I got into VR last year and bought a Q3. Since then I’ve played quite a few games like Into the Radius, Walkabout Mini Golf, Half-Life: Alyx and No Man’s Sky. For a long time I was using Air Link for PCVR streaming. At first it felt fine, but after a while the software issues started getting annoying ,random connection problems, instability and weird bugs that would just pop up for no clear reason.Later I switched to Steam Link. For a while it was actually a bit more reliable than Air Link, which was nice. But recently I finally tried Virtual Desktop. I spent $25 just to test it, and honestly it felt like a pretty noticeable upgrade. My most honest reaction right now is that I kind of regret not switching earlier.

From my own experience, VD’s image quality looks better than Steam Link overall. Everything feels a bit smoother and more stable. The biggest difference for me is that I haven’t run into nearly as many random software issues. Day-to-day use just feels more polished escape tsunami for brainrots.Another thing I didn’t expect to like so much is the built-in virtual environments. The visual quality is really nice, and it actually adds to the immersion more than I thought it would.If you mainly use your Quest 3 for PCVR, I’d honestly recommend giving Virtual Desktop a try.

One small tip: if you want the best experience with VD, your PC should ideally be connected with wired Ethernet. That makes a big difference. The ideal setup is having your gaming PC wired to the network and then using a dedicated Wi-Fi 6 router for the Quest 3. If your router is far from the room you’re playing in, or there are walls in between, the improvement from this setup can be pretty noticeable.
