Justify how much the pricing should be? Some of that will depend on the amount of the player base. If we have 50,000 players. What would be enough to keep the game going? Let's assume we only have 25,000 players willing to even pay anything. Would those 25,000 spending 4 a month be enough? Not likely.
I think the pricing above and beyond a 15 a month sub would have to depend on the size of the player base and their willingness to support the game.
So ... in other words ... [i]too many variables[/i] to be able categorically state anything (useful) predictively, with any (useful) degree of certainty, this far in advance.
Guess you're just going to have to settle for Wait And See™ then.

For what it's worth, I always assumed that we would get animation sets in much the same way COH provided new costume sets. Yes, that absolutely means paying for them. On the other hand, I also expect that there will be some costume/animation "pieces", perhaps even sets, that can be earned in-game or bought using IGC. These might be from badges or they might be from Mr. Miyagi teaching the character a new method to block an attack. Or from the ever popular faction quartermaster.

It has been stated that everything on the star mart will be possible to unlock by playing the game. While farming IGC, selling it for stars to another player and then buy stuff on the star mart is technically earning it by playing the game, some other posts suggest that that will not be the only option for some or all items on the star mart.
It is not yet clearly decided, I suppose.

I am the kind of person that will happily spend $75 for the box set or digital download, $20-$30 a month on sub fees and another $20 or so a month on cool things in the cash shop. I realize that I am not the majority. If there is a way to buy a yearly sub for a discount like in CoH, I will do that as well. But I will only do this for a game that I totally enjoy, which I think I will in this case. I will do it not only to add to my enjoyment but to perpetuate a community. I say bring it on, put lots of cool stuff in the shop. The market will ultimately decide what people will pay for a given perk. I above all other motivations in this game would not want to see this game turn into a short lived cash grab by the developers. Rather a long lived siphon on my income. It's good that I can decide what it is worth to me and pay in stars for it if I think it merits. I like this talk of monetizing things that are extra. It sounds like it will let everyone pay up to the amount they think is worth putting into it.

The Vanguard costume pieces could be gained by farming Vanguard merits and the roman themed costume pieces could be gained by playing through a task force. I can imagine those where the ones Brand X referred to.
I do expect that we will get some things for free (paying for them with IGC or earning them in some other in-game sense will work for this value of "free"), but most such items will probably only be available through the store.

A player could also earn the roman costume pieces by running the ITF 5 times and after a time, the pieces became available for purchase on the market. The differences are in game actions unlocked access to pieces for a character. A player spending money in the cash shop unlocked access to the same pieces for the entire account.

I never assumed animations would be a la carte. I'd gathered that they are tied to your framework. Example:
You pick your primary powerest framework. (Burning)
You pick the animation set for burning (brain blasts, wrist throwers, punch shot, chest blasts, scream). I chose scream.
Then it appears my character breathes fire using the animations for scream. All the powers in that burning framework.
Then you will further get the FX you want. It's not orange fire.. it's red liquid.
Now my primary powerset I define as "Lava Spitting" but is really functionally the same as all the burning primary framework power selection. And I get to do another choice for my secondary set and tertiary set.
I do not get to choose from ALL the animations for each power. I get the suite with premade suite of animations. A ranged AoE; a beam; a blast; an arc; a PBAoE; etc.
This sets the limit for the devs of what animations they need make for each set. Ranged sets will have a list of animations for sale. Melee sets will have a list of animations for sale. Controller sets, buffer sets too.
The FX choices, devs have stated will depend on the framework chosen.
Can devs speak to the nature of these animation sets? By suite or a la carte?

it was purely my opinion and continues to be so. people are more than welcome to disagree with my concerns on any given subject.
in regards to the rest of the dissection of my post...I am well aware of everything you brought up and I still have the same concerns. am I "jumping at shadows?" no more so than: your "drinking the koolaid". it's all an unknown at this time given we are still in development. as such, any and all concerns should be voiced when something arises that a person feels concerned about, especially since NOW is the best time to voice said concerns versus waiting till AFTER a game is released.

