Become a Titan
"Yes it does. With her ability over light and darkness, their not many like her."
"In the end there can be only one" The Highlander
Rosella's beams at the appearance of Sings Loudly, moving to offer a hand for him to sniff as she replies.
"A very interesting set of abilities, makes my skills looks like parlor tricks. And on that note Toni, I haven't even found a familiar yet...it's odd, seeing as most witches half my age have one already."
The cat licked Rose's hand, the tongue rasping gently. Then he meowed a bit, and Toni translated. "He says you are very courteous."

If you can't see an image I've posted, please let me know!
Rose chuckles, a earpleasing a warming sound before she replied, her words graceful and tinged with a proper Kingston British accent.
"Well I can't help but extend the compliment back to the ever gracious cat himself, not only did he sniff me, but he licked my hand. It's familiars like you that make me proud to be a sorceress." She adds with a sniffle. "Beautiful."
Shepherd teleported out of there to meet up with Luna who had been waiting for him.
Sings Loudly let out a meow. Toni didn't translate, but anyone nearby who could understand the speech of cats would understand it as "Clearly a being of refined tastes." Toni said, "He likes you, too."
Rose chuckles moreso at that, as she turns to face Toni, adding with a reply.
"Good, the feeling is shared. And care to tell him that I don't believe his owner is all that bad?" She smiles.
Toni laughed out loud at this, and the noise Setzer made could only be what a cat who is laughing sounds like. "Oh, no, Setzer is very much his own cat. He agreed to train me for his own reasons, or maybe because Oberon asked him to..."
Rose laughs long wit the pair, before inquiring curiously after her chuckling subsides.
"I see. Now who is Oberon? Is there another cat in this relationship I don't know about?" She jokes, slightly blushing at her choice of words however.
"Oberon is King of the Seilidhe court, who are the more friendly elves in Underhill. And he's the only being Setzer will come close to considering a boss."
Rose smirks at the last statement after taking the information in, replying with a wry smile.
"Awww, looks like Setzer takes after me in stubbornness, I'm honored." She places a hand over her heart before adding. "I don't suppose you know a place where familiars can come in a bundle pack or so, buy one, get a tome and realm free?" She jokes.
"Nope, not really, although one of Setzer's friends - I think it was that girl Rhythiel who was here -" Toni looked around, realizing he hadn't noticed when she had left - "knows a rather skilled witch who works at the Central Library, up in Alexandria. Likely knows most of the places to get supplies and do research." The cat nodded, then meowed a bit. "And there's a store down here in Clarkstown, Finger's or something like that, Setzer likes the smell of it; though he hasn't met the owner yet."
Rose smiles, before replying as she makes a move to pet Setzer behind the ears amidst stating,
"I believe I'll try contacting the witch at the Central Library first, then we could visit ah...Finger's. My mother has a shop but I don't believe familiars are gathered there. And on that note, care to come to these places with me?" She inquires with a unresitible grin.
"I'd love to. Maybe after rehearsals Monday?" Toni found he liked the idea of spending time with Rose.
Rose smiled, and decided to tease Toni in her reply.
"Then it's a date, you bring wine, I'll take the cheese." She jokes.
Setzer's purring was audible as Rosella scratched behind his ears, while Toni chuckled at her joke. "My favorite is cheddar. Did you need a lift home now?"
Rosella smiles as she replies, but it fades for a moment as she replies.
"I probably do...but I don't want to leave." She was content here, and happy, just relaxing with Toni, no pressure, no dragons, no demons, just a friend and his familiar.
"Well, let me know when you have to leave, I'll still be here." Toni didn't want to leave either.
Rose smiles for a moment, appearing to be debating something as she replies.
"Oh I will...so I do have to ask, why did you join Drama, I know it wasn't for the kindly Madison Groves?" She jokes.
"Originally, an excuse to learn how to wear makeup." Toni grinned. "After my first performance, I was hooked; I'd caught the acting bug. The opportunity to continue to annoy Young Matty Groves was gravy."
Rose chuckles at the idea, before offering.
