Please read the current update for instructions on downloading the latest update. Players with Mac versions of the game will not be affected, but you will have a slightly longer wait for your version of the new maps. Please make a copy of your character folder before running the new update, just to make sure you don't lose any of your custom work.

It looks like we can give everyone a list of minimum specs for running City of Titans. Please keep in mind that this is 'for now' until we are able to add more graphics and other system refinements. Currently you will need :
Windows 10 or later required; no Intel integrated graphics like UHD, must have AMD or NVIDIA card or discrete chipset with 4Gb or more of VRAM
At least 16GB of main DRAM.
These stats may change as we continue to test.

Streamers trails

In the comics The Human Torch, and Firestar leave trails behind as they fly, these trails remain visible for quite some time and the torch has even used his to create flaming barriers.
In the movies there were these motorcycles in Tron, I'm sure you've seen them.
Anyway is there any chance that could happen in the game?

It might be nice even if it was just cosmetic, a harmless vapor trail. And it could be used to block someone's view but also used by opponents to track you down.

You could also have super speed kick up dust trails when you run through certain areas

Ideas?

I know that GUild Wars 2 does

I know that GUild Wars 2 does it (well at least with the legendary weapons) they have a unique graphical effect associated with them. One of the bows (I forget which) means that you leave a trail of flowers behind you wherever you go.

Champions does it now. I can't remember if its an aura that works with any travel power or if it's a specific super-speed travel power.
The trail gets quite long before it starts collapsing behind you.

Based on the way the Devs of CoT want to make sure that "power animations" are as customizable as possible I doubt a streaming trail effect like this would be hardwired directly to a specific type of travel power.

I also highly doubt they would let any of these secondary trailing effects for travel powers have any combat significance because if we could benefit from something like "flaming barriers" or Tron-like walls then everybody would use them by default and we'd have "City of Streamer Trails" on our hands. If they wanted a specific powerset to have specific "movement-oriented" powers like "Tron Walls" that actually created Tron-like barriers that'd be fine, but no "generic" travel power should ever provide combat-oriented side-effects like that.

Ideally this would be done as customizable cosmetic "travel auras" that could be activated by any kind of travel power, even if you're not moving incredibly fast. Maybe if the Devs got really fancy they would allow us to adjust the duration of the trailing effect so that we could choose exactly how far back we wanted the trails to extend from our bodies. I could see were some people might want super long trails whereas other people might only want them to stream out like a few feet or so.

Do up something like this as a [b]HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER![/b] sort of multiplayer competition and you've got your "level" PvP playing field ... The Arcade.

Yeah I could see where specialized TEMP travel powers might have "built-in" streamer effects. And like I said before I could even see where unique powers like this could have streamers with tangible combat effects that would actually "do something" besides just being cosmetic.

To be clear my main point is that I don't want to see the CORE PRIMARY travel powers (i.e. Fly, Teleport, Super Speed or Super Jump) have hardwired aura-like effects. These kinds of things should be completely optional and strictly cosmetic in those cases.

These would be fine since they'd fall into the realm of "customized cosmetic" modifications like the travel auras from CoH. These would clearly be things you could change (not hardwired into the power) and that would have no "numerical" effects on combat.

Allow the trails to exist a bit -- they do indeed block views partially, even translucent and transparent. Forget about balance.

How about a flame guy who can

How about a flame guy who can set stuff on fire, causing damage?

How about creating a blobby walking pet and the more lil' fireballs he throws into it, the bigger it gets, no limit, though it slowly runs down. It is a temp pet, set to walk off in a direction and cannot be stopped or dismissed, and just wears down (lil' fireballs feed it).

Other caster types can do the same, and even cast into a teammate's blobby, so it has, say, ice and electricity damage too.

Build the cool, and they will come. Forget about balance. This is PvE.
