Liked being able to search glowies by ear.
Didn't always like looping continuous sounds for things like, say, Combat Jumping which was just the ability to jump further--why did it hum and leave circles?
Love some CRACK and BASS and RUMBLESHAKE on powers that were supposed to really hit hard--Nova or Energy Transfer.
ShhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAA (wait for it) KADOOOOOOOOOOM RUMBLE RUMBLE SHAKE SHAKE! Like thunder with an earthquake aftershock. Now that felt powerful!
My wife complained when she was trying to sleep in the other room, though :P
FIGHT EVIL! (or go cause trouble so the Heroes have something to do.)
I'm not sure if this has been said and maybe I'm the only one that liked this but I was a big fan of the "chatbox sounds" in CoX.
I liked that there was a difference between the team chat sound and private message sound. Maybe there could be an option to mute certain chatbox sounds while keeping others unmuted (ex. If you want to mute Broadcast and Team chat sounds but not Private Message sounds, etc.)
I had an elec/elec Clockwork brute that I was playing when I went through a period of insomnia, and my neighbour put a note through the mail slot saying it sounded like there was a thunderstorm next door when she was trying to sleep.
I bought some headphones.
Spurn all ye kindle.
Often when I was playing it was easy to miss what was going on in the chat box, those little sound ques were awesome for getting my attention. Such a little thing but a huge QoL item.

I never set anything on fire accidentally!
The Titan Legacy - Defender of the Inner Flame
Any sound that triggered once a minute or more. I don't care if it was unicorns blowing kisses, you hear it every 45 seconds or so and it's going to get annoying
I remember when Star Wars was cool...a long, long time ago...
On the other hand, I hated when they took away the sounds for my toggles (especially Icicles -- I loved that sound!). I completely understood the request by some to turn the sound off; I just thought they should have made it an option/setting instead of taking it away from those of us who liked it.
Spurn all ye kindle.
+1. Options are always better. Attach a sound and then let people decide if they want it turned on or not.
Multiple sounds to chose from would be awesome, but probably not worth the development time, at least until the game is mature and past basic development and well into little polishing touches.
FIGHT EVIL! (or go cause trouble so the Heroes have something to do.)
What I hope the DEVs do is make sure in the code that they plan for optional sounds with every power (including no sound), even if they only have one initial sound effect. That way adding additional sounds later will be so much easier since you don't have to recode and test.
one thing I hated was with mm laser gun, the pingggg sound..maybe a nice hum for it warming up with a better discharge sound
I didn't mind the glowie sound. I really liked that it intensified with proximity which was really helpful on some maps. I remember occasionally turning the volume way up to be able to hear it through walls.
The only time I ever found it annoying, and it was probably something else, was flying over the industrial area on the west side of Atlas Park. Somewhere around the middle I always thought I could hear a glowie, but could never find anything. Pretty quickly, I quit trying, but still it occasionally made me pause.
"I don't think you understand the gravity of your situation."
I'm going to go ahead and drop a request in here.

Fourth panel. That needs to be a sound effect in the game.

I didn't like recycled sounds in the wrong or strange places. Example will be the sound effect of buckshot from Assault Rifle. It makes a pop sound to what a shotgun should sound like, but for some reason, they decided to make that same sound the sound for Ice Control Ice Slick when a target gets knocked up o.O. Also the wobble sound from Psi attacks.
I didn't like the music loop at the entrance to sewer maps. I didn't like hearing what sounded like a voice saying something unintelligible. It was very distracting to me. What did you say? Screeowchah? I don't understand. Does anyone here speak jive?
Hehe...
-Wolf sends
Favorite sounds:
The death screams of the Carnie chicks! I used to choose only Carnie missions just to hear all of those delightful screams! So satisfying!
I also loved the sound from the Darkness AoE rez. Ain't nobody gonna mistake that for anything else!
Lastly, the sound of clicking the button to login a toon. Reminds me of a pinball machine launching the ball. Let the fun begin!
Most hated sounds:
Demon pets. Everything about the powerset was just plain aggravating (then again I didn't like MasterMinds much anyway).
Also, the Electricity sounds bothered me. They got the point across but the were just a bit too shrill/repetitive.
I speak a little bit jive daddy o ,ya dig?
--Formerly Jorortis--
Note: Jorortis is still a character of mine and is still going to be in the super group, not Demirus, at least not yet...

