Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.

I haven't drawn anything in a long time but I have a quite a bit of old CoH line art. Some of which people might remember Lord Goat coloring and posting in his thread back in the day. I think I read somewhere that it was supposed to be some sort of Bio-ice, so I'd go with crystalline, rather than 'skin-of-a-different-hue'. Perhaps even faintly bio-luminescent?

I am not sure, our characters kept evolving. Also, we tried to use the forced origin story the DCUO came up with, but that didn't work for most of us. After the DCUO fall-out, I know a few of the Peacekeeper have various comics in the works and her powers may have evolved due to the re-branding. But all in all, a good piece of art is always appreciated. ;)

Digital Inking:
Using Photoshop take a solid brush with no shape mechanics for a consistent line and then trace the figures outline. Given the extremely low dpi of the image, I had to use a 3px brush. After that I went back in with a 5px solid brush with Shape Dynamics and Smoothing turned on. This allows you to play with line weight easily by simply adjusting your pen pressure like you would using traditional media. Draw in your fine details and then just fill in your blocks.
It can also help to work in multiple layers to separate the outline from your fine lines and blocking. This way you can sketch out details right over your previous work without any worry of destroying it.

I know the original line art is probably stacked in a comic book box somewhere.. but I don't have the .jpg on file any more. It looks as though the one posted on my DeviantArt gallery is the same scale as the one Goat has as well.... so I'd have to go digging for it and create a new scan.
Unless you're absolutely set on that particular drawing, I can offer you this brand new and fully digital drawing of Darkavia! I saved it as a "Cut Out" .gif file hoping that might make it easier for people to add in their own backgrounds and what not.
I also thought it was a really cool idea to create animated .gifs showing art progression. I'd never thought of doing something like that before and it's such a great idea I had to make one of my own. Hope you guys like it, and I'll definitely keep this process in mind for future projects!
It's my opinion that artists like Michael Turner and Joe Madureira are the pinnacle of modern comic art and I've been trying to adopt those styles into my own. With that in mind, I'm happy with how this turned out - even if it took me a while...

Also I can't tell if the outside of her cape is purple like the inside or if it's

Edit: Bobby the image you had above was a small file and when I backtracked it through the
file info the only large version I found (I notice looking at it now) is missing the white stars on his chest.

Thanks for the art guys! Hate to nitpick and make you guys have to do a do over but y'all colored the glove behind the shield blue instead of red. CR love what you did but you used the wrong template with the missing small stars.
I'm actually torn between having the white sleeve look or not. I mean it looks great but is it too Cap on already obvious expy? What y'all think?

I don't remember the clasp design to be honest. The way I draw her, the cape is part of the top (white exterior / purple interior) so there's no need for clasps. I tend to flip flop between drawing a pointed or squared off cape as well and never use the one in that ref which appears to be rounded. Prime example is the line art you colored recently.

One of the reasons I've been using Flickr here is because if you go over to the 'comments' area of the image on the right side, next to the "Share" icon there's an icon that looks like "....".
Click on that - and one option is to download the image in a variety of sizes from the original to the one you're currently viewing. Just click on "Download/All Sizes". (Which you found... )
That ... and the free terabyte of storage and the fact it creates BBCode I can just copy and paste here is why I use it over other sites.

I suppose for the most part I'll just be grabbing pieces that interest me and doing the flatwork. Although, I won't be surprised if I take something and take the stab at the shading portion on rare occasions. at the moment though, I have the platter full given I am going through the redues of my own at the moment and working on shading them to one degree or another. sooo...yeah, I suppose I am the flats/initial pass kinda guy. heh

indeed. I typically resize when posting pics. sorry. I just grabbed the pic straight from the page and redid the line work for coloring. I will redue it by getting the hi-rez version, which is probably a good thing anyways as I was looking at the reference pic and the costume is actually blue and red...vs black and red as I have it. I should have it finished by tomorrow night.

From what I've seen, Bobby works at 300 dpi, with canvases around 3500x5000. He works in several different styles, of course, so this observation may be of limited value.

You can literally make a full length drawing of a character and then zoom into the little white dot/hotspot in the eyeball and make that the size of your whole screen and create an entire painting in there and then pick a pixel up in the corner of that painting and zoom into that and make another design and on and on (it's kinda bizarro but very cool at the same time). http://youtu.be/Yen31td9Mq4?t=45s
So what part of an image you save out and what size/rez you use are more preference than any kind of conventional limit like other programs impose. Still good to info know though.

CR: I "believe" its a limitation within GIMP itself, assuming by jaggies you mean how the pixels seems to stand out more creating a stairstep look when zoomed in on any kind of angle. so, intentional, not really, but I do like how it looks on the whole (when not zoomed in at least...heh). I am thinking that in order to get rid of the jaggy look I would have to make the pics in the 4k range in size so it looks more "smooth" unless you really zoom in. although I am kinda used to working in the 1.5-2 k range given after scanning that's the size my pics come out at (normal sheet of paper size).
I will say though, that working at a larger size allows for much easier coloring, especially when going in for some detail work. as such, any future collab I steal to work on I'll ensure they are at least at 2k in size if not greater. if they are naturally smaller I'll just make em bigger given I have to redue the linework anyways.
along that vein...I am already eyeing a couple other pieces to possibly snag. :)

I have been playing with the smudge and blur tool recently to try and smooth out those stairs. but it's taking getting used to as I am not used to lines not being so 'hard' in their definition. I am working on it though, albeit slowly. LOL

...and then the actual size I work at. although, honestly, I typically zoom in either 400% or 800% depending on what I am doing.
as far as system goes, even though it's closing in on the decade mark she's still pretty robust all considering. although I already know I'll be putting a new one together prior to COT launching....I wanna see it in all its glory and not a scaled back version graphically. :)

I figure, I want at least the size of my monitor, but rather bigger. Depends on what the picture is for though. Sometimes with collabs I do blow up the pictures, if possible. And even if not, I'll just blow them up to work on them and then shrink them back to what they actually were, to make the lines go back to "normal". I avoid redoing someone else's work as I can use the time to do my own hehe.[/color][/b][/size][/font]
