It may be pretty early on to ask this, but not for the devs to start thinking about it. How do you guys feel about people putting videos of them playing the game on sites like YouTube, and will you allow them to monetize through things like the YouTube partnership program? While the monetization is something that some veteran game publishers shy away from, having a ton of Let's Plays out there has helped a lot of indie games and newer companies get off the ground just by getting more eyes on the game.
Some friends and I, all veteran CoH players, recently started a YouTube channel that primarily does Let's Plays in various games, and we were wondering if there had been any thoughts on it yet. We've all backed it, even pitched in for a Skyscraper, so it wont change anything for us, but we have already said we could see ourselves doing a ton of stuff in here.
It definitely is too early to ask. :)
How exactly do you monetize people watching a video of you playing a video game?

ummm.. Ads from rivals? :P
Hmm. maybe City of Titan ad's can be seen when people watch videos about Champions Online, etc.. on YouTube? :D
Double Edged Sword BABY! ;)
They become partners with youtube and get a few cents per subscriber per video. There are whole teams of people making full time livings just uploading game playthroughs and putting ad breaks in.

The partnership program doesn't let you put your ads on others videos, rather, it lets corporations like sprint, ford, etc put their ads on your videos. If I understand correctly, Incarnadine is saying that CoT should put out official videos, and they could take in ad revenue from YouTube placing ads before their videos. I think it's not a bad idea, but I'm not sure if they would get the viewers required to participate in the partnership program, I know there is a minimum requirement and you have to have X amount of subscribers as well.
The casters can decide where the ads go so if they are sure that their videos are very popular they can put more ads in (and increase their chances of becoming partners). I don't think CoT needs to become a partner but it would be a very good idea to reach out to the popular casters when they're ready to release content.

No, I was more asking about what CoT's thoughts were regarding casters. Like I said, it's not a bad thing to start thinking about early on.
I'll point business at this thread.
