This is cool, but it's difficult to have any kind of discussion on this "update" when all we have is a picture of a download client/patcher of some sort and nothing else to go on.
Is the character creator ready to deploy? Is some kind of alpha testing phase underway? Please tell us something more.

The announcement in its current state has big implications if it's left without any extra commentary, so while I'm excited to imagine what this might mean, I'm also excited to find out what it actually means. Thanks for kickstarting my excitement again and for sharing something new with us. :)
I'd love to discuss this in more depth, perhaps one of the Devs can illuminate the screenshot a bit? Obviously the patcher appears to be working, but what does that mean? Are we closing in on Alpha testing of the Character creator/chat zone?
It's exciting regardless and I'm super excited for the Devs and everyone involved in the project. :)

Same. I've rerolled my old CoH Live character on Homecoming with some revisions and built him up to levels of power that I didn't understand game mechanics well enough to achieve back in the day. But I'm still more interested in playing him in CoT than playing him there, because I have mostly done everything and I know there won't be substantial new content added anytime soon, if ever.
I am probably making a mistake but i think it's 0.36 Go et no 3.6Go. If i'm right, it means, i think, the avatar creator only.
But it rather means that the launcher can be patched again and again and probaly have an account system too :)

Obviously, the thing that is the most exciting about this update is that its an update-update and not one of the mini-updates that gets featured in the Announcements box at the top of the website. That's 3.6GB = 10% of 36GB. Which would be most of the assets of an MMO client :)

I'm sure many people are eager to test this game out, as am I! I really miss City of Heroes so much! I spent so much time, effort, energy, etc., into that game! I was so heartbroken, when CoH was taken offline, back in 2012! I had so many Log-in rewards, such as wings, for example. I too, would love to test this game out! I would report bugs, and whatnot.
Is there any context to this? Or are we all just making assumptions?

I took this post to mean: make sure your e-mail is working as intended and to "stand-by".
Thats been the message for like 2 years now. I hope this post means what everyone wants it to mean...but we've been wrong before. Just remember they were 100% sure about release at this time last year so a screenshot with no explanation or comment from any dev really shouldnt give people the idea that launch is imminent.

I don't think the idea is that launch is imminent, but more that the Avatar Builder could be right around the corner. The last update teased that the AB is in alpha-ready status given that all the other systems needed to run and integrate it were a success and now they got a loading screen which likely means that it can load all the data packages and files from 0-to-100% smoothly without it breaking, stalling, or shutting down.
I'm open to being wrong and yes we're all making assumptions here. But lets just wait and see what the next update has in store for us.

Test Successful, images show up in the forum. Maybe a final In-Game shot of the city can replace the napkin drawing in the background when this is ready to be added to the launcher...soon.

If this is really an indication that it is actually working then it seems it's essentially just putting it together and we'll have Issue 0.

That is an awesome teaser, but will there be any clarification? are you doing internal testing is this just another step before internal testing, have you been kidnapped by canadian ninjas and forced to make a maple leaf hockey league game? any of these things could be inferred from that picture.
I feel like Canadian Ninjas wouldn't for press releases :p

With Ship of Heroes declaring their beta is ready and will be up in a few days, something must be done to keep CoT faithful morale up. All I am saying is Zero is not as crazy as many may think, and may be onto something.
Hindsight, they could announce testing within the upcoming days. They could also announce something which has nothing to do with player testing. We don't know for sure.
As a child, I thought my name was handsome, cause that is what everyone called me.
100% honest, Ship of Heroes (or any other game) doesn't in any way factor into update decisions. We're much too busy arguing over other things to even notice what's going on with other games.
