Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

On the subject of add-ons

Due to a last-minute issue, the add-ons did not make it into the Kickstarter before we submitted. They will be added as soon as it is approved. But people had some questions on add-ons they've sent me, so I thought to address everyone at once.

Add-ons are extra items, things which some people do want which do not fit in to the pyramid setup of KS perks. How it works for getting an add-on is that you make a pledge with Kickstarter for the tier you want + the cost of the add-on(s). At the end of the Kickstarter, we will send out a survey to ask which, if any, add-ons you wished for based on your over-donating for the tier you selected.

Now, here is the current list of add-ons we have:

Physical Items

Lanyard $10
Your typical convention-style swag sporting the Missing Worlds Media logo.

Mouse Pad $15
Your typical convention-style swag sporting the Missing Worlds Media logo.

T-Shirt(s) $25
Your typical convention-style swag sporting the Missing Worlds Media logo.

Wanted! $400
You will receive a 11x17 poster of your character signed by the artist

.

Digital/In-game Items

Music to Save/Harm Citizens By $10
Advanced access to the game score as pieces are completed by our audio team.

Narcissus $30
Your own, scaled down, pet scale version of yourself.

Kickstarter Edition Phoenix Pet $30
Our thematic mascot, scaled down to pet size with an exclusive Kickstarter theme.

It Must Be a Sign! $50
Your character’s emblem will be projected across the sky in zone as a marker for your missions, replacing the default mission marker.

BFF $50
Name one of the rank and file citizens of Titan City. You’ll design your character using the Secret Identity panel in the Avatar Creator and then see your creation helping breathe life into the city.

Agent $75
Design a character using the Secret Identity panel in the Avatar Creator who will hang out in the Supers’ night club, Titan City Gym, or another social location.

Iconic $150
Work with one of our artists to design an exclusive emblem for your personal use, supergroup or share with friends anywhere that an emblem may be applied. (chest, spotlight, base decorations.)

Immortalized $250
Design a holographic memory character statue with an in game animation cycles in either the Memorial park or City History Museum.

Everything is Better in Plaid $300
Work with our brilliant artists to design a custom costume pattern set that you’ll have the exclusive use of for 1 year or 4 issues - whichever is longer!

Mogul $500
Join the likes of Carnegie, Vanderburg, and Hershey: have one of our glorious skyscraper named after you, and gain the building’s penthouse as a unique living space or super base.

Just a note - some of these prices for the physical items only will rise due to VAT and possibly other local taxes if sent outside the USA.

How many of the above rewards are going to be limited? I foresee a discrepancy between the number of skyscrapers and office buildings in a city and the number of people who'll pay to have their name in them.

I'm a big kickstarter addict

I'm a big kickstarter addict and honestly when it comes down to it, when I choose to back something it usually is either because I immidietly feel like this project is happening... especially when it's "no matter what"... when I see there's lots of progress done on the project already... when I see the people on it are working like busy bees... when they post lots of updates... when they look like they have a plan and are keeping the community informed...

They other reason I might back a project even if I am less convinced is if there's a limited offer I can get in on by jumping on board early. Something unique and cool that you would get that could not be given to everyone in an MMO... however this is also the kind of stuff that might creat some envy later on and needs to be carefully weighted

I think you have all this well covered...
-You have cool rewards (the personalised emblem for example, really speaks to me)
-You already said this is going ahead no matter what
-You guys do seem hard at work
-Now all you have to do is make a convincing plea and show people this game is advancing and you will keep them in the loop (the Camelot Unchained gang is a good example in that regard)

Add-ons are not limited

Add-ons are not limited except to one per account. We don't think it likely that the more expensive ones will be bought in such a large number that we will have a problem accommodating them all. If there is a huge rush, then we can close out the option while the KS is running.

I think what zombie means is

I think what zombie means is you can buy as many add-ons as you want. Each digital add-on only applies to one account per digital add-on you buy. There is no limit to how many you can buy if you want to buy them. Just limited to how many times the digital ones can be used.

I have a couple questions

I have a couple questions regarding the "pets" as relayed to me via my wife.

