Age range? Caucasian, Asian,

Age range? Caucasian, Asian, Afro American, Mid-Asian, Australian (yeah - I know Aussies aren't really a specific type... they just think they are... Ok... bad joke...)?

Are there any powersets that would manifest visually? Is this somewhat in the range of what you're describing?

FB by rjakobson, on Flickr

And... keeping in mind... where... is the skylight? Warehouse? Loft Apartment?

I see what your saying Bobby,

I see what your saying Bobby, and thank you for breaking it down a bit. The closest actress representation I could narrow on was Eugenia Volodina, though the only features to change would be a fitter build, hazel, chromatic eyes, and a slightly more angular chin.

http://media.celebrity-pictures.ca/Celebrities/Eugenia-Volodina/Eugenia-Volodina-i144146.jpg (This being the portrayal in mind, save for the notes made above.)

In fact it is nearly exactly what mikenovember has now. I am still here for clarification if needed! Skylight in question would be for a warehouse, and for future reference her pose would be more martial, and subdued, leaning against a wall more likely.

And nothing manifesting visually aside from the abforementioned effect of her eyes, and she is purely Caucasian.

K, well this is more of a collab... I used Mike's sketch, and inked over it really fast... about an hour's worth...
I used a different image of the model, where she's looking up instead of straight... I just liked the more airy quality it had...

Hope you like it Gladatoria...

They're the real heroes! They selflessly use their talents to help give life to our ideas, by giving them form and color. They are the weavers of dreams and for that, I dedicate this to the artists who give this community a great start into becoming a family. You know who you are and this song is for you....*dims the lights*

I did however use what, according to one tutorial I've been studying lately, is refered to as "the generic female Marvel Face" - it's an amalgam of several facial structures and you use it for practice. Which is ironic since I just finished a whole slew of comics with Captain Marvel and a few others and yah, that face is like Ms. Dash - they use that thing everywhere, you just don't notice because the hair or body angle gives it a completely different look each time.

Just some quick colors on Bobby's Inks...

FB_Color by rjakobson, on Flickr

See? This is why I say I'm not an artist. :) I do mechanics. What Bobby A and the other artists here do... is art. He took the description and saw something - used the sketchy bit I tossed up and brought his own talent to bear.

It took maybe an hour or two to drop some colors on it... and it's very very Steve Dillon, touches of Fabry and Leach. Dudes really got some stuff in his pencils. Makes it look too easy. ")

Alright, pondering another

Alright, pondering another request from a description, bear with me here?

Gender: Female

Height: 5'10

Weight: 130lbs

Build: Fit but not overtly so, her stances reflect quiet power.

Ethnicity: Caucasian, lightly tanned.

Age: 30, though appears slightly younger, around 25.

Costume Description: Her attire is composed of four components, listed and described as so. Her arms are entrapped in a pair of long, white gloves extending to the edge of her shoulder, the material shock absorbent cloth, looking far from flimsy. It is enshrouded by lines of gold in the seams, in plates over her knuckles, and covers her forearms in sleek bracers. Embrodiared in in the forearms guards is the depiction of two angel wings, a pair on each side of the bracers. Lastly, the gold extends into a simple shoulder caplike pad that is placed over the edges of the next costume piece.

Her top is in the same material of her gloves but now a especially dark blue, in the shape of a lightly muscled appearing leotard covering her entire chest, waist, and back save for a triangle shaped dip of cleavage upon her chest. Furthermore, the trim of this said gap, and along the seams of this leotard is the same gold lining mentioned ealier, no tracing the edges of her top.

Lastly, her legs are nearly completely covered in thigh high gold tipped heels in a red sheen of the aforementioned material above, a golden kneecap not unlike her shoulder pads upon them, and just below the knee is a pair of golden stars on either side of her legs.

To round out the outfit, her face is uncovered, inherently pretty with set of steel piercing, grey eyes and offset by a orderly mane of platinum waves of blond hair reaching her upper back.

For reference, her form, face, and overall appearance claim would be Yvonne Strahovski!

(( For reference! http://phanirsch.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/yvonne-strahovski-wallpaper.jpg, and http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/11/117566/2778412-yvonnestrahovski1.jpg))

This is Maiden America, and I look forward to seeing what you guys can do with this description! :D

Alright, so I have this one

Alright, so I have this one superbeing that I am actively using and would love some art for. Here's his reference sheet, with a description below...