"I respect you, but I still detest most makeup. probably because you rock it better." She grins, before adding. "I was always drawn to the stage I guess, Dad was a stage magician, theatricality runs in my blood."
"My dad's an art dealer, and my mom's got a news anchor gig in Detroit." The tense Rose had used caught up with Toni. He asked cautiously, "Was?"
At that, Rose's demeanor shifts, more defensive, cautious in itself, saddened. Even her impressionable smile slowly fades.
"He was also a Bokor, who fell in love with my mother and came to the light, so to speak. However, on my 8th birthday his past caught up with him, and he was killed by a former associate." She states softly, barely above a whisper as fresh tears prick the corners of her eyes and threaten to fall.
Toni didn't know what to say. How would it have affected him if one of his parents had died - or been killed? And on her birthday, no less. "I - "
Words failed. So he conjured up a handkerchief and offered it to her.
Rose looks up for a moment to eye the handkerchief, smiling gratefully to Toni as she wipes her eyes, folding it into a neat little square on her lap. When she speaks, her voice is soft and heartwarming.
"Thank you Toni, for everything, befriending me, accepting me as a witch...your amazing you know that?"
Toni blushed a bit. "I try. But when you get down to it, you're pretty great yourself."
It's Rose's turn to blush now as her caramel skin is graced by her namesake's scarlet hue, as she replies sheepishly.
"Stop it Toni, I'm just a average would-be actress and witch, your a Knight of Summer, incomparable on the stage."
"Squire of Summer, perhaps. Setzer there is the one working for King Oberon; I'm still learning. Still learning on the stage, too." Toni wondered briefly who had told her about Knights of Summer. Most likely Rhythiel, who had called Setzer for backup, had mentioned it in Rose's hearing...
Rose smirks, as she comments absentmidedly.
"Squire or night you sure are attractive enough for the job." She then blinks as she realizes what she said, stammering. "Uhm...I was talking about Setzer!"
Setzer made a noise that might have been a chuckle. Toni blushed again, somewhat deeper this time. Clearly he doesn't believe her explanation. "I think you're very pretty, too..." Toni grins. "Even prettier than Setzer." The cat pretends he didn't hear that last remark.
Rose's blush is even deeper than his own, as she looks down to Setzer, offering a apologetic smile.
"I'm sorry you have to see this Setzer." With that, she suddenly moves to grab Toni gently and pull it into a short and sweet, simple kiss.
Toni suppressed the reflex he'd acquired with aikido training. This was someone he wanted to grab him. Or vice versa. Instead, he leaned in as Rose's lips met his, just enough so that she'd know it wasn't unwanted, and wrapped his arms around her. He didn't know she intended it to be a short kiss. He hoped it would last a while. The kiss, and whatever else might be starting here...
Grateful that he hadn't pulled an aikido move on her, Rose continues the kiss before begrudgingly allowing it to end because of that stupid rule that people need to breathe to live. Pulling back gingerly, she states softly.
"That was uhm...wow, plot twist." She jokes slightly, grinning blushing at the same time.
"I like the direction this story is going." This time he leaned in for a kiss.
"So do I." She allowed him to lean in, deepening the kiss as she wraps her soft arms around his neck, before reluctantly pulling away for air once more, as she admits, breathlessly.
"And while I love the narrative, where does this leaves us Toni?" She smiles at the prospect.
"Friends? Superhero partners? Lovers, maybe?" Toni smiled and took a deep breath. "I'd like to shoot for 'all of the above', whenever you feel ready. Meanwhile, I'll enjoy spending time with you."
Rose giggled, a earpleasing sound as she replies.
"I concur, and hope for all of the above as well. And enjoy your company too...though does Setzer mind? Maybe I should find a familiar and set them up?" She grins, winking to the cat.
Toni laughed at that, and Setzer pretended not to have heard. "Setzer doesn't really need help in that area. He's a feline Casanova."
Rosella chuckles at the idea, waggling her eyebrows marvelously amidst a wink towards the cat.
"Is that so? I trust he is not aware of what the curse of neutering is on his wild ways?" She teases before turning back to Toni. "And as charming as Setzer is, I trust his owner is less promiscuous? Have you been reading scripts behind my back?" She jokes.
