There is obviously a lot of core stuff that HAS to be done to launch any game. What are some things that you want but that are kind of 'extra' and would give up to have an earlier launch date? or would you rather push the launch date back further to have it at launch? There is a sweet spot somewhere, right? Like we all want to be able to get to level 50 (okay maybe not all of us but you get the point) but they have said (I think) that level cap at launch will be 30. I don't think many have problems with that. But what about a lvl 20 cap to have the game sooner and just be able to jump in and start playing? Some will say yes some will say not to that. What, if anything, are you willing to sacrifice to a quicker launch date?
All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.
Im really not willing to sacrifice anything. Id even wait longer if we can get the bare minimum that COH had.

Do you mean CoT having everything that CoH/V had at the end as the bare minimum to launch? Or CoT have at launch what CoH had at launch?

There's a lot of stuff I could live without for a time. I could get by without missions and just street sweeping. Heck even if it was in a state like Paragon Chat you'd probably see my characters around a fair bit.

Well, now that you ask. Im not sure. If I say what they had at launch, it would probably be missing a lot of stuff I enjoyed towards the end, and if I say when they ended, it would not be realistic and COT would be pushed back years. I guess what I mean to say is that as long as it has a robust mission system, great cc, pvp, a good amount of maps, those things that would be standard in an mmo.

I need my villains too, but at launch I could live without them. If the question was if we had to choose 1 to happen at launch, I would choose Heroes.

Hmm well I'd say things like supergroup bases, player apartment/housing as such things while nice can wait for an expansion down the line. Pretty much those quality of life things that are nice, but not essential to the core game.
The danger is that if Villains aren't in at launch they might not get done for YEARS ...

They didn't exist in CoH for ages but people still made/played them.
AFAIK they still don't have villains in Champions Online yet people still make and play villainous characters.
So people could probably get by without for some time.

Get by, sure, but CoT was built on a promise of having both. A lot of critics would be justified in calling it a betrayal of delivery promises, and that sort of thing hits hard these days.
An infinite number of tries doesn't mean that any one of those tries will succeed. I could flip an infinite number of pennies an infinite number of times and, barring genuine randomness, they will never come up "Waffles".
That's true, though if they were to be added in later™ it would be less of a problem. Though some would still complain.
