Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

But bears really are friendly! Black bears especially don't wanna hurt anyone! Even that idea that you can't mess with a bear's cubs without getting mauled comes from grizzly bears, black bears protest and may nip at you, but researchers and whatnot can go right up to black bear cubs without being attacked by mama bear :-)

Note that bears are

Note that bears are planitgrades, like humans, and NOT ditigrades, such as cats and dogs, and have very thick legs.
And unprovoked attacks of bears against humans ARE rare (and sharks attacking humans is rare as well, even if we leave out the majority of sharks that cannot pose danger to humans at all). Actually, bears (with the exception of the polar bear) are omnivorous and mostly feed on plants. It's the felines, and to a lesser degree the canines, that are specialised predators/"Killing Machines"!

Villains I think would not be likely to use a bear face. It makes them much too easy to identify in court. Masks will be much more common ^_^

But now you've given me an idea for an ursine vigilante (or maybe a gun runner?), who exercises his constitutional right to arm bears!

First off, thank you Xnarl,

First off, thank you Xnarl, for sharing that in support of bears and their peaceful ways.

I'm glad we've started this ROARING discussion about bears! Usually I keep my comments conservative an intellectual, but as my fiance says, when I start talking about bears, I turn into an 8 year old, so BEAR with me!

I'm liking the concepts Foradain (post #96) and keep them coming! I would definitely get behind that court case for your vigilante demanding his right to arm bears, and I would support your business by buying several of your finest, even though my bear doesn't like to use guns. May he'll use them to decorate his cave to scare off unwanted visitors or to make little forts out of them like link'in logs. You know, just to support a hero who supports bears' rights :-)

Anyone else got some cool bear themed concepts? I'd love to hear them!

With a bear costume set you could make a short hero more raccoon-like, scrounging around in the dirty night streets of Titan City, fighting crime or taking things that nobody is claiming.

Maybe a team of bears could come together to form a panda cult, doing everything that is stereotypically chinese with the ancestor worshiping and whatnot, using their martial arts to seal away ancient evils or to summon their evil dragon lord.

Maybe the deceivingly cute Ted E. Bear, who appears small and harmless but is a vicious, bloodthirsty killer. Hero, villain? who cares, if Ted E. Bear has a problem with you, you'll find out when you end up with a devastating bite wound to your abdomen.

What do i want to see on the costume creator? Well, i do want to see allot of things for many reasons. Roman togas? Laurel Wreaths? High Collar capes? Aviator goggles and hats? Plus a jacket that looks sorta like this.

Plus you know that big belt and pants look that was such a hit in the golden age? That'd be awesome looking too. very classic looking and could be used for quite a few characters. plus if you can do it without enraging any copyright lawyers, I think maybe the Royal Air Force logo. I just think all these things would look great. Allot of great designs could come from them.

I'd also love to have a unisex Jedi-style cloak to wear. And waist capes for both sexes. Kind of like the one I'm wearing here:http://www.flickr.com/photos/31217544@N07/4432734364/

And I would love to be able to dress a character in-game with robes like these:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/31217544@N07/6319655438/sizes/o/in/photostream/

I agree on the waist capes, I thought they were cool on the fortunatas. I was disapointed that the male fortunatas couldnt have them because the devs wanted to keep that option as a female even though there was a ton of us that begged for it. One of the reason right there in the last that people went to other MMOs, the devs stopped listening to their players.

I always wanted to make a toon in Coh that was a big fat guy. The costume creator didn't allow for that, not really. I still think this would be fun, to see an overweight guy doing flips and kicks and running fast....

I'd like to see a close approximation of the Magic Witches Tight Top! I know we can't have exact but something close! It's detail! How it had parts of the outfit that weren't just painted onto the tights of it!

Witch Lace Top

Witch Leather Top

Definitely some of Sexy Jay's finer work. I found myself using Witch Lace and Witch Leather a lot in my costumes ... even for making a rather "dashing deluxe tuxedo" look for my Gravity/TA Controller, Topheavy Gs, when using high contrast colors (in this case very dark purple and white). Even when dealing with costumes that put additional clothing "over" the bust, I'd often wind up using Witch Lace or Witch Leather as the "under" layer for the costume. Stuff like this ...