"No, nor do I plan to." Toni grows a bit more serious. "But you may want to cut down on the 'owner' jokes. As a sapient animal, he's in a protected category."
Rose nods, turning to lean down to Setzer as she speaks placidly, softly, seriously.
"I apologize to you Setzer, and I hope you did not take anything I said in offense. You have a brave heart and I am sure you serve the Seilidhe Court as a warrior of your caliber should. Am I forgiven?" She states.
Setzer nods, and purrs. Toni adds, "His people are used to humans seeing them and thinking 'just a cat'. They're still getting used to actually having legal status other than 'pet', at least outside of Underhill."
Rose looks down to Setzer and moves to pet him just behind the ears as she replies.
"That will take some getting used to, but it's for the best! And I can't wait to see what you do with that freedom, if your aid of Toni is any indication." Compliments.
Setzer purrs some more, then meows a bit. Toni looks at his watch. "Ah, yes. Thanks for reminding me." He then pulls out his phone and hits the speed dial. "Hi, Dad. I'm OK, there were lots of heroes there, the fight's over, evil vanquished and all that.....Nope, not a scratch....Well, actually I was planning on hanging out for a while....Ummm, no, just this one...yeah....I'll remember. I'll let you know when I get back." After hanging up, he adds, "Parents get worried all the time, don't they?"
Rose nods, before turning to take a moment before creating an oval of emerald energy before them, murmuring in Hatian french for a moment as distinct shapes appear within the void, before the clear image of a beautiful young woman is seen. Her own waves of brownish hair frame her cream colored face and light green eyes, as she purses her lips in a manner only similar to Rose's, clearly her mother.
Sighing, the woman takes in their appearances, before speaking softly with a traditional French accent. "I heard through the grapevine...and on the news, that heroes were sighted in Clarkstown fighting trolls, knights...and one dragon? Rose...are you alright? And who's this?" She smiles slightly to Toni, as Rose replies.
"I'm fine Mom, we're fine..and this is Toni, Anthony Mercer...he's...?" She blinks for a moment, having not decided what they were yet before answering gingerly. "My byfriend?" She looks to Toni for confirmation.
Toni answered decisively. "Yes, boyfriend. Bon soir, Madame, it is a pleasure to meet you."
Had he seen her before, maybe in the audience at the performance of Twelfth Night? Perhaps more importantly, had she seen him?
Rose's mother nodded before offering.
"I...see. I'm Amina Burdelon, her mother. We'll be speaking in person soon enough, but I imagine if she trusts you enough to show you her magic openly you already have a bond established. Bring her home soon, and don't do anything you know I wouldn't approve. I trust both your judgement." She states, before adding.
"And I like your familiar, not to to mention your performance in the Twelth Night, but don't think I won't curse you and 7 generations of your offspring afterwards if you touch Rosella without her consent, or mine." With that, the oval fades, leaving Rose, Toni, and Setzer alone once more, as Rose speaks sheepishly.
"So..that was Mom. You alright?"
"Yeah, I'm okay. But it looks as if 'all of the above' is off the menu until you can get your Mom to say it's all right. Not that I'm that worried about her curse, it's just that I don't want to have to make her choose between not following through and putting a curse on her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren, " - Toni was smiling as he counted on his fingers - "great-great-great-great-grandchildren, great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren, and great-great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren."
Rose chuckles as she replies with a smirk.
"It would be our grandchildren...actually our great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandchildren. And Toni, dear? I was always a rebel child, and I will smooth things over, she's really nice once you get to know her." She grins, before pulling him into a long, tender kiss, adding afterwards.
"For what it's worth, your skinny jeans make me look fat."
Toni was fairly sure he'd counted correctly, but Rose had clearly gotten the important part right: the word "our". The last comment, though... He looked down at his legs, then at hers... "Nope. The word you want is 'curvy'. Or maybe 'voluptuous'."
Rose chuckles as she jokingly states.
