Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

To purchase your copy of the City of Titans Launcher, visit our store at https://store.missingworldsmedia.com/ A purchase of $50 or more will give you a link to download the Launcher for Windows or Mac based machines.

So this is where everyone is

So this is where everyone is volunteering, eh? Then my turn!

I'm a Creative Writing major about to graduate this spring with my Bachelors. I've had my share of editing (but commas are my bane) and workshops (constructive/tough love story feedback). I'm normally the go-to guy when people want their stories looked at in terms of flow, dynamic sentence structure and generally how ideas fit together (so basic story stuff). I'm pretty thorough. I'm not prone to comments of "I don't like this" because those help no one, and I tend to focus on how/why things do or don't work. I also.. well... write... and stuff. :P It's my degree and something I've learned to do, and proudly. I'm actually working on a novel that I hope to send out around the time I graduate, so wish me luck!

I've been interested in helping with this project since last Fall but only now have gotten around to making myself present. If there's any way I can help, I'd be glad to! It's my life's dream to work on video games, and to even work on a tiny piece would be great. Just let me know.

Finally, congratulations on the kickstarter campaign! I'm hoping for 600k :D

Sincerely,
Blu

Hi folks!

Hi folks!

I'd like to throw in my hat to volunteer as well. I would love to help on the creative side--lore/world-building/mission-building, continuity, content management, and general copywriting. I have extensive "amateur" experience, including writing 13 (unpublished) novels, roleplaying, and running storylines as a GM (inside and outside of City of Heroes). I have a small amount of professional experience, which I can provide upon request, as well as some references.

Professionally, I have experience in account management, marketing, customer support (tech and billing), content management, copywriting, search, and training employees, all in the tech industry. These days, I'm a self-employed artist (fiber arts), so I have a bit of experience here and there in many aspects of running a business (creative and otherwise). Gamewise, I've been an SG officer, and regularly put together groups and led them through missions and task forces. I used to joke with my coworkers that mobilizing gamers was a form of management into itself :)

I recognize that support for the creative people is also very important, and I'll happily volunteer to help on that side as well, but I won't lie--I'd love to have a finger in the creative pie, even if my main role is more of a supportive one.

Thank you for all of your hard work in bringing this community to life!

Greetings,

Greetings,

I hit the Missing Worlds Signup to volunteer also, and realized that the forum was probably closed. I posted on the Titan Nework forum, and epawtoes suggested I post here -

I'm an artist (2d and 3d, digital and traditional) living in the Puget Sound area - I live about 8 miles from Lynnwood. I'm available to help with 3d content (currently jumping to Blender from 3DS Max) and concept art/design. I have was an avid player of CoH/CoV (Virtue) since 2004, and have a background in PC game modding and GMing traditional RPGs. I've done a bit of writing as well, and currently working on a graphic novel.

Some of my work can be seen on Deviantart: http://doomgalleon.deviantart.com/gallery/

Thank you for giving us hope again. Losing CoH took half of my heart away, and it didn't come back.

~Hellgeist

You get a strange feeling when approaching Hellgeist. Things begin to seem dreamlike, and his cloak expands, making him see incredibly tall. He gazes at you through the blue mists that have gathered, and the world sinks into shadow..

Hello (once again)!

Hello (once again)!

At long last the family issues that tore me away from Plan Z have quieted down, so I can participate again. Thank goodness I didn't miss the Kickstarter, and I couldn't be happier after reading all of the updates - I am simultaneously impressed - yet not surprised - to see things going so well.

If there's any game system on which you'd like brainstorming, organized discussion/documentation, constructive feedback, or mathematical modeling, I am ready to help. I also have experience with financial forecasting, so if the business side of MWM needs some analysis of future revenues and costs, let me know. Although I am not a certified accountant, my advice on taxes and similar topics can provide a second opinion, if desired.

I'll go ahead and preemptively sign the NDA, and of course that original IP release for me remains valid (If I need to sign a new one, I certainly will).

Greeting fellow Teamers of the Good!

Devs, Zombie man of this Bold new forum; we meet again, I see! Once in City Of Heroes, from the halls of Project Z to the commemoration of the rise of the City Of Titan(s)!