1) can you have both the mini-me and the iconic KS mascot as pets at the same time?

2) are you going to need to feed or take care of said pets?
My wife is afraid she will get a pet and forget she has one only to find it ...well...having met its demise so to speak.

Thanks

Yes, up until the KS period ends, you can adjust your donation up or down, whether for extra tiers or extra add-ons. I'm told that the exception to this is that a day before KS ends, a donation may not be lowered if that puts a successful KS back into the unsuccessful status. I assume this is to prevent someone from inflating a KS and pulling out at the last minute.

There is nothing to stop MWM from taking funding on their main website after the kickstarter has happened. As an example, Elite Dangerous has done this.

Whilst they still offer *some* of the same rewards as what was on the kickstarter, they are not (as far as i can remember) the "limited quantity" stuff.

The kickstarter limited quantity perks should be (in my mind at least) be limited just to the kickstarter. There is *nothing* though that stops them from offering some other different perks (and they could well be limited, or slightly different version of the Kickstarter limited options), that were not in the kickstarter.

IF they choose to go this route, is up to them... and it could well be an option if the kickstarter doesn't hit the goal, in which case they will receive NO funding from kickstarter, and would have to start from the beginning again raising funds.

Quote:

1) I reject your reality.... and substitute my own
2) Not to be used when upset... will void warranty
3) Stoke me a clipper i will be back for dinner
4) I have seen more intelligence from an NPC AI in TR beta, than from most MMO players.

Ahem. To be a bit more clear:

  1. These are distinct from "pets" as used by pet-summoning characters (or whatever the official term ends up being)
  2. You will definitely be able to have more than one *total* on an account
  3. You may or may not be able to have more than one *out and active* at any given time. This depends on technical aspects that have not been sufficiently nailed down yet for us to make any promises in that regard.
  4. These pets have no game effect (nor any 'upkeep'), they are purely cosmetic. Examples of similar things from other games: the German Shepard from CityOf, Action Figures from Champions Online, the summonable "followers" (I forget the proper name) from RIFT, and so on.

We are currently trying to form a SG. We want to purchase the "AllYourBase" and "Mogul" add-on via one person and "Iconic" with another.(possibly even split them among 3 different people) Is this going to be possible? Well now that it's being

Well now that it's being discussed I guess I can bring this up. I was a backer of Shroud of the Avatar

I'm not sure if you are familiar with Shroud of the Avatar, but they had a brilliant idea that allowed the KS to continue beyond the actual KS.

They allowed every single person that donated during the KS window to link their account to their website and let them upgrade their KS contribution and work towards higher tiers.

I don't know about you but I can't drop $500 in one shot. But I sure as hell could drop $500 over the first year of Dev. And a few hundred thousand of us doing that should push you well over your initial goals.

SotA also let's them setup a monthly subscription that feeds each person's KS donation. Setup $15 a month and in a year that person that was only able to handle $15 in the original KS now has reached the $180 Tier.

They also have setup a secondary set of lesser rewards for people that missed the KS and want to donate towards the cause but still keep the original rewards for the original group of donators.

Fact of the matter is you need money and I don't see there being a problem getting the initial amount funded.

I do see an opportunity to increase that capital by a huge degree if you take the reality check that people will pay more in installments.

This added a full $500,000 and an extra 2300 backers, after the KS ended and it's daily growing with all the people on payment plans to increase their initial donation amount.

Raised: $2,427,803 TOTAL
SotA Website: $508,528 > Kickstarter: $1,919,275

24,685 Backers
SotA Website: 2,363 > Kickstarter: 22,322

Yes, but don't short yourself out of potential income later. Some of these things could reasonably be offered as regular market items and in-game event rewards, while others might be re-issued as part of subsequent funding drives to pay for large expansions or whatever, so you might not want to take the option of doing such things off the table entirely.

I was not aware that this was allowed. I'm still not sure it is, as it seems to b0rk Kickstarter's basic system, either preventing the funded company actually being able to collect their money at the close of the funding drive or attempting to bypass part of the fees associated with Kickstarter. Would this extended "account" not actually be a completely separate system, unaffiliated with Kickstarter?