"You realize calling your girlfriend's legs fat or curvy may be a good conversation starter, but the conversation rarely goes the way you want." She grins before turning down to Setzer.
"Would you like to accompany us tomorrow when we try to find me a familiar?"
"He thinks that's a good idea." Toni grinned, adding, "And I said nothing about legs or fat, I only responded to your comment about your overall appearance. But if you don't like my word choices, perhaps I should just stick with sexy?"
Rose giggles in reply.
"That is a much better word choice, thank you Toni, you now receive a reward!" With that, she promptly kisses him again, savoring it before pulling away for air, looking down to Setzer.
"Do you mind any of this? And do you recommend a familiar?" She smiles.
Setzer started meowing at length. Toni laughed. "You've kicked off his 'teacher' mode. Translating... If you don't just want some trained animal, your best bet would be to find a spell of calling and binding. That would enable a compatible volunteer to come to you, and if you both agreed you'd be linked mentally. He thinks that witch Rhythiel told him about likely either has it or knows someone who does. And humans usually find feline mating rituals much more annoying than vice versa. The only downside is that we tend to ignore our duties to the feline... I think that was a joke." But Toni reached down and gave Setzer a scratching around his head just in case....
Rosella laughs but listens to Setzer intently, taking his words to heart as she ponders them, before replying.
"In that case Setzer, I would appreciate your advice and judgement when we consult Toni's friend tomorrow at the Central Library. And on that note, I believe witches and wizards also choose cats because of their intelligence, they tend to see everything, things we miss." She smiles, adding.
"Your also attractive, and don't shed as much."
Setzer accepted the praise as if it was no more than his due. Toni considered the time, and asked, "So, do you think we should head towards your home yet? I'm not sure where it is, let alone how far it is by rainbow..."
Rose smirks to Setzer before stopping as she registers Toni's words.
"So we get to travel...by rainbow?"
"I guess you were too busy earlier to notice how I fly..." Toni conjured a patch of rainbow under his feet and extended it so Rose and Setzer had room to stand. "After all, we can't all travel by bubble."
Rose chuckles as she takes Toni's arm, offering him the address.
"1322 Salem Drive...and we did do that on purpose, yes." She smiles, adding. "And you must do this during WIcked."
Toni entered the address on his phone's map app to get a bearing (and saved it to his contacts, as well ^_^), then took off. Though they seemed to be going very fast, the wind was about as mild as cruising at about 40 mph in a convertible...
Rose can't help but laugh in glee before shouting, not too loudly but too make sure she is heard.
"When I enchant a broomstick, we should race!" ( :) ))
The Parts shop the to go place for cybernetics and robotics. Was open thought behind the store the Parts shop van was set so there was little space between the loading dock and the van. ALX was loading it up this time with something more then gear. The body of a woman was securely bound in the heavy duty plastic bag and he easily lifted it up and carried it into the van. Inside the store his aid was nervous she didn't have full knowledge of what the artificial life boss did. However she seen some of the late night customers. Some came with a full set of normal limbs only to show up a day or two later with cybernetics, ones she knew were manufactured in the basement. From time to time that means the boss would need to get rid of biological remains. Arm here, leg there, or perhaps an eye or such. So when he told her he needed to make a drop off. That what she assumed he was going to drop off. So she remained out front afraid of knowing too much.
Personal rules of good roleplay
1.) Nothing goes as planned.
2.) If it goes as planned it's not good RP
Time moves on as it always does. Old events fade and new begins.
Clarkstown night life was coming to an end. Mary Lue and Sue Smith were walking down the street after a girls night. “I really needed that Mary thanks for this.” “You needed it, pushing yourself at that job of yours.”
The two continued walking the path they taken many times from the local bars. Passing an alley they passed more then once neither took notice to a shadow that was out of place. “Yeah the work load been a lot and Carl hasn...” Mary stopped and turned when Sue stopped talking. Sue was standing there a haze of black mist. “Sue?” She grabbed Sue and tried to pull her away from the mist.