What may you ask have I come forward for? Why to offer my services as a Community Keeper of the Good, Factious, and Renowned! That is right! I wish to spread my song into yet another Generation of heroic aptitude and will charm those who have spent more than their livelihoods on bringing together a universe everyone can share.

Many a great backer, coins from my purse myself, have come from near and far. Never has a time of a brighter future dawned on a city once lost yet a sun rise's on a World awaiting its glow.

You can bet if you call upon me I will give what I can ( in-between feedings of Grandpa that is) to ensure the Good Guys are forever known from Sullon Zek, Paragon, to Titan.

Yours adoringly,
Fansy the famous Bard

Another 8 year vet here. I've

Another 8 year vet here. I've been following this project for quite some time. I'd really like to get involved. I have about ten years worth of customer service and marketing experience. I've always had the odd skill of being able to relate with people from all different walks of life. I have the ability to motivate, encourage and maintain healthy amounts of morale with the people I've worked with. I can offer community relation skills as well as input on lore/character back stories. Even muster up some creative juices for key epic events for a CoT timeline. I've done a little bit of Internet Radio with Ktamradio.com. So I have no problem being involved in discussions live over the air and i am no new comer to being put in the line of fire when it comes to Q&A's. I don't sweat much.

As we all know City of Heroes was very special. And it brings me a great amount of joy to see its citizens rebuilding what was once lost. It was like we were all hit by a typhoon and didn't have time to prepare. Now putting the pieces back together a year later I can see that the community is stronger then ever.

If there is anything I can do. ANYTHING at all. Let me know. I have A LOT of free time and I couldn't think of a better place to spend it.

Best regards,

Nightdusk

I PM'ed somebody on facebook

I PM'ed somebody on facebook about this, and here I am now, volunteering.
I'm offering my services as a designer- both architectural and sartorial.

Architecture-wise, I'm a layperson skyscraper enthusiast with a lot of knowledge and resources, in regards to skyscrapers of different time periods. Given that background, I am confident I can add some real flair to Titan City's skyline.

I'm also an avid cosplayer and wannabe fashion designer, so I can also contribute costume and prop design skills.

Currently I'm best at 2D concept drawing, and photoshop. But I'm also learning 3d Studio max from a friend, which should help me turn my sketches into working models.
You can see some of my work here:

Gentlemen, I'm not sure where

Gentlemen, I'm not sure where my paltry talents may be useful, or what my time allocation will end up being.

I've been doing what's essentially "live systems troubleshooting and incident management" for the past 5 years- I basically address issues that arise in already-deployed systems written via C#, asp.net, classic asp, and MSSql, identify the issues, correct data issues that they cause, apply interim solutions to minimize downtime, then develop a defect prioritization and allocation plans for product develpment to ignore. (Well... I now manage the team that does this, so I guess I'm more PHB than Dilbert now)

Before that, I was a courseware developer for the DoD for a half-decade. I've been an instructor at an experiential education facility (teacher/counselor) and community college (Comm Tech & Web-base Programming) , blown stuff up in the Army, and jumped out of perfectly good airplanes way too often according to my now-creaking bones.

... and I've done an occasional fan-comic for this game's spiritual predecessor.

Wherever you may have a use for me, I'll do my damnedest to deliver.

After skimming this forum, I feeling some inadequacy...

Still, I've been in gaming for many years, including playtesting credit in Conspiracy X, minor collaboration with Castle regarding issues in the Invention set system. I know the game is starting small(and must to meet a launch in 2 years); I feel I can add a lot to design of powers (new and old)and enemy groups. I have plans on Origin powers that add to character conceptional design, and make them relevant beyond character biography.

I am a professional software project manager with 15 years of experience in development, system analysis, system design, and testing. I'm also an amateur writer, primarily analysis, but some fiction work as well. I dabble in game design, and am very familiar with theorycrafting both from the point of view of a player as well as a designer. I have experience in C, Objective-C, SQL, and a number of other technologies. What I sadly do not have is a lot of spare time, unfortunately, but I'm happy to help where I can.

Cool. I'm guessing you are familiar with apps like http://www.marvelousdesigner.com/ ?
It uses a physics engine to help simulate draped clothing that falls on top of a bare model that you can then stretch and it stays in place after.

