Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

Doing Captain America kind of bouncing of the shield to get around cover, corners, flanking attack, and such would very difficult with that one since you would need to perfectly control the spin on it.

Looks very cool though.

To be fair, the game will likely only deal in straight lines for thrown shields. and that would be for any ranged attack.

Unless the attack was an AOE attack, and there was an animation available similar to a certain Protection Paladin ability in WoW...
You still need LoS to the origin point of the AoE, most likely.

Yes Yes I know, but I can't really help myself in regards to bringing up the practical side of things in general settings, not just for the game mechanics.

If DCUO devs can do it,

If DCUO devs can do it, anyone can. They 'Implied" Unreal 3 as an excuse to not include bodysliders, although EOS uses Unreal 2 & has bodysliders. Oh, or was it the PS3 that they could not have bodysliders.

I get that many of us on the forums have zero experience in development, but we have zero experience in development, not zero brains. Then they stated PS3 excuses were overblown after support was dropped; Naw.....You don't say?

DCUO shield aesthetics were

DCUO shield aesthetics have the advantage of being custom designed for the shield weapon set.

But with aesthetic decoupling we would have to open it up for almost any option so making a set of aesthetics strictly for shields does not seem worth the investment to me.

However, I am with you that if we do want to throw shields we should look excellent while we do so. So I have an idea:

First, we already surmise that some character animations will be made available because of the prop chosen. If we choose a shield as a prop, I would expect there would be some shield specific character animations to go along with it. I think the animations DCUO used are pretty much flawless for a shield-weilder and I would use those as a model example. But that's just the character animation.

Second, I think it would make sense that a "boomerang" power aesthetic package become an option. Maybe make it a cash shop item or included with some future expansion. When I say a boomerang aesthetic, I am talking about a flight profile for a ranged projectile power that looks like the projectile is thrown and then returns to the point of emanation. This package could include a few things: It could include several different styles of flight paths/arcs we can choose from for the projectile to travel from the emanation point, to the target and back. I could include some unique throwing animations not available in the vanilla options. And since "thrown item" is an open-ended proposition, there could even be some props and power aesthetics that also come with this package, such as actual boomerangs, soccer balls, chakrams, yo-yo's, super-sized throwing stars, etc. But any existing power aesthetic could also take advantage of this for people who have falcons, skulls, fire sprites, or flying fists. And this package could be made available to you for the low low price of just USD$4.99

If we can imagine it here, there is probably a way to develop it in a way that has at least some ROI for the devlopers.

Edit: Yes, I know I'm being a hypocrite. I am always saying that we should be allowed to express what we want without having to concern ourselves with whether or not it is doable, easy, or difficult. But I couldn't resist the thoughts that were popping into my head about other uses for shield throwing animations.
I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.

Yeah if they can't do body sliders it's probably because the body proportions are already baked in, and quite honestly they should've been more honest with that, not lie and say that it's Unreal's fault....

I feel like the ability to take responsibility and ownership over ones own shortcomings, mistakes, and missteps is one of those traits that is in increasingly short supply these days. Pointing fingers and deflecting is more in vogue.

As you say a generalized "boomerang power aesthetic package" would be useful for (or at least tangentially related to) a large number of character themes, not just shield users. For instance here's several pics that show several variations of the concept:

I would easily pay for this as a cash shop package. It would likely have a large ROI as you suggest.

For starters depending on their size/shape they could be both melee and/or thrown weapons. They could also be made out of all sorts of things (metal, crystal, energy, etc.) which lends them to many different character concepts. I'd be amazed if CoT didn't offer at least several types as props.

I really like the huge chakram that is so big as to practically (well... impractically) be wielded as a huge two handed weapon... a hoola hoop of doom. It’s a bit different from the standard greatsword or warhammer or unreasonably big gun, but would be a neat aesthetic, especially when thrown!

Hey get really nutty with it and make it so big that it could be used as a really weird mode of transportation!

Basically I'd love it if we could '"weaponize" something like the following into being a bit more like a martial art instead of a gymnastic one:

Never before has the hoola hoop been so impressive and badass to me. I think we’re on the same wavelength with this :D.

As far as the transportation piece, I was less thinking flying on a floating disc (though i would like that too) and more thinking “literally standing or sitting inside the hoop while it spins like a wheel”. It would be a totally ridiculous and physically improbable mode of transport, but I would dig it nonetheless.

Yeah that's the problem with linking to google pics on a forum like this - you're at the mercy of whatever's available to link to. ;)

Your idea is probably more like the following artist rendition of the classic Superman II scene except imagine it with only only person inside the revolving rings and having those rings be the means for that character to fly:

Also this would be a neat way to depict a shielded character - kind of an alternate way to depict a "force field" around a character.

Yeah those are fine too even though that obviously strays a little more towards "full-blown vehicle" instead of "prop".

We've already been told that getting "vehicles" are probably a pretty long way off in CoT so I figure getting some variation of hoop(s) floating around us as a weapon prop, aura and/or costume item is probably far more likely to happen in any kind of near term.