“It’s to late for her she’s already mine.” Came the voice of the man that walked out of the alley. A man dressed in black but for a cracked happy face mask. Mary turned screaming and started to run right into two men. Or what used to be men. There bodies seem to have been drained husks of there former selves. The grabbed her and forced her to turn to their master. Mary could now see Sue was now just like the men that grabbed her.
“I used to be called the sandman. Now well call me the Boogeyman.” He moved his hand and the black mist came for her. She tried to scream a second time but her world faded into darkness before the breath left her lungs.
The next day at the Maul training room 12 Christopher Bassarab was trying to catch his breath when two laser gun turrets popped up and fired. As soon as it sprang up he vanished in a ripple of light and shadow only to reappear behind it and bringing down a sword. He was not fast enough however for the second turret took aim and fired. “Oww.” The blast wasn’t lethal, it didn’t even leave a mark on the exorcise suit. The beam setting was set to stimulate the nerves but not do damage. The room lights flash red and a computer voice broadcast “Simulation over. Score 43. Critical wound fatality registered at 11:46 am. Care to try again.” “No end simulation.” He replaced his sword to the sheath and walked out of the training room with a slight limp. “Never in all my days have I felt as worn out from training. That includes back in the 1600s.”
He stopped seeing the T.V. “Two more bodies were discovered in Clarkstown. Eye witnesses say they seemed drained like a raisin. Police are warning citizens to be on alert and don’t go anywhere alone .”
His fingers grip the handle of his sword “Joshua.”
In the basement of the headquarters of The Titan Legacy, The Map glowed as Hypatia Argyros activated the thousands of links between the wax models and the real-world buildings, statues, parks, and other landmarks they represented. She Looked at the alley in Clarkstown, noting the residue of the magic. She then turned her attention to the sites of the other murders, checking carefully for similar traces of necromancy.
Once she was sure she'd found as many of the recent murders as she could still be certain were done with the same magic, she tagged each of them with a visible light, running the spectrum from red for the earliest through violet for the murders of the previous evening. Now to find the pattern, and try to predict where the next ones would be...
Serial killers. Super serial killers. No one talked about the idea much. It was far too scary. Some villains killed for power, or killed those who disrespected them, but someone who simply kills with power? That's horrifying.
And that's why a young woman, wearing totally normal street clothes, is across the street from the police investigating the scene. Her ears are currently honed to be able to hear their voices, listening for anything distinctive.
Ever since that incident, the police don't talk to her anymore. She needed to learn things, though, so here she was, super-eavesdropping.
Those watching the scene will see a curious sight roll up to the alleyway where the girls were murdered, slowing her red motor scooter to a halt. It's a woman in her early twenties, with reddish-brown hair, freckles, and brown eyes. She looks relatively normal, but the things she's wearing... don't. Her glasses have some kind of HUD on them visible even to onlookers, the jacket she wears has what could be loosely defined as "tron lines" all over it glowing a pale blue, with gloves that appear to be weighted for fighting on her hands, ball-bearings and metal plating along the backs of her fingers, her knuckles, and the backs of her hands. she wears a short skirt over a pair of jeans on her legs, and her feet are covered by combat boots.
Oh, and a red lizard the size of a horse with gnarled fangs and spikes all over it's body slows to a stop behind her. It's wearing a collar with the name "Nibbles" on a tag hanging off its neck.
Even for someone with superpowers, this is a bit weird; the cops may know her though; Elizabeth Morell. She's an inventor without a super-hero identity, instead choosing to operate under her real name, though some people on the internet like to refer to her as 'Spawner'. The reason for this is her business; she uses genetic materials from different animals and modifies them, mixing ideal traits and jailbreaking the ones she likes, or that her customers have paid for. They can be custom designed by Liz for the purposes the buyer wants; usually guard animals, but a few have even asked for hunting companions. Nibbles, the 'drake' as she calls it, is an example of one such creature, being capable of fighting many brute-style supers on relatively even footing, though not as clever or creative as person.
What she's doing here is a bit of a mystery, given she's typically just someone who sells big creatures online to wealthy individuals, but it becomes clear what she's doing when she approaches the cops, "I'm here to investigate."
An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".
