Now I was thinking about the old stories at work and suddenly it turned to thoughts of the TF's, Signature stories, and what have you. Now most stories have been whoppers others duds. Now what stood out where the ones that reflected into the game world in general or helped the CoH. story line and I wanted to know, what are your "top 3 (close to) world ending stories" that make you look back and say "That was awesome"!! And they can be anything from a solo story to a full fledged arc with friends or random strangers.
Mine are:
3) The Ritki invasion. Now this is a story that to me was a turning point in which both hero and villain can agree on that should be stopped at all cost. Most of my characters were of military, law enforcement, or vigilante and it fit well with their backstory and when I created a new character it introduced them into a world where the enemy was not your run of the mill invader.
2) Signature story arc: Who will die?: This was to me something that was engaging where the writer made it about me as the central part of the story. In it the villain said my name and how he plotted to have me killed( for whatever reason I do not remember why?), each moment I felt excited for the next part of the story and could not wait until next one. And the final battle was to me mind you was total awesome sauce, where I got to join up with the U.S. Naval fleet in order to stop Wade, sad how all hands were lost :(. But I got even when I got to go to the moon and defeated Wade and the Earth in the background was really cool. But the icing on the cake was where the reporters interviewed me and got parade salute. Definitely one for the ages.
1) Dark Astoria: Incarnate trial and remodel. What can be said? The place was creepy. But I am getting ahead of myself. The opening story started you out in what was like a CSI episode investigating a murder only to turn out to be a supernatural trip to Mot's new world. The introduction of the Knives of Vengeance fit in with my Angel character, doing all the missions and then going over to a TF to finish off the arc was very satisfying. Well done and one that did pull me in and had me screaming at the game because my Archangel(tank) vs The Sentinel of Mot(AV) we fought to a standstill. He damage me, I absorb the damage, I hit him and since he is an AV, he is healing as fast as I hit him. Had to call in friends to help take him down finally after 10 minutes to bashing each other and getting no results. What was also cool both stories( 1&2) mentioned other cities during the crisis and it created a sense of urgency to save the world from Mot who looked like a giant Zerg Hydralisk and Diablolique who got DD's attached to her TF(puns lool).
So there you have it, my picks with a runner up:
Incarnate trials themselves.
Except for Keyes Island Reactor Trial and the TPN Campus Trial. I hate them both with a passion and go back to the hell that spawned you.
So what was your favorite story, arc, trial or TF that made you think back at them occasionally and make you smile on how awesome they were?
All 4 Mutants
Evolution is key. And mutants are key.
Rats, I don't remember fighting on the moon. Wait, maybe I do. I seem to remember complaining about gravity not being lower. Was that it?
ETA: Boo on me if the most memorable part, to me, was being bothered by inccurate gravity.

The very existence of the taunting tank irritates, for it requires idiotic AI that obeys the taunt.
Ironically, it is one of the things that I *love* about Wildstar, in that when you are out in space (or at least on the outside in a space "zone"), you have lower gravity, so you do jump higher/further... your controls are *also* a little bit floatier as well (Carbine have inferred that if they wanted to, they could increase the gravity as well, making it almost impossible to jump if they so desired... )
Oh yeah Farside. Pretty much everyone loved the moon section of Farside. The fact you walk in on the aftermath of a nasty Squirg Apocalypse was the clincher. That area was a lot more creepy then what I was expecting out of another Squirg Apocalypse scenario, not that the first one was a cakewalk....
As for CoX apocalypse scenarios. I remember when the Rikti appeared for the first time in-game. Was freaking scary as hell for little ole me at that time. I also remember reading tidbits of how nasty the first Rikti War was and having my jaw drop. I never got to play during Mot. I did see clips of the tutorial in Galaxy City when it was being destroyed. That was rather brutal all things considered. The first thing I noticed was that there was corpses everywhere. Vahzilok surgeons, Skulls, Hellions, Longbows, and I think I recall seeing a few civilians mixed in there.
I wonder if CoX didn't shutdown if there would of been a nasty Shivan Apocalypse scenario.

I wouldn't mind a instanced AV Mission where the gravity was that of the moon one second... and the next it was that of Venus.
Mars might have been habitable once upon a time, now its Earth, next is Venus. ;D
We should probably have a Super Villain talking about thinking about using Venus to hide a super secret base, or armies or other nefarious things. Whichever CoT villain is very tech savvy!?
Plus, with all the cloud cover on Venus, much like Earth was in The Matrix, no one would see or know a thing and its was right under all of mankind's noses, till its a little bit toooooo late! Alien Invasion here we go!
