Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

I hear that Marvel

I hear that Marvel Heroes Omega [ https://marvelheroes.com/ ] is a decent game.

You can try-out any of the characters for free until Level 10. To get to Level 11, though, you would need to press the T button and purchase that character with either Eternity Shards (in-game currency which drops from Naughty Spawns) or real-life money. Unless you like to grind Shards, it is better to buy the character with RL money and save the Shards for other things.

A nice thing is that you get a reward for daily logins. Among those rewards (at some point) are a box of 200 Shards, as well as a random character token. You can also collect in-game currencies and buy random character tokens from a vendor.

If all that does not make you run out and try the game, I have saved the best for last! You can play ... SQUIRREL GIRL!!!!

I put quite a few hundred hours into Marvel Heroes back before they went Omega and launched on console. I enjoyed it right up until Biggest Update Ever (BUE) and stopped playing for a host of reasons. It was certainly worth the time and money I put into it, but it was time to move on.

Edit: I just looked it up on Steam, and I put 1634 hours into Marvel Heroes.

That's quite an endorsement!

I just started playing MHO Tuesday afternoon (7/25). I like Squirrel Girl (but I may be biased)!

1. I play on PC, not console;
2. I don't know Black Cat (!);
3. Squirrel Control seemed like such a silly power that I knew it would be lots of fun (and very much "me"); and
4. I seriously doubt that even Marvel's A-List characters can beat "Squirrelpocalype" as a power!

Thanks for suggesting Black Cat. I'll at least try the character.

EDIT: Black Cat is a criminal! I guess she is supposed to be the Marvel version of DC's Catwoman! *purrs*

For some reason, she likes explosions (which Is not my "thing"].

Do you like the idea of random effects proc'ing to give you an extra boost every once in a while?

I have no problem with random effects or procs for combat (hate both for crafting/character creation and the like) but never liked it when both are combined. A chance to have a known effect occur or an ability that has random effects are one thing but power that has a percent chance to give a random effect is entirely different and IMO pretty much a waste.

If there are going to be something like procs in CoT I would much rather they be a timing factor than a random or percent chance one. Like the gunblade in FFVII, you attack and clicking at the right time gives you additional damage. It doesn't even have to be additional damage or an attack, it could easily be some combination of damage, debuff, buff, heal or mez.
The problem is this might be a bit too twitch mechanic for some people.

Yeah, I also got burned out playing by myself when it first came out. I decided to try it again because of this thread, and actually downloaded it a couple weeks ago.The tutorial zone is completely different and annoying, and it still felt pretty lonely in there so I logged off after a bit and I don't think ill get back on. Plus the way they changed how the powers work, is a real turn off.

I also prefer the old ability

I also prefer the old ability/skill system, but we've made due. I was 10.4ed out in TSW with full skill and aux wheel, but I never saw Tokyo get launched, which came out today (16 Aug) in SWL. We're enjoying ourselves, chipping away at the gear grind with elite dungeons and the like. Will I make it full red Legendary gear? Probably not. I might not even get to full Mythic gear but I'm enjoying it for what it's offering now and should continue to do so for the next good while.

MWM/CoT could take a lesson

MWM/CoT could take a lesson from FC/SWL on what NOT to do as a business in regards to treating their veterans poorly.
To sum it up, TSW had currency called Funcom Points. When they announced the relaunch as SWL, they said players could convert their FP to the new currency called Aurum without stipulations or addendums. They just announced the mechanism to do so today, however only players that purchased FP in TSW from July 1, 2016 and onward can convert FP to Aurum. There is a proverbial sh!tstorm blowing up on the SWL Reddit over this and rightfully so.

The tutorial was modified from the original TSW version to provide more detail on how to play but they removed some story elements that I felt were profound. I would just enjoy the ride through Solomon Island, honestly. It's quite literally my favorite zone in the game, and a favorite to many, especially when people complain about the next zone. The last batch of content for Tokyo has been nice and completely new to me from when I stopped playing TSW proper. In regards to the CoT group, I never found or ran into anyone that could confirm the presence of a cabal.

I've been on travel for the past 6 weeks, and probably will be for several more.

We have 3 members, so without me logging on, I can't speak for our response time.

You can either post your character name here and we can find you or send the others on this thread a PM either here or in game, or you can look up our cabal in the social tab in-game and apply for entry there. All sorts of options.

I like to take your ideas and supersize them. This isn't criticism, it is flattery. I come with nothing but good will and a spirit of team-building. If you take what I write any other way, that is probably just because I wasn't very clear.