I expect there may be a mix of free and paid-for animations, too. For example, everyone gets the new Double-fisted Kirk Smash animation for free, but you need to hit the Starmart for the Single-Fist Three-Point Ground Punch animation.

I share many of your concerns, but I think the devs are smart enough to realize that while the "koolaid drinkers" or Whales might be willing to constantly throw handfulls of cash at the game, this is probably not the case for the other 99% of gamers out there. I'm sure they will strive to achieve a fair balance.
One positive is that they have expressed the desire to make it possible to get most items offered in the store via gameplay, so the store might best be though of as a "shortcut". Of course, as you have said - it's all still under development.
This is why I prefer to base my pricing assumptions around 100 Stars to start and then work my way up from there. That's basically $1 ... and as I've mentioned before, all kinds of people think NOTHING of dropping at least $1 per day into vending machines for drinks and snacks. Price the cost of "buy in" low enough and you'll have lots of people deciding "sure, why not?" and chipping in. It might be "nickle and dime" stuff to a single Player, but if you've got 10k or more purchases going on it adds up on MWM's end of things.

I have some general questions regarding combat and animations. This isn't a twitch fighting game. Understood. But, are combat (melee) animations only proactive (attack) or will there be a reactive (defensive) component as well? I simply loved the Street Justice animations. I cackled almost every time I used Rib Cracker. Muay Thai heaven. The point I'd like to make is that all melee animations were attack, attack, attack. No defensive melee animations as I remember.
Judo and aikido are by their nature defensive and very effective I might add.
They also rely on grappling and throws. City of Heroes had a game engine limitation that game avatars couldn't be allowed to interact with each other. That meant that PC 1 couldn't pick up PC 2 and give them a spin/toss ride. Likewise, PC 1 couldn't "grab" PC 2 and throw them, either to the floor or through a window. There was no "grabbing" possible, and with no grabs came a vastly reduced opportunity for defensive animations of the type you're talking about.
It was possible to see a PC avatar do some "ducking and weaving" animations when being attacked and not attacking when running a Super Reflexes Powerset, but those were little more than "idle" animations when you weren't commanding your PC to move or do something, so they really had no meaning.
And for a variety of reasons, I figure that the game engine limitations that City of Heroes labored under will be seen as essentially fairly decent reasons to not break with that tradition when it comes to City of Titans. That's because getting Avatar 1 to synchronize with Avatar 2 when it comes to things like grabs and animations is the sort of stuff that Unreal 4 CAN DO ... so long as you aren't dealing with too wide of a variation in sizes (ie. everyone is relatively the same height and so on). Things get dicey though when you start getting into the size range variations that we're going to have available to us as Players just for our PCs. Think about what it means for grapples and throws when dealing with animations that need to be able to handle 4-10 ft tall vs 4-10 ft tall. So long as things are "even" it'll work okay, but once you start edging towards the extremes of that matching, stuff starts breaking down (and looking VERY SILLY) in a hurry!
So my assumption is that what you're asking for is something of a bridge too far ... certainly for game launch. Might be something they'd want to retrofit onto the game after launch, but then you'd have to ask yourself ... why?

I have a simple animation request: A finger-snap.
Nonchalantly raise your arm to the side, snap your fingers. *Snap!*
This is a universally useful animation, especially if the snap itself can be given a particle effect, but just off the top of my head, here's a few basic uses for an animation like this.
1. *snap* Fireball explodes on enemy location.
2. *snap* Ultimate blast attack (Big explosion, pillar of energy, lightning striking from above etc.)
3. *snap* Resurrection. "Now get up."
4. *snap* An army of pets arrive (Like Gang War, or the Illusion trio)
5. *snap* AoE crowd control (Time freeze, vines coming from below etc.)
And in general it's useful for a magician themed character. Plus, it's just a subtle little cool thing to do and one thing we couldn't really do in CoH, since, you know... mitten hands. So let's get snapping here.