"not much to investigate." Said an officer the main crime team had left he was just a patrol officer standing guard as the clean up goes over everything again. "Same MO as before unknown form of attack, maybe magic in nature. Was sloppy this time or greedy going after two women at the same time one got a yell out." Shakes head "By the time the nearest Hero got here he or she was gone. Only the bodies remained."
There was a pattern forming. One noticeable if one mapped the local bars and club. The murders happened near the more disputed club sites. So far there were three that didn't have a murder within a block. The Nightingale, the Naughty Corner, and the Inferno.
Christopher knocked on the door before he opened it and entered "Hope I'm not intruding M'lady. I had just heard the news my brother had struck again. He's getting sloppy killing far faster then ever before. Normally he been more reserved even in his darkest deeds, but this... something happened and I fear Hel was right. My brother is no longer human. In every sense of the word."
"All the same, I'd like to take a look if you don't mind," Liz says, brushing past the officer. Nibbles will stay outside of the alley, waiting with the motor scooter.
Liz will move into the crime scene and, assuming that nothing is blocking her, will begin to look around. A hand activates the scanner on her glasses and the HUD flares up; the intention here is to point out things that might not be easy to spot for typical police and similar individuals. It's linked to her home computer, with the intention of processing out things like indents and boot prints that are notable, any sort of places the perpetrator might have touched, and in regards to the victims keeping track of what precisely happened to them, to get a better sense of how to combat it.
Interesting. Where was a magic detective when one was needed? The woman continued to eavesdrop, but these cops were unusually unhelpful.
Well, this was Clarkstown, these were likely new cops. Stuff like this didn't happen in Clarkstown as much as some other places.
Hopefully this new person would be the type to talk aloud.
"No, I've been expecting you'd be seeing me about these. I think I'm done here for now. These are the locations I'm looking at. Definitely necromancy, likely your brother. And here are some nightclubs near each scene. And here are three nightclubs that don't have any scenes near them yet. I'm going to check out the most recent scene, and then look for probable ambush sites near Nina's Naughty Corner. Care to join me?"
High above the crime scene a figure dressed as a buffed grim reaper looked over the edge. Glowing red eyes look out from the skull mask. Supernatural eyes spot something the crime scene investigators lost. Perhaps Liz would notice it as well. A bit of glitter the type one would see at a club, alone it might not have been much. After all the victims were out clubbing. This glitter however was near the other end of the alley a bit to far it to have fallen from the two women. Those eyes noticed something else rats tail under the dumpster the rat was mummified just like the victims. The figured turned and walked away from the edge to the center of the roof.
"I would worry for your safety if I won't go along. Yes I know you can take care of yourself, but years of teaching that a gentleman never lets a lady risk herself is deeply ingrained. As for my brother it would make sense he always preferred the ... hmm what's the word? The party crowd? Always going to the tavern and wrenching, this might be another time but people are people. Drunken people are easier prey for his twisted mind." He rubbed his shoulder a bit "Should I put on that outfit after all the trouble to get me registered with the magis.. I mean city officials as a registered Hero, this is hero duty correct? Still trying to figure out when to go in uniform, I mean costume. Or is it uniform? Even thought I'm meant to be on of a kind it serves the same function. Identification, and allowing one person to step out of that life when not in uniform."
"I fear I'm a tad nervous seems I'm rambling, forgive me M'lady."
Hypatia smiled. "Either is acceptable. And, yes, when investigating a crime scene a uniform is appropriate."
She reached out and summoned the staff from which she had taken her hero name, Goldenrod, as well as her own uniform which replaced her more casual Working clothes. Fortunately for Christopher, this was a much more discreet swapping of clothing than that of most magical girls of the last couple of decades. "Best cure for nerves I know of is to start working. Want to ride pillion, or will you use your own methods to travel?"
"Nibbles!" Liz calls out, and the massive reptile's head jerks up towards its mistress. Liz points at the roof, and suddenly Nibbles runs up to the side of the building, where it begins climbing with much more alacrity than a creature of its size should be capable of. It'll reach the roof in seconds, smoke trailing out of the sides of its mouth as it gets ready for a fight.