I REALLY want a Air Force

I REALLY want a Air Force flight suit so I'll recommend a armed forces set.. anything you'd find in TopGun

Flight Suit (At the waist, Partial zipped, and Fully zipped)
Jacket
Sabre
Lace up combat boots (canvas, leather and rubber)
Berets
Envelope Hat
Flight Helmet
Volleyball Shorts

Which brings me to my next Set.. I'll call it Magic Mike Set..

I really, really want different kinds of dog heads and tails. Rottweiler gives me some hope there are dog fans in the art team. American Pit Bull would look better with a proper pit bull head and the "pump handle" whip tail. But other breeds should be represented too, resources permitting (as always).

I ended up changing my male

I ended up changing my male Fortunata to a female over the whole waistcape issue- the costume didn't feel complete without it, and the devs were not going to budge.

The other frustrating thing was that we had such a list of costume suggestions, yet many of the things we often requested (loincloths and so on) were given to the NPCs, and we were told "forget it, no costume piece for you!"

I also want this game to avoid another mistake CoH made with NPC costumes- we were told that NPC costumes would be designed with an eye towards making them player-usable too. Well, we players never got more than the bootlicking lower minion parts, with the coolest stuff worn by lieutenants and bosses withheld. The Circle of Thorns costume set was the worst offender for this- a huge number of parts were made, and we players only got a handful, with vague excuses about clipping being offered. Which was BS- Costume items freely given to us often clipped more, and a lot of players felt that it should have been up to us to decide how much clipping we would tolerate, and which pieces looked good with what.

So if we're going to get NPC parts, let's get all the parts in each set, not just the handful of bits that the lowest of the rank and file would have.

As for limited options, I was frustrated by how many lower body options were locked out by having a jacket on my upper body. I wanted to use that dynamic waist cape from the wild west pack with a short bolero jacket (very close to the outfit I posted pics of myself wearing in this thread), but for some arbitrary reason, I couldn't. And that robe bottom/belt option from the ninja set frustrated me- why couldn't we have a version of that thing that we could wear with things other than robes?

Wouldn't mind seeing an better version of stone armor. Something that looks like the cores about to explode or has a "breathing look an feel" to it between the jagged edges. Coh could have used that praetorian gunslinger's chest piece to get a cooler looking stone armor.

Maybe a cool " Hubble space view "cape and eyes.

Extreme face art/ expression. (Tekken 6 devil jin)

Ripped clothes/ GI ( oni akuma comes to mind)

Some detailed cybernetics

Serious wounds under skin ( can see the spine attached to brain, heart beating,)

Possessed face fluctuations from time to time (I could just see people standing in your face waiting to see it happen lol)

A face that always remains partly shadowed( hair covers eyes shaded, akuma's face when taunting with aura)

An alien that sit on hero/villains head using them as a host body

Living capes/ Huge cape( spawn, cloak from cloak and dagger)

A vast variety of emblems. Some with minor animation ( power on /off, red/green light)

Hands with just 3 to four finger slots. Animal heads that don't look mascot-ish. Egyptian clothing/ jewelry. Baggy jeans that don't look like clown pants. Anything glowing is a huge plus.

Wings I know for sure are gonna be in the game but I'm tired of the giant wings on the back look I'm looking for more the likes of a wing cape look like Marvel's Falcon has. Of course this show is old enough that it might have actually served as the inspiration for some of the later anime made in the 80s and 90s. ;)

Izzy ... low blow. Sailor

Izzy ... low blow. Sailor Moon wouldn't exist until 10+ years after Erin Gray finished the 1.5 season run of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century (during which time she was one of the most beautiful women on television, having been a professional model previously). I mean, just look at this woman ...

Wilma Deering, as played by Erin Gray, inspired A LOT of women in the 80s to pursue careers that had previously been closed to them. For one thing, she was the first woman ever portrayed on television as being a colonel who was not only competent in her own right, but also somewhat frequently "rescuing" the main star of the show, Buck Rogers ... rather than just being a damsel in distress.

