Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

i think it is impossible, as so many costumes would need to be updated, or listed as not available for 4 armed freaks.

however champions-online did so, but did not list it in the creator. each instance of use was also without any options, just skin.

perhaps there is a way to cheat a bit, and make them just add-ons? sort of like how a arachnos spider crab minon would have legs/arms coming out of it's back?

how badly do people want 4 armed people? how many spider people are out there? does it fit more themes? is it worth the time?

Slapping on an additional pair of arms, just for show, may work. It evidently did well enough for Goro. It all depends if those who want four arms favor or accept the normal body/frame with additional arms or prefer the 'mega-chest' version.

For a true four-armed character the costumes would be the least of the worries. Such a model would require its own skeleton and probably, in many cases, its own animations. Even the 'mega-chest' would likely require a new skeleton to avoid moving in very strange ways.

Perhaps a few years down the line MWM may deem it worth looking into.

Wait, then how would they punch people if an attack calls for it? Will every unarmed striking power have a punch and kick variant? Will we see glowing energy fists emulate punching for them? Will they head-bonk enemies?

And how would they wield anything? Would a sword float in front of them? Be attached to a tentacle? Be held in their teeth? Between their toes?

Did someone say arms?

I have had a concept for a character for a while whose main power is creating and deforming multiple limbs somewhat akin to an Inque type character. Which makes me think, why not a "multiple limbs" power-set/move-set/animation-set rather than a costume piece? Surely that would be easier than making all new animations for every move-set.

While on the topic i also have a character whose power is the ability to remove limbs,but...i cant see that working.

Each power set is going to have multiple animations. If there were to be a specific multi-limbed power set and/or animation set, it would either lock such characters into specific power sets or they would be unable to customize their powers. Or both.

I'm not going to speak for everyone but i feel that might be a preferable alternative to nothing at all. I would think it could always be expanded on later.
Or, y'know, could just come out as a major update much further along, once more animations could be afforded. I dunno, i aint no developer.

Oh dear... Yeah, I think we may put a cap on how many arms you can have, unless if some limbs go through the same animation. We could randomize which limb does what animation, but please... Please tell me they're not individually animating every single arm. O_o

Actually I'd really like if we at least have "invisible" as an option for various body parts. One of my alts would definitely be a self wielding magic weapon. (preferably a mastermind with "Knights" as pets).

As for the four arms though, don't forget that they aren't all Grond & Goro style. Isn't there a guy with three cybernetic arms on one side? And how about right, left, front, and back?

I can easily see it being hard to program and code. But lets face it. it is not that uncommon for villians to have more than two arms. But I can't decide on that since I am myself not a programmer. It would be damn neat though. But with talking about limbs, would it be possible to have a hero/villian without arms or legs at all? that like used telekinesis or such?

Multi-arm is "easy" to do in

Multi-arm is "easy" to do in static images (and sculpture), because you just stick the extra arms in and you're done. It's REALLY HARD to make them "look right" when they have to move over time in animation. It's that animation part of things that is the real bugaboo, in no small part because it not only has to look right but also not look silly or stupid.

If we can get four arms, then I want a multi attack option to go with my extra arms. I want a super strong guy who can hit you 4 times for your every one. The animation would be worth its weight in gold!

That wouldn't happen for the same reason that no costume item should ever add anything to your combat ability or "armor class" in this game. If the game allowed characters to have four arms and having four did more damage than two arms then every player would make their melee characters with four arms just to get the extra damage.

I'm not against characters physically having four arms in CoT. I'm just saying that a character's chosen powers should be the basis of what a character can or can't do, not their physical shape/size or what they are wearing.

Animations for characters with more than two arms might take a while to develop.

OTOH, separate animations for melee with more than two arms would be nice to have, once the devs have time to develop them.

TGHI, as Redlynne (ed: and Lothic!) noted, anything under the animation hood should be available regardless of which animation is chosen, subject to limits of duration of the animation and points of emanation.

Only way you could excuse balancing that would be:

  • Use 2 arms, deal 12 points of damage (6 each)
  • Use 4 arms, deal 12 points of damage (3 each)
  • Use 6 arms, deal 12 points of damage (2 each)

As has already been pointed out, creating a COSTUME option that yields DOUBLE DPS is basically verboten from the get go. Why? Because ... incentives ... and what we know about Player motivations to do things.
