I think it’s the fluffy aspect that will lull most enemies into a false sense of security. They’ll drop their guard, and it only takes that split second for a highly trained Super Fluffy, and then wham! They’re laying in a crumpled mess of blood and guts, convulsing now and again as their life force quickly ebbs away!!

Why? If MWM was going to give up they could have done that 5+ years ago -without- releasing the AB.
I don't think it's a 100% guarantee CoT will launch or that it'll launch anytime [color=red][i]soon[/i][/color]. But realistically I figure the odds are a bit better than 50/50 at this point precisely because they bothered to release the AB. At the very least it shows they're trying...

We do have more pieces than just the AB getting closer to being released, but it's very difficult to say even approximately when they'll appear, or in which order. The costume system was the first critical infrastructure technology to get completed enough to release, so it's the core right now. I can think of two other major chunks that might get added in the next few months. A "full" game, with missions and all the launch zones and factions, is further off, though, but I couldn't even guess timing much more than that.
My personal feeling is that momentum is building toward getting something a lot further along than "just" the AB, and progress may start looking more rapid. Mostly that's because there's been a ton of work behind the scenes getting stuff to this stage, and most of that work is hard to show off in a useful way. No one is going to care much about me doing, say, a major code cleanup on the character editor to make it release-grade, because that doesn't really impact what you see. But it's necessary for the game to be maintainable in the long term, and easier to add new features to. But people will see and care about UI and feature improvements in the character editor. Both parts are critical to ultimate success of the game.
As an aside, I will note I just happened a couple days ago to be looking at the shader code that handles the spandex layer of characters. It's an incredibly complex piece of code, and I was amazed at how well-written and organized it was. I'd never actually looked much at shader code before, but it only took me a few minutes to track down and answer the particular question I had. That's a wonderful piece of infrastructure that was coded probably a couple years ago or more. And it's one of many crucial pieces the AB was built up from. Those things are pretty much impossible to assess from the outside, but it ultimately makes a major difference in how the game moves forward.

Um, there is a game on Steam called 'Villagers and Heroes'. If you join a Group, you can get access to a 'Village'. In the village, you can have a personal house. The house comes with an Animal Pen and a Garden. These give you resources for some of your crafting, but they also need to be 'maintained', as otherwise, your house will disappear after 14 days.
The model for the Sheep is inherently shifty-eyed and untrustworthy-looking, so I infer that the Sheep are the ones that steal my house, if I don't show up to feed them carrots and water.
So, fluffy animals. Need care. Sheep. Shear and feed.

Frankly I consider it a shame that people still bother to waste their time to post on this forum to tell everyone that they assume this game will never launch. Even I've openly stated over the years that I don't believe there's a 100% chance it will happen. What more needs to be said on the topic other than that?
I can only assume that people who love to be Debbie-Downers about these kinds of things simply enjoy a particular flavor of schadenfreude that I've never developed a taste for.
For what it's worth I believe the folks at MWM are conscientious enough that if they ever decided as a group that there was absolutely no way they could continue to work on developing CoT that they'd make a public announcement to that effect. They are under no legal requirement to refund anyone's Kickstarter/Second Chance money so what would be the advantage for them to continue pretending that something was going to happen if they had already secretly decided it wasn't?

One interesting thing I've noticed is that generally, the loudest and most negative haven't contributed in any way. No offer to volunteer, no money in it at all...
