Ok, just logged out and back in. Didn't realize I needed to do that at first until I read the thread further.
Edit: Still not seeing it after logging out again, clearing browser cache, shutting it down then restarting Chrome and logging in. And not seeing the Badges button under the Edit tab.

I took this post to mean that the badge stuff has been disabled again while Doc tries to fix the problem with being able to select badges that have not been earned. No?

I've tried it with up-to-date versions of both Firefox and MS Exploder - my Account page looks the same under both. Based on how many people are reporting similar results this doesn't seem like it would be an end-user browser version issue but I suppose anything's possible.
Sounds like there was some more fundamental forum update (i.e. the new "badges" button) that didn't completely take for everyone. The issue with "which badges we are allowed to display" almost seems like a minor secondary bug at this point, but then again it could all be related.

if your system is autologging you into the sight...try clicking the 'log out' button...then relog in. it's what I had to do.
simple thing that I am sure everyone had tried but figured I would say just in case.

Izzy, I don't see "Account" or "Badges" subtabs under the Edit tab. First thing I see under the View Edit etc. tab bar is "Current password". Same as Lothic, Redlynne, and others.

To clarify : logging in (not simply staying logged in, but actually entering username/password) between now (April 29 here) and May 29 grants the badge? From the announcement, I was concerned that it might be ONLY logging in on April 28 itself...and I stayed logged in, did not log out and back in or anything. But we've got til May 29? If so, I have some far-flung SG members to alert. Pardon me while I shine this Phoenix-shaped searchlight on the Cloud.

For those of you just arriving to the discussion, take a look at Doctor Tyche's postings which clearly acknowledge the badge-issuing problem and that its being worked on:
"It appears that the badge selection code does not limit availability to badges earned. Yay, a bug. Now to track down why, and to fix. Had to disable badge reordering to fix it."

That says nothing about logging into the forums. I assumed that since I registered on the forums here a long time ago, I'd qualify for the badge. But now it's register and log on? Rather finky to announce one criterion and use another.

I am now showing both the Kickstarter badge and the Anniversary badge. Yay for that! I don't see an option to change my badge display, but guess I don't need it. Thanks very much!
The fix is turning out to be more elaborate, so I added an extra display slot for everyone as a temporary measure.

There are plenty of forums that have strict rules against nerco'ing threads precisely because of scenarios like this. At the very least they can be confusing until you figure out it's been like YEARS since the thread was last active.
I don't really think this forum should be that hyper-strict about it right now, especially BEFORE the game even launches. But once the game is finally live the Mods probably ought to become just a tad more mindful about of this.
