So it's finally time to give this giveaway a try and see who wins some goodies.
The game: Continue the story.
The rules: I have wrote a little bit here to get things started, each person that responds gets one post to add to the story. But only one post per person. If you don't want to contribute in that way, you are free to post what ever you want. It's the post that matters. The quality of the growing story in no ways determines who the winners will be. Tomorrow morning i will do five random number draws and the posts with those numbers will be the winners. At which time they will be able to pick one patch from my store to be shipped to them. All for free of course.
Store Link: https://www.etsy.com/shop/NerdgasmEmbroidery (Side note here. My CoT patches aren't up in my store but they can be picked as rewards as well.)
If you would like to chat about the event or the story, please don't post it here (after your first post) instead do it either in a separate post, or in the CoT fan Discord server. If you aren't in the discord yet, get in there! https://discord.gg/TeEhqF
If you would like to see some examples of my patches, you can see some in this post https://cityoftitans.com/forum/im-planning-do-giveaway
And to the Devs, take a break from building CoT and get in here and play too.
So enjoy, have fun, and Please Bring Justice to Abe "Patchwork" McKinley he might have a family for all we know.
< -- * . . * -- >
The quickly darkening sky flashed a bright shade of blue as the storms first droplets of cold rain splashed across the back of Detective, Frank Miller’s exposed neck. He grumbled.
In his youth he didn’t mind the rain, hell one could say he even enjoyed it after a long day. Now, however, every drop made his old joints ache and he had enough aching to last a lifetime without any help from the rain.
He stood before a two story office building located in one of the more shady sides of Titan City. Grime coated the old brick facade. Much in the same way it coated the residents that made this part of town home.
Frank walked the cracked and crumbled walkway to the front door and reached for the knob. In the split second it takes to turn a door handle, the storm unleashed. Frank sighed as rain pounded it’s way through his clothes. It was going to be one of those nights...
Once inside, he climbed the stairs to the second floor. Down the hall, second door on the right. The door was in a “private investigator” style. Hardwood, with a large glass window in the center. The name Abe “Patchwork” McKinley was stenciled over top the glass. The door hung ajar. Broken free of its lower hinges.
In the early days of the city, Patchwork terrorized the streets as one of the worst villains out there. Frank gave a chuckle, he was the worst all right. As in he sucked, he couldn’t even steal the purse from a senile old lady correctly.
After a long career of succeeding at nothing, Patchwork hung up the mask and took to other, more legitimate ventures. Not everyone with super powers, should be a Super, Frank thought, pushing open the door. It gave a loud creak, straining against its own unbalanced weight.
The office wasn't as shabby as the outside of the building would lead a person to believe. Good hardwood floors, well lit, even a fairly new couch along the wall. Going legitimate had been good for old Patchwork. A number of tables lined the walls, each topped with an assortment of embroidery machines.
Embroidery, well at least it fit the name...
Of course, most of the good was covered up by the clutter. Patches scattered across the floor like they were yesterday's trash. Drawers upended, a multi colored rainbow of thread spread from one end to the next.
Frank walked closer to the old desk positioned in the center of the room, broken glass crunching and grinding under his shoes. The desk, an antique that very well one could have once been featured on The Antique Roadshow. Would have been perfect condition had it not been for that massive split down the middle and poor Patchwork’s beaten and bruised corpse smashed into its surface.
“Who did you piss off this time?” Frank muttered.
Cool
"THE TITANS ARE COMING! THE TITANS ARE COMING!"
Staring at the mess on the desk, Frank noticed a letter opener that could have been used as a weapon, but which hadn't been (since it was still clean) which had a series of etched markings on it that looked like words. Peering closer at the (not used as a weapon) letter opener, he was able to read the words:
Do not bend, fold, spindle or mutilate.
"Well, at least some people can follow instructions..." Frank mumbled to himself.

Verbogeny is one of many pleasurettes afforded a creatific thinkerizer.
While Frank wasn't sure if the letter was a clue to his back story or if it was just a joke, by the evil trickster cunningly hiding his true self.
So he decided to continue his ransacking and found some weird dolls made out of wood. Each one had a bizarre shape inscribed.

One of the shapes looked at first glance like one of those yin-yang symbols, but different:

Another wooden doll looked like old Patchwork himself, his final moments immortalized in a silent scream.
"Oh! The irony!!"

So since we only had seven people post. I'm going to leave this going for a couple more days and see what happens.
Seems pretty safe to assume that no one else wants to post here so I'm going to shut this test event down. \
Instead of doing five winners and leaving out two people, which doesn't seem very fun to me, I'm going to do one draw for the custom patch. And everyone else that posted will be given a patch of their choice.
I still plan to give away more after issue 0 launches, probably through costume contests, when more people are around.
But for this one i will be sending each of the posters above a private message with my store link. Pick out on you would want from there or one of the CoT patches i designed and let me know.
So to get the random custom patch winner, i used googles RNG and smashed the button a good three times.
And the winner is : Ravrohan
Forums seemed to have taken a slight dip for the holidays, but yeah, once Issue 0 is out ;)
