Jeremy felt a bit ignored, which was weird because he was used to girls doing this exact thing. Well, maybe not this exact thing. He thought Katrina was far too balanced to stumble like that, but was more focused on helping the staff clean up the spilled coffee. It didn't register something was amiss until he watched her leave and collapse across the street. "Aren't you going to go grieve your friend?" After a quick glance at Katrina, he ran out to "Amber's" aid, but it was clear he was too late before he even arrived.

Jeremy attempted to comfort Katrina, but his mind was distracted. He was making deliberate notes of the scene. With the adrenaline rush of the emergency, far more detail was locked into each memory. He didn't know if it'd help, but he's known mind-readers to look into witnesses before. While he did have an arm around Katrina and encouraged her to lean on him, his body language for such close contact was awkward and cold. It had been over a decade since he had held someone like this, or someone held him. Anyone that was too close too long usually got sick, and most recoiled at the initial shocks. With the wristbands, all of that changed.

Paramedics started to arrive, shortly behind the TCPD followed. "If you're up to it, I think the police will want to ask us some questions. I can handle most of them if you're too upset."

Jeremy handled the police investigating, and took their card with expectancy they'd want to ask her more questions in the future. The coroner was still examining Amber. It took some convincing, but Jeremy convinced the cops to let him and Katrina go, expecting they head right back to Whitehold and notify the landlord immediately of the incident for future questioning. With the cops looking to write this off as an accident, Jeremy went to gather Katrina and let her know the plan.

"Looks like we gotta cut the day short. Cops want us to head home. You OK to walk? I can...I can get a cab!" His realization that he could actually ride in any motorized transit was disruptively optimistic given the current scene, and it was noted by the police.

Ron was in his apartment thinking over what they seen in the vision. "Well at least she's a pro. Better her then that Contessa Nocturne she's almost as bad as Jutan." He poor himself a bowl of Frosted mini Wheats and stretched out on his couch. Yeah the thing had only three legs but it was the most comfy couch he ever had. "What your next move Jutan. You go for the easier targets first, so that's the other two orbs where ever they are."

From 20 stories up, the man in the hooded robe watched the scene and smirked. While the death of someone was never something to celebrate, he always appreciated seeing a wrench thrown into the machinations of "Mother Nightingale". His cybernetic eyes tracked the taxi until it turned a corner, then an icon popped up on the holo-scry floating in front of him . His arm emitted a noise and with a subtle wave of his hand and a flow of techno-eldritch energy, a glowing keypad appeared below his metallic right hand and he tapped a few keys on it. Each keystroke caused a flow of energy along the eldritch circuitry that weaved all along his arm as he adjusted it, yet again.

He sighed in vexation and dismissed the keypad. He still needed to find someone to work on the more mechanical parts of his body and had planned to visit a place he'd heard about later that afternoon. Perhaps now would be a better time.

The man didn't see any of Mother Nightingale's other "children", so he dismissed the active camouflage spell he was currently feeding and reached up to compact the holo-scry into a ball and "absorb" it's data back into himself. He then traced a few lines of techno-eldritch code in the air with glowing fingertips and disappeared with a pop.

"Sure!" Anthony walked into the apartment easily. "Very nice decor, I like the color contrast. I'm Anthony by the way." He extended his (obviously bio-mechanical) hand to shake hers.

"Really? Is this one of those day? I can leave if you wish my lady." He made a gesture with his thumb to the door.

"Well, very well. Perhaps, I could offer you something to cheer you up?" He holds out a hand and waves his other hand over it like he's performing a magic trick. With a quick wave and an odd spraying sound, a bright red apple sits on his palm. "Here you are." He lightly tosses her the fruit.

Anthony chuckles. "You mean like this?" The sound comes and Anthony is then holding a check for $2,000 with her name on it and his own signature, stylishly endorsing it. "Or this?" Again, the sound, then he's holding a check for $8,000. "Or perhaps, you would like that in barer bonds?" He reaches behind himself and produces a couple of taped together bills.

Drinking his beer he set it down and pulled out his phone. Sighing he answered "Yah. Sin? What does ya split personality want with me. Fine when is this meeting." Dante looked over "Business?" Ron nodded "Yah I swear Dante don't become a cape it's 24, 7 and little to no pay." Dante laughed "Just think I remember when you thought those heroes had it made." Ron downed the last of his beer "Grass always greener and all that."

Shepherd chuckled

"Midnight tonight."

Anthony frowned at her false smile.

"I won't pry into your business my lady, but I wanted to start making friends. And friends are always there if you need them." He took a bite of pie. "Just give me a knock if you ever need anything. I'm room 645."

"Well, I best be going. It was very nice to meet you my lady." Anthony says as he turns to leave then stops himself. "If you may indulge me one last time." He did one last fanciful gesture, and produced a red rose. "For you."

"Alright Midnight I be there" He looks at Dante "Another beer for the birthday boy." Dante opened another bottle and set it down "Well better then your death day huh." Ron shrugged "Nowadays much the same either way."

Having left Katrina to her sorrows at her behest, Jeremy came back to the lobby to speak to the landlord. Instead he found a familiar face. "Oh hey, you were at the museum the other day, right? I'm sorry, I'm terrible with names..."