I've been asking here about how to get an invite, and have not gotten any definitive response. I'm sure there are still some of us who would play if we had a group going. Solo is pretty much the way to go when dealing with the story itself. However, once you're at max level and done with the overall storyarc, it's gear progression and that's mostly done grouped. Even if you didn't find a CoT member cabal, that would certainly be your best and most efficient bet. Yes, you can progress solo via shipping containers and scenarios, but it certainly slower.

As I said, I really didn't

As I said, I really didn't like the tutorial and I actually stopped playing for the night because of it. This was something like Friday, I think. I came back Saturday and decided to give the game more of a chance, and I ended up liking it. I am genuinely enjoying the game.

For me, I've always been a bit more of a solo player, even in MMOs; I have social anxiety among other things that I'm working through so that by the time CoT drops I'm not as afraid of grouping for stuff. I don't mind running through SWL on my own, especially since sanctuary chat is always pretty active and I can interject with my weirdness whenever. That said, it would be nice to be part of a group :)

I love the game for the story, for the atmosphere, the world, the urban fantasy setting, and the characters. As a Lovecraft and Gaiman fan, it hits all the right buttons. I played all magic heroes in CoH for a reason, haha.

So, in short, I'll be around a while. I like SWL a whole lot more than I anticipated, even if the announcement oiginally gave me horrified CoH shutdown announcement flashbacks.

I'm still on travel and won't

I'm still on travel and won't be playing for a while yet. But I did want to point out to MWM something important here:

I created a cabal recruitment thread in the TSW forums and we could all use that so we don't have to use CoT forums to discuss activity in a completely different game. However, the TSW forums are horrendous. There is no difference between the TSW and TSW:Legends forums, so it is easy to get confused which game people are communicating about. Not only that but they are just not very user-friendly either. So we all get on the CoT forums instead.

MWM, make sure your forums continue to be user friendly to the crowd that plays CoT.

I can vouch for this. The only time I used the TSW forums was for the CoH/V veterans/ex-pats thread(s) after the shutdown. I don't even use them now for SWL because I use Reddit for the patch notes and feedback.

You'll hear mixed reviews I'm sure. Personally, overall, I am enjoying the combat - which hasn't really been changed overmuch imo - and they kept the stories intact and flowing as well as ever. There are a lot of paywalls though which is frustrating.

I prefer the old system, as I've stated before, but I can see why they made the new interface and skill/ability system. It's grown on me.
As for the story, I liked it so much the first time that I went back for seconds in SWL.
And I finally got my energy wings back that I had in CoH/V.

Unfortunately, I can only see them when using my [redacted] ability but it's all good.

If you enjoyed the story and atmosphere of the original TSW, then it's worth giving a shot as they've kept most of that. The combat was revamped and the ability/skill system was over-hauled as well.

Yeah, there was that. I was playing during that period so I didn't miss out on it, but I also had most of of my stuff to begin with. I ended up with an extremely similar costume as to the one I used in the original game.

I lost mah Bunneh slippers!

I lost mah Bunneh slippers! /cries

I see that I can unlock them again using the Aurum exchange and all, but man that's a lot of farming to get back everything I had had.

Since I can't remake the costume I had, I just went in a completely different direction...

Also, holy crap so far SWL is SO MUCH EASIER than TSW was... Like I'm just spamming me AoE and everything is melting. (I'm probably headed face first for a brick wall, but so far I'm having a face-melty blast.)

Yyyeeeaaahhh, just keep in mind that AoEs literally do half the damage as single-target attacks, so if/when you're looking to do dungeons again (there's only five dungeons currently, they haven't released the later ones for whatever reason) you're going to want to have a build for doing normal content (e.g. solo) and a build that's more single-target centric for that max DPS that other people are always craving. And, to some degree, required with enrage timers in quite a few of the dungeon encounters.
There's also less synergy between the weapons and their different flavored mechanics and skills. In TSW, it was highly encouraged to take skills from other weapon trees to compliment whatever build you were focused on, like crit vs. pen, which they've really only got crit now. I was Blade/Shotgun (both in TSW and SWL) and went for a DoT build that was pretty solid. It required Dragon's Breath ammo, which is like the default ammo choice, and a VERY expensive lockbox Blade that was available for a short amount of time. I felt it was worth it. Point being, since it was melee-oriented, I wanted the DoTs to build during when I could melee the boss, and then when I had to be at range, at least they would continue to deal damage and my averageDPS wouldn't be super horribad.
For the time that I spent back in SWL, it was worthwhile and hopefully you get a little of that nostalgic itch scratched.

I’m still playing SWL and still loving it (Evander “Filament” Astrum), and I happen to be one of a seemingly small number of people who like the new combat system. I’ve been playing and enjoying blood/elementalism.