Oh and by the way ... that pic of Wilma Deering holding an energy pistol? Yeah, she *totally* looks like a superhero to me in that pic. Pose, attitude, steely look in the eyes, costume, lighting ... the whole thing. The show wasn't all that great, but Erin Gray as Wilma Deering most definitely was.

Sailor Moon costumes were based on the ubiquitous Sailor Fuku school uniforms worn by schoolgirls everywhere in Japan on an almost daily basis until graduating from high school.

Well for what it's worth your observation about the "60s era stewardesses" wasn't exactly off-base either...

Mostly I was just going off of what Izzy said and agreeing with him that maybe if you squint your eyes tightly you could sort of get a "Sailor Moon" out of Erin Gray's outfit. Of course I didn't mention most of what I just said in my last sentence the first time around just to be nice. ;)

Nope, it's Michael Keaton as Birdman. Movie's a superhero/comedy about a wash-up actor trying to get broadway as a superhero according to Wiki.

Now if it's the cartoon Birdman (Harvey Birdman fame) that remains to be seen.

YAY.. the blog post today makes me hopeful that the "Varsity Set" may make the game.

I really do hope to see more in-game design than "plan design" tho.. but the jersey itself goes a long way to helping the Varsity set have value.. Now.. how do in get jockstraps without violating T for Teen (LOL)

How long will it be before we can see an example of an actual avatar wearing a costume - any costume? Just one?

I don't expect to see everything, of course but to be able to see even one example of a finished, or mostly finished costume set on an actual avatar would be really nice. It does not have to be a fancy costume, I am good with a leotard and cape.

Just something. To give us an idea of what the art will be like.

Well last I read they were going to try to have the avatar builder available some this "this summer".

If we can optimistically assume it'll be here around July or August I'd figure we'd start to see Alpha/Beta screenshots of characters at least a month or two before that. Based on that incredibly handy-wavy guessimate I think we should start seeing some actual screenshot examples at least by say May or June.

Basically I'd be pleasantly surprised to see serious examples before May-ish.

Some of the stuff I would

Some of the stuff I would like to see.

1) A good number of Cyberpunk options. I always wanted more options to make my own freakshow characters. You could do it in CoX, but had to be creative about it.

2) Some cool tribal options. CoX had some of this, but was a bit limited. Fur and leather footwraps, armwraps, cloaks belts and possibly bone jewelry. I know I saw an awesome fur cloak drawn up in the KS updates and would love to see that integrated into the game.

3) more mutant style options such as 3-fingered hands, claws and other weird elements for those looking to make mutants or other weird creatures.

One thing I think is missing

One thing I think is missing from this thread - Tattoos and Emblems have been mentioned - but something's missing. I would like to see some multiple placement/size options for Emblems and tattoos. For example, I like the Holo/Hex Armor from CO's Helmet, but I wish I could have put an emblem on the front visor (actually just the "X" from my icon) but that wasn't an option, and most CC's have specific placement for emblems at a certain size for certain costume pieces (usually the chest, back, lepel, forehead, and cape back) these are all well and good, but how about a few more options, plus maybe a sizing option?

I think being able to load custom emblems would be too hefty a task, especially for something that's just coming out (I don't know any MMO's that have that option, even the incredibly established/enduring ones) but sure I'd love it.

Other than that - I'd love to see all the mentioned costume options to happen in the game, plus more! Victorian/Edwardian garb, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Steam/Cyber/Diesel Punk, Normal Punk, Goth, "Urban", Vampires and Werewolves, Aliens, the list goes on and on and on. How about something a bit more..... Nazi uniform looking gear (I imagine that's mainly going to be a villain thing, that's a classic militarized evil group look right there.) I mean, the list could go on damn-near forever of costume pieces - how about some Fairie/Sprite type costumes, Jack-O-Lantern heads, Animal/Bestial/Monster parts, Fur, Scales, Clown Make-Up and costumes.

I think another thread mentioned Quadruped creature options - how about SPIDER creature options? Half Humanoid/Half Spider? Crazy looking 8 legged thing coming towards you with a humanoid torso holding two semi-automatic weapons?! Awesomeness.