A lot of companies,

A lot of companies, especially computer games and board games, have an after market where you can get extra stuff after the end of the Kickstarter. I've only seen them down when the Kickstarter was successful. A few have ran concurrent campaigns, one on kickstarter and a second that accepts paypal or other forms of payment that Kickstarter doesn't use. They usually add the money from both campaigns for determining any stretch goals that are given out.

I personally wouldn't advice doing concurrent campaigns. You lose some money because some people don't have credit cards, but the added complexity would be a lot of work to keep straight, and you really need to have the kickstarter succeed as well as possible for financial and PR reasons. OTOH, if you fund and more in the first week, starting up a concurrent campaign might be an option. Using Shroud of the Avatar's method of allowing people to increase their rewards over time might be a very good option for after the campaign. I didn't realize they were doing that or I would have been giving them more money. Hard to keep up with all the campaigns I've backed.

Shroud has a link on thier KS

Shroud has a link on thier KS page that sends you to thier game page to pledge anything, after the KS closed. I'm a backer of Shroud also, and he is right there is a link you have to do to copy your KS pledge over thier system if you wish to add more to it. instruction for it came in one off thier Email updates to me.

Oh I've linked my account over there, I just didn't look closely enough at what they are doing to realize I could do a subscription model to add a small amount of money to my pledge every month. Like he says, $120 is too much but $10 a month is easy.

In an effort to not

In an effort to not accidentally short yourself on the KS - I initially posed this question vm PM in order to keep it from the general public.
It really should be kept on the DL until the KS is successfully funded. If it funds EARLY(like with Shroud) they didn't make it known this was a possibility until after the campaign was funded.

I would think that at this point MWM should probably return a response of - "No we don't have plans to do this right now and lock this thread."
If they "change their mind" they can add it after the KS is funded.

On a personal Note - I would sign up for a sub or upgrade my Pledge over time once the initial KS was funded.

I had some questions about the "BFF" add-on.

1. Will they simply be like the pedestrians in CoH who bumped into you and didn't say "Excuse me"?
2. Will they gossip about a player character? ("Psst. Isn't that Amerikatt? I heard that she released all the big cats from the Titan City Zoo!")
3. Will they be mission-givers? If so, will they give missions to everyone or just to the person who purchases the add-on?

Thanks!

Good one, WingsofFreedom! Amerikatt is a Silver Age character, so her outfit *is* *very* retro! Of course, being a cat, she doesn't wear boots (although one artist *did* draw her with both gloves and boots. Once!) :P

If you noticed, the Iconic allows the person to grant access to other players of their choosing. This would include for their SG.

Im disappointed the T-Shirt add-on doesn't have an option more "game-centric".
I love MWM for making the game but I want a t-shirt with the game itself on it.

Will there be any option for this?

Hi Nate and crew.

Hi Nate and crew.
Just a quick reply to congratulate you all on an epic Kickstarter launch!
I reckon you can all now go have a well deserved sleep for 48 hours solid after burning the midnight oil for so long!
Regarding the add-ons. I would like a T-Shirt and have added the cost into my pledge - are you guys planning on a distribution outlet for the European pledgers, thereby saving costs on dispatching from the US?

You pick out the base reward level you're pledging at, and then when you get to the screen where you have the dollar value you're pledging and the description underneath, you can change the amount to include the add-ons you want. At this point, it's just the total amount; there will have to be an additional exchange with the various pledgers later to get the particular break-out of the add-ons they want, based on their pledge amounts.

Yes, at the end of the KS campaign, a survey is usually sent out that allows for the inclusion of any add-ons etc

Hello, I have a couple of

Hello, I have a couple of questions:

Costume design:
What is the difference between the "Fashionista" $3,000 pledge level, and the "Everything is Better in Plaid" $300 add-on? (that you get with it) Aside from the money difference and one being a pledge and the other an add-on, the descriptions seem very similar. And obviously with a pledge you get all the lower-tier pledge bonuses. Just talking about the benefit itself, do these both basically accomplish the same thing of being able to design your own costume beyond the costume parts that will ship with the original avatar designer to start?