I liked the town intro music
~Es
being a healer i loved the sounds of heals going off knowing that i just saved a player from certain doom :)
I can't remember specifically when the noise occurred. I think after using a nova or being sapped or something like that, but there was a *powering down* type noise that I thought was really great that essentially indicated that your endurance had just dropped through the floor. Not that I took great pleasure at the information it delivered, but I thought it was a good noise nonetheless. Perhaps it was because your toggles all dropped?
Might be a little late to the party here, and I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but I really enjoyed the Music in Atlas park, it wasn't too loud or repetitive, and it left me knowing that there were bigger challenges ahead. Really inspiring music.
Love is like a Rhino, short-sighted and hasty; If it cannot find it a way, it will make a way.
-Flavor text on Crash of Rhinos.
The Good:
a) Hasten activation
b) The granite sounds (transforming and walking)
c) I don't know what these were under but the 'science' sounds from certain equipment.
d) Pocket D Dance Floor
e) Electric Armour
f) Teleport Sfx
g) Air superiority
The Bad:
a) Everything PB and WS
b) Super speed activation
The ugly:
a) That ambient humm drove me crazy
b) Portal corp portals
c) The typing sounds
I do stuff and go places.
Those three things you just listed filled me with a sense of nostalgia and a deep desire to play again. Is that bad?
Naw, it's just ugly.

the early gunslingers . the ones with the single revolvers. back when malta came out it was somewhat hard to tell what was in a group of them until you hear that bangbangbang and suddenly one of your teammates die and then another . followed by another as the gunslinger dropped them one by one.
My most hated, repetitive loud noises in short loop.
My most loved, in Rappelz by Horizon there is a small area with a little garden stand up, and birds to kill it's in the NE side lvl 40 area. The beautiful solo flute sound was one of my favorites to listen too it always plays just 2 minutes and it always sounded like it could go on forever, but it's more an intro piece to some really poor flute playing . I would take my level 140 character out there on the edge between zones and play it over and over while waiting for a group, just to listen to the ambient music of that flute solo.
Rondo from Rappelz was one of my other favorites, walking into the town or leaving, the bright golden sound of a few bells ringing in salute before the main theme started just seemed so nice, it's just that little bit of fanfare worthy of a hero's arrival.
My other most loved, Dragonrealms, published by Simutronics was both a soundful and soundless game. It comes with a Macro-Manager program embedded in the Wizard that allowed individual players to program sounds to play from your computer when you encountered specific events. So when bards played music on their instruments I had snippets of bach, mozart, and Rob Zombie's SuperBeast playing, I set a particular sound .wav file up of a beautiful wind chime to activate whenever I touched one of the many wind chimes in game. The titanic song snippet "Our love will go on and on" would play each time someone's character kissed another's, and I had a prophetic doom one from the Star Wars movie, when someone was badly hurt., it would play, "Strike me down and I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine", and I also had "Red Alert, all hands on deck" Siren programmed in for whenever my character was critical.
The Macro Manager also allowed for in game scripting which was considered the primary DM's tool for game improvements but players could use this as well for automating particularly boring tasks on the short term. Like picking up treasures, and cleaning various magical and musical instruments, and collecting water for crafting potions because nobody likes to do that all the time. But they've really clamped down on it in recent years, due to the high levels of crazy abuse some players used it for auto-leveling.
Ooh, ooh wait, going to add to this post! I remembered more favorites.
Final Fantasy 8, Flying around in the Ragnarok on the world map, and the witch song from the same game, Withos, Weca something, I thought it turned out to be part of O Fortuna, Carl Orff.
I also loved a lot of the Legends of the Dragoon OST's, I think because they were dynamic, it wasn't just electronic music, it was something else, listening to it all again, I think it was just a beautifully well done sound mix with well-blended variety and a non-obvious pattern. I didn't like their non-theme music though, and the battle music grates on me. it was usually a tad annoying, sometimes bareable, but not something I wanted to hear for very long.
Legend of the Dragoon OST - 10 - Forest Dennis is still a memorable favorite, and the first one I thought of.
Oh do you know what it is? Many of the songs remind me of other popular jazz hits from the 1980's it's just how the rhythm follows. It's like, like hearing Apocalyptica playing for Whom the bell tolls on string instruments. But they did it with electronic music. The main battle theme though was a definite favorite, listening to it again, yes lots of pattern, the same melody is repeated in different tunes or maybe tones?
Chrono Cross, Island of the Dead theme song, another favorite. Can't explain why. Was it just very different from everything else?
Imaginitive young lady looking for clients, talents are imagining the realistic possibilities of practically anything, and applying new technologies to practical applications in all types of business.
FREEEEEM!
Being mostly healers in city of heroes I always loved the aoe healing noise and missing the old hammy days when we had to form the healing group before entering
I mostly just don't like staticy sounds, like old telephone modems, especially if they're significantly louder than other effect... they can be physically painful.
I'm also not particularly fond of beeps or dings that sound like other sounds that naturally come from a computer or other electronics. I don't want to fight robots that's biggest threat is making me want to Alt-Tab to see if a security alert popped up or check my phone because it sounds like I just got a text.
Many here seem to disagree with me, but the sounds of the Force Field power set always bothered me and my best friend. We were rarely, if ever, a tech origin character. So, having a natural(think superman), mutation, or magic based character with force fields always broke the immersion. The sound for many of the abilities was very tech-y and sounded like it was being activated by a machine.
At least having a more neutral alternative would've been nice.
"My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings: Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Alternate power Animations... and now Alternate Power SoundFX. ;)
Ok, wow, alternative power sound fx options WOULD be an amazing step forward in customization if doable.
That'd be... awesome.
FIGHT EVIL! (or go cause trouble so the Heroes have something to do.)
More sounds always sound good to me, but I am biased. ;) The only things I am looking at possibly killing this idea would be file sizes and time. The game would be downloaded and not on disc, so the size issue may not be such a big thing, actually (unless a significant amount of players hate large downloads). Slight sound changes are not that big of a problem actually. Complete sound changes on the other hand...