Personally, I'd like to see an option for a No-Legged character, the legs being replaced with some kind of floating lower-half thing like a disc or some kind of propulsion system like just fire or a rocket-type bottom, or a crazy anti-gravity orb thingy.. who knows. I think it'd be awesome.

My main toon, RIOT, wears a kind of near-futuristic Riot-Police/Swat gear (Jumpsuit, Boots, Ultility Vest type thing, Gloves with bracers, Full Helmet.. and a bunch of grenades) so I'd like to see that stuff obviously.

I'd love to see a decent variety of Weapon styles - and any weapon that can be wielded one handed, should be able to be dual weld, and have a larger scaled version for the two-handed style. Laser/Psy weapons, purely psycho-kinetic weapons (semitransparent), Bronze&Iron age style weapons, ethnic styled melee weapons, modern melee, modern guns, classic rifles, the blunderbuss, futuristic guns and melee weapons, etc... And a ROCKET LAUNCHER and/or FULLY AUTOMATIC RIFLE that LOOKS LIKE A GUITAR CASE!!! COME ON!! AWESOMESAUCE!

What's sad, is that I'm a semi-decent (almost good) sketch artist but I can't draw what's in my brain onto the paper, otherwise I'd at least have some pictures to go along with my crazy ideas.

I'm pretty sure the main reason why you don't see "customizied" emblems or badges in games like this is because it would be a relative nightmare for the Mods/GMs of these games trying to prevent people from doing very naughty things with it. Sadly you'd instantly have people running around with swastikas (which BTW are illegal to display in video games in Germany) and all manner of other offensive symbology.

I suspect the only way we're ever going to have truly "player generated" costume content in major MMOs like this will be like the way MWM is handling the Kickstarter Add-Ons Iconic and Fashionista. Players will sumbit ideas and have them "filtered" by the Devs' artistic team before they are released to the game at-large.

Oh yeah, the offensive

Oh yeah, the offensive symbols would definitely be a huge problem I think - not on Swastika's but like - genitalia.... "Wang Man - here the screw up the day!" yeah... I can see that getting pretty (if you'll excuse the pun) hairy. However, I do imagine that if mods were allowed there would be a system of submitting the mod and having it approved or denied by the Dev's and then being integrated into the game. Of course, this could cause a serious back up and require days if not weeks in order to get a submission judgment from the devs as a ton of people would probably be submitting almost constantly.

Still, it is pretty cool that the Dev's aren't simply opposed to the idea!

This is a reason why (right now) CCP are not allowing custom logos on their ships. All of the alliance logos that are fan made have to be approved by CCP to not include any copyrighted artwork either. TTD (Time To Dick) is a consideration for their "player designed" stuff.

It can take up to 6 months for the approval to come through, as they limit the "artwork updates" for this stuff to the next round of major patches.

CCP also limit it *indirectly* because to form an alliance, the character that *forms* the alliance, needs to have a set of skills that have to be trained. An alliance is not something that a *new* character can do.

There was a dev somewhere that said they are not uniformly against mods.

CoH was never against "mods" in the strictest sense. In fact it was relatively easy to swap out your local texture files to create all sorts of changes with not only character costumes but other things like sound effects and background music.

But the critical difference between those kinds of mods and the ones being talked about here: The mods that the Devs allowed in CoH ONLY affected what you could see or hear on your own game client - there was absolutely no way to load those changes up to the servers so that others could see your changes. So for example you might have modified particular costume items so that on your client it looked like your were wearing a real Spider-Man outfit. But to everyone else in the game (who didn't modify the same texture files) all they would see would be the default textures of those items. No one else would ever know you were playing with modified files.

So again the reason why CoH (and most other MMOs) usually don't let people upload customized mods directly to a game's servers is the very realistic concern that people would upload either naughty and/or IP infringing things without GM oversight.

Keep in mind that "not uniformly against" might mean nobody cares much one way or the other, or that some people are strongly for, and some strongly against, the idea.

But some voices might outweigh others. In theory, even if everyone is in favor of the idea except the legal department, we probably won't see it in game.

On the moveable/scalable note

On the moveable/scalable note, can cobwebs or other particles also be stuck the the character and moved about. Like a pharaoh who came out of a sarcophagus and still has some cobwebs on him, or a chained being who still has some broken chains on, or an ice toon with icicles sticking out, etc.

