Announcements

Over Labor Day Weekend, our repository server gained sentience and walked away.

It's back and said it just went for a walkabout and didn't mean to cause any distress. What is interesting though, is it will neither confirm nor deny the existence of these "motorheads" we've heard about.

Thank you all for your concern, and batteries.

The motherboard manufacturer sent a replacement part and we have put the repository server back together. We are back up and running and will now continue our regularly scheduled programming. (please pardon the pun)

Tendril/Tentacle/Feeler Power

How about a melee power set that grants you a set of these? Different powers, ie attacks and blocks, would involve sprouting or extending different numbers of tendrils?
The tendrils could also be customized as slimy mollusc limbs, or mechanical Doctor Octopus appendages, or alien jelly strings, etc, with spikes or suckers or rivets etc?

Thoughts?

I have, that's very cool, but

I have, that's very cool, but having an animation of tentacles used for a melee power might be too unwieldy and would also not have the same potential of an actual tentacle weapon option.

I've always seen tentacles as incorporated into a powerset focused around whips and other binding rope-like objects as an animation. I'm certain that you can customize how each individual power looks, so you could potentially add or subtract tentacles for every power you use like you were saying. It's very doable to leave it separate, although I'm not sure how it would be that different.

Okay, first of all, why would it be unwieldy? Second of all what possible reason could we have for not allowing both and have the player make the decision? Making an animation is like making a costume piece and saying there can't have both a melee tentacle animation set and a ranged tentacle animation set is like saying we can only have one mask. If you don't want a tentacle based melee character then just don't make one and let everyone who does make what they want to make.