I ask because I always got frustrated when I was trying to create a particular concept in CoH because they didn't quite have this or that costume part to do it, and I am thinking either of these may solve that, at least for one character, or more in the case of the add-on.

Base and doors:
- Does the "All your base" $500 pledge level / or perk mean that you will have a special set of doors in your base, or that there will be a special type of door or doors located throughout the game that will take you to your base? I guess it is unclear to me how the secret doors would be used.
- On a related note to this, would the base you get in the "Mogul" add-on be a place where these doors might lead to?
- Side note: I really like the "Mogul" add-on, I wish there were a pledge level that included this ;-)

Thanks

It will only be for one of you. If you want a pet on both accounts, you'll need to buy the add-on twice. Official answer is given here:

Plaid is graphics pattern like plaid, star burst, flames, etc. that is applied to any costume.

Fashionista is costume mesh from scratch. And thus, Fashionista incorporates 'Plaid' since you get to add the pattern you design to the mesh you design. And Fashionista includes a prop/weapon and designing specific pieces of the ensemble.

For All your Base, the extra entrance is a door in the city reserved as a second entrance to your base. If your base is the Penthouse from Mogul, then, yes, that extra door can be set up to take you there.

T-shirt designs will be released before the KS ends. Can't give you a hard date at this time. Our Art Lead said the plan is that there will be choices between: B&W CoT logo, a heroes' logo, and a villains' logo, and maybe a fourth.

There is no shipping cost for the physical add-ons. We took that into account with the pricing.

Okay I'm really lost and

Okay I'm really lost and confused on the Add-Ons and how it works and all that. I've done backed a kickstart before but there are some things i would love to donate money for just to get The JG name in game. So lets say i pledge 50 bux. So I get the Home Sweet Home package along with all the rewards before it. Now lets say I want to have the JG Emblem up in the sky. Do I get that option already because I donated 50 Bux. Or do I have to donate another 50 bux which means I now donated 100 bux. And does that now turn my package into the Fly Free package? If I donate 500 bux do I get a named building and the All Your Base package. Do I donate 500 bux and pick if I want the All Your Base package or a Named Building. And also once the kick start timer is over. Is that it? What If I want to still buy an add on. Another thing. There's already a ton of backers listed passed the 500 amount. If there are a 100 people wanting a named building is that going to happen or will you end up limiting that or what.

The add-ons are extras that you have to pay more for, and they do not affect your selected perk level. When the KS ends, MWM will mail everyone who pledged more than their selected perk level, and ask them which add-on they wanted.

So, if you select the Home Sweet Home package for $50, and pledge $50, than all you will get is the Home Sweet Home perks. If you select Home Sweet Home, and pledge $100, you will get the Home Sweet Home perks, plus you can choose It Must Be A Sign. You do NOT get Fly Free, unless you actually select Fly Free.

No matter how much more you pledge, you will always get whatever package of perks you select - they're radio button, so you can only select one at once. The actual amount then pledged really has nothing to do with the perk level, except that you must pledge at least enough to reach the reward you selected. (I.e. you can't pledge $10 and get Fly Free). Someone could choose the 'no reward, thanks' level, and pledge $1000, just to support the project.

Hope this was helpful -- let me know if it still isn't clear.

If there are a 100 people wanting a named building is that going to happen or will you end up limiting that or what.

Let's give you a concrete example:

You select the $250 explo badge perk. You also select the immortalised add on, also $250.

You get the $250 perk, plus all the ones below it, including the $125 dynamic duo, which means you get all the lower perks on BOTH accounts. The $250 perk because it is above dynamic duo only applies to one, so you get one badge.

The add-on applies to one account, you have to buy it twice if you want it for both.

To pay for this, you select the $250 perk off the list, but in the total amount of money pledged, you put $500 and MWM will catch up with you later to find out whether you want immortalised or a small army of T-shirts etc.