I understand that this'd/'ll be much harder to implement than icons, and scaling isn't as important.

I would think those could be done through either auras or specialized costume items. I'm guessing with UE4 those kinds of things would be readily doable - it'd just be a matter of the Devs being able to prioritize their time to get them done.

Oh yes this....give it options to look like shadow tentacles, slime tentacles, bunch of bugs tentacles, mechanical tentacles, tentacle tentacles (saying tentacles is fun).
I would actually go a step further and hope it was one of the options for power animations AS WELL AS a costume option. Want tentacles to do something take the animation, want them to be part of your costume but be functionless then take the costume part.
Another thing I would like is junk inspired costume parts....like you made your costume out of stuff you found around your garage or in the trash. Not all heroes are super rich Bruce Wayne.
One thing I really loved in CoX was how you could take the mostly generic stuff and mix and match easily. So I am all in favor or a lot of low detailed options that you can just have fun with.

Longshot, I know, but I would love to see costume sets themed like famous aircraft -- especially if said sets came with wings shaped and colored like those of the aircraft in question. I'd particularly geek out for WWII military sets. Spitfire wings, Mustang belly scoop, Corsair inverted gull wings. [George Takei]Oh, my![/George Takei]

COX had several different shield types like lava, ice, electricity, energy, but they really lacked in elemental costumes. Good elemental costumes would be awesome. Oh and YAY for Platform wedge Heels!

I thought JayBezz might like the boots shown in starting at 1:35. As fortune would have it, those are the last ten seconds of the video.

Cool vid. I'm hoping we'll eventually have at least 6 or 8 rocket boot styles to choose from, but if we only get 1 or 2 then something like this will have to be one of those 1 or 2. ;)

I would like to request

I would like to request GLORIOUS MAXIMILIAN PLATE ARMOR

This stuff is bulletproof (though I'd personally still line it with Kevlar) and a lot of really old art shows that it's the sort actual knights wore into combat. That's worth a lot to me.

Alternately, playing a temporally displaced landsknecht would be all kinds of awesome

An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".

Please more tech style costumes and pieces. The cyborg and clockwork sets were great from COX. Also, update the '50s military uniforms. MM pets and NPCs had full tactical gear, while the hero just emerged from the Army surplus store.

I would also add better renders of military equipment to better reflect their real world counterparts. If I create a US soldier, I'd like him to look as much like one as possible, both tactical and formal.

I would love to be able to

I would love to be able to apply a reflective surface instead of a color to areas of my costume and equipment.

Why "instead"? Why not be able to control not only the color of a costume item but also the amount of "shininess/dullness" it has?

Something like this would have been incredibly helpful in CoH because many times there were different mix-n-match costume items that would have worked great together other than the fact that some had more or less built-in reflectivity that made their colors not exactly match up side-by-side. With a "reflectivity slider" we could have corrected for those issues the way we wanted.

Both would be better, but I

Both would be better, but I wasn't assuming it would be possible to do both.
I was picturing a shiny metallic surface but a glossy leather or plastic of various colors would be cool also.

While we're at it could you make parts of our costume glow?
Paladin's nunchaku are supposed to glow
and a lot of characters have magic weapons or high tech energy weapons that should glow.

Not only glow, but glow at

Not only glow, but glow at various levels. Some of CO's costume pieces have a 'glow factor' for specific areas. You choose a color, then how much it glows. (Zero to Clark Griswold's Christmas lights display) I'd like to have that as an option.

If possible, I would love to get some musketeer hats, flashing blades costumes, fancy-dressing dandies, rogues, pirates, cavaliers, and royal guards from the 16th & 17th century Europe.

There has never been enough of that in any game.

While probably asking for too

While probably asking for too much, when it comes to wings, it would be really nice to have a few options for idle wings. Since wings were in CoH, presumably they'll make it into CoT. For the most part, when flying or super jumping, CoH wings looked great, but the rest of the time they looked like glued on cardboard cut outs.

Folding around like a cape.

Maybe a flat open position.

Heck, just retractable wings would be nice, only pop out when actually flying.