NAME/ALIAS: Unknown/AAlbusUUmbra
AFFILIATION: Legio Judicium.
RANK: Super-Clabula.
ALIGNMENT: Lawless, Neutral, Honorable.
ORIGIN: Science.
CLASS: Commander.
SPECIFICATION: Executor.
PRIMARY POWER: Gravity Control.
SECONDARY POWER: Psychic Blast.
BIOLOGICAL AGE: Mid-30's.
ACTUAL AGE: Either his late 30's or a few years old. It's hard to know for certain.
HEIGHT: 1.9 meters.
HAIR: Espresso brown.
EYES: Hidden, phosphorescent white orbs when using powers.
PERSONALITY: Calculating, pompous, responsible.
VOICE: Picture Meta Knight again, but with a metallic reverb.
APPEARANCE: Wears a black tuxedo covered in a golden grid with dot-like markings in each tile. The tux has a golden trim, and he dons a golden mask made of an unknown alloy. The mask has a crimson Santiago cross painted over it, with rectangular eyeholes. His hair is wavy and styled to sweep over top of his left eye. (read: Hipster hair design in CoX) Two antenna-clad earpieces completely cover his ears, and a metal collar clings tightly to his neck- both accessories bear the same runes as his tuxedo, but they glow a phosphorescent white. His hands are covered with golden tuxedo gloves. What little skin of his can be seen is translucent white with his veins clearly visible beneath. His gait is suspiciously straight and rigid.
BACKSTORY: The origins to this mysterious super-being are shrouded in mystery. Some say he was a right-hand man who changed his identity under the Medicus to get away with whatever shady tasks he was assigned. Some say he was a man taken straight from the morgue and given life again by the Medicus, or that he pronounced him dead and altered the broken man's identity, slowly twisting him into his pet. Still more speculate that given the stinginess of the Medicus when it comes to deploying humans into dangerous situations, AAlbus- used for combat as much as he is- is nothing more than a soulless android tailor-grown to mimic his creator and obey his every command. No matter what theory you follow, the earliest report of AAlbusUUmbra was when he was first sighted working with the Medicus as his second-in-command. The medical lab and hospital he helped run was short on funding, however, and so in his off-time AAlbus is commonly seen searching for extra wealth for his boss. Originally this wealth stemmed from gladiatorial tournaments that mangled his body and forced him to slowly accumulate cybernetic implants, but his skills and powers allowed him to accrue enough prizes and reputation to find work with mercenaries and other odd jobs to supplement his gladiator career. Eventually, AAlbusUUmbra was summoned by WWhiteSShadow into Martial Judgement Corporation to help lead the charge against several major enemies. There were many victories and defeats, but AAlbus's unflinching sense of duty led him to serve both the Medicus and WWhiteSShadow with all due puissance. Now he has been instructed to enter a new front in order to help hold back potential threats to both his master's and his contractor's organizations: Titan City.

Hello everybody! 4th of July

Hello everybody! 4th of July is just around the corner and I thought it'll be perfect time to ask for a portrait of Fighting Patriot. I was thinking red, white and blue fireworks in the background and maybe have Patriot holding the flag superheroic-like. I been pretty bummed since USA got knocked out by those Belgian waffles (Still can't believe refs only gave them 1 minute of overtime!). We gotta remind the nation that even if USA is out of the world cup, America still has every reason to celebrate this great country's bday.

If there's any artist who can and is willing to answer the call...PM me so we can talk details cause I respect any artist's vision. Of course I don't expect any artist to actually do the piece ON 4th of July because I want every forum member American or not, to drink responsibly and to play with fireworks (maaaybe not in that order)! Eat some hot dogs and pet a bald eagle!

America, F yeah!

Okay I'm asking for a Zombie.

Okay I'm asking for a Zombie. Well not really a Zombie but like one of the Draugrs from Skyrim. More mummified then rotting. Ron "Rotten Luck" Bolton was very much a Harley Davidson Biker, underground fighter, and now knows he's dead and trying to enjoy his undead life. Would love to see that Rocker I don't give a crap I'm parting attitude.

One image that keeps popping into my mind is a few Skulls (Could be just teens) open a crypt at the cemetery and there he is standing in the doorway once they open it beer in one hand and his boot or fist going into the jaw of one of the grave robbers. He normally dressed in what you would imagine a biker would be dressed as. Work boots, blue jeans, belt and skull buckle (chains optional) tank top or T-shirt, with or without a sleeveless trench coat. Oh just his style the Crypt inside would be decorated with a HD T.V., recliner, satellite, and a fridge. That's not really necessary or even the whole image not necessary. Just a description of how I see the Undead Biker from Hel (Hel as in the norse Helheim). I really meant it when I said he was a Draugr!

Just outta curiosity, but how do you guys go about taking requests? Do you take them in the order they're posted, like "first-come-first-serve?" Or do you go with whatever looks good?

Can't speak for everyone else

@AAlbusUUmbra ...

Can't speak for everyone else - but I just grab something that I think I can do and run with it. Titan - the one I just played with, for example I actually started that about a week ago but I saw it the day it rolled down and kind of passed on it at first.

