Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

The dev Digest has been "broken" for a very long time. So I thought I would put together a thread with the user tracking for as many devs as I could find. It's not ideal as you'll have to click each link to see if a dev has posted anything new. But it's better than nothing. Ashenfall is heavily involved in making our maps, yes. It's been his main task for a while. He's in the Art department.

Fred tests animation and combat, and also does a lot of world construction tests and such work.

Hmm. Odd. The tracking numbers are strange (just found this thread). We migrated these forums from the old PHPBB3 system I set up. Dr. Tyche did the migration and was one of the first people added after me as were all the other founding team. I'm guessing it just started numbering based on posting after the transfer but that's not quite right either.

I have added new peoples. 5 new devs have been identified and added to the list. Some need job titles and some need to at least convert their sig to HEX so that it doesn't take up so much space. Some are old friends who now have an orange badge and others are new friends. I've also heard rumors about a dev in the wild called Sith Rose, but I couldn't find her tracking information. It is a compact representation of information for use in binary code. Conceptually, it helps a little to understand how binary code is stored & transmitted. One bit is a 0 or a 1. One byte is eight bits. One byte is a collection of two hundred fifty-six distinct states. This is going to get a little obtuse, but hang in there, i'll loop back around. If you looked at half of a byte in its binary form (only sixteen states), they would look like the following.

Now that is not exactly easy to parse with the human eye. It is however very efficient and hopefully you can see the pattern. Most of us were taught how to count using the decimal system (0 to 9, powers of ten, etc). We want to be able to count zero to fifteen and that is a simple ask. The problem is how do you represent that efficiently on a computer? Numbers zero to nine are simple, it just takes a single character (0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9). Ten to fifteen is where we hit difficulties (0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-13-14-15), it takes two characters to represent those characters.

What if we just fabricate six numbers to represent those difficult ones? That is essentially what hexadecimal is, six fabricated numbers to allow us to efficiently represent six extra states. So using hex we can represent the sixteen states using just one character's worth of space (0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-A-B-C-D-E-F). let's revisit the half byte, but this time in hexadecimal form.

That is must easier for the human eye to comprehend. Sixteen distinct states represented by just one character. Easy peasy. Now we can represent two hundred fifty-six states (one byte's worth of information) with two characters. That way the letter 'a' can be represented in one byte of information as 61h (the h at the end is used to indicate that it is in hexadecimal format when you are communicating in mixed formats like this sentence).

TL;DR version:
You can go about converting by googling a hex to ascii table and do your own decoder ring thing. Or (on Windows at least) you can open up a search window or command prompt and launch CHARMAP. If you hover over the ascii character, a tooltip will appear with the hex conversion. If you select the character, the hex code will appear in a field at the bottom of the dialog.

That's how you get things like "Soon™". There is no "™" button on your keyboard, but there is a hexadecimal representation of that character and the text engine for this site knows how to interpret that value.

Now that is not exactly easy to parse with the human eye. It is however very efficient and hopefully you can see the pattern. Most of us were taught how to count using the decimal system (0 to 9, powers of ten, etc). We want to be able to count zero to fifteen and that is a simple ask. The problem is how do you represent that efficiently on a computer? Numbers zero to nine are simple, it just takes a single character (0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9). Ten to fifteen is where we hit difficulties (0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-13-14-15), it takes two characters to represent those characters.

What if we just fabricate six numbers to represent those difficult ones? That is essentially what hexadecimal is, six fabricated numbers to allow us to efficiently represent six extra states. So using hex we can represent the sixteen states using just one character's worth of space (0-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-A-B-C-D-E-F). let's revisit the half byte, but this time in hexadecimal form.

That is must easier for the human eye to comprehend. Sixteen distinct states represented by just one character. Easy peasy. Now we can represent two hundred fifty-six states (one byte's worth of information) with two characters. That way the letter 'a' can be represented in one byte of information as 61h (the h at the end is used to indicate that it is in hexadecimal format when you are communicating in mixed formats like this sentence).

TL;DR version:
You can go about converting by googling a hex to ascii table and do your own decoder ring thing. Or (on Windows at least) you can open up a search window or command prompt and launch CHARMAP. If you hover over the ascii character, a tooltip will appear with the hex conversion. If you select the character, the hex code will appear in a field at the bottom of the dialog.

That's how you get things like "Soon™". There is no "™" button on your keyboard, but there is a hexadecimal representation of that character and the text engine for this site knows how to interpret that value.

I know the decimal of the lower and uppercase A and Z. (And knowing how to calculate from Dec to Bin helps as well)

TLDR: HEX" is short for

TLDR: "HEX" is short for hexadecimal, with which as an old school little-black-and-red-box Traveller player I am familiar. I also did a bit of BASIC programming in high school, so I'm familiar with bits, bytes, and nibbles and the concept of character mapping to ASCII codes. Which is how you can get "Soon™" into a smaller number of bytes than using the BBCode, which lets you fit what looks like more information into the character limits of the site's .sig field.