They have a Gallery with work others have done using that app: http://www.marvelousdesigner.com/community/gallery/

Someone did the clothing for an Archer: http://www.marvelousdesigner.com/community/gallery/view.aspx?messageseq=1840

Ohhh Me Likes: http://www.marvelousdesigner.com/community/gallery/view.aspx?messageseq=1718

and simple things like this:

Also, someone made this with the app. Stick this bad boy in your furnished base/lair:

Hmm....
Do you think we could have Cloth Physics added to the front skirt, and back? (We did use capes after all)

I was MrCaptainMan in CoH

I was MrCaptainMan on the CoH forums. I had an arc review thread on the Mission Architect forums there, where my reviews were written in-character. I also won a few MA Awards for my own MA arcs.

I'd like to volunteer for any arc writing that I can hep with.

I'd be better at writing sort of standalone arcs or missions rather than being involved deeply in any sort of 'bible' type thing covering overall lore. I'm quite open to 'ok, we need a 3-mission arc about a villain with a pet chimp who teleports the Crown Jewels to the moon, and it must have a bit where the see the Sword of Damocles' type requests too. I can do serious stuff as well as comedy. My review of the excellent Rikti War trilogy (The Consequences of War etc) was quite serious, and it was well-received. I'd be happy to email a sample of my work to anyone who'd like to see it.

I've also written a few scripts, though nothing published/sold yet sadly, and I'm an English teacher and copy editor/proofer by trade, so if any of thats needed, I'd be happy to help out. My working week is mon-thu, so I've largely got Fridays free. I could devote that day for sure to any CoT stuff, and since writing is also my hobby, I'm sure I'd be able and happy to do more on other days. I'm used to working to a deadline.

Hello folks, earlier I was volunteering as a Level Designer.

I bring some unfortunate news however, as I've had some pretty recent events to force me to temporarily hang up my cape. Two trips to the hospital with a ton of schoolwork to catch up on and my UDK wanting to throw fits every time I do certain actions or use it for extended periods of time.

Until I'm back into fighting shape again, I'll try to pop around the Lore Department and see if I can't put in some storywork or do some Testing if allowed.

So excited about this! I played CoH from its launch and though I did play it off until the end I don't think I've ever gotten over its passing. I'm not sure in what capacity I can help with though. I am an amateur (unpublished) writer, an avid geek and was in beta for a few mmos. If possible I'd be very interested in working with Lore and quests, my only ever complaint about CoH was the quests got boring and redundant (not an uncommon problem) and I would love the chance to help change things up.

My professional experience is in customer service and quality assurance with some light office skills.

I want this thing to succeed,

I want this thing to succeed, and am interested in helping directly as a volunteer if there's any way the project can use my personal time. I spent about 20+ years as a system administrator (various Unix flavors and types of Linux, so I won't be much use if your servers are Windows-based) before starting my current software engineering job a couple of years ago at a devops-heavy tech company. I'd say my best coding strengths are in automating stuff, and my languages are perl, python, PHP, C, and shell. I also have experience maintaining apache webservers, CGI scripts, MTAs (sendmail or postfix, but I much prefer the latter), postgresql, DNS, LDAP, wikis, mailing lists, and that kind of thing. I am not afraid to document the things I set up, either. :) Speaking of that, when you move on to a place where producing content is most important, I'll be happy to help out with writing or copy editing.

Just noticed this thread for volunteers.
I would like to offer my services, perhaps as a writer of lore. Also if voice actors are needed, I have been told I have an evil laugh and that the sound of my voice has given some of my fellow gamers (who have been on VOIP with me) nightmares.
Anything to help with a game that not only fills the void left by the passing of CoX, but also shows the big businesses that it's the players that are most important to a game.

Well.

Well.
I'm studying Computer Information Technology in CTC while on active duty in the US Army. I'll be getting out in just about a year from now and will be a full time student and will need something to keep me busy when I'm not doing school work. I'm getting pretty good at Java primarily and a little of C++ in my spare time. Being a quick learner it didn't take long for me to pick up the stuff I do know about C++. I am competent in Photoshop but I wouldn't ask me for something pretty. I've been working on a few different minecraft mods mostly helping friends out tracking bugs. Being in the military I'm very task focused and when set on a goal I do what I can to get there even if I fall a few times on the way. I'm glad I was able to support this when I did and can't wait for it to come out.

