closer to the game we envision for launch, we are still an undetermined distance away from launch. That said, we are hopeful that in 2022 CoT Beta is going to be an exciting game to play as we continue to move towards launch.
So, while we are reluctant to be specific about a date for launch, hopefully this can give you some idea of how we envision progress in the near future.

Right, but the question doesn't have a concrete answer. Or, perhaps the answer is 'Thursday'.
Because we've passed the decade already?
The Devs have been well trained, not to give definite answers, because then people use those answers to ambush them in dark alleys and club them to death.
We're all waiting patiently. The Devs are not holding the secret as a surprise. When they know, they'll tell us.
Be Well!
Fireheart
you may not have a concrete answer, but you do know if it is going to be ready in the next year or so
i understand why i was given this game. i have a feeling that there will be a thrid person on this key before it gets to be used to enter your game
You can enter the game right now if you want.