Given the close-ranged attacks this made me think of the possibility of a gravity scrapper, or potentially a gravity blapper.
They're using their own engine, so this has no bearing on UE4.

Looks good. And I thought I saw a couple of Air Superiority attacks from CoX in there ;) Or at least seemed to be based on it.
Shame that the combat system is possibly a bit too *twitch* orientated for most of the players over here though (watch the [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCf_FjUUbfw]Community Gameplay video[/url] where they show sprinting and dashing/rolling inside combat to avoid/maneuver into a better place for yourself).
Now that i watched that video, I'm thinking that It be nice to see the Health Bars of Aggroed NPC's too, but maybe give the Option of how translucent they might be and maybe even a limit to how many additional enemy NPC's it would show for... By Distance, By Threat Level, etc...
I bought that and the magic pack AKA leather winged hot pants pack (see .sig pic and avatar pic) and some others but not cyborg.
I thought them getting rid of those "Super Booster Packs" and rolling the remains into the token reward system was a bad mistake. It was a way to generate another $10 2x a year for what, half the customers?

Thought of another idea for an animation set: Fireworks. Maybe not literal fireworks, but something similarly gaudy, with sparks and trails. I think it would be popular among ranged attackers, especially fire and energy ones. Maybe ice, too. It would be amazing for AoE-heavy sets.

A long time ago, I suggested a Pyrotechnics Powerset for Anthem. Light, smoke and noise would have been the main audio/visual features (just like real fireworks). The thing is, pyrotechnics also includes "industrial" uses, such as demolitions, and thus would be exclusively limited to just fireworks (although I'd expect "fireworks" to predominate simply because they're flashy and familiar to most people).

Presumably some of the heavy-hitter AoE animations would look like more conventional explosives? Or otherwise made to look 'meatier', as it were. Maybe some of the single-target ones, too: Make them look more like flares than roman candles.

I was thinking more along the lines of "mortar tube(s) on a barge" level of entertainment artillery. You know, the 12 inch diameter kind controlled by computers, not the home version made out of cardboard with a heat ignition fuse.
The low Tier stuff would be the kinds of things you could buy at a roadside Fireworks stand for use at home.
The high Tier stuff would be the kinds of things you go to a public venue to watch with tens or even hundreds of thousands of your fellow citizens and might get shown on television.

Alright, I know I've said this before... but I really want this to be a thing... soooooo.... you know all those things that serve no purpose other than to look cool? Like cocking your shotgun with one hand or twirling your sword around or dancing around with your pistols? those need to be animations for self buffs and taunt animations... also insults and giving commands for debuffs and buffs respectively...

Alright so devs had said before in the "please make teleport cool!!!!" thread is that they can make a character temporarily "disappear" and then reappear in order to make a ranged attack look like your character is teleporting in, punching a guy and then teleporting back, I want that technology applied to other things other than just teleport attacks, for example? Suppose your character is a speedster, with his ranged tertiary he can get an animation of him rushing towards a guy in a blur of speed, punching him, and then running back, or say someone wants to be a kung fu guy, we could get an animation of him jumping into a flying kick, and thn jumping back with a flip as soon as his feet damage the guy he's attacking.

Did I mention Butterflies? Yes, Butterflies! Summon a cloud or a stream of frosty-blue butterflies to attack your opponents, they release a Freeze/Cold effect. The beautiful nuclear-green butterflies irradiate their targets. Psychedelic butterflies cause mind-blowing confusion. Red ones go faster and light everything on fire!
Also, Pixies... Fae, Gnomes, Imps, Devils, Kittens even, whatever floats your boat. I can just imagine a rampaging horde of Pixes with Pickaxes, chopping away and causing 'burning' damage. Gnomes nailing the enemies feet to the ground. An explosion of little green critters that bless allies with health. Yellow sparkles that Speed-Boost everyone. A blue faerie queen who hovers over the caster's shoulder and emits a sphere of protection.
I suppose there could be tiny robots to do the same things.

