Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Superman is, contrary to

Superman is, contrary to appearances, alien. As in "not human." Our Earth physics. etc. does not necessarily apply to him (hence his powers). A better example is Cyclops, of Marvel's X-Men. He can clearly see (though only in shades of red) while firing his optic beams. Still, that is an aspect of his physiology due to his mutant power. I wonder if it would be the same having the equivalent of a spotlight directly shining in your eyes. Probably, for the same reason: it's an aspect of your power. If your enemies think it blinds you, all the better. Surprise and being underestimated can be a handy tool to have available. :)

Cyke is a little weird in that regard. I believe they retconned his blasts to “portals” to a pocket dimension, rather than his eyes just straight up generating l4z0r beams.

Man, X-Men was probably the best goddamn comic book series of all time for a while there :P

Was. For awhile. Though my favorite will always be the Avengers (back when being an Avenger meant something besides "You exist in the Marvel Universe, of course), my all-time favorite story was the final issue of the Dark Phoenix Saga. Though I read that story as a reprint, in the series "Classic X-Men." :)

On the question of Superman being able to see while doing his "laser eye"? Yes he can. He's used it to do fine carvings and has shown other evidence of selective fire ability that would require his still being able to have his full visual capacity. His blast is derived from his X-ray vision ability which uses an active beam. This was fully described in the original, official, Superman Encyclopedia many years ago (I wish I still had that even if it's getting out of date).

I'm fully aware he can, the question really is should he be able to. Like, realistically which I know realism and comics only have a passing relationship.

Why wouldn't he? Cyclops can see while his blast is going as well. Everything has a red tint for sure, which as I come to think of it, I have to wonder why I don't recall him ever having an issue with colors.

Why wouldn't he? Maybe because he'd have an incredibly bright light near his eyes? Pretty sure Supes has been shown to be affected by things like flash bangs before.

Like, his heat vision is visible in daylight.

It would be pretty funny if he accidentally set off an explosion or something because he pressed the wrong color button.
"Scott, why did you press the red button? That idiot made the bomb so easy to diffuse and you set it off?!"
"They are all red Jean, everything is always red. I didn't even know not everyone had red hair until I was 14 Jean, just lay off me. Ever wonder why I never comment when you are picking out colors for the kitchen? I don't even know what color our suits are!"

Maybe because of the amount of photons leaving his eyes it would scatter or deflect the ones coming in, thus reducing or even "eliminating" them?

Now I'll be disappointed if that's not an option at launch, don't care if it's base or unlock just that it's there.

As for other auras that I'd like to see.
Elements like wind, electricity, frost/ice.
Liquid, both dripping and "squirting".
Pestilence type cloud of particles, bugs, and such.
Damage robot, random small electric arcs, cogs falling off, and such. Maybe even biological equivalents.
Arcane/energy circles. Both whole body and around individual parts with options for arcane formulas, runes of different kinds, "standard" scripture, and mathematical formulas.
Energy "envelope", just a bunch/mass of energy enveloping the body.
And of course a lot more options to the circling orbs, both in types of items and in their pattern/speed.

God, I hate superman.

God, I hate superman.

Anywho, if his laser beam is Xrays. they're invisible so he can see through them.

But also he's superman who makes -50 sense.

A sufficiently powerful Xray beam would be visible in that it would react with the molecules in the air causing them to fluoresce. So while the beam itself wouldn't be visible the atoms energized by interacting with them would glow. But this is comics books so we wave our hands and say it's a power and that's the way it is.

x-ray fluorescence really

x-ray fluorescence really only occurs in metals, so unless the air is vaporized metal, no visible light would be seen.

I'm not sure if Superman's heat vision is the same as his X-ray vision. Like, I'm not sure they're both the same thing... Though he can seemingly use both at the same time, so who knows.

An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".

We have to establish the color of the pin first. We can't possibly have a meaningful discussion until we know the color of the pin.

...and we must semantically

...and we must semantically define our terms! What exactly IS "to dance"? Or do you just "know it when you see it"?

And for the record, outgoing photons interfering with incoming photons would be at most negligible due to subatomic scale distances. Even in an extremely dense photon beam like a high powered laser the distences between the photons are, relative to scale, vast. You could shoot two 1,000 terawatt lasers directly at eachother's sources and there would be negligible interference. And probably a big explosion.

Yeah that's actually one of the reasons why I suggested earlier in the thread that this kind of emote ought to have the "orbiting things" be somewhat erratic and orbiting in different paths. With all the objects in different orbital paths the chances that they would collide/merge together would be greatly reduced.

I remember one of the powers of CoX you would rip random stuff out of the ground and throw it at enemies. There was a rotation of a few different models. Is there any chance of an aura like that?

Like if you activate it in a park or woods you get nature debris
if you activate it in a building you get office supplies and electronics
if you activate it outside you get sewer tops and street debris.

Well that made it easy from an implementation point of view. All the game had to do is tell Player A that Player B was using that power. The game didn't have to bother to tell everyone exactly -which- object was being thrown because each person's individual client could just randomly pick one and show it on each player's screen. It's saved the game from having to send extra data around the network.