"Pat, Hi, I'm Jeremy Heron. It's nice to formally meet you." His candor relaxed but almost forced as he extended his hand. His adjustment to natural physical contact was still in its awkward phase. Paired with the awkwardly extended hand was an equally awkward smile. "Do I remember correctly that you said you weren't on active duty heroics?"

"Oh, they actually help me be normal. I'm not a hero either," Jeremy chuckled, loosening up as he put Amber's death behind him. "These things help me not electrocute everything I touch...or set fire to it."

He promptly turned to the landlord to abate his incredulous look at the comments, "Not a hero doesn't mean villain! I'm still a pacifist civilian...haha."

Jeremy winced, then laughed as he owned his reputation. "Yep, that was me. Hope those false alarms never disrupted things too much!"

Jeremy was surprised to see Katrina. "Hey Kat. You seem to be holding up well...Did you get some good rest?"

Ron's pulled into his parking spot and headed into the lounge in his hand was a fresh six pack of Boston Lager. "Happy Birthday to me. If anyone needs me I be in my place trying to get wasted, know I can't but I still try."

Ron went on his marry way thought he did pick up a few things he nodded to Jeremy and Hypatia. Ignoring or so it seemed Katrina as he headed to the elevator and thus to the second floor.

Alpha ISR 6380 a.k.a. Hal ran across the rooftops of Titan City, looking for a new human activity to observe. His nanotech shell was currently set to active camouflage, so he was little more than a transparent blur as he bounded across gaps, vaulted low walls and chimneys, and slid along pipes. As he was leaping over an alley, a feminine scream echoed up it from ground level. He stopped to observe, looking over the edge.

Since meeting Talon, he had encountered several superheroes and had spoken with them at length about why they performed heroic acts. He had begun to grasp the concept of "white" morality and the fact that it usually made the world a better place. He was still confused over the fact that being "white" did not always mean following the law.

In the alley below, a female had been cornered by several large males and was cowering in a corner. As she started to scream again, one of the males stepped forward and struck her in the solar plexus, robbing her of the ability to breathe properly. He then stuck something in her mouth which would keep her from screaming once she could breathe again.

From his studies, Hal knew that what the males were doing was illegal, yet there weren't any heroes nearby to stop it. At that moment, Hal felt a dissonance between his mission of observation and his distinct belief that the female needed assistance. Making a decision, he leaped over the edge and plunged into the alley. As he fell, his active camouflage faded and he generated a six foot staff out of his nano-shell. He had been programmed with a number of fighting styles so that he could defend himself, and the style that used the staff had been his favorite.

Hal landed three feet behind the males with a CRUNCH! and they whipped around, brandishing a variety of weapons. He targeted the one with the firearm first, his staff whistling in from the side to impact the male's wrist with enough force to break it, causing the male to drop the gun. Next, Hal's hand came up and fired a sonic burst that smashed into one of the other males, blowing him backwards into the wall of the alley. The third male ran at him with a club, screaming obscenities, and Hal intercepted his charge with a staff strike to his sternum. The air left his lungs with a WHOOF! and he collapsed. As he fell, Hal brought the staff overhead and down, smashing it into the crown of his head and rendering him unconscious. The other two males did not appear to be combat capable any longer, so Hal moved to assist the female to her feet. She pulled the gag from her mouth and began thanking him profusely, then ran for the mouth of the alley, screaming for help from law enforcement.

Hal re-absorbed the staff, then leapt upwards, catching the wall of the alley twenty feet up. His fingertips and feet stuck to the wall and he climbed up until he was on the roof again. He switched back to active camouflage and waited until the female brought law enforcement officials back into the alley with her and the males were arrested. He took off across the rooftops again, replaying the woman's words and realizing that though it violated his programming, it felt good to help people. it was something he would have to consider doing again in the future.

"I don't know, because it be a stupid trap. Or that if I was doing a trap it would have been on that pirate ship, not my living room. Third well like I said I don't care if you have a warrant for ya arrest. Ya kill yeah, thought normally for a reason ya not a psycho." He takes another drink "Sure ya don't want a beer? Trust me or don't the door right there. Don't let it hit ya on the way out. Ya the one said you needed help. Me I just let ya know I know who ya're"

Opening the window, Cutting Edge swings in from above.

"Hope you don't mind, I let myself in, my lady." He said.

Jeremy laughed cynically to Pat, "At the rate Ron's been helping me out I may have to apply to be his sidekick!"

Remembering the earlier subject, "oh and, between you and me, I don't believe the paramedics. Girl was far too young and healthy to have a heart attack."

Cutting Edge barely dodged the grab, but appeared undeterred by the proximity of the attack.

"Easy there, Hungry, Hungry, Hippo, I come in peace."

"Perhaps . . . I should lay all my cards on the table." Cutting Edge said as he reached up and lifted off his mask. Revealing himself as Anthony. "Friends help friends, my lady." The voice distortion was gone an he spoke in that friendly tone he had previously.

Ron shook his head and stepped away "Alright, but really not smart move braking into this place. Come to think about it... " He looked at Katrina "Ya bypassed the buildings security? Figured the only way Robocop here could get in was your apartment security net down." Shrugs "Well lets get this done see what's on the flash."