There's plenty of skilled

There are plenty of skilled people volunteering here and I certainly can't compete with coders, artists, server architects and native writers. However I'm sort of wondering if at any point you will be needing someone who provides small "packets" of content using existing tools. Something that adds to ambience of the world. That's where my interest lies in. Not necessarily in crafting zones or designing quests.

Basically you have your map designers who craft the zone, add props, villain spawns and NPCs etc, and your writers who put together their lines. I'm the guy who walks after them going "Hmm; this spot looks a bit empty. Let's move that trash can here, add a cot, and a homeless person with a dog. Ok. Good. Now lets add a few conversation lines and a few simple triggers so the guy sleeps at night or flees when combat happens near, and maybe even takes a short walk when server has resources to spare.".

These would be just small packets of ambience rather than named, important NPCs. A homeless man with a few lines, kids playing tag, a clickable stone in a secluded spot with a string of text etc. Ambience is something I liked a lot in CoH. I also liked it back when enemies just didn't materialize out of thin air. They would run in from caves or back to caves and similar stuff. It made the world feel more alive.

This would be more "doing this when I've time to spare and then submitting it for approval" rather than a full time job.

I write comics. Doesn't a COT comic sound like a good idea?

I've been writing comics for fun for about twelve years now. Within the last year or so, I decided to start taking the passion seriously. I've been published before and I'm very good at meeting deadlines. I've been a fan of COX from the day it was released. It's always been a dream to work on a cape comic and would love to help develop a comic along side this game.

I'm tossing my hat into the ring to help out with coding, tool development, or other game-mechanics-design-and-implementation tasks. I like trying to figure out the least-likely-to-break solution(s) to a problem. I've been developing C++ professionally for a couple decades now, Python for about a decade or so (since 1.3, anyway), and have done a little with Objective C. I can pick stuff up pretty fast. Unfortunately, I don't have any direct experience in the gaming industry; my work has been more for the parallel-processing scientific data analysis realm. I can provide more details via PM on request.

I have a couple of Macs, several Linux boxes, and one each can dual-boot Windows. I'm available on weekends and a few hours during the week, and possibly more later.

Volunteering my time as well

Volunteering my time as well for writing lore and such. Had a pretty good stable of toons on CoX and crafted extensive bios for them all, even if it didn't make it "on the page." Would love to help create a new world to explore!

I'd love to help out, though

I'd love to help out, though I don't have many technical skills such as coding or drawing, I have a critical, imaginative mind that is full of ideas ranging from story to mechanics. I know designers and ideas are a dime a dozen, but I would like to give my input wherever it can be of use. I can write, critique, and design systems and stories for game worlds, and help them fit into the world of the game.

I'm incredibly excited for CoT, and I want to contribute to making it the best game it can be.

Now that the Kickstarter

Now that the Kickstarter chaos may be calming down, I would like to volunteer my time and technical skills as well. I am a software engineer with 15 years of professional experience. I have experience in application architecture, technical architecture, data modeling and database development, web development, etc. I currently develop web apps in ASP.Net, C#, and SQL Server; but have previous experience in C, C++, Java, Perl, Oracle, and other technologies you are likely uninterested in.

Please feel free to PM me with instructions on next steps for connecting with the technical team.

So, I might as well throw my hat in the ring here.

I'm no programmer, nor an artist (at least of any merit), but bring about 15+ years of experience to the table in the realm of servers, networking, and disk storage for Dell (including a site visit to NCSoft's studios in Austin a week before CoH launched to fix network problems).