If you think about this idea a little further you'll realize this is how games handle all sorts of things like the way capes, clothing and hair move on each person's screens. ;)

Apologies if this was already suggested, but thanks to SavageFist's idea of a Ghost/Force Field aura, my brain went to how City of Heroes had the option of replacing arms with robot arms or such... and then I wondered what if you could have the option to just remove a limb entirely and the ghost aura is acting as that limb?

Topics related to this (ghost limbs, invisible limbs, limb replacements, etc.) have been talked about on various threads of this forum over the years. We've covered similar ideas on the Costume Suggestion thread as well.

Based on what Devs have said when they've commented on those discussions I doubt you'd ever see an aura act as a "replacement" for a limb, especially by launch time. But maybe they'll eventually figure out some way to incorporate transparency with auras to effectively simulate what you're talking about here.

This would be good for a concept as simple as Susan Storm (Invisible Woman). I mean, if it can be done for a limb, it could be done for the whole body, or for parts of a body (you're invisible, but you make your head visible to talk to someone without them talking to a disembodied voice, Cheshire Cat style). This could be a lot of fun. :)

I wonder if they'll still allow you to remove a limb completely? At least an arm...a leg might be difficult for movement purposes.

Auras that SHOULD be in the

Auras that SHOULD be in the game: smoke, frost/cold, Petals/leaves, evil (think black clouds with eyes that randomly appear), good (think starburst behind character, like the overly dramatic posters for heroes), outline (think Lantern Corps), things (think ghosts, animals, stars, etc.), insects, and probably a few others I can't think of right now.

Another request that comes to mind: I would love to have an aura that looks like a barrier just barely coating the hero’s skin, like a thin film or shell.

I have a concept for a guardian who has radioactive and barrier powers, and they have to maintain a constant barrier around themselves to contain their radioactivity. Would love to make that reality!

Yeah that’s almost exactly what I was thinking! Although in my imagination (as I’ve mentioned in the past it’s quite vivid) instead of the aura just being a “bubble” around the hand it would actually trace the outline of the hand. But that is just about what I envision.

I know that Minion Master

I know that Minion Master type characters are not coming til later after release, but what is the feasibility of auras on pets?

IIRC, there are plans for pet customization. I think this would add a layer to it that would be pretty cool.

Have a bunch of 'demon dogs' with flame auras on their legs, storm wolves, whatever you can think of.

Ooooo.... yes. That would open up a HUGE number of thematic options for each set.

I would looooove to see minion creation options on par with character creation. You could simply have character creation double as minion creation.

I understand that would limit minions to being similar to players instead of being dogs or giant spiders or whatever but....why not just make those as additional options for player models? Even if they only come as a single pre-made look in order to make non standard models feasible.

I know not an aura but some

I know not an aura but some of the comments just made me think it would be neat to have a bubble gum chewing, blowing bubble and popping emote.

Some aura ideas from cartoons:
pig pen from peanuts dirt aura
tasmanian devil aura(or maybe it could be a travel power)
Conscience aura such as a devil on one shoulder and angel on the other or could be your character one in glowing red or glowing white

Marvel Heroes emote ideas:
Star shield emote on the ground
Target emote on the ground
basically place anything on the ground ala Marvel Heroes

bunch of laser dots that move around the character as if being targeted by many sniper rifles
moving target reticle around the body or head, again as if the character is being targeted by a weapon.
eye sparkle ala Cable
CoH had some neat combat HUDs that were on all the time or when combat started. I wish they had expanded the designs as there were only like 2 or 3 iirc.

If were talking about characters leaving marks on the ground as they walk like a bunch of plants springing up, lava or cracks then I would like my character to walk on bubble wrap.

Reward tactics as well as damage dealing.

They actually are doing so, or at least using the base systems for PC, NPC, and minion creation. The difference between them will be the UI (I guess both for us when available and the devs), the set of costume pieces, and base body models available. This makes it so that if they want to share costume pieces between NPCs, PCs, and minions it's only an entry in a database, no actual work involved to make it "work" in another character generation system. I expect though that with time at least the NPC and minion side will expand with more body models than just humanoid, though with very limited amount of costume pieces.

Certainly a lot of good ideas in this thread. Personally, I always did like the path auras in CoH, but was sometimes disappointed I could have a path aura in addition to a body aura. However, I remember one of the goals was to allow multiples in a given costume slot, like more than one "hat".

I'm think, and hope, that such will be part of the travel power itself rather than general aura customization primarily because you want to have different auras for different travel powers.

Thinking about it I don't think it will be that much different from toggle powers in terms of implementation. Heck, wouldn't surprise me if they have a fairly large common base.

Plenty of ideas above that I second. In addition:

1. Sparkles ( i.e. Dazzler )
2. Swirling Leaves
3. A Large Atom ( i.e. rotating electrons that go around the character )
4. Electronic Grid ( kind of like a personal force field that hugs the body, but looks like Tron - maybe have pulses of light that follow the electronic pathways )
5. Spherical Force Field ( i.e. Sue Storm )

This one sounds familiar - I'm reasonably sure I suggested something like this a year or two ago for a costume change emote over on the Costume Suggestion thread. The idea was that the tendrils would engulf the character completely and then "transform" him/her wearing the new costume. But it'd obviously be cool as some kind of "regular" emote as well. :)