Nibbles loves fights.
When Nibbles gets to the roof the shadows around him swirl and tentacles rise up to stop the beast advancement. Acting like a fence around the Grim face man. The man turned and looked at Nibbles with red and black eyes. "Ya not get a fight from me beast. Unless ya insist. I'm here to stop the one who killing those people."
Christopher nods "I shall meet you in the lobby." Then his form rippled like someone dropped a stone into water and he was gone. A few minutes later he appeared in the lobby dressed in cuffed boots black pants and shirt. A Saber on his left side and a shorter bladed weapon on the left both sheathed of course. His gloves were cuffed as well and he sported a fedora hat. All of it was black with gray highlights. His face mask covered his features and ghost like. "And so the Phantom Gentleman is now official."
As a large lizard began to scale a sheer brick wall, the woman across the street jumped a little in her seat. Crud, that was bad. It was starting to look like it'd be easier to just up and leave and get some information later.
Now actively looking across the street (it's okay, it's a scene now) the woman continues to patiently wait to see how this pans out.
The elevator door opened, and Goldenrod looked over the Phantom Gentleman as she strode to the front door. "Not bad. But you didn't exactly answer my question." She twirled her staff, bringing it horizontal at waist height with the illusion of broom-bristles pointing aft; it stayed in place as she swung a leg over and sat upon it. "Need a lift?"
"To go against tradition of my sex from the dawn of time and confess I have no idea where this Naughty Corner is? Very well I submit and request a ride." He said with a light joking voice.
"Hop on, then, and hold tight. But watch where you hold!" Goldenrod smiled as she let the Phantom Gentleman get settled, then triggered the lobby door to open and they flew out towards the latest crime scene...
As nibbles crests the lip of the building, he'll begin circling the masked figure. no attacks, but there's a threatening air here. the message is clear; move, and get attacked. So stay put.
The grim figure will hear the sound of brickwork being pierced by something metallic, and then the sound of a cable being pulled taught and reeled in. After a moment, Elizabeth is pulling herself up onto the roof; unlike some, she's not strong enough to effortlessly pull herself up, but she's not weak either. She's breathing heavily as she stands up, but that clears out after a moment, "So, you want to talk?"
The man looked at Elizabeth "If I wanted to fight I wouldn't be standing on a roof out of view. Those people weren't just killed their essence was destroyed. There very souls been consumed. My Master will not allow this."
He raised a brow then got onto the broom "Is it an effect of the magic that makes siting on a stick more comfortable then it should have be? I assume that magic would also keep the rider in place."
"I see" Liz says, "I'm lead to understand that magic has certain kinds of residue, or imprint, or something like that on the environment, and that some other mages can track it. All my scanners got was fuzz; can you track it?"
She snaps her fingers and waves to Nibbles, who ceases his pacing and moves back over to his mistress, settling in beside her. He still eyes the grim figure warily, but without the masked figure making aggressive actions and without word from his mistress, Nibbles isn't about to attack. That doesn't mean he trusts the individual in front of him however, and wariness is to be expected of a guard animal.
Liz rests a hand on the large animal's haunch, and looks at the figure, though with more curiosity than fear or aggression. Who is this master? What is this person's powers?
"Yes, but this is the first time I've flown with a passenger. A bit of physical contact will let me keep track of your position, make maneuvering easier." She leveled off their climb above the rooftops but below most air traffic patterns, then picked up speed. Radar would have shown them doing about a hundred and fifty kilometers an hour, but only a breeze made it through the magical windscreen around the staff. Moments later, she slowed and began to descend over the alley. A roof was occupied, and Goldenrod opened up her Sight to check them out...
Reaper looked up spotting Goldenrod she would see him as a beacon of the Hel underworld power. "There one coming that can do that for you. Understand this I'm not here to save the day, I'm retrieving the being that doing this. I will tell you this he is a fool and falling on old habits." He turned and the shadows around him swirled into a portal and he passed through vanishing into the fading darkness.