Now that the power set descriptions are out, there are a couple of animations I hope will make it into the game:
I would really like to see some sort of large hand or similar mystical, spirit, or summoned object that attacks on behalf of the character's own body.
This would really be nice for the Super Strength power set.
I would like to see a constellation of telekinetically controlled objects swirling about the character for use during ranged or even melee attacks. It would be constantly present when certain abilities are activated and sustained or maybe would be present as part of the sheath/unsheath weapon toggle. This would be great for the Rapid Burst ability of the Ranged Lethality power set. The additional ability to customize this constellation could lead the player to choose between the look of random junk
or a constellation of selfsame objects like bullets, stones, knives, cupcakes, or balls of pure psychic energy:
the point being that the constellation would be a persistent, regenerating orbit of ammunition, not just something that pops into thin air or comes out of the ground when the spell is activated.
The benefit to this animation is that it would only be a step away from using the same particle designs to create barriers and protective fields for defensive abilities.

Every single form of unarmed combat plz. I would be displeased if we only got the textbook unarmed strikes
Let's start soft: Headbutts, elbow strikes, palm strikes, daggerhand (just in case you don't know, think a karate chop hand, but jabbing the fingers into the target instead of a chop), backhand, shoulder bash, kicks, knees. Heck, slap, why not?
Now let's get a little nuts: Sommersaulting axe kick! Spinning roundhouse! Rapid fire hooks! Backflipping upper-kick! Breakdancing sweeps! Handstanding Kick! Curl up into a ball, roll towards them, jump up into a spinning uppercut punch while also doing a roundhouse kick! Okay the last one was a little much, but you get the idea.
Then add some style into those strikes! Furious spinning roundhouse! Cocky breakdancing sweeps! Beast-like Rapid fire hooks!

CHAINS!
Rangers: instead of energy beams they shoot chains! targets held are wrapped in chains. you can buy an aura of writhing chains in the company store.
chains would work for Massive Melee too!

I certainly wouldn't mind if the game had all of that stuff. Just remember that anything beyond just simple "textbook unarmed strikes" would likely require a serious amount of customized animation work that would require a lot of extra time and effort to produce. There's a reason after all why most MMOs do -not- have a huge number of unique animations for this kind of thing.
Basically given the way this game is being made I wouldn't expect too much in the way of "special moves" at least in the beginning. As time allows they might be able to add some stuff like this when they aren't busy just trying to get the basic game up and running.

I'm not sure how easy it would be to have "shooting" chains but it might be relatively easy to have targets get wrapped (and writhing) in chains as part of a "Mez emote effect" from Control type powers.
Maybe the chains could be made to look like they are popping up out of the ground to wrap around their targets - if they could do that then the "chains" might then be "re-texturizable" to also look like roots for a plant-based Control power effect.

Now those are some serious emanation points! Since we've ironically learned (in a roundabout fashion) that they will likely be stuck in "rock hard solid" mode in this game they would (all joking aside) make for a stable weapons platform at the very least.

First time poster in these forums. I'm excited to see what CoT will bring out. But I have a request that might be weird. I want the ability to shoot bullets without a gun. More importantly, if possible I would liek to use finger guns to do so. In other words, I make the finger guns emote, point, and bullets come out. If not possible t o shoot bullets as such, I would like to at least use the finger guns animation.

I'd like some support sets re-skinned as leadership. Not just the strategy set (though yes the strategy set) but if possible some of the other ones. Preservation and maybe vampiric emanation could have leadership animations. Other than that, I'd want to see a wide variety in the animations for the device set. Superscience devices, yes, but maybe some with a more military feel, or a kuldgey garage-made feel, or magic traps. Maybe some kind of wild man 'bear traps and rope snares' thing? Just a wide variety of options.