It just didn't hit me as something I could bring around in any decent way. A couple days later I was flipping through images for something else and saw this model on a runway with this massive cloak flowing behind her, two images later... theres Matt Damon with this cock-sure joking expression... and it all fit in my head what I wanted to do.

I did see your request and I'm still kind of digesting it and mulling it over how I'd pull off the look of the tuxedo/circuitry/material. That's to be honest going to be a royal pain to draw those patterns over and over and over. One of the reasons I hate anything in chain mail, is that I have to draw it. I seriously think that's why they redid Captain America with the leather/Kevlar look - chain mail just was too big a pain to draw so Artists everywhere gathered into a secret cabal -- pooled their .30 cents royalty payments together and paid off a studio to make movies so people would forget that's what the original costume was made out of.

All kidding aside...

Obviously - I can just draw it/sketch it out straight based on your description but I work from references. I'd usually spend a day or so gathering ones that speak to an image in my head. But, as I mentioned above - I just started a new job so ... that's gonna suck up 8-10hrs of my life six days a week so... won't have a lot of time but I did read the description and was considering it.

Mostly the challenge of it is what appeals to me, and I have an idea - for what I want to try to deal with his circuits in his tux.

I created a quickie brush in Photoshop... give you some idea what it would look like ...

Mikenovember man that looks amazing, i dont know what to say other than thanks a million. To get two character arts from two amazing artists just blows my mind, never in a million years thought that would happen. And here i thought Titan had such a simple design noone would have any interest in it XD i really appreciate it man thanks, its just aces across the board. BTW i love the colored character with black and white background, i dont know reminds me of a graphic novel, just slick.

Whole thing is just really appreciated, im ecstatic.

Hehe... Wish I could take credit for being clever. Its actually a Photoshop trick. Pick a image in this case a circuit board, then copy it to a image that's brush sized like 900x900 pixels at 300 dpi and make it black and white. Adjust levels until it really is black and white. Remove the white (or black) so it's transparent background shows. Goto to Edit > Define brush presets...

Then just brush over object at various opacity.

Looks more complicated than it really is. :D

Sure... there's 3 ways to

Sure... there's 3 ways to pull that trick off - either as a brush, a pattern or as a brush / pattern with texture.

I didn't really spend the time to make a textured brush but I'll set up something and then also include the finished brush so people can make their own brushes. One of my most favorite brushes is a reptile/scales brush because it actually adjusts to the shape, size, pressure and direction of the pen you're using.

Still haven't mastered that trick - but I'll give a shot at trying to explain it. Right now I'm a bit limited on time but when I have some time I'll put something together and put it up there.

I've got Daz and 3DS - as

I've got Daz and 3DS - as well as Zbrush. I use them mostly for viewing and editing concepts at work from artists. I've actually considered doing stuff in 3D, posing and then drawing from that.

To do something completely in 3D is kind of... well in my case it would defeat the purpose of it. I do the drawings and art I do here and on my own to push my limits and improve my skill. Also - most 3D generated comics I've seen, well, look like that's what they used. No matter what you do they don't have half the personality or style of an actual drawn comic. For all their 3D realism they suffer too much from the uncanny valley effect too shiny, too plastic looking.

Even if you take the time to redo the art so its more authentic, more personal, by the time you've done that you probably could have just created an image from scratch. Just my 2cents.

I can agree with that......I

I can agree with that......I'm no artist. Daz3d and other programs like Poser help others like me who want to create images that we envision. While it does have it challenges in most cases doesn't compare to the free handed drawing and painting. Still I think it can also be admired in its own way, as all works of art. It's all for the love of art, and really is all about preference.

It fun for me and gives me a hobby, something to do when I'm not working or with my family and kids.

Oh don't take my comments

Oh don't take my comments wrong - it's very definitely an Art and it's very definitely ART. :) I just meant for me - personally - it doesn't work - and why.

There are a number of comics which use that method - several indies that are very good.

Now, one thing I would say is that you may think you don't have talent sketch wise - I'm going off your comments here, your images say otherwise. ;) But - with pen in hand you may not feel your as skilled as you probably are - but I would encourage you to get a cheap Wacom type tablet. I know mine is nothing special, it's a cheap Bamboo and you can get knock off versions off eBay for about $30, that I'm told are just as good.

Take your 3D work - after you plotted it out - and saved it as an image and then use something like Manga Studio (or ClipStudio - it's actually the same program) or Adobe Illustrator and use that for inking those images. You will find, that with very little effort you can really give your images your own stylistic flourishes in completely new ways.

I've seen how a couple artist on Deviant are now doing that. They bring them into DAZ, set the scene up - export it and then ... it's not really tracing so much as doing the line work by tracing and then the artistic flourishes in PS. It's really cool. You get a very 3D depth and realism but its also very ... flat art comic. Its kind of hard to explain. But it's really cool.