I also was pretty much on CoH from the beginning. Miss a lot of folks from there, and I have a small army of friends that are itching to jump into Titan City. :)

I'm volunteering for the role

I'm volunteering for the role of Game Designer and (reformed) Rules Lawyer (although I do still work Pro Bono on occasion), since my area of expertise isn't so much in the Blank Page Creation regime, but more in the "give me a few building blocks and I can make a house" sort of area. I have an ability to deal with systems of moving parts in an holistic fashion, rather than piecemeal, which I consider to be relatively "normal" but which other people keep telling me is actually somewhat unique. Whenever any of my friends want to know how a Game System (particularly of the pen and paper variety) can be "broken" they ask me. I'm very good at spotting the weak points in the design of a game, because of how I mentally fit all the pieces of the puzzle together, apparently.

So give me problems that involve "structuring" of things like rules and game mechanics and formulas and the like, and I'll be able to start with the behaviors DESIRED and work backwards to be able to reverse engineer the RULES that would be necessary to engender and support those desired behaviors as a result of how the "rules" are structured and designed to function. So ironically, it appears that my talents are more in the realm of Applied Creativity than they are within the realm of Pure Creativity, since I'm not as good at coming up with stuff whole cloth out of nothing ... but give me a few parts and pieces to start with and I can assemble an amazing array of Stuff™.

I should hope that a number of the posts that I have made in these forums, including here and here serve as adequate examples of this most peculiar talent of mine, and that it would be of (some) use to the Missing Worlds Media.

Hey Warcabbit

You guys need free, trained labor. Any thought to hooking up with schools for students? I would be happy to contact Academy of Art University here in San Francisco for some volunteers. They have entire game design schools and these kids are BEGGING for a high profile project to use on their portfolio.

Not sure if anyone offered

Not sure if anyone offered this yet or not but... A lot of science fiction/fantasy projects often involve aliens, demons, etc that have their own unique languages. I would like to volunteer my services as a linguist to help with developing working fantasy languages for any of the unique factions in City of Titans. This would include written text for clues in missions and the like, and possibly spoken dialogue for any of the voice acting parts in game (I'd be interested in voice acting volunteer work as well). Fantasy language work may even include spell names for any planned magic classifications.

As for my credentials, I earned my M.A. in linguistics a few years ago and have been teaching English and learning other languages abroad ever since. I'm a hobbyist writer, and have dabbled with fantasy languages in the past. I am familiar with the older versions of Font Creator and feel capable enough to make working fonts for use in MSword or similar programs for the created languages.

I'd also like to offer my services as a writer and editor, especially for content surrounding the faction groups utilizing the fantasy languages. I am proficient in Japanese and I could also offer some Japanese translation if needed; if not for language support, then definitely for the art department(s), who I'm sure would be interested in including Chinese characters in tattoo/insignia form for character costume models, or for use with graffiti/signs in the city itself. My wife is a native speaker of the language (and a teacher of Japanese as well!), so I'll have her support on any snags or issues I may encounter, seeing as I am unfortunately not a native speaker, heh...

Hope to hear from you soon, and congratulations on the Kickstarter!

Decent-looking trees and foliage are pretty easily generated by tools in the UDK I think. But, be careful what you wish for! Imagine everyone leaving their starting building, seeing an amazingly realistic digitized tree with 500 million polygons on the street, and lagging out of existence XD

That's a neat demo, thanks Izzy! But wow, that's an incredible number of attributes to pay attention to. It seems like a large amount of work just to populate a world with everyday objects. I can just imagine a vast production line... object creators/digitizers -> 3D model & LOD editors -> map/world builders.

I'm curiosity, how much is already made or available stock?

And how many new game objects can a single skilled developer volunteering part time produce a day? If it's basically 1-2 objects per day in ones' spare time, in 2 years that might be 700 objects... less holidays and busy days and sick days. Seems like it's gonna need a rather large team to get the thousands of bits and pieces ready, in addition to building the bigger stuff and the rest of the world.

I've literally just discovered this project today and would like to offer some volunteering help! I'm Miss Virus - or "Miss Viris" as I went by on City of Heroes whenever I started playing in 2004 due to a typo that I didn't notice until I was ten levels in. I played heavily from the pre-release up until 2008 and continued to play on and off until I dropped off the face of the planet in 2010.