To answer your specific question, pledging $50 gets you the $50 pledge, you buy add ons separately, so the $50 pledge and $100 as the total amount to get the $50 add-on as well. This does not entitle you to a higher value perk.

There has been discussion of what will be available after the KS, but I don't believe any final decision has been taken yet.

Does that include for people who are actually *outside* of the US as well? If not, you could actually end up spending a bit of cash shipping out to the the non US users....

To be sure I understand. I have to make a backers pledge before getting an add on. If I want a shirt and BFF add on I would have to donate 5 to be a backer and 75 for the add on. So when asked how much in donating I say 80. I can't just donate only 75 and get the add ons. And regardless how much I donate in the end someone is going to contact me to verify what I want and not just assume that because I donated 125 for one of the backer packages.

That's right. The radio button selection is the sole factor that determines your perk package. You will get whichever perk package you selected with the radio buttons, no matter how much you donated above that amount. If your donation is larger than your chosen perk, MWM will contact you after the KS funds to find out which add-ons you wanted.

I will have to come back after work -- I think I still have the example image on imageshack, but the actual imageservers are blocked here, so I can't see the correct image to pick -- but an idea I pitched to Positron at one of the SDCCs was to create variants of existing costume pieces that changed what was 'uncolorable' to create different costume effects. For example the CoH 'Tech Sleek' costume pieces had exposed mesh between the armor plates, and the 'Tech Sleek' pattern applied to them would shade the joint mesh differently than the actual armor plates -- the primary color you picked would be applied to the plates, and the secondary color to the mesh between the plates. If you picked another pattern, though, the pattern was applied across the entirety of the costume pieces -- so if you picked, say, 'Camouflage', the camo pattern would cover the joint mesh as well as the armor plates. What I suggested was taking sets like Tech Sleek and make a variant that would make parts uncolorable, so they would have a fixed color baked into the piece, and whatever pattern you wanted would be applied only to the armor plates. I don't know where this would fall in the range between 'Fashionista' and 'Plaid', because it's not creating any new geometry, but it's more than just painting an existing geometry, since it would be allowing other patterns to be applied to the geometry, just limiting where the pattern gets applied.

The first image below shows the 'Tech Sleek' costume and pattern on the left, 'Tech Sleek' costume with 'Camouflage' pattern on the right, and in the middle using the 'Tech Sleek' pattern to make the mesh uncolorable, so the 'Camouflage' pattern is only applied to the armor plates.

The second image shows the 'Stealth' costume with the 'Stealth' pattern secondary color areas market uncolorable, making the 'Fade' pattern apply only to the area that is the primary color in the 'Stealth' pattern.

If you mean when can you buy them, the answer is now. Say you want a $75 perk and a $25 add-on. Select the $75 perk package but put $100 in the amount pledged. We'll ask you what add ons you want for the $25 after the KS closes.

Generally what happens is that, after the kickstarter funds, people will send out a link to a survey that says "You have pledge level X; you pledged Y. Use this survey to select the (Y-X) value in add-ons."

Okay, now I'm totally confused about the Ad-ons. I see them, but you can't purchase them yet, right?

(you can purchase Pledges on the right scroll bar, but I don't see any place to actually purchase the add-ons...)

Add-ons are not purchased independently on KS...Instead you include them into your tiered pledge by increasing the amount pledged by the add-on total.

For instance, You choose the "Dynamic duo" tier ($125.00) and want to add the custom theme music ($10.00) as well as the "Iconic" add-on ($150.00). At the top right side of the KS page is a button labeled "Manage Your Pledge". Select that and increase the $125.00 shown (this is defaulted based on the tier originally selected) by $160.00 (the cost of both add-ons). So, your total amount is 125+160=$285.00

I hope this helps

A new beginning, forged from hope never ending!!

Correct. Add up the total of the add-ons you want and add that to your pledge. After the KS is over, they will contact you to see what you wanted the extra funds to go to.

Every KS has a lot of

Every KS has a lot of confusion regarding add-ons. I think KS (and projects using it) need to post tutorials on how they work.