There are a couple of comics I've seen where they did that and they completely blow me away.

Word Balloons - they might

Word Balloons - they might want to use the paragraph adjusts in PS for the spacing vertically. When its spaced like that it gives it a break to the image.

There was a website out there from one of the letters - a real old school master - that had breakdowns of pages to show how much time and effort that went into the placement of word balloons and typography and it was really mind boggling. I'll see if I can't dig it up - Jim Steranko was raving about it being a must read and clicked on the link from that article. Which - its pretty high praise when Steranko says you need to read it.

People never appreciate how much goes into a comic book page when they're done right. The best writers - are these word misers that can cram massive story into a few bits of dialogue. The artists will gear your eye from word balloon to word ballon without anyone noticing, and take you by the hand. The letterers - handle putting massive prose into itty bitty spaces... and all of this is designed to happened without you having to think.

It's really amazing when you break it down.

Yup... that's actually pretty

Yup... that's actually pretty common. Another trick you see - well you see it in concept art all the time is basically collage design.

They go out and find images from all over - bits and pieces and they literally clip them and stitch them together to make the view they want - and then they design/draw from that. Its so common in advertising once you start noticing that this car or that device in an ad looks just like... another one... you start to realize they actually are the same image.

Someone just took and clipped it into the art they used for the storyboard - redrew it as whatever car/phone/washing machine using the exact same visual references... so then it gets shot by whatever advertiser using different lighting or whatever... it winds up in a magazine or on the internet... someone sees it and likes the look... they drag it into photoshop... and then the circle of repetitive advertising is complete! MUHAHAHA...

Seriously though... start noticing it ... I have literally seen stuff for two completely different products that you could overlay on top of each other. It's a riot. Once you see it - you can't unsee it. :D

Am I greedy? Well, yes, yes

Am I greedy? Well, yes, yes I am. Just a little bit.

All those years of CoH, something like 180 characters, and only One ever got immortalized in someone else's art. It was a cameo in a comic segment about Catgirls. Blip, there she was with a bunch of other catgirls and then poof! never seen again.

Now, I've gotten to see artists' renditions of a few of my favorites and I'll tell you, people, it's SOOO Cool! Makes me want to dance in my chair. Three versions of my Black Valkyrie?? AWESOME!

So, bear with me, while I toss out a couple more references.

Rogue Nightwolf

Quote:

Austrian soldier recruited by Council – craved warrior society and challenge to ‘be all he can be’. Council promised to ‘make something of him’. He was a good soldier and volunteered for the enhancement projects… So they filled him with some horrible seed of darkness, but it failed to take root. Instead, after days of sheer agony, it transformed him into a huge werewolf like creature – a Nightwolf.
Ordinarily, when the nictus seed fails and produces a wolf, it destroys the mind of the soldier, but his psyche was strong enough to remain intact. He was a Nightwolf with intelligence and personality. But his trusted leaders, his brothers in arms, called him a Failure – worse, a Failed failure and they were going to ‘recycle’ him…
Finally, the betrayal after repeated betrayal was too much for this loyal soldier to accept and he revolted. With a pair of swords he retrieved from his old locker, Rogue Nightwolf fought his way free of the Council.
Now, registered with S.E.R.A.P.H. as a Hero, he is taking the fight back to his ‘brothers’ in the Council, before they can betray more good soldiers.

Sorry if this seems stilted, it's (over)simplified to fit the old 1023 character Biography. His heroic 'hook' is, "They made me a Monster. Now I fight them!"

In CoH terms, he's a Willpower/Dual Blades Tanker. Unfortunately, this is the only picture I have.

I always wished I could have given him some Shorts, but CoH didn't offer that option with Fur. Leather long-coat and shoulder-pads, chunky belt, black fur, fangs and claws, and long 'impervium' katanas. His eyes should be green, or maybe blue, another oversight in the character designer.

Be Well!

The biggest problem I see

The biggest problem I see with it is that it really stifles creative, innovative and new visions.

You get a business requirement that has an image of someone elses product - that says, "We want it to look like this..." and a program manager goes out and copies that into things and writes it up and says, "Must be..." and then everything just kind of looks the same.

I really used to like some of Apples designs - but they've been overly abused to the point I see them and just go 'meh'. Same problem I have with most software user interfaces. Sure, jQuery's nice an all ... but dang ... can we at least TRY to make something that the user asked for instead of just rehashing the same interface with different colored buttons?

Back when everyone was doing things in Flash it was annoying but at least every so often you'd see a website that legitimately was simple, useful and beautiful. Now all of them use the same 'responsive iOS' mobile website design. Ugh. You can totally interchange them and not miss anything. Very dull. Very bland. Not really what the user wants either.