Oh, here's a good one, that "hhhhhhhh Snap!" from the kinetic buffs.
On a note that may or may not be related, I suck at onomatopoeia.

Dark Armor always sounded like a Zamboni Machine angry at having lost its day job (and then turned to a life of super villainy).

I loved the music in the various zones, and also the sounds of walking on different surfaces - metal catwalks, sand, snow. I didn't so much care for sonic aspects of mental blasts. I adored the sound of the "Jingle Jetpacks" - or Holiday Rocket Packs, as they were probably more correctly called.
It would be fantastic if there was a way to 'turn off' specific power sounds, or at least seriously reduce them in volume, when customizing powers with colors, etc. Assuming we'll still be able to customize power colors. :-)

Perhaps a player control slider for reverb and echo effects? So we can limit or expand them?
I could stand in the PI portals all day, loved all the teleporting and portal sounds, not sure why, just did =3

So much yes with these. Actually, when it came to a game's sfx, I thought CoX had the best of them.
Though yes, some looping sounds could have gone with a volume slider. At least none of them bothered me as much as the running water sound effect in FFXIV. "Oh, I'm by a waterfall or jet, and now I can't hear anyone on Mumble, or any of the auditory clues that I should be going somewhere. Swell."
The background music, though not exactly sfx, was usually great, but perhaps too short in a few areas. "Oh yeah, 'm here now and getting pumped u-- aww... it's over already. (I'm standing by a few NPCs who are walking by me even though I passed them just seconds earlier) This is awkward."
I loved when you went down in the sewer tunnels, the sounds of insects buzzing about.
Also when near Vahzilok.

I didn't care for constant sounds (when it came to powers), but it didn't break the game for me either.
Hated listening to everyone's auto-Hasten going off every minute or two in the auction house.
Has anyone seen my mind? It was right here...
I agree, the sound of auto-buffs should fade/mute, just like toggles. I enjoyed the continual 'singing' of Peacebringers during 'action sequences', but not when I was standing around, chatting or shopping.
Be Well!
Fireheart
I nearly forgot about those Lin and Fireheart. Those sounds did annoy the pants off me too. Usually it was because I'd have the sound turned up after logging in and I would hear that blare through the speakers. But in certain places (like a non-mission gathering space it would be nice if power FX were either muted or decreased in volume. Maybe stick a timer on the local client to subdue power sound FX if not in combat for X amount of time? Seems like a reasonable option that could be added. Or having the option to subdue external sound FX, IE from another player.
On another note, some powers had a shout aspect that didn't match the character. Which has been talked about to quite an extent but I thinking more a long the lines of /regen's Integration where the character would make this growling shouting noise that was very male and not very human. It reminded me of a troll but mostly because those guys were all regens, and green like regens visual FX pre-powercustomization. I don't expect that to be an issue here having heard from the Sound Lord but I'd hate to find out no one thought it would be an issue cause someone didn't say something.