Christopher had to accept many things in his new life. FLYING wasn't something he would ever get used to. He held onto her and tried not to cross any barrier of personal space at the same time. "I don't think I will be asking for rides vary often. No offence just not my... oh my how high are we?" Then his eyes spot the people on the top of the building. "Seems we aren't the only ones looking for my brother."
Darn it all!
It turns out that people going up to the top of a roof are much harder to super-eavesdrop on than those simply across a not-busy street. The woman wasn't getting anything useful.
Huh, more people. They're likely the magic investigators, so THEY should be coming down to look at it. And hopefully THEY will be the sorts to think aloud.
This was so much easier before her hero license was revoked.
If nothing else, they likely won't think twice about her. She's wearing civilian clothes and messing with a notepad while sitting on a bench, so at a glance she's just an oblivious bystander.
All of a sudden a man in a purple and gold, armoured jester suit can be seen gliding above the streets on what appears to be a purple and gold floating disk with what appears to be a smiley face painted on the bottom of it, he wears a utility belt filled with odd gadgets, and more importantly he has picked up an elderly woman by the ankle, with a chuckle and snort he sings out "Alright now, It's time to play!!!! On the busy motorway!!!" before dropping the terrified granny into the heavy traffic below
"LOOK OUT!" The Phantom Gentleman said right before he vanished in a flash. Only to be falling beside the elderly woman, then flashing away again inches above a Mac truck. The two reappear above the sidewalk and fall with him taking the brunt of the impact. "Sorry M'lady the landing was a bit rough." The woman laughed "Oh my that was almost as much fun as sky diving. Don't worry dear I maybe old, but I can take a little tumble now and then. If you weren't there I would ended up road pizza."
The helped her up even thought the woman didn't seem to need it. Then he turned his view to the madman.
Joshua stood before the exoskeleton before him. "You sure this thing will help me control this hunger?" An artificial voice spoke as the android walked around the work table. The basic construction was of the ALX android model heavily modified black and titanium color with red LED lighting. "Magic is outside my field of expertise. However I have been studying the subject and your input had advanced that research. From the data I have this exo-suit will both assist and amplify your abilities."
"About time is seems your... hunger has gained attention of the authorities and the Heroes." Joshua turned his fists shaking slightly "Power, all I wanted. Immortality and here I am as much an addict as the fools I sold drugs to."
"All entities need. Food, energy, sunlight, or heat. There is nothing in creation that doesn't take from something else, even suns that provide heat and light are compound elements from earlier suns, that formed from elements of compressed gasses remains from the big bang."
"Your payment is on the desk I'm paying you for the suit not philosophy I am hundreds of years older then you." "And yet no matter what you became you are still human." The android headed out taking the briefcase. "If anything goes wrong with the suit call the Parts Store we will send someone over."
Goldenrod went into a power dive as soon as the Phantom Gentleman was gone. She pulled up behind the jester - who seemed to be using technology, for all that meant- and sent a flurry of bolts of magical energy from her broom-staff streaking towards him. They were a mix; half levin-bolts, Crafted to knock a normal, unprotected human unconscious, and the other half hex-bolts, Crafted to release tiny bits of lightning into any device they struck, with results much like a localized electro-magnetic pulse.
Along with the volley, she sent a whispered warning guided to the jester's ear: "Whatever you do, for good or ill, comes back upon you threefold."
The Jester was faster then Goldenrod thought dodging about 75% of the attacks from the flurry, the hex bolts did more than the Levin bolts due to the armour he was wearing, but the hex bolts did manage to shut down some tech within his suit "You shut off my heat vision... spankie spankie....", as he says this he throws a chuckle bomb at your face
After the masked man disappears, Liz moves to the edge of the building she's standing on with her pet drake, looking at the scene curiously. A super fight here and now? Why?
Nibbles moves up behind her, hackles raised at the sudden sounds of violence.
The bomb was caught in the windscreen when it burst, giving Goldenrod a chance to purify the air with a spell before the gas reached her. I don't have time for this, she thought. But if she didn't handle it now, she'd have to later, and likely when she was even busier. She accelerated toward the jester, veering to pass on his right at the last moment...