The biggest thing I miss though is Auxiliary Weapons. I would have loved to round out my “mage” character with the Quantum skills.

I didn't mind the new combat system, but I do prefer the old TSW skill/ability wheel system. I felt it allowed for more creativity in what were considered "hybrid builds". There was less emphasis then, from a development stand-point, on canned FotM builds, which were really due to the playerbase responding to poorly implemented dungeon timer cooldowns. A loot cooldown would have eminently fixed the issue for the vast majority of players. But I digress.

I never actually made it to

I never actually made it to TSW's end game. I highly doubt that I'll make it there this time either.

I have a bad habit of frequently rerolling, which is only exacerbated by the fact that I only have 1 character slot. Heck I've rerolled like 5x already to try out different combinations.

I remember my old character was Blade/something-or-other-I-don't-remember. I had a spec built around penetration that let me stack HoTs on myself. But yeah I definitely notice that a lot of the power interactions are missing in the new system. It's way simplified from what it used to be, but there's also new weapon mechanics that I don't remember (Chi/spirit blade; Corruption/Martyrdom; etc).

If you were rocking HoTs, then yeah, you were probably Blade/Shotty, especially if you had a Penetration build as Shotgun had a HUGE team buff that was pretty much a staple for Shotgun builds. I had a similar build in TSW, but it wasn't really viable without the previous game's cross-weapon skills.
Each weapon now has it's own mechanic that have seen some tweaking since the relaunch, mostly Chi for Blade as it was basically useless for the longest time. I actually had a Chi Blade-less build for a good long while due to it not being worth a damn. Shortly before I stopped playing, they had it where you could keep it up for an extended period of time and did respectable damage.
And, technically, the old game is still running and you can log into it. I'm fairly sure that the link to it remains in the Launcher/Patcher. It's unfortunately an entirely new download, so it could take a while to DL.

Yeah you can still log into the old game. I downloaded it and logged into each of my old characters on the off chance that maybe they weren't counting them as "active" for the costume transfer, but no. I just missed my only window.

Sorry for the necro here, but

Sorry for the necro here, but seemed better to post here than make a dupe thread.

After a week on doctor mandated bed rest (blaster upper respiratory infection hit me HARD), I finally had enough in me to fire up my computer. For poops and giggles I decided to hop into SWL and lo and behold I actually found myself totally engrossed in no time at all. Ran around Solomon Island questing and just felt totally immersed. Even ran the first dungeon in the game, something I never even did in TSW.

If any folks here are still playing, I’m “Filament” in the game. Feel free to hit me up sometime :)

My wife is currently involved in SWL pretty heavily as well, so if you're looking for a very active Cabal, she can get you in. Just PM me and I'll get you her name and their website for recruitment.

I still play, not often but on occasion. My main is “Brawl”. I have a lifetime sub, so I’m going to take advantage.

If you're looking for a Cabal as well, that's fine. They support players of all kinds, from new bees to veteran players. I'll have my wife reach out and contact you too, if that's alright?

I’m glad it seems like we’re coming together for this! It would be great to have a cabal to play with. Feel free to PM me (I think I responded) so we can coordinate!

I also play classic TSW on occasion. There are a number of skills that didn’t go to SWL that I miss, plus I love and dearly miss my auxiliary quantum brace.

I’m in a pretty good group that was one of the founding cabals from TSW, they are even mentioned somewhere on a memorial in London. Omne Datum Optimum, or ODO for short. But I appreciate it! :)

Oh and I miss my chainsaw from TSW...

This is why I’ve played TSW classic a lot still. My auxiliary weapon was awesome (collider-collapse is one of my favorite abilities in the game) and I get to have the joy (and challenge) of figuring out weapon passive synergies. My elemental-blood-Quantum build is currently tearing Egypt apart.

Oh nice, you're in ODO? My wife is in Agnitio, and she speaks well of the ODO folks who've raided with them on their E10 NYRs.

Yeah, I’m not a long-time member but I enjoy my time with them. Very laid back and friendly but they do all kinds of content.

You know, you might be right. That was something that had changed in TSW proper, but I hadn't heard one way or another what the restrictions were, if any, for SWL.

Edit: Here's a beginners guide someone linked to me: https://forums.thesecretworld.com/showthread.php?99253-SWL-Beginners-Guide-v0-1

Just want to add to this (because I only just saw this thread myself). From back in 2011... from just before the games launch, iirc
https://forums.thesecretworld.com/showthread.php?18240-I-Predict-Cabals-will-eventually-have-multiple-factions

There was *a lot* of gnashing of teeth to that thread and ad-hominem attacks. And suspiciously the world did not break when it actually happened. As predicted. #justsayin ;)