I'm greatly interested in writing and editing, if copy editors and continuity editors are still needed. I'm a current college freshman who is anticipating a Literary Arts degree (if I don't switch to Psychology in the next year). I would be willing to submit a writing sample if requested, as I realize "freshman college student" does not instill the most confidence in my abilities, especially considering I'm already seeing a ton of professional writers who have already offered. However I'd really appreciate the chance to learn some experience working on video game writing if I can be helpful in any capacity!

I a software engineer with 4

I a software engineer with 4 years of professional experience, mostly working with a large existing C++ codebase on VMS systems. I have only had amateur video game development experience; I wrote a simple MUD for a class project in college, and I also took a college course in video game development where our game Panzerschwein took 4th place in the Vicarious Visions student game challenge awards at the 2009 RPI game festival.

Most of my experience is in C++ development. I haven't used the Unreal engine before, but I feel pretty confident that I can learn whatever languages or tools that would be needed. I could probably contribute somewhere between 10 and 20 hours a week, and would be willing to work on whatever is needed.

If you're interested in having me, I'll need to clear the NDA/IP release with my employer to make sure there isn't any conflict with my contract with them. I am not expecting any problems, but I'll want to check to be sure before signing anything.

All I want to do is contribute to this effort. I played CoX. I donated my money to the kickstarter. Now I want to donate my time and professional skills and... it's been, like, 2 months since I've tried to volunteer.

I own a Cintiq and photoshop, and all I want to know is: What can I do with my talents to help out Missing Worlds Media?

I've seen that software has been purchased. Tablets have been purchased. Well, I already have both and I just want to know how I can use those to help out.

This seems like the place to post, I'll keep checking back if there's another place. I'm a web-based developer with primary experience in PHP and JS (mostly jQuery) for the past 5 years, mostly on my own but some official (workplace) sanctioned projects as well as a Bachelors in Networking/Web Development. I have some experience with Python, and a little taste of Perl, C++, ASP.NET, and C#.

I didn't play COH (latecomer to the super hero game world) though I have played DCUO off and on, SWTOR since public release, and EVE from time to time. I'd love to be involved in a project like what I'm reading (a plethora of customization options). I've had a bit of story and editing experience from some MUD games but nowhere near the talent I've seen from skimming this thread. I'd be interested in passing a note or additional details to whomever is involved in the development departments (game or web). I'd especially be eager to work with any kind of API team working with passing web-based access and display to the game or character details.

Hey guys. I'm a creative

Hey guys. I'm a creative writer, pre-beta veteran and Closed Beta Tester of the CoH all those years ago with the name of Langsuir, and QA tester; I CBTed a few current MMOs, and I was also until recently a QA Tester for a company that manufactures gaming peripherals. I know QA testers are a dime a dozen, but I figured that City of Titans needs all the help they can get; I'm throwing my hat into this one. I am also waiting to apply for a University Degree in English Language and/or Literature in February next year; hopefully there is something I can help with on the writing side as well, though I do see that you have very capable writers on board already.

My characters included Langsuir, a Malayan Cannibal Spirit, and Legio, an Italian swordsman and Vigilante. After CoH sunset, those two characters, along with 36 others of mine, were left without a home. I decided after a while that if possible, I will help any way I can to make sure this project gets its chance, even with my somewhat limited skillset.

Legio needs to find another adoptive home again.

You aren't the only one. From those that I have talked to, many of us still have yet to hear back "yes or no" on our volunteer applications. I believe that the team is discussing/voting on their higher up positions first. After those are finalized, the lower positions will likely start being filled, but may still take a while due to an undoubtedly larger ratio of applicants per position.

The best thing I think we can do is to continue looking at things from their perspective. They, too, are volunteers, coordinating over multiple time zones to find time to chat, discuss, and make decisions amongst themselves. Think of it like trying to schedule a long TF (i.e. Dr. Quarterfield) with players from all over the country with different livelihoods, except even if you manage to get most everyone online at the same time, there is no guarantee you will successfully complete the TF in your allotted time and then you have to reschedule everyone again.

The waiting game is hard, I'll agree. However, I would rather they take a few extra weeks now to really analyze and decide who they want as their staff in the hopes that the rest of the production process goes smoothly and sticks to the rough schedule (as opposed to making hasty decisions for the sake of moving forward and having forward momentum be slower due to those hasty decisions).
