Weaver

Hello, this is an idea for a spider-themed OC I've had a for a while that was inspired by the Spider-Verse. She has a familiar power set, so I'm going to try to adapt the idea to CoT and hopefully come up with a good backstory.

Name: Alisa Langley
Alias: Weaver
Age: 26
Nationality: American
Appearance: 5'7", with long black hair and green eyes. She's slim but athletic.
Costume: Appropriately themed around spiders. It's a tight one-piece suit she made out of her own silk. The suit is black and purple, and the lower half of her face is covered by a purple half-mask. There's a purple spider symbol extended across her chest. She lets her long black hair hang loose.
Powers and Abilities: Weaver has a power set similar to what you know from an amazing, spectacular and sensational superhero. She has enhanced strength, speed, agility, and reflexes, and can produce spider webs to sling across the city with.

Bio:

It should be noted that Alisa Langley is not the first person to don the identity of Weaver. She's the second, and emerged over fifteen years after. Before we get to Alisa, I'll tell you about the first, as her story is essential in that it eventually led to a new Weaver being on the rise so many years later.

Weaver I - 1993-1998

The original Weaver was someone Alisa didn't even know the secret identity of. Her real name was Kate Heller. She was a young geneticist who worked for a government agency just outside of Washington D.C. in the early '90s, and they experimented on various animals for the sake of improving humanity. Kate had been on the team that was experimenting with spiders. The point was to use enhance spider venom to help cure cancer. After spending nearly a year as part of this project, something happened. She accidentally got by poked the needle when one of her co-workers got careless.

Though angered at the accident, she continued that day and went home, where she promptly crashed out from unexplained exhaustion. She woke up hours later, finding herself sticking to the ceiling. Then she accidentally broke things around her not knowing her strength. And she started shooting webs by accident. It took a while to realize what had happened, and then it became clear. The serum she accidentally got injected with bonded to her DNA, and gave her spider-like abilities. Unfortunately, the results weren't duplicated in the time that followed. The serum was discarded without anyone knowing what it could do, and was never replicated.

Kate moved to Titan City, one of the biggest meta cities in the world. It was there where she gained popularity, operating under the alias of Weaver. She made a costume out of her own silk, iconic for its purple spider symbol. The name Weaver became known, and in the years of '94-'97 she was the most active. Weaver was also known for being approachable despite her secret identity, always making quips and working well with others. Weaver attended an autograph signing where a number of people approached her for her signature. One was a little five-year-old named Alisa. Little did anyone know what would happen down the line...

Sadly, the years of the original Weaver were short-lived. The year was 1998, and a little incident in Titan City happened known as Hurricane Atlas. There were many who lost their lives during this tragic event, one of which being the legendary American Star. But also, among the many other heroes that made the ultimate sacrifice, Weaver was one of them. Indeed, it was a day that lived in infamy.

Kate Heller was dead, and for many years, so was the identity of Weaver.

Weaver II - 2014-present

Alisa Langley was a college student who grew up in Titan City. She always had the admiration of superheroes ever since she was very young and got to get her autograph signed by Weaver. When she wasn't doing school or work, she'd be playing video games and writing fan-fictions about her favorite superheroes with OCs of her own. Alisa attended the Ephesus University in Alexandria, a very prestigious school that she had to work very hard to get into. During time there, she worked in biology. She wasn't sure what she was going to be back then, and a superhero wasn't something she expected.

Her father was Alan Langley, a scientist who wanted the best for his daughter. It was the year 2013. Tragedy struck one day when Alisa contracted an illness during a trip to Kenya. It was an illness unprepared for, they didn't know it existed and the immunity shots didn't cover it. At the risk of dying, Alan turned to everything he could to cure her of the disease. This meant splicing spider DNA with that of her own genetic code. It was done in secret, and no one was to know about it out of fear it could get him into a mess of trouble. Not even Alisa knew, as she was in a coma at the time. The doctors deemed in a miracle when she started healing at a vastly accelerated rate. Soon enough, she was back to health.

At first she wasn't sure what happened. Alisa just thought her body pulled through, and Alan wasn't about to tell her the truth. What really happened became clear when she started exhibiting her powers, such as accidentally breaking things with her own strength and making a mess out of her room with a bunch of webs. She could've freaked out about it, but instead she was excited. Alisa graduated college, but didn't pursue a normal job. Instead, she became a superhero. Having spider powers meant she needed a good name, so she thought of potential codenames such as "Lady Arachnid", "Slingshot", "Spinner", "Web Warrior". Just as she was going through her stuff, she found the autograph by the original Weaver, signed all those years ago. That's when it hit her. There wasn't anyone who used the identity of Weaver since her death in Hurricane Atlas. Given that was the example she wanted to follow, she adopted the identity herself.

Since 2014, Weaver has been active in Titan City. It was initially speculated that the original came back from the dead, but in reality it was different person carrying on the mantle. Though Alisa never personally knew the original, not even her real name, the fact that she inspired her love for superheroes back then gave her the desire to carry on the legacy. Sometimes she's asked "Do you ever feel like you're just a knock-off of the first Weaver?"

Her response? "I'd like to think I'm the Weaver who's been re-imagined for a new generation."
